Hello Anon, of course! You may be interested in my Charon Headcanons, BUT please heed the trigger warnings. I'm really sorry it took me this long too. Regard, please enjoy.

Ahzrukhal Headcanons

Ahzrukhal was a pre-war businessman ghoul. Towards the end of the war, he became a loan shark seeking opportunities in the turmoil of pre-war economics. He’s also an experienced bar owner.

Because of his status as a pre-war ghoul, he really does not give a shit for pre-war stuff because he’s already seen it. There's no mysticism or anything for him anymore.

Opened up a bar the day before the bombs dropped, LMAO. However, he decided to just open it up and sold his water and booze at super extortionate prices.

Deep down, there’d be some aspect that's genuine of the “Uncle Ahzrukhal” persona during this time, and there still is, but it's mostly covered by his desire for profits.

Surprisingly has a somewhat strong belief in his morals, albeit, his morals aren’t good, but he does hold up the ones he does have to a T. Does his own cleaning, doesn’t deal chems or sell booze to kids and won’t outwardly insult his customers.

Brews his own stuff too, mostly to save cash. It’s actually pretty high quality, but he saves it for really import visitors or people with the most caps.

He got previously kicked out of megaton for selling chems, despite living there for a while. Moriarty did take over his bar. His original bar was also destroyed at some point. Still really bitter about it.

Along with this and Underworld’s chem policy, he’s incredibly picky about who he sells to. Has been tempted to spike Carol’s andGreta’s food with chems to get them kicked out

He really wants to open a bar and sell alcohol at Tenpenny tower, but really pissed off by ghoul xenophobia. He’s still trying to get them to at least let him trade his own stuff.

Changed his name to be more fitting to the Underworld and specifically the 9th Circle. He also renamed Charon to be more fitting to the theme as well.

FO3 companions react to LW with good karma:

Butch :

He's not surprised, I mean, you grew up together. You always protected Amata when he was a little shit. But he's grateful you got him out of the shelter before he really went off the deep end. Although he's very embarrassed by that. He's never really been a good person, but he's never been a bad one either. He's not a monster, just an immature young adult.

Sergent RL-3 :

A soldier has to be good, but also firm. My God this poor old robot is torn in two. Your dynamic is like the bad cop and the good cop. If he were human and could drink whiskey, he'd drink to every good deed.

Fawkes :

The one who is most proud of you, of all the companions. Seeing you protect those who can't, killing villains, or recovering children kidnapped by his brothers. That's what warms his mutant heart. He'll congratulate you, give you advice and, above all, say what he thinks about the situation and you. But if your karma goes lower and lower, he'll be disappointed but won't tell you. After a while he'll ask you if you're doing well mentally. He's afraid he hasn't seen any clues. He will stay with you for a while once the karma is bad, but will leave with a heavy heart.

Paladin Cross :

She's happy to be travelling with you, finally someone good in this world. But she doesn't say it openly, a pat on the back. Is the only thing to congratulate you. But if you have to lose your karma, secretly she will be disappointed (depending on your level of relationship with her.). But above all she'll go back to the citadel without a word and with a sad heart for having believed in Father Christmas.

Jericho :

The most hostile of them all. If he wasn't in Megaton, he'd accept a lot of capsules to put a bullet in your head. But somehow he understands that you're not witty enough to be mean.

Clover :

Compared to Jericho, she won't be too hostile towards you. She'll just be disappointed by your behaviour, believing she's found a new dictator with troubled tendencies. She'll just be bitter with you. But she'll still fall in love with you somehow.

Charon :

Charon doesn't give a fuck about your karma. But my God, it feels good not to kill women and innocent children or to put a bullet between the eyes of a simple drunken traveller for Ahzrukhal. But sometimes he's a bit scared of your kindness, he tends to prefer someone neutral or openly nasty. For him, kindness means hiding. And he doesn't want to discover your inclination if you're a fake.

Dogmeat :

This good dog doesn't care about your karma. He'll always be with you, as long as you don't mistreat him or betray his trust in you. A bone, a corpse, a fight plus a caress to congratulate him and he'll be fine. He'll be loyal to you with any kind of karma.

Can I get headacanons for how the companions (FO4) and ghouls (FO3) will propose?

for you, of course.

Extravagate measures, only the best for the happiest moment of both of your lives. Plans months, maybe even years in advance. An entire day is spent leading up to the moment, and its that drive to commit to every little detail that shows them that you are the one for them:

-Hancock, Snowflake, Codsworth, Tulip, Greta, Deacon.

More on the casual side of bringing it up beforehand and emphasizing the trust between you two rather than the romantism in the action. Perhaps a bit more on the traditional side. Estimated to happen but still a nice surprise when it does:

-Curie, Maccready, Carol, Doc Barrows, Gob, Nick Valentine, Piper, Winthrop.

Very much a serious and preplanned discussion between you too. No just asking out of the blue for your hand in marriage, but spending a very long time talking about yourselves and your wants and your possible future together. It might sound boring on paper, but its most honest and tender you've ever been with each other, and its a conversation that builds your relationship up stronger than ever:

-Danse, Charon, X6-88, Strong, Cait, Longfellow, Preston, Willow, Crowley.

Spur of the moment. The flames are hot and they are addicted to it. They never wanted something so much and so badly, and it can be very early or very late into your relationship when they ask. Its impulsive and raw, but they aren't doing it out of foolishness. They feel something strong and want it to come to fruition as soon as possible:

-Cait, Ahzrukhal, Quinn, Patchwork, Nurse Graves.

