AUROX - The North Sky Pokemon - Mythical
Aurox may or may not exist. There are multiple accounts from different people who claim to have met it, and their descriptions line up. However, no proper evidence such as photographs have been discovered.
The legend goes that if you get lost in the deadly north, alone and afraid, the sky will spark with northern lights, followed by the Pokemon leading you to safety before vanishing.
Due to the details above: art of it is very popular on bags, postcards and other merchandise. People travel far and wide to come see the lights, and perhaps be the first to photograph Aurox.
The rangers of the region aren’t very happy with people purposefully endangering themselves...
“Revontuli” is the finnish word for northern lights, which is a combination of the word repo (older word for fox) and tuli (fire). This is because of a myth that northern lights are made by a fox swishing their tail against the snow. I feel like that’s an IDEAL inspiration for a mythical pokemon... Because it’s cute. That’s what those are for right.......
ALSO No idea what type they should be. Fairy? Ice? Dark? Fighting? If anyone who knows more about Pokemon has ideas, I’m all ears.

A fakemon I recently made based off of the national flower of Finland.
In finnish Kielo
In english Lily of the valley
I haven’t decided on a name for it yet but it’s either Grass/Poison type or Grass/Ghost type. These Pokemon also live in colonies in the wild for protection and to mark their terretory, they don’t usually appreciate unsuspected visitors... Though some may find them cute they are also predators. They like to eat Oddishes in the wild sometimes because they look like big berries.
Though dangerous in the wild these Pokemon are also very popular in their national region due to the beautiful flower they grow on their heads. The flowers gives off a beautiful smell that is usually used in perfumes for example. The flowers are also used as a sign of love and as medicine for the poison effect your Pokemon can get.
These Pokemon sometimes also travel afar from their home to look for a new one. Sometimes it may happen to travel into your backyard if the soil is good enough and settle down there, so keep an eye out or you may accidentally lure a surprise visitor into your backyard!
This section is more based on backstory and origin lore
It’s said that before humans and Pokemon lived together in harmony this Pokemon didn’t exist yet. It was before humans started to die to the poison of a beautiful, uniqe flower found in the wild. Some say these Pokemon are the souls of the dead people, coming back as possessed plants of the flower that once killed them.  But wait! Isn’t that JUST a story to be read to children to teach them not to touch and consume unknown plants?
Others on the other hand don’t believe in this at all, instead they believe this Pokemon did exist but they were too well hidden to be seen because they started to die from their own poison. Overtime they evolved to adjust to their dangerous poison to not be wiped out as a species and to survive. Some professors actually believe in this story more and are trying to figure out the origins of this Pokemon.
Which story do you believe in more? Do you believe in the more.. “logical” explanation that they used to die from their own poison? Or do you believe that some bed time stories just are true...

so a couple years back i did some trainer and gym leader concepts for a pokemon region based on finland!
i didn’t get very far in designing any actual pokemon since that’s really not my strong suit but i wanted to revisit the idea and put more effort into the pokemon....my favorite is probably the legendary based on aurora borealis (revontulet, “fox fires” in finnish)
for fun i decided to include a bunch of concepts and also half-baked ideas that didn’t end up on the actual drawing (my favorite’s the nokia ghost)
plus the starters! before you ask the idea behind a fire type fish was mostly due to the finnish word for dragon being “salmon snake”....which is a reach considering it’s not even a salmon there but i honestly had a very hard time thinking about fire types for this concept so that was the best i could do lol

