VR is a really weird space to play in because there are a lot of games with very similar core mechanics (because bows and guns are the most immersive kind of violence you can model in VR), but the controls aren't yet uniform. That's pretty normal for video games, but it's extremely weird when your main input is, uh, your body.

Like, let's take reloading a handgun and look at the process in three different games you can play using the Quest 2 via one method or another.

Fallout 4 VR: press the A button, wait for the animation to finish, done; you cannot grip the handgun in anyway with your offhand.

Resident Evil 4 VR: press your offhand grip button while your hand is near your ammo pouch on the front left of your waist, move your offhand so that the magazine enters the handgun, hold your offhand near the top of the handgun and hold the grip button while pulling back to rack the slide; you cannot grip the handgun in anyway with your offhand.

Pavlov: press the B button to eject the handgun's magazine, press your offhand trigger button to grab a magazine from your ammo bag on your left hip, move your offhand so that the magazine enters the handgun securely, hold your offhand near the top of the handgun and hold the trigger button while pulling back to rack the slide; move your offhand to the bottom of the handgun's grip and hold the grip button to stabilize the handgun with your offhand.

Fallout Casting for Ryomen Sukuna Matata for Jujutsu Kaisen Abridged react fic

"Fuck school! Be crime! Do gay!" - Ryomen Sukuna, Episode 2 JJK Abridged (by the Schmuck Squad).

Reasons To Why I Believe These Characters Should Be Casted listed below the cut:

Richard Grey/The Master (the leader of the Super Mutant Army and the main antagonist of Fallout (1997), seeking to evolve humanity into super mutants with the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV), however, is stopped by the Vault Dweller, Elrand Brandt, and his companions via the power of persuasion) -> Mostly the grotesque way his body is morphed and stuff, but you can imagine his mouth opening on Ryder's body like Sukuna does on Itadori's body.

Sulik (a tribal looking to save his sister in Fallout 2, was saved by the Chosen One, Finidy Mona, and joined her as a companion to find the GECK, while she also helps him save his sister from slavers) -> It's mostly his tattoos that got me to choose him as a potential candidate.

Stanislaus Braun (the Overseer of Vault 112 in Fallout 3, Braun is a sadistic old man who regularly tortures his captives in a world of virtual reality, but had known the location and use of the GECK, which lead James Dolen to seek him out (only to be transformed into a dog), but was later outwitted by Alph inside the VR world and Amata from within Vault 112) -> Evil for the sake of being evil? Hates a kid for no reason? Would definitely take over somebody's body if given the chance? Sukuna candidate.

Yes Man (a securitron Benny had tampered with to help him overthrow House, is key to the Independent Vegas ending of Fallout New Vegas. Courier Six, aka Ryder, finds him in Benny's penthouse, and teams up with the securitron to save Benny from Caesar and overthrow House together) -> Listen he's too cheery for his own good. And sarcastic too. Like Abridged Sukuna.

DiMA (the synth co-leader of Acadia in Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC. He is also the "brother" of Nick Valentine, the person who gets the Sole Survivor, Nate, to admit that he's likely a synth himself and has been involved in the sketchy shit around Far Harbor) -> Though the least potent candidate, what cannot be denied is that DiMA disregards everything about morality when it comes to doing what he thinks is the ways things should be.

The Scorchbeast Queen (the motherfucking progenitor of the Scorched disease and the final boss of Fallout 76 (if players nuke her nest at Fissure Site Prime). The Resident, Vega, only survives her encounter with the Scorchbeast Queen because of the FEV that had partly transformed her) -> She looks as ugly as Sukuna's fingers.

John Henry Eden (the President who runs the Enclave in Fallout 3, has all the personalities of the past presidents copied and downloaded into his A.I. He intended to use the water purifier to release a modified FEV into the water to kill anyone with a trace of radiation in them. He attempted to get Amata onboard with this plan, but since it would technically kill Alph, Amata convinced the president to give her the virus to "use" and tricked Eden into self-destructing and run like hell while Raven Rock fell down around her, towards Alph and his companions who were fighting outside trying to get to her inside) -> Eden and Sukuna are all aboard the murder express.

