Laughing at all the asks on your blog thatre just people coming over to say "ur writing makes me feel like French bread". Non non, your writing is more baguette than pain, so soft, yet with much of that good crunch that you really gotta use your teeth on. *knashes through your works*. Anyway, have a nice day bonkus
MY WRITING IS BREAD IN FRENCH AHAHAHA 🥖 you heard it here first guys. thank you to this "anon" (@speedyowl152 you're sus) for reforming my own writing self-image in one ask ❤️❤️❤️❤️

👓 🦈 🤩 for the ask! 💖
👓 What helps you focus when you write? Scrivener Composition Mode! Because it's Full Screen +, and it keeps your words centered like a typewriter, and you can't just click over to Tumblr to check out what's going on without exiting the mode, so if I put it in that mode, I can make myself focus on the story for longer chunks of time even if I'm picking up my phone every 3 minutes to check discord.
🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?
I feel like it's Louis, because he's just so internal and I've said this before, he speaks like a regular person but he also has a unique voice, so if you just write him talking like anyone it sounds wrong. You just have to really nail it. (Insert naughty joke here.) And I struggle a lot with making him sound how I want him to sound in my head.
Lestat also can be a challenge, because he's over the top but he has moods and he's so expressive but he's a little easier once you figure out his motivation/mindset.
🤩 What led to your interest in the fandom?
I read Interview with the Vampire at the age of 12 and it left a mark on me. And the next few books did the same. The fandom is where I find people who had similar experiences and who also love these ridiculous vampires. I feel like I've made more friends in the VC fandom over the years than anywhere else, to be honest. VC fans are super cool folks and I have so much fun writing about and talking about these idiots we all love so much.

Have three emojis!: 🎶🛒😅
Thank you so much!
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
I do! It's usually how I write most days, the music depends on what I'm writing. I have playlists for ships or specific OCs of mine and will play that while I'm writing something for that ship or character. This is the song I've had on repeat a lot lately.
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
Answered here and here
😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
Tbh, I'm always embarrassed about my smut writing. It's hard for me to not feel weird about it lol even if I AM getting better at writing it.

💌🌻🎁^^
Thank you, @laireshi!
[If anyone else would like to send questions, here they are.]
🌻 How often do you read your own fics?
ALL THE TIME. Like, honestly, I probably reread my own fic more often than I do other people's fic when all is said and done. That's the advantage of self-indulgently writing for yourself and having no shame about your own past writing. ^_^
💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write?
Oh, hurt/comfort, hands down. ^_^ There's just something about taking an otherwise strong character, breaking them down into little pieces by the method of your choice, and then having someone who loves them tenderly help them put themselves back together again. I can't get enough of it. ^_^
🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
I... haven't been doing much writing recently, and what little I've done, I've already shown you. XD
I think I'll come back to this one later. OTZ

🥰🤯and or 🦅? (three hearts, mindblown, and eagle also)(if its hard to see)
🥰 How do you feel about reader interaction? Are you open to receiving questions about your fics?
yes hello please interact, i have zero braincells but i like people saying nice things about my things
(im bad at answering comments on ao3 but rest assured my ass is hoarding those things like gold)
🤯 What’s a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
100% no stakes soft tooth-rotting fluff
inevitably someone will end up putting some kind of angst in it
to a lesser extent romance/smut bc i have no personal experience in either so romance is gonna look a lot different than the Stereotypical Norm and idk whats actually hot vs whats the whore of the character being turned on by
count "embodiment of hedonism" lucio is not a standard by which smut should be measured
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
technically both: the outline is more of a guideline than strict rules, but not writing down the general idea of events you want to happen is a great way to forget all of them
it's guided pants flying, more like gliding

16, 18, and 19 for the fanfic asks if you’re still doing them! They’re so fun lol
Thank you friend!!! 🥺🥺🥺 these ARE fun, it’s like ‘me,,, process,,”
16. where is your favorite place to write?
My favorite place to write is my bedroom— not because it’s where I get my best ideas. I get those doing the dishes and waiting for the train and in losing stretches of time. It’s my favorite place to write because it’s safe and closed and only for me. I’ve got four walls and I’ll bundle down comfortably, obsessively until I can get it ‘right’.
18. what is your most and least favorite part of writing?
My favorite part about writing is the giddy spirit of words flowing at my fingertips. It satisfies a natural curiosity of mine to figure out what my ideas look like on paper and how to make them work. If I can??? I learn by doing and this is doing!!!
My least favorite part about writing is how thoroughly the process proves that my mind vacuum isn’t as profound a place as it feels like it is. You put something on paper and you realize that it doesn’t make sense to anybody but you, and that makes you feel so useless. Makes you feel you’re acting way more self important and pretentious than you are in reality. It makes me feel like a real dickhead!
19. what are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?
Authors in no particular order:
Langston Hughes
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Stephen King
Mithen (ao3)
Books/Literary works (this one is a little more scattered and perhaps a tad dishonest lmao I’m 100% excluding works that would make me embarrassed)
He Visits My Town Once a Year - Amir Krushrow
Night Shift - Stephen King
Speech Sounds - Octavia Butler
The Glass Menagerie - Tennessee Williams