Minkit [Fire/Fairy] Species: Stoat Pokemon Length: 0.4 m (1’04’’) Weight: 5.8 kg (12.8 lbs) Ability: Cute Charm, Flame Body Hidden Ability: Pixilate
Minkit stats HP- 40 ATK- 50 DEF- 40 SP ATK- 55 SP DEF- 40 SPD- 75 Total: 300
Minkit dex entry Despite being Fire types, these mischievous little Pokemon tend to be found most often in colder regions, explaining their light colored fur. Minkit has two coats of thick, heat-insulating fur, but just in case that isn’t enough their tail is also alight on fire to keep them warm during harsh weather conditions like blizzards. Their own flames cannot hurt them, so they can curl their tail around them like a blanket without any worries.
Thermine [Fire/Fairy] Species: Stoat Pokemon Length: 0.8 m (1’08’’) Weight: 7.5 kg (16.5 lbs) Ability: Cute Charm, Flame Body Hidden Ability: Pixilate
Thermine stats HP- 65 ATK- 75 DEF- 60 SP ATK- 95 SP DEF- 60 SPD- 115 Total: 470
Thermine dex entry Thermine can control its flames with the utmost precision and care, but they are still banned from most public libraries and offices. In the wild, they are rather elusive and will typically try to hide from trainers unless it changes its mind or feels as if it has no other choice. There are tales of trainers following its flickering green flames into the woods and finding treasure and long-forgotten secrets, buried in the snow.
These guys were almost as complicated to make as Chrytah and the xolo fakemon. Though the xolo fakemon is definitely still harder, because I’ve been planning it for about a month now and nothing is still working-
Anyways, Thermine and Minkit are the wintery Fairy-type version-exclusive to Sprinkeel and Crempup.
I based them somewhat off the Finnish belief that foxfires make the aurora borealis, but I didn’t want to make them foxes because we have too many foxes in Pokemon already. Plus I thought ‘Thermine’ was a great name idea so I made them ermines.
I made them Fire/Fairy because the aurora borealis is caused by solar flares, and also because I mainly based them off of the idea of ‘fairy fire’ AKA ‘fox fire’ AKA bio-luminescence in animals that’s greenish blue, so, yeah.
Minkit is a combination of ‘mink’ and ‘kit’, while Thermine is a combination of ‘thermal’ and ‘ermine’. I’m still really proud of Thermine-
Anyways, as for what I’ll do next? I don’t know! But my classes start on Monday so I suppose you could say my days are numbered, eheh....

HELSINKI NOMINATED FOR POKEMON GO SAFARI ZONE EVENT
Helsinki has been nominated as a location for the Safari Zone event of the smash hit AR-based mobile game Pokemon Go by Niantic. Pokemon Go Helsinki published their nomination video on Tuesday the 24th of September.
The proposed location is the Töölö Bay area with its surrounding parks right in the heart of Helsinki with direct access to the Helsinki railway station and multiple attractions that host in-game locations known as pokestops and gyms.
Pokemon Go Helsinki ask for as many likes on their nomination video they can get in order to get Niantic's attention and be chosen to host the event in Helsinki in the summer of 2020. Hastag #NianticLive2020 is where the video was originally published on Twitter.
Similar events have been previously held in places such as Japan, Taiwan, Germany and Denmark, in around 3-4 locations around the world every year since the game's launch in 2016. The events have brought in players in tens of thousands from around the world and typically include special event-exclusive content such as boosted rates of shiny pokemon, rare pokemon, regional pokemon not typically found in the area and different forms of the always elusive Unown.
Pokemon Go is a highly popular and thriving mobile game in Finland, and globally with over 60 million active players. The summer and fall of 2019 has reportedly been the game's most profitable time period since their skyrocketing launch in the summer of 2016, mostly thanks to the introduction of new gameplay features such as player vs. player matches, pokestop submissions, and events such as the Safari Zone that have engaged players with new content consistently throughout the summer, and eventually built up the hype for the introduction to the Fifth Generation of new Pokemon earlier in September.
Helsinki City and the local players are pumped for the potential opportunity of hosting the event, and welcome you with their top notch cellural coverage, unlimited data of Finnish telephone carriers (upon purchase), excellent and accessible public transport, pleasant temperatures, practically nightless nights, safe and clean environment and a thick coverage of attractions and pokestops!
Trainers! Smash the video's like-button and see you in Helsinki!

If there’s something that bothers me with Pokemon.... it’s the fact that Kanto and Johto are actual finnish words and nowdays when I see those words in finnish context, I get so confused as to why some company has a Pokemon region in them or why someone wants to unplug cut Johto or why someone wants to rip off Kanto from the ground???
Disclaimer, Kanto is finnish for Tree Stump and Johto is finnish for both Wire and Leadership.

