If Mario was in... Big Run
Disaster has struck once again as the Mushroom Kingdom is overrun by Salmonid invaders! It's all hands on deck to drive them off and figure out what brought them there in the first place, with the Crew obviously on the front lines of the conflict...though some are there for slightly less altruistic than others, with Mario, Bob and Swag in particular seeing it as an excuse for the world's biggest seafood cookout. A course of action that Meggy and Boopkins can't even really fight against this time, seeing as it's apparently actually respectful of Salmonid culture.
Anyway, things get so bad that Joe Boopkins shows up to assist, which is apparently exactly what the Salmonids were waiting for because they manage to ambush him by bringing both Cohozuna and Horrorboros out seemingly from nowhere. The two King Salmonids manage to overpower their fellow Kaiju and drag him out to sea, so most of the Crew, the Guards and Jubjub chase after them while everyone else stays behind to handle any Salmonids who didn't retreat along with the Kings. Also Jubjub makes friends with a Smallfry at some point during the battle so now the Boopkins bros have a roommate/pet/third brother, depending on who you ask.
The rescue squad follows their enemies to an island fortress, where they discover that this particular group of Salmonids are being led by Admiral Sergeant Swipe, who returned to the sea after his defeat in "the Ballad of Dusty Grumpton," got shipwrecked and saved by the Salmonids, and somehow earned their trust and respect enough for them to follow his every command. So, of course, he got the idea to use them to finally capture all three Boopkins, concocting his current plan so he could both neutralize the incredible threat of Joe and use him as bait for his sons.
The standard combination of epic final boss battle and stupid memey bullshit inevitably ensues, and the fortress gets completely blown up while Joe carries the good guys to safety.
And the final shot is of a boat crewed by Haltworkers fishing A.S.Swipe's mangled-but-barely-living body out of the sea...

If Mario Was.. Under Da Water
Episode starts with the gang all on a yacht veeeeeeeeery similar to the one from Seaside Stupidity. Turns out that SMG4 managed to win the gang a cruise ride and they all decided to go (after it was throughly investigated to make sure it wasn't a threat, they aren't taking any chances).
Dinner isn't going to be served for a while, so Mario decides to head back to his and Luigi's room to nap to make dinner time come faster. Lily tags along, as does Boopkins and JubJub. Lily because she wants to get a book from her room, and Boopkins wants to get some manga for him and JubJub to read. However, things don't go exactly to plan when Nessie the Lochness Monster accidentally surfaces right by the boat, making it tilt dramatically.
This also makes Lily, Mario, JubJub, and Boopkins go overboard. Luckily Boopkins uses the same magic he used in Seaside Stupidity to make it so Lily and Mario can breath, talk, and swim pretty well under the water (listen, that was sick ass magic and he deserves to use it again). Unfortunately, though, none of the crew seemed to have noticed that they went overboard, and the yacht continues on without them.
The episode is mostly the group swimming after the yacht, trying various ways to try and get the attention of the crew whilst being stalked by shadowy figure in the water. Though sometimes it hums and Lily swears that it sounds very similar to her own siren song..
Episode is resolved when Boopkins manages to contact Joe Boopkins for help, and he returns the group back to the yacht. But not before menacingly looking at the crew for letting this happen by not doing a correct headcount.

Spoil Me Rotten // Joe Burrow x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: For valentines day, Joe takes you on a star-gazing dinner date
Word Count: 750
Warnings: eating, unedited work, no others though this is just wholesome fluff!!!
-----------------------------
“Are you almost ready?” Joe peaked around the corner into the bathroom, it was Valentine's day, 8 pm, and you knew Joe hadn’t forgotten, but you were getting suspicious if he actually had anything planned. He told you to get ready so you two could go to your favorite restaurant, nothing fancy, just simple. Just the way you liked it.
“You can’t rush beauty,” you said, smiling at him while putting in your earrings. He came up behind you placing his hands on your hips, admiring you in the mirror. He let his chin fall onto your shoulder.
“You’re already way too beautiful,” he smiled, and you lightly hit his shoulder. You admired the two of you in the mirror, Joe's hand clad with the ring you gave him, it was a simple signet ring for his pinky. He loved it, he hadn’t taken it off since you gifted it to him this morning.