#29 for the writer ask meme!
29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
Oh man, it’s so hard to come up with an answer for this. Like, for the most part, I feel like I’d just mess it up if I ever actually tried to write a sequel or prequel fic for someone else’s work. I’ve also read so many fics through the years, it’s hard to remember which ones I wished had a sequel so much that I had that thought of, I could write one myself. Mostly what comes to mind are forever WIPs, but even then, I wouldn’t know which direction the original writer wanted to go...
Maybe something for after this ficlet that @urisarang wrote. I’ve written a sort-of sequel to one of their fics before, and also if I wrote a part 2, I would finally know whether Steve makes it out of there okay 😂

💛 What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing?
I think it's honestly to take all of the writing rules and advice people bandy about with a big grain of salt. You just have to find what works for you.
And that goes for the process of writing--whether it's the software you use, or how many words you write per day (none is okay!), or what conditions you need like music or silence--and also the mechanics of writing. Some people write gorgeous flowery paragraphs and detailed descriptions. Some people write awesome snappy dialogue and don't go deep in describing the room. Etc. etc.
There is no Magical Writing Method that makes anyone write better.
And there's no Magical Style of Writing that's superior. Everyone has their own voice and their own style and it'd be boring otherwise.
The best method is the method that helps you get words on the page. The best style is the one that makes you happy when you write that way.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
I answered part of this already here but I feel a lot of my imagery includes eyes, expressions, the way a person looks and how that makes the POV character feel or react. I enjoy the small moments the most, the inbetween.

Okay here are the answers, as promised in that other post.
— How long have you been writing fanfiction?
I first posted fic in 2001 so yes I am extremely ancient according to tumblr. (I feel like when I was young I thought "old" started at like 60, like a granny age, but I've seen fandom call 35 year olds "old people" so idk and also I worry a bit about when these kids hit what they think of as old age.)
— Do you have a favorite word? (One that you love. Doesn’t necessarily have to be one you use all the time.)
"Proximity." I use it a lot, even and especially in filth. It's a good word. Probably because it has an X in the middle, which makes it seem eXotic.
— Share a favorite run-on sentence that you’ve written.
Possibly cheating because it was co-written so long ago that I have no idea who thought of it but:
He really was really really hungry He wondered if the Doctor would have any food in the drinks cabinet He meandered out along the endless similar-looking corridors until he found the object in question so hungry that he started eating the punctuation in this paragraph
— Share a bit of a scene that you’ve written that still gives you FEELS.
Oh gosh, what kind of feels? I'll go and look at what I have on the AO3. Hrm. I'm gonna chicken out and say something that makes me laugh counts as feels, because idk why that feels less like I am giving away my inner thoughts. So.
Donna was impressed, there was no way this could possibly be a quarry in Wales, or even in the south of England. “This is fantastic!” There were flying cars and strange alien clouds -- all manner of things that would have to be done with CGI.
(Dr Who is very much a fandom that lends itself to stupid meta'y jokes about itself and I love that.)
— What is your favorite kind of character interaction to write? — Do you have a hyper-specific genre?
Banter? That counts, right? I like when you get characters just like... shooting dialogue at each other. And sometimes it means you get stuck with a killer line that you don't know to follow up on but it's generally a fun time for all concerned.
— Any personal or frequently used tags?
"other is alien/spaceship love" is an old fave. semi-recently I have been enjoying "oh [NAME] no" when characters are being awful or stupid or both. I have a Popular Tumblr Post about the importance of "let's get you out of those wet clothes". Recently I enjoyed using "(it's not knifeplay if they don't get off on it right?)"
— Share a joke or funny moment that you’ve written that still makes you laugh.
I just found this one and I laughed so I'll say this one (it is from a cracky 12-Clara thing):
She wanted to kiss him, but she usually wanted to kiss him so it didn't necessarily mean anything. Also she kind of needed the toilet, but she could hold it in until the crisis was over. “I don't care about your budgetary limitations,” she said, kindly.
— Best editing tip?
Just Say No.
(I don't really know how to edit things I just kind of write them and hope for the best. I realise this means I *could* be writing better fic than I am, but I'm doing it for free and I have enough stress in my life so whatever.)
— What drives you to write?
Spite? Sometimes, anyway. Mostly it's just for something to do.
— Share something about your writing that you have wished someone would ask you about. Or alternatively, something that you are just really proud of.
I don't know, I'll skip this one. (It said I could!)
— Where do you draw inspiration?
(same)
— What is your immediate reaction when you receive a new comment on a fic?
"OMG!! I hope it's not a complaint D: It's probably not a complaint. It's fine, it's probably something nice or a pretty emoji."
(Yeah I have anxiety WHAT OF IT??!!)
— What is your biggest challenge in writing?
At the moment it is getting this stupid fic finished it's taken fuckin ages and I'm getting annoyed with it but now I *have* to finish since I've made it this far.
— 1-2 sentence preview from your current WIP?? (Only if you are willing.)
Oh no, I'll go and look. There aren't many jokes in this one, and I feel extra-anxious about things that aren't jokes so I'll go with this bit:
He sits upright, looks at her carefully. “I’m willing to admit that if we were to judge it purely on looks then you’re the superior Loki.”
Sylvie pretends to be thinking it over. “Oh, I don’t know, that alligator was quite...”
— What story or scene are you most proud of?
Idk, probably something nobody else likes, because isn't that always the way?
— Please link your profile so we can admire your works!
OKAY MEME DONE now I can go back to failing to write things. Hooray!
