after i finished giving blood today and the pouch was sealed and they took the needle out of my arm, the nurse handed me the pouch full of my blood to squeeze and said "look at your blood for the last time, its mine now!!!" and then like cackled lmao. bloodbank nurses are so much more fun and chill than like any other genre of nurse in my experience

1- Given Vestige AfO isn't exactly willing, this is an AU where Izuku can access any OfA Quirk if he tries hard enough, since the others already agreed to pass it on. That said, to maintain a sense of control, Vestige AfO pretends it was his plan all along in order to divide All Might and his successor from each other. He convinces himself and exactly none of the other vestiges of this, who put more locks on the vault door when he gets too loud on the other side.

2- During the quirk assessment test, Izuku uses Gearshift when trying to not break his bones throwing a ball. It doesn't feel like OfA, but everyone else doesn't notice. He's tense, waiting for anyone else to realize he took theirs on accident, but no one reacts (other than Kacchan). He tells All Might after, half panicked, and they and Nedzu look at everyone in UA, but it doesn't match up with anyone. All Might makes calls, but Tsukauchi hasn't heard anything. Nedzu proposes the idea that if AfO as part of OfA's history has been stockpiled in the quirk, other holders might as well. They only know about Float, but All Might says he'll look further than that and get a list, hoping to see a match with any of the other quirks he sprouts.

3- finally, they do, and Izuku is almost sick when relief when a classmate asks who the new quirk he's borrowing is from, and he can say "oh, a relative of mine- Uncle Banjo calls it Black Whip" instead of trying to avoid answering. At that, Todoroki looks up because he's been sure All Might was letting Izuku borrow his quirk too, but couldn't figure out why he'd trust a random student with it. A relative, though...

4- The Vestiges reach out to Izuku the night after the SF. He dreams of Iida, who's thin and fading like a ghost, panicked for his brother, asking Izuku to help, he'll do anything. Then he's gone, and Uraraka is there, asking where she is before she vanishes too, and leaves him to watch ancient memories of a couple of feral twins arguing politics they didn't understand. After, Yoichi apologizes to Izuku, as none of them expected any of this - then tells him not to listen to the other vestiges, Yoichi is sure that Izuku can use the quirk to help people, like he always wanted his brother to. With that new pressure on, Izuku wakes up and wants to dismiss the entire thing as just a weird dream, until he hears on the morning news that Ingenium was attached, and hears Tenya's panicked echoes.

5- In the months leading up to the Jakku Raid, the vestiges realize that the plan to superboost Tomura is probably also a bodysnatching plot from AfO- and if he could do that to Tomura, then he could do it to Izuku. They do not want three AfO's duking it out, and to be in one of them even less, so they dedicate most of their time to keeping that Vestige down and away from Izuku. The good news is he has more practice with using their quirks, so he shouldn't be too hurt by their lack of attention and advice just then.