Joe drove the usual route to the restaurant, parking in the usual spot. It was a small mom-and-pop Italian but you both swore they had the best Italian food in the entire state of Ohio.
“Will that be to stay or to-go?” the kind waitress asked.
“To st-” Joe cut you off.
“No it'll be to-go,” you shot him a puzzled look, but he simply sent it back, held out his arm for you to grab, and the both of you walked over to the waiting chairs. Resting your head on his shoulder you held his hand, admiring the ring you gave him. It really did suit him, you were proud of your choice.
“Joe,” you heard his name called and he stood collecting the bags of food. He opened the car door for you, driving in the opposite direction of home.
“Where are we going?” you asked, he shrugged, a smug little smirk on his face.
“I don’t know,” he turned onto a dirt road. This was getting fishy, you looked around, and the dark trees thickly surrounded the car. A sign came into view, ‘Miami White Water Forest’.
“Joe, what's going on?” he shushed you, continuing down the rough road. He pulled off onto a pullout, shutting off the car. He pulled open the cover of the large sunroof. The stars were bright above you.
“Okay wait one second,” he hurried out and around, pushing down the backseats, you watched in amusement as he pulled blankets and pillows from the trunk and made a bed.
“When did you have time to grab all that?” You giggled as he opened your door for you and practically shoved you into the back.
“When you were getting ready,” he said in an obvious tone. He opened the bags, handing you your food. You dug in, it stayed quiet, the two of you grubbing, legs pushing against one another. The food seemed to be the best it had ever been, but maybe it was just the occasion.
The food was ate, put messily away and pushed into the front seat.
He laid back, resting his arms above his head. The stars were tempting you but you just wanted to look at Joe. You couldn’t believe he planned this, not that he wasn’t amazing at planning things but he usually broke too early in the day out of excitement. Both of you were that way, surprises were hard to keep from the love of your life.
“What are you looking at?” He asked, you’d been staring intently down at him.
“Just the man that spoils me rotten,” his hand reached out and grabbed you, pulling you into his chest. His fingers tracing miscellaneous objects onto your arm. You let your head fall on his chest, his chin resting on the top of your head, and your legs tangling. This was your favorite way to cuddle, your breaths were steady and the silence all around made for the most comforting ambience.
“Oh wait,” his hand came into view above your face, interrupting the starry view, “this is for you.”
His other hand brought a small Diamond necklace into your view. You shot up out of his arms
“Joey this is too nice,” you couldn’t believe your eyes.
“Nothing too nice for my pretty girl,” he unclasped it, notioning for you to turn and let him put it on.
“Joe,” you looked down at it on your neck. It was beautiful! He knew you so well, from you preference from dainty jewelry to quiet nights in.
“Just shut up and let me spoil you rotten,” he said sternly but with a smile.

i love it when the hermits prank. like nothing will equal etho's free glass, or cub's sculk apocalypse, or x's fishy gift for cleo. i love the ghostly presence for the dirty molly, built to kill cleo as an act of war. i love the towering structure of joe's rubix cube for mumbo. i love the energy of joe stomping in to pour lava over the entirety of grian's base until he agreed to respect other people's work. i love the giant structures, the careful additions to bases, the weird redstone contraptions

Joe's team immediately sending out to the gossip rags how great of a father he is reeks of damage control. I'm curious to hear Sophie's side of the story because she was 19 when he began dating her and dealt with a back-to-back pregnancy at a relatively young age. Something fishy is happening here.
His family is incredibly weird and conservative too. Also it's been obvious for years that he's been getting in the way of her career, even before she got pregnant and that Sophie is the primary caretaker of the kids so she can't accept the roles she wants because she has to take her kids into consideration. Filming the Staircase was so hard because she had to rent a house for her and her kids near where they were filming.
Not to mention the fact that she's been isolated from her friends and family for a while now.
What's funny about him blaming her career for the divorce is that every time Sophie gets a gig, he latches on. The way he was acting while GoT was airing was so embarrassing and the fact that she can barely do any LV promo without him showing up was just infuriating

So at first, this was a reblog of a different post, but I am now making it an original one for greater reach. Be warned that it's going to be quite long.