Dean Domino (one of Ryder's temporary companions in Fallout New Vegas Dead Money DLC. He was friends with Frederick Sinclair and had used Vera Keyes to get him one step closer to the Sierra Madre vault, however America being nuked interrupted this heist and lead him to being ghoulified, and while trying to get into the Sierra Madre, had been forced by Father Elijah to help him get into the resort. Dean eventually betrays Ryder inside the Sierra Madre, having been unable to comprehend someone could be as smart as him, which leads to him getting filled with lead) -> Dean Domino is a selfish bastard, Ryomen Sukuna is a selfish bastard.

Dr Klein (a brain apart of the Think Tank in Fallout New Vegas Old World Blues DLC, he was the director of the Big MT. His speakers are set on a loud volume and he is quite an arrogant punk. Klein and the rest of the Think Tank had vivisected Ryder, taking her heart and spine (and losing her brain to Dr. Mobius) and would only allow her to leave if she dealt with Mobius and gave them the resources to explore the Mojave from the safety of Big MT) -> As loud as Abridged Sukuna is.

Ishmael Ashur (the leader of the Pitt in Fallout 3 The Pitt DLC, though he is the big boss of slavers and raiders, Ashur is trying to humanely find a cure for the Trog which his daughter Marie seems to be immune to. However, the Lone Wanderer, Alph's appearance in the Pitt shakes things up) -> If Ashur just lost his benevolent intentions behind his actions and was doing things for the evils, he could be a lot like Sukuna.

God (the alter who acts as the "conscience" to a nightkin called Dog in Fallout New Vegas Dead Money DLC, he looks out for Dog and wants to kill Father Elijah so badly. Ryder helps both Dog and God make peace with each other and merge them both into a new personality) -> God is the voice in Dog's head, and his voice is quite menacing. Like Sukuna, though Sukuna is more malevolent than God.

Remember, for the alternative option, REBLOG and put in the tags WHO else from the Fallout franchise should be Abridged!Megumi and WHY you think they'd better suit the role. Also if there is a tie, then a repost will be made with only the tied candidates, and you'd have to pick from them.

I wasn't sure if I should do this chronologically, or in order of how much I've simped for these people, so let's just get to it:

P.S.: you'll get kudos (and maybe candy) if you pick up on the common themes here.

1. Zuko - ATLA

He was my first fictional crush.

I would write self insert fic about him (which never saw the light of AO3 thankfully), and I would rewatch all of ATLA just to his character go from "I can fix him" brat to adorkable edgy brat.

2. Bill Cipher - Gravity Falls

He had what I at the time called the "sexy British accent". I never even joined the school of thought "he'd burn the whole world down but me". I was chill with burning.

3. Bucky Barnes - MCU

And the bad boy parade continues. I firmly believed that I could fix him, and going back to the (once again thankfully unpublished) self insert slash fics of the time, I realise that I had no idea what in him needed fixing.

4. John Hancock - Fallout 4

Nothing makes me fall harder for a sad meow meow than him going "I'm gonna stop bugging you with my problems, I know I'm too fucked up to love".

I have a save file right before that convo, and I like to revisit it every so often.

5. Egor Serling - Deathloop

While on the topic of sad meow meows, let me introduce you to mister "I've been invisible my whole life 🥺". He's pathetic and slightly unhinged, what is there not to love? ( y/n in my fic about him agrees).

6. David Sarif - Deus Ex

It's hard to pick only one character from the DX games, but I think "Daddy Sarif", as I affectionately call him whenever he's brought up in conversation, belongs here.

He is rich, smart, and believes the illuminati want to tear down his company (and has 0 evidence to back that up).

7. Crosshair - Clone Wars: the Bad Batch

A sad meow meow, a bad boy, and white hair? Can a man be more perfect? Well he's also a sniper ...