Great Britain and Germany Lead the Way as European App Spending Grows 17.6% to $2.85 billion in Q3 2019
Tumblr media
Mobile consumers across Europe spent an estimated $2.85 billion on apps across the App Store and Google Play in Q3 2019, according to Sensor Tower Store Intelligence data.
This represented a 17.6 percent increase on gross revenue generated in Q3 2018, based on user spend for in-app purchases, subscriptions, and premium apps. Based on data from our global Q3 2019 market report, launching next week, Europe accounts for 13 percent of global mobile app revenue.
In this report, we take a closer look into non-gaming and gaming app downloads and revenue figures across Europe, along with which countries are driving the market.
European Mobile App Revenue and Downloads
The App Store drove the greatest share in gross revenue in Europe during Q3 2019, generating $1.5 billion, up 19 percent Y/Y from Q3 2018. Google Play users, meanwhile, spent $1.3 billion on mobile apps, an increase of 15.9 percent from the same period last year.
In total, App Store spending made up 54.1 percent of total mobile gross revenue in Europe, with Google Play accounting for 45.9 percent.
That’s a closer share of revenue between the two stores than on a global level, as our recent worldwide report showed, where the App Store generated $14.2 billion, or 65 percent, in total spending, with Google Play accounting for $7.7 billion, or 35 percent.
Tumblr media
Google Play accounted for the lion’s share of downloads in Europe, generating 4.4 billion unique installs in Q3 2019, up 10.9 percent from four billion in Q3 2018. The number of downloads on the App Store increased 5.6 percent Y/Y from almost 1.6 billion unique installs in Q3 2018 to just below 1.7 billion in Q3 2019.
In total, the number of downloads across both stores increased by 9.4 percent from 5.6 billion to 6.1 billion last quarter.
Tumblr media
Europe’s Top Countries For Mobile App Revenue and Downloads
Great Britain was the largest mobile app revenue generator in Europe, taking $543.2 million in gross revenue in Q3 2019 across the App Store and Google Play, up 18.6 percent Y/Y. That was higher than Germany, where users spent $521.6 million, up 16.3 percent Y/Y, and France, which accrued $350.6 million, an increase of 18.4 percent Y/Y.
App Store user spend was highest in Great Britain, which accounted for $360.6 million, or 23.3 percent of all spending. Germany, however, was the leader for Google Play spend, generating $302.5 million, or 23.1 percent of the total.
Tumblr media
Russia generated by far the most downloads in the last quarter, picking up 1.3 billion unique installs, up from 1.1 billion in Q3 2018.
Great Britain generated the most downloads on the App Store in the quarter with 302.1 million unique installs, but it only ranked No. 7 on Google Play with 265.3 million downloads. Russia and Turkey took No. 1 and No. 2 on Android, picking up one billion and 617.8 million downloads, respectively.
Europe’s Top Mobile Apps
As with on a global basis, Tinder was the top grossing app in Europe in Q3 2019, generating $72 million in the region, up just 1.3 percent Y/Y. One of the fastest risers for the quarter was the Google One app. Released in 2018, it was the fifth highest grossing app in Europe last quarter, making $14.665 million despite not being available on the App Store.
Tumblr media
Facebook was the clear dominant force in Europe when it comes to downloads. WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and the Facebook app generated a combined 94.9 million unique installs in the quarter.
FaceApp saw a spurt of huge growth in in Q3, racking up nearly 13.7 million downloads in July 2019, its best month ever and up 2,152 percent month-on-month and 4,267 percent Y/Y. In total it generated nearly 18.1 million unique installs last quarter in Europe.
European Mobile Game Revenue and Downloads
Mobile games generated $1.9 billion in gross revenue in Q3 2019, up 14.4 percent from nearly $1.7 billion in Q3 2018. In total, gaming accounted for 66.2 percent of all mobile app revenue in Europe based on user spending.
Google Play users spent more money than their App Store counterparts, paying over $1 billion on gaming apps in the last quarter, up 13.8 percent from the year prior. Apple’s marketplace generated $835.4 million, an increase of 15.3 percent from Q3 2018.
Overall, Google Play represented 55.9 percent of total gaming revenue, while the App Store accounted for 44.1 percent.
For comparison, when taking into account worldwide gaming revenue, total user spending between Google Play and the App Store stood at a 60-40 split in favour of Apple’s marketplace in Q3 2019. In Europe however, Android is shown to be a greater driver of gaming revenue.
Tumblr media
Combined downloads across Europe grew 17.9 percent from 2.3 billion in Q3 2018 to 2.7 billion in Q3 2019. Unique installs on Google Play increased 20.3 percent Y/Y from approximately 1.8 billion to 2.1 billion in the last quarter. The number of App Store downloads rose 10 percent from 523.2 million to 576 million. Overall, Google Play accounted for 78.5 percent of total downloads in Europe, while the App Store made up 21.5 percent.
Tumblr media
Coin Master from Moon Active was the clear winner for the quarter, generating $68.9 million in Q3 2019, some $16.7 million more than the $52.2 million earned by Niantic’s location-based game Pokemon Go.
Finnish developer Supercell, however, performed the best in the top 10, with three games—Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, and Clash Royale—generating $116.3 million in gross revenue during the quarter.
Tumblr media
Good Job Games’s Fun Race 3D generated 30.2 million downloads for the quarter to take top spot in the download rankings. Mario Kart Tour from Nintendo, meanwhile, charged to 22.16 unique installs in the region despite its late September launch, ranking in third overall.
Sensor Tower will have further analysis of Q3 2019’s top publishers, apps, and trends soon.
Note: The revenue estimates contained in this report are not inclusive of local taxes, in-app advertising, or in-app user spending on mobile commerce, e.g., purchases via the Amazon app, rides via the Uber app, or food deliveries via the GrubHub app. Refunds are also not reflected in the provided figures.