So, we all know and love the promotional comics of our Wii boxers, like this one about Glass Joe:
Tumblr media
You might have never questioned its origin, and neither did I when I first encountered it a year ago. I just assumed that Nintendo officially published it in a guide, because that's what every source about them that I've read was implying.
But then I learnt that these translations aren't official at all. They were apparently done by the Tumblr user @boink-the-joiner in 2013, whose blog seems to be unfortunately deleted.
And then I was informed of the existence of this image by my friend @fan-mans (Charlie):
Tumblr media
He said he originally found it on Tumblr, though he didn't give me the link to where he got it from. (It happens to be included at the very start of this post.)
But this supposed "original version" seemed fishy to me for several reasons:
If this is the "original" Japanese version, and no "official" English one exists that was published alongside it, why are the sound effects written in the Latin alphabet?
Why is the authorship at the bottom in English? And isn't that the exact same font as in the well-known English version?
Why is it read left-to-right? Shouldn't it be flipped from the English version? Wouldn't it make more sense for Mac to punch him with his right arm and for Joe's hair to be more often on his right side than the left, and to first put on the left boxing glove, and hold the coffee cup in his right hand?
Why is there a red rectangle in the middle right?
Charlie said that all of this was because Nintendo was catering to an American audience, but never actually published the guide outside of Japan. (Apart from the red rectangle, which was apparently a part of the website that image originally came from, but he didn't have a link to that either.) I didn't believe it at first, because it just seemed like an incredibly stupid pair of decisions to me.
But today, I found this webpage. It's a blog post talking about strategy books for Nintendo games, and includes this image:
Tumblr media
This is it! This is proof that Nintendo printed the comic to be read left to right in the original Japanese version!
There was that little bit of doubt in my mind though. What if the copy that shows the actual pages of the comic is in English? The quality is so low...
Tumblr media
...but the kana here are clear enough.
That isn't the end of the story. Shortly afterwards, I came across this webpage:
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE ORIGIN OF THAT JAPANESE VERSION OF THE JOE COMIC ABOVE! The red rectangle was, indeed, holding up a textbox.
Anyway, the full website can be found here, and includes a few other materials, such as this part of a guide on Title Defense Von Kaiser:
Tumblr media
Sadly, the website only includes Joe's comic, and I haven't found the original Japanese versions of anyone else online, so currently, you'd have to own the guide to know what they look like.
Also, out of curiosity, I decided to use the Wayback Machine to see if the site has ever been modified, but it just wasn't archived there at all. Not even a single snapshot. So I went ahead and preserved what it currently looks like.
The website itself seems to belong to the company that published the guide, Enterbrain, a division of Kadokawa Future Publishing, which is a part of the Kadokawa Corporation. The names "Ebten" and "Famitsu" seem to be related to it as well, but I have yet to figure out exactly how. The full Japanese title of the book is パンチアウト!!完全クリアーガイドブック, and its ISBN is 978-4-7577-5067-8. At least according to these listings.
Not all questions about the comics have been answered. For instance, we still aren't quite sure why Nintendo (or Enterbrain, anyway) decided to flip them. And our translator Boink had to have the copies of all of the Japanese comics, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to translate them! What if they are reachable somewhere else, and we can ask them if they still have the original scans?
More information might come as I (and hopefully others) research more.

Fish Out of Water
So, the thing about the Boopkins species is, they’re fish. Even though they have legs and lungs and can stay on land for a good long while they’re still fish. They need to go in the water at least sometimes or they’ll dry out. And let’s be real, The Goomba is way too self-absorbed(despite what he may think) to notice that his “helpful buddy Fishy” is slowly dying of dehydration.
And this wouldn’t be such a problem, Boopkins probably could have told him, except The Goomba has a habit of grumbling under his breath about things he doesn’t like, and Boopkins Listens so he won’t do those things(because let’s be real, he’s a people pleaser and kind of a pushover, and those mixed with this particular brand of mind control are a match made in hell), and one of the things he doesn’t like is people who complain a lot which is a bit ironic all things considered but if Boopkins mentioned that it’d probably be complaining, so when his scales start itching and he remembers what that means he doesn’t say anything.
……..