He's like Egor, but he'll talk back when you tell him to get on his knees, you know?

8. Billie Lurk - Dishonored

You know the jist by this point, sad, with questionable morals, daddy issues, and missing an arm.

My favourite thing about her is how she goes "this is a robbery" with an audible smirk, as she robs a bank. And also that she kept the creepy art project her girlfriend gave her a decade ago. How sweet is that?

I need to write a self-insert x her fic. But I don't have any Dishonored OCs :/

9. Alyx Vance - Half Life

She was my first girl crush. And I still remember the exact moment I went "damn that chick is cool". It was shortly after reuniting with Barney, when I had to shoot my way through some stupid combine stronghold, and Alyx just crawled through the vents and waited for me on the other side.

(She is the reason I have £500 saved to one day buy a VR set)

10. Bo-Katan Kryze - the Mandalorian (no this isn't cheating, it's a different sub-fandom XP)

Is she just a mommy version of Alyx? Maybe. But the Mandalorian (the TV series), sure helped with the popularity of her character... (I'm talking about that one ass scene).

She also has that sad kitty side to her, when she sits alone in her massive space castle after all her friends have left her.

Translating (Your Love Language) by Goth-Bias (series of drabbles, T rated)

Chapter 1 is saimomoharu and it's short and sweet. Shuichi hears Maki and Kaito having a little love confession and thinks he's excluded from it. A small crisis ensures. There's also an angsty post-game saimaki ficlet in chapter 4! :') it is so painful yet so good.

Post-game fic! Everyone is alive/killing game was a VR. Maki breaks into Shuichi's house to tell him that she remembers everything, and has found Kaito. Shuichi follows her to see him. It's simple and short but every chapter moved me :')

Grassblades by munchyleaf (~2k words, T rated)

This felt like a missing scene from the game itself, which I hope is telling enough that I would like more people to read it! Takes place sometime after Maki gets invited to train with Kaito and Shuichi too, and Kaito skips training, so Shuichi gets time to process his trauma along with Maki. I'm not finding many fics of just the two of them interacting, so this was really nice :)

The trio lay down after a workout and talk about stars. Everyone is written perfectly in character here, it's incredibly immersive and feels like an event that is missing from the game too!!!

Do I Dance Inside Your Head? by an orphaned account (~1k words, I'd put this as T rated personally. there's no rating warning, but there is one mention of Shuichi waking from a wet dream)

at some point last year, i said i wanted to see a fic where maki and kaito get together first and then shuichi gets sad about it, and THIS IS THAT FIC. It's a little fast paced, but for the exact dynamic i want alone this goes in my recs.

Good News for All You Murder Fans by Inkyrius (~800 words, G rated)

The trio are on a date, and their date gets interrupted by a dead body in the middle of a park. I love this short fic a lot because the author really nails their dynamic!

Stargazing by ToxicPineapple (~3.3k words, G rated)

The trio lay down after a workout and talk about stars. Everyone is written perfectly in character here, it's incredibly immersive and feels like an event that is missing from the game!!!

Cosmicpoet is still my favourite saimomoharu go-to for writing like, 11 fics of them, many of which deal with post-game/in-game angst with the right amount of gravity, but some of which are much lighter in tone. In some of their saimomoharu fic they also directly acknowledge the trio as lovers, which I adore. Here's my favourites:

the world's still spinning around, we don't know why (~3k words, T rated) (TW for attempted suicide)

Shuichi attempts suicide and deals with the fallout of it. It's heavy, and also shows Kaito and Maki coping with the trauma of the killing game with alcoholism and gambling. But they all try together. Ends on a small hopeful note.

i had all and then most of you, some and now none of you (~1.5k words, G rated) (there's some mild talk of suicide in here too)

Post-game, killing game was a VR au. They all get matching tattoos on a sleepless night. While it's in a heavy tone, they all try to find comfort in each other in dark times, which I like.

this year (~1k words, G rated)

God this was so cute. Kaito plans some nice gifts for both Maki and Shuichi. I won't spoil any more just please know that I adore it.

friday night dinner (~1k words, G rated)

I'm rec-ing this for the line "mere fractions in the equation of the love that they have for each other" alone, which sold me even more on this cute fluffy platonic dinner get-together.

