I find it interesting how Urianger went from “…Speak thy mind. I do not expect thy forgiveness” to “even if you hate me forever, let me go with you and possibly sacrifice myself for you if needed”

His relationship with the WoL always intrigued me, shipping not withstanding. Because of all the scions he was most distant, and we really only get a sense of him through the extreme trials quests, and barely at that. We know that he worries about us each time we go and feels some guilt about sending us out to kill the primals. But it’s not in a “you’re my dear friend” sort of way, but a “uh you’re vital to the world’s safety and it’d be really bad if you died”

Which makes me wonder, when exactly did the switch happen? In his tone toward us? I personally don’t think it was post Heavensward, because when he apologized it wasn’t really towards us, it was more towards the scions in general, especially Alisaie, but not really at us.

Part of me wonders if he, ever, held some contempt towards us just as much as he blamed himself for Moenbryda’s demise. Even after we avenged her death, he’s still “mad” at us. He knows how strong we are plus being Hydaelyn’s chosen one, and maybe thinks “well if they’re so strong why couldn’t they save her”.

Though, I understand these are two different situations of course, one he was sacrificing Minifilia and the other was him directly sacrificing the exarch and severely endangering our own lives. The former was already kind of dead whereas he has to face us every time we get worse as the story went on plus possibly letting the exarch die. Furthermore, it’s likely that he considered the worst case scenario in which we become a light warden and the exarch couldn’t carry out the plan for whatever reason. So I would say there’s more at risk.

I don’t know, it just fascinates me.

Haven't posted in Tumblr for quite a bit but finished a build for a friend, RL work/studies to be a UX designer was kinda tangled!

But Sabine is finally in the Wicked Winds Establishment! Ahem!! Side note-

Even tho I have not been able to post here, I did write in her "Diary" on how is her arrival, was kind of a mess because a friend (who saddly quit the game not so long ago helped me in there?) Long story short I was gonna ease in with an NPC inside the FC so I can meet the staff but "Zazamo" ( the player who quit) was at my FC on a random day and started to speak with "Sjol the caretaker" and started to rp that I was kidnapped there! So my idea fell apart but I'll make it work for posting it later XD it was funny tho and I didn't know how to react, was kinda sudden. So I'll post a diary entry of Zazamo's last grand endeavor, I might have some old pictures I saved up hopefully. Plus I think it would be nice to make an entry about a player who dedicated time with me right? I find that fair :)!

But either than that! Sabine is finally well dressed xD in *cough* Sjols old clothes...which she looks adorable, and finally got rid of the old cod smell after so many showers! To read more on this you can visit on the wordpress site here would be Diary entry: 7.0 & 7.1

Also the spooky yet grumpy figure "Bill" who helped Sabine get a good start for her interview on making a good impression isn't so bad!

He man's the barkeep when everyone has to work in other chores.. But the good news is: He isn't really a serial killer! He just looks like one!

You know, I wish we had the option to condemn Urianger and G’hara during Shadowbringer; the closest we get to that is telling Urianger “No more lies”.

Straight up, “I cannot forgive you” or “I cannot trust you anymore”

I don’t care, they fucked us over for the “greater good”, because they knew we wouldn’t and couldn’t say no to saving the first and the source. They knew we wouldn’t sit idly by and let the calamity happen. They took advantage of the fact bc we are the WoL/champion, and just assumed we would handle the responsibility. I think they’re great characters, but to ignore the fact that they manipulated us, and refused to let us properly choose between life and death when it’s our lives doesn’t sit right with me. Chances are, it would have been a nearly identical playthrough if they were just transparent with us from the get go. This is also the second time Urianger has done this to us; baiting us and the Warriors of Darkness just so we can use our crystals to give light to Hydaelyn. All that talk about feeling guilty for his arrogance and manipulating everyone in post Heavensword and defying fate yet he’s back on his bullshit. Even in Endwalker, he doesn’t really acknowledge using us and exploiting us— only his guilt for Minfilia, the Exarch, Moenbryda, and it’s like??? Umm?? Did you forget the death path you agreed to put us on a few weeks/months ago? We literally almost became a light warden because you thought we could handle it. He never truly apologizes to the WoL, and I wonder if he thinks we’ll just get over it, so he doesn’t bother. He definitely opened up to us, but (in my opinion) he’s not a good friend. Not yet, anyways. Mind you, I simp this man but it would stupid of me to ignore these major flaws of his.

We’ve been through too much up to that point, (we probably have some degree of trauma(s)), just for others to take that autonomy away from us. For other characters to do “what’s best” for us, and not allowing us to have a say. It’s also a meta critique in the lack of choices we have in the game play, and our dialogue choices not having much influence on our relationships with characters. We’re forced to be this goody two shoes, happy go lucky type of hero with no room for grey morality. Yes, we can be snarky and rude but it’s not the same. There’s only one path and we get roped around back into it even if we try to diverge. Hell, the game acknowledges this in one of the aether current blue quests.

I think that’s why Y’Shtola shot up to my top favorite characters— she was already a great character, but she was the only one before the reveal calling Urianger and the Exarch out on their bullshit and how they were hurting us by keeping us in the dark. Alisaie as well, for that matter, though she was already top fave.