Working with The Goomba is…well, it’s Right, it has to be Right, even though Boopkins is tired and itchy and it’s a little awkward being called by his first name when he’s gotten so used to being Boopkins but that’s not really the biggest deal, Dad still calls him Fishy too he has a hard time remembering the last time he saw Dad, so Boopkins doesn’t say anything. Even when they’re asking other people to come help including kids why are we taking kids, and getting money for their projects he’s pretty sure it’s still robbery even if the bank tellers are "willing" participants, and borrowing the studio for The Goomba’s broadcast and every cell in his body is screaming at him to jump in the ocean he doesn’t say anything.
He’s so tired.
……..
You’d think that with just about everyone listening to The Goomba now there would be less for Fishy to do. You’d be wrong, because he’s The Goomba’s Right Hand(and Left Hand. No arms, you know?) so now that he’s in charge of everything they both have so much more to deal with and so many more complaints to grumble and adapt to, especially with the hunt for Mario and his friends going longer than it should. And Fishy keeps slipping up because he’s always so tired and having trouble thinking through the headache and the rules and the itch and The Goomba’s urging him to get more rest but rest won’t help I NEED WATER I’M A FISH IT’S IN MY NAME IT’S IN THE NAME YOU INSIST ON USING YOU STUPID FUCKING MUSHROOM and the only small relief he gets is the sword armed man who he feels like he should remember and who keeps “accidentally” spilling drinks on him(because even brainwashed Bob is a bit of a rebel, and bound and determined to look after his best friend in what little way he can) and he’s
Just.
So.
Tired.
………
Fishy can’t think.
Fishy doesn’t know how he’s standing.
Fishy can barely hear.
Except Goomba. Fishy can always hear Goomba.
Goomba’s talking to new people, the ones on the Wanted Signs he can almost remember putting up. He’s angry.
And then Fishy’s somewhere else, trying to catch more monkeys than a block man. Fishy doesn’t know why.
And then Fishy’s in a staring contest with an angry robe sword girl. Fishy thinks she looks like the drink spilling guy.
And then there’s…singing? There’s bright lights and loud sounds all over and it hurts.
A green girl with a big sword and a purple man with a beard and three floating glowing people that Fishy doesn’t think were there before do Something to Goomba and the world
shifts
and Boopkins is falling, but somebody catches him, and he knows he’s safe now because there’s only One Person who could hold someone so gently with cold razor-sharp steel.
“Boopkins, you with me bro?”
And he wants to say yes so badly, doesn’t want Bob to worry more than absolutely necessary(and it’d be hard for anyone to tell with That Voice but he’s already absolutely frantic), but he’s still sorting between what’s real and what’s the dehydration headache and what’s The Goomba, and he remembers something important.
“was s’posed t’ pick up Jubjub…”
Bob chokes out something between a laugh, a sob and a scoff, which just sounds weird coming from him if you’re not used to it, “already handled it. C’mon, let’s get you fixed up before the dead fish smell sets off Karen’s instincts.”
And less than a minute later he’s in one of Steve’s cauldrons, and it’s cramped and Minecraft water’s always had a weird texture and he doesn’t care because in his state a swamp would feel like a hot spring and this is definitely better than a swamp. For the first time in weeks he can think and he’s wet and he’s happy and he’s Boopkins.
And he’s still tired
And that’s finally okay.

Mini Arc - Siren's Song
(Condensing this so I'm not constantly posting about it.)
If Mario was... Under Da Water
Mario Finds Atlantis
Despite the whole fiasco that was "Under Da Water," the gang is back out at the ocean again, but this time, they're more heavily watching the waters to make sure. And everything is going great until Mario's plate if spaghetti goes overboard and he jumps to get it. Chaos ensues.
It mostly focuses on Mario as he sinks to the bottom of the ocean floor and discovers that he's sunk right in front of the palace of the Lost City of Atlantis. Of course he goes in despite the fact that he should really be swimming back up. And by logic of SMG4 universe, he's breathing underwater.
The most 'danger' he's ever in in this episode is from the old and worn defenses of that palace, so damaged by water they activate erratically and sometimes even turn on each other. But eventually, Mario gets to the throne room.. which has the back wall completely obliterated, and the throne is nowhere in sight. And then a giant shadow covers him before revealing a giant woman that looks like a mermaid, but she has some more monstrous features, like fish frills on her arms, sharp teeth, sharp fish frills where her ears should be,, that stuff. (For her appearance, look up Black Pearl Cookie! That's who I based her design off of.) But what's shocking is that this mermaid looks nearly identical to Lily, except she has brighter green eyes.