TheBrightSilverLining has written a whole series for training trio week, and I adore all of them so much! I can't just pick one to recommend from this series, so here's two:

How to Survive a Fifteen Hour Plane Ride (~3.3k words, T rated)

Like the title says, the trio are on a plane ride together to Novoselic, and as someone who's had to endure longer plane rides this was all too relatable. Their dynamic as friends is written so well here and it's hilarious and heart warming. This fic is a good time!

Pictures on the Wall (~3.6k words, T rated)

This fic is a canon divergent AU and full angst. Made my heart ache in the best way it could :> I wont say any more aside from the fact that this was super intriguing from start to finish, and I will 100% read it again for the roller coaster of emotions

In Black and White by Riona (~1.2 k words, G rated)

Less saimomoharu and more saimota + momoharu, this is also a short read. Post-game, closer to canon-compliant. Shuichi reads Team Danganronpa's production notes about his fictionalized profile, and talks to Maki a bit about it.

Close Your Eyes by Riona (~2.1 k words, T rated)

More of a Shuichi/Everyone, but with an overarching one-sided saimota, this fic resembles a little more like a collection of thoughts about the ethics of the love hotel sequences. There's a funny section in there where Kokichi has a little talk with Shuichi about the heart keys.

Midnight, The Stars and You by ultimate_heartache (~8k words, T rated)

Kaito invites Shuichi out for a road trip, and gay shenanigans ensure :D this author has written a lot of saiouma fics too if anyone's interested, I love his prose-like writing style!

Relieved by ToxicPineapple (~3.2k words, T rated)

Caught me off guard!! I knew I would be reading angst, but it comes with a nice comfort near the end. Definitely gave some nice closure for post-game saimota

Trans Kaito and trans Shuichi, what's not to love! It follows mostly Kaito's point of view as he struggles to navigate his internalized homophobia while also being a trans man. The author's done good research in making it feel like it's set in Japan.

My first thought is "my god Labo is underutilized," perhaps deservedly so. I know it was never meant to be a whole honkin' Oculus competitor, but I feel like I don't ever hear about anything made for it, and the stuff I do hear about seems super half-baked.

But also... yeah, I can't see Captain Toad benefitting much from Labo VR. I bet the diorama look is kinda cool in the 3D format, the level design might even be able to take advantage of the added depth. Otherwise, it sounds gimmicky. Maybe it's that I'm woefully unacquainted with VR—I've only really played Beat Saber, and my gut response to any experience that isn't first-person is "...why?" The format is definitely in its infancy, and I haven't paid enough attention to what devs are doing with it beyond Worse ports of existing games (Fallout 4 VR and especially Breath of the Wild VR come to mind).

Just a heads up if anyone doesn't already have it. If you do get it, don't bother with the texture pack or the Creation Club stuff. IMO it's much better modded, but there is a lot to learn. If you've never played it, it's a good idea to play it on vanilla at least once - unless you have a disability or something like me. There's a VR version, but I don't know much about it. Recommended mods if you are getting them? Heather, Darlene are the best companions. Atomic Radio and Tales from the Commonwealth has some good quests, and I love the Audrey NPC. Mods that skip the far harbor Dima's memory quest are a good idea, as are ones for the starcores of Nuka World. As you get more advanced, Liga of my companions is worth checking out. F4SE is pretty useful; and there are memory extenders etc. I really wish bethesda had fixed some of the damned bugs and improved base game stability. Make a lot of saves and back them up somewhere. Sometimes you lose them. This is amazingly enraging.

But when everything works, this game can be glorious.
