Odets AKA Athena from Fluff Buddies in Fair Oaks, California
Click here for more information about adoption and other ways to help!
Click here for a link to Fluff Buddies' main website.
Odets, aka Athena, born approximately 7/15/19, is a gorgeous Russian Blue color. She was returned through no fault of her own (adopters moving across the country and cannot take her . . .)
Per adopter: She is spicy, she is sweet! She has a spunky personality - loves to play and be active, but also lounge around and cuddle. Petting and cuddling are on her own terms [typical cat!] when she wants to and if she feels safe and comfortable with you. She loves sleeping in a bed. She is incredibly smart and understands so much! She is very adventurous. She gives love bites when she’s had enough of pets!
So looks like no small children for this beautiful girl! Also, adopter says Athena is indoor/outdoor. Fosterer will see if that is true or if she will acclimate to an indoor only environment.

Perfect Rhythm by Jae ( read by the talented Angela Dawe) will probably make you cry, but not for the angsty reasons we too often find in romance novels. It also features an asexual character and an audible warning so you can skip over the spicy chapter if you’re like some of us. Overall a great story and I’m excited to start the next book in the Fair Oaks series.

"Since the battle at Fair Oaks, I have been over the battlefield and saw the dreadful evidence of the conflict plainly marked by the long rows of trenches and the scattered implements of death and destruction lying about. A larger number of the dead rebels were still unburied when I was there, although over a week after the battle; the stench was awful. I have never seen a full statement of the loss on both sides, but suppose we lost somewhere about 6,000 in killed and wounded, and the rebels about 12,000." Captain Wm. Medill, 8th Illinois Cavalry, In Camp near Mechanicsville, Virginia, June 17, 1862
Corrected CASUALTIES: 13,736 Union and 5,739 Confederate [source: American Battlefield Trust]

JuniperW and JoeyW from Fluff Buddies in Fair Oaks, California
Click here for more information about adoption and other ways to help!
Click here for a video of Juniper and Joey!
Click here for a link to Fluff Buddies’ main website.
Meet JuniperW and JoeyW, aka Juniper and Joey. They are a bonded pair of siblings born 7/30/16.  I, their foster mom, fostered them as kittens and they went to a wonderful home. Due to the adopter having medical issues, the kitties needed to be returned. Juniper is a stunning petite, medium hair, black and white kitty with big green eyes. She will hold an intense gaze with her human that is her way of saying, “Are you going to pet me or what?” Joey is a short hair orange and white kitty with beautiful markings and big golden love eyes. At first he seems more apprehensive than his sister but throw him some treats and offer your hand to pet him and he goes bonkers for the attention. They have been in my care for a couple of weeks now. I have learned they are definitely bonded and need to go together.  They were scared suddenly going to another home they did not remember but my husband and I have been working with them. They are apprehensive at first and have hissed at us a few times but they don’t hiss at us anymore. They come out for us and purr loudly for pets (and also wet food). They need a quiet home where they have their human(s) to themselves.   They have been around a small dog without any issues

Bird bath
I was exploring at Sailor Bar one morning last May, following a trail around to the more overgrown portion of the Turtle Pond, when I heard loud splashing sounds from up ahead. Creeping forward, I managed to catch this California Towhee in the middle of a bath. These little brown birds may be terrifically plain in color, but they are so numerous in my region that their loud chirping often fills…

How Hard Water Affects Your Water Heater in Fair Oaks and What to Do About It?
Hard water is a common concern for homeowners in Fair Oaks, and its effects on household appliances, including water heaters, can be significant. In this blog post, we'll explore how hard water affects your water heater and what you can do about it.
The Impact of Hard Water:
Hard water is characterized by high mineral content, mainly calcium and magnesium. Over time, these minerals can accumulate in your water heater, leading to several issues:
Reduced Efficiency: The minerals in hard water create scale buildup on the heating elements of your water heater. This layer of scale acts as an insulator, making it harder for the heating elements to transfer heat to the water. As a result, your water heater becomes less efficient, leading to increased energy consumption.
Shortened Lifespan: Scale buildup not only reduces efficiency but also accelerates wear and tear on the water heater. The increased strain on the system can lead to a shorter lifespan and the need for more frequent repairs or replacements.
Poor Performance: Hard water can cause your water heater to produce less hot water than usual. Additionally, it may take longer for the water to heat up, affecting the overall performance of your water heating system.
What to Do About It?:
Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular maintenance for your water heater. A professional technician can flush the system to remove accumulated sediment and scale, improving efficiency and performance.
Install a Water Softener: Consider installing a water softener in your Fair Oaks home. A water softener reduces the mineral content in your water, preventing scale buildup and preserving the efficiency of your water heater.
Consult a Professional: If you notice a decline in your water heater's performance, don't hesitate to consult a professional water heater repair service in Fair Oaks. They can assess the extent of the issue and recommend appropriate solutions.
Hard water can have a noticeable impact on your water heater's efficiency and lifespan. To ensure optimal performance and longevity, take proactive measures such as regular maintenance and the installation of a water softener.

do you have any specific headcanons for the teens??
I don’t really have too many headcanons for the teens. Most of them tend to draw from my own or my friends experiences/habits bc I find it funny so —
Taylor: has fibromyalgia and once texted the group chat something along the lines of “do you guys ever sleep so hard you wake up to a dislocated hip? I’m so good at sleeping” Scary was the only one who thought it was funny.
Normal: washes his hair in the sink more often than one should. He also wouldn’t have time to blow dry it before he’d put on the Teenie costume so his hair would end up crimped and half wet for the entirety of the day.
Additional HC that’s more family aligned: Before Hero and Normal were born, Sparrow painted a tree mural in each of their rooms. Hero eventually repainted her room when she was 12 but Normal’s tree is still visible :)
Hermie: is double jointed at the elbow and shoulder in his left arm. He can do this weird trick involving moving his clasped hands from behind his back, over his head, to his front. It’s weirdly bendy and uncomfortable to witness.
Lincoln: when he was around 8-9 yrs old, he attempted to convince his dads to help him make a sign that said “Tricks for Kisses (hershey kind)” around Halloween. He explained he was gonna do soccer tricks for kisses but did NOT explain he meant the chocolate kind. They did not make the sign.
Scary: when she was very little, like 4-5ish, Veronica signed her up for ballet classes. She did enjoy them until it was time for her first recital where, before even going on stage, she burst into tears and her teacher had to run out to collect Veronica from the audience. She was then signed up for soccer and was far more interested in that. Veronica still has the picture of Scary in her recital outfit in her wallet bc Scary couldn’t stand the idea of it hanging up in the house around Terry Jr.