The woman introduces herself as Diana, the infamous Storm Siren, and their boat is in her part of the sea, not Joe Boopkins. Their conversation is brief, with Diana agreeing to bring him back to the surface as long as he and his friends never come back. She takes him back to the boat (throwing him on unceremoniously) before creating a wave to send the ship back. But as she does, she sees Lily.. and her interest is piqued.
The Search For Anonymous L
Boopkins, having decided that he's wondered long enough, has decided that he's going to go and look for Anonymous L himself! He ropes Bob, Lily, and JubJub into it. Bob the entire time is trying to disaude him or throw him off, while Lily is trying her damn hardest not to give away how uncomfortable she is with all of this.
Their search leads them to the Estrellas home, which hasn't been sold off since they were part of the elite and corruption and all that. Lily splits off from the group, mostly to head to her mom's office. She's been curious about the origins of her powers, too, because other than her siren powers, she's a regular old human. There, she finds her mother's diary.. cursing her great grandfather for falling in love with a siren. She isn't able to read further because JubJub finds her. She does manage to pocket the diary however, along with some other important books in the bag she brought.
It ends with Boopkins being dejected that they couldn't find anything out, but Lily and Bob assure him that it's probably for the best. Once they return home, we see Lily in her room, reading through the books, where she makes a startling discovery; her great great grandmother was the Storm Siren.
Diana is her ancestor.
Accepting Who You Are
(Basically 'The Pursuit of Happiness' but Lily doesn't leave, lol.)
Lily is in a bit of a crisis mode now that she's found out Diana is her great great grandmother because A) that means all her theories maybe it just being a weird mutation in her DNA is wrong and B) she knew sirens lived long but holy shit, that's her great great grandmother, that's at least 100+ years.
But what makes this worse for her (in her view) is that she's now even more dangerous to those she cares about. Sirens are known for having powerful voices, able to control your mind and body and influence you. Sure, right now, she can only control one person at a time whilst constantly singing and focusing intently, but who's to say she won't end up becoming dangerous?
She begins avoiding everyone following the revalation of this information, beginning to spiral. She starts equating herself to the malevolent origins of the siren song, believing herself to be inherently malevolent.
Mario and Bob of all people are the ones who manage to break through to her, with both figuring out why she's spiraling so much. Mario decides that a little family reunion will probably clear her head and takes his niece to head back out to the sea.
Once out to sea, Diana so happens to be in the area, and Lily lays out her troubles to her great great grandmother. Diana is pleased to meet her descendant, but seems oddly.. understanding as Lily starts to ramble on and on about her insecurities. And then the Siren gently shushes her.
"I understand, little guppy. I, too, once thought that my morality was tied to the siren's song. That was until Johnathan came into my life. He proved that I did not have to equate my worth to what I had. Yes, as you grow older, so too will the power of your song. But you will have people to care for you and guide you. You will have support to become a benevolent being and not become your worst fears.
"So do not give in to fear, little guppy. You are Lily. Who you become depends on you and the path you will carve out."
Lily calms at the reassurance and its clear that now she's really believing that. But as she's pondering, Mario has to be Mario.
Mario: Wait, you but you had to have-a met-a Johnathan before SMG4 and SMG3 landed here. So.. did he..?
Diana: Yes, he was a freak. But before you ask further, I can shape-shift.
Mario: Thats-a relief.
The duo return to shore after saying their goodbyes to Diana, where everyone else js waiting for them. Lily is a lot more at peace with herself now, having accepted that, yes, her siren abilities will always be a part of her. But she's the one who can chose what to do with them.
When asked when she's feeling, she smiles and replies. But what comes out of her mouth is an actual voice, and not the Pekoe voice clips that's she's been using the whole time.
"I'm feeling great. I actually feel like.. I know who I am now!"
Cue the freaking out that she has a voice plus everyone being happy for her. And now that she's accepted herself, she's ready to move on from her past and continue going on adventures with the rest of the gang.