Things that have happened to in Fallout 3 so far as I go into the game not knowing anything at all about it, part 3 (part two is in the reblogs of the og post I just don’t want to make it any longer lol):

-Game just straight up crashed randomly (love u Bethesda) but thankfully it was like soon after I turned it on so I didn’t really lose anything important. What was weird though is that after closing it and reopening it, it was still crashing. Like it just froze with glitched audio on the title screen. Also somehow when I tried to open a whole other game to give it a break the glitching sound continued over to a whole other goddamn game for some reason. I am using past tense here but I actively write this stuff as it happens (I have this post drafted) and literally have no idea what to do rn because I’m playing on Xbox GamePass and like wha (I’ll figure it out)

-I found the mechanist and tried to do that speech thing on him where you try to tell him he’s become just as big of a problem as the AntAgonizer, the first time it didn’t work and he killed me. The second time it immediately worked, and after like 3 lines of dialogue he took the suit off and I completed the entire quest. Like. Like the whole thing. What the fuck. I don’t even know what the AntAgonizer looks like yet. I was. I was expecting a little more there

-Was hanging out in the Rivet city marketplace for the first time, got some pre-war clothes, gossiped with some NPC’s, all of sudden one of them starts running and I’m getting shot at, I leave and come back and everything’s normal, don’t know what that was about but I LIVED THIS TIME THOUGH HA

-Was going through hell in DC as you do and started repeatedly clipping through the ground with every step I took, had to reload a save to get it back to normal

-Whatever you do, do not take a left after you discover Friendship Heights

-Found an area that was full of raiders to practice my combat and the raiders just like. Hung a bunch of dismembered bodies from the ceiling of one room and I will not lie I was a bit aghast. Appalled if you would. Flabbergasted. Like have some class???

-Made it to the underworld, I’m considering killing Ahzrukhal to learn more about Charon without having to pay, but the people there already probably don’t trust me and I don’t want them to become hostile because I killed him lmao

-Found a glitched like,,, floating armor I think??? It was just a chest plate and mask floating in midair in some closed off area of an underground metro station, and I’m not joking it scared the shit out of me because it looked like a floating corpse staring straight at me alsjdhakksj. When I walked into it gravity kicked in and it fell to the ground, but when I went back into the same area again later it respawned, floating again.

-I’ve realized that there’s a counter for “pants exploded” in your stats and I am,,, very curious on when that will be a thing I can do

Notes:

-I still have absolutely NO idea how to use V.A.T.S. properly, so I avoid it, so I’m absolutely dogshit at any combat in the game. I kind of think that at this point I should probably work on it because I’m struggling to make any major progress with the quests. So I’ll make sure to practice sometime

-From now on I’ll tag these posts as “fo3 with Stupid” (the old ones are tagged with this as well)

sure can friend! sorry for the wait, had a busy couple of days.

properly writing Universal Translator feels like a bit of a distant dream to me at the moment because I’ve had the idea for this for so long (the original note on my phone is from September 2021) and because it is by far the fic with the longest plot that I have planned ever, and I’ve certainly never written anything as long as this. Literally the majority of the plot came to me in the middle of the night one night and I had to frantically write it all down so I didn’t forget it.

(putting this under a cut cause it got kinda long)

Universal Translator (or whatever I end up calling it) is set after the events of the main game in FO3 and also covers a modified version of the events of the Replicated Man quest. My lone wanderer Billie is recovering after the activation of Project Purity, and she and Charon go to Rivet City for her recuperation rather than make the longer and more dangerous trip back home to Megaton. There Billie (being completely unable to stay out of trouble for like 5 seconds even when she is recuperating from severe radiation injury and being in a coma for like 2 weeks) gets involved with investigating the presence of this android in the city while reconnecting with Butch. In the meantime, Charon inadvertently develops a connection to Harkness after sharing smoke breaks on deck. However once they all realise who Harkness really, is the whole conundrum of what to do with him - and even more so what do do with Harkness’s growing feelings for Charon and vice versa - becomes a whole issue of it’s own, and the shenanigans develop from there.

I’ve not written a whole lot of the text for this (including some for the very opening that sadly got lost somehow) and all that I have is somewhat spoilery so I won’t post it for now. But in amongst my 2000+ words of planning so far, in short this is the story of Charon and Harkness catching feelings for each other, and Billie and Butch starting to lay some of the groundwork for them catching feelings at a later point. I know the Charon/Harkness ship sounds cracky and ridiculous but the more I think about it the more they have in common. Both have experiences of being abused and controlled by their former masters, and have been used for violence against others of their own kind against their will (Harkness in his time as a courser, Charon during his time under contract for Ahzrukhal and possibly before that too) which certainly would have been isolating and traumatising; however they’ve both maintained an essentially good moral compass despite all of the hardship they’ve undergone. The main difference is that Harkness has been able to gain his freedom, whereas Charon hasn’t even been able to consider the idea.

The plot gets continued a little in another WIP I have ongoing called the modern pygmalion which I have talked about a little already here.

I’m sure that Ahzrukhal would have killed you on the sly to get Charon’s contract back if Charon hadn’t killed him first. There is no benefit for him to just sell his precious bodyguard while he’s using Charon to get more caps and protect those and himself. He’s ready to kill for less and obviously just used you to do his dirty job or get more caps from you (because a normal person have to collect enough money to pay the price he’s asking for and don’t just have all the caps on them while traveling). I think Charon killed him to prevent death to his new master and avoid to fail in Ahzrukhal hands again.