Ghoil Poison/Ghost The Toxic Slime Pokemon Not doing Inktober this year but I've been wanting to revisit the designs I made last year. I had been really rushing back then and never got to fully realize each Fakemon. Now that the new games are coming up I figured it would be a great time to ride on that high and reboot them. Also just hashed together a region name just to thread it together: Voltari Region Volk (German for Folk as in folktales) and Tarinoita (Finnish for Tales) #fakemon #pokemon #photoshop #inktober2018 #poisontype #poisontypepokemon #ghosttype #ghosttypepokemon #ghoil #voltari #voltari region https://www.instagram.com/p/B3UrC8hhKPg/?igshid=1ckp7j2aypmhz

Pikachu, Chikorita and Noctowl :)
Pikachu: Who is your favourite Pokemon?
Sylveon is my ultimate fave but ngl I love pretty much all eeveelutions so much (it takes some dedication to manage to get 6 shiny eeveelutions - 4 by the sos chain method, 2 by breeding - and 2 6iv:s :D). Other than that I like ‘mon that are commonly used in competitive, such as garchomp, tyranitar, etc... (my anime faves are a different story, Snivy and Psyduck are definitely some of the bestest ♥♥ Oh and serperior is also among my fave pokes even though I don’t usually like snakes, but this one is just so cool. See, hard to mention just one)
Chikorita: Which is your favourite region?
This depends on the day. But right now, I’d probably say Kalos? Maybe X/Y isn’t the best game when it comes to the plot and such but I just really like how everything looks like in it! Laverre City and Anistar City have such cool atmospheres and the music is /awesome/ and so on and so on. But Alola is definitely among my faves as well, the Finnish weather is so cold that I’d def like to visit a place like Alola rn.
Noctowl: What was your first shiny Pokemon?
/Technically/ it was a Floette that I got via wonder trade but I don’t really count it because I didn’t even know it was shiny until I had got my first shiny without any help (Eevee, surprise, surprise).
Thanks a lot!
Send me a Pokémon and I’ll answer

Imagine if pokemon based a region on your homeland of Finland, or Scandinavia, what would you like to see?
I don’t really think Finland has anything special that’d justify making a Pokemon region of it (in terms of land or animals), so when I think of a Finnish region it’s just kinda normal. xD Nor am I well enough versed in geography to make suggestions for the rest of Scandinavia without doing some research.Seeing them take inspiration of Finnish mythology like Kalevala for characters, Pokemon and themes would be cool though. Gimme the Sampo as an item lolol

I was just discussing with @fairy-amy about what Finnish and Aussie based pokemon regions would be like and here’s my take on the Finnish one (just the basics)
Very cold all day every day (Sinnoh is nothing compared to it)
During the winter dark even during the day time, in the summer light even at night (I would want the game to have different seasons)
Not many mountains (only in the northernmost parts), just a lot of forests, fields, lakes and rivers
The people would be angry, depressed, impolite and antisocial, but still willing to battle everyone
Pokemon based on moose, (rein)deer, bears, wolves, Eurasian lynxes, foxes, rabbits, snakes, rats, etc... (I want a white stoat pokemon!)
Swanna would be the main regional bird
Our specialty would be called "sisu". When the Pokemon’s bond with the trainer gets stronger, under certain circumstances (I haven’t thought that far yet) it gets a secondary ability sisu that would boost all its stats a certain amount
There would be heavy metal and bad rap on the soundtrack
