Qotd: what your fav book/series in fitz’s fort? . Today is #fitzfriday, so you guys get a bookish pic of my boy, Fitz. And since we missed #tbt, I thought I would post about the time we built a book fort. 😂 Beyond the fact that this was just fun, can we take a second and #fangirl about some of the amazing series in this pic??? Doesn’t Fitz have amazing taste? Also, i read somewhere that’s it’s #nationalappleday and as you can see, Fitz is modeling possibly the most famous apple to grace the cover of a book. Can you think of others? Anyway, happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend! . #friday #bookish #bookstagram #bookfort #bookstagrammer #booklovers #booklover #igdaily #igbooks #igreads #igreaders #readersofinstagram #readmorebooks #instagood #instabook #instadaily #igaddict #bookaddict #booknerd #booknerd #reading #readabook #dogsofinstagram #doggo #goldenretriever #dogmom #booksbooksbooks (at Columbus, Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj_adV6L5vD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Can I offer some character analysis on this Fitzfriday?
The moment that always gets me in the movie (with regards to Eugene) is the way he reacts to seeing the Stabbingtons in the prison.
There’s a moment of confusion there, which immediately switches to anger (and I’m pretty sure this is the only time we see Eugene genuinely angry in the movie). And it’s interesting to think what must be going on in his head, because he doesn’t have as much information as the viewer does. He knows that the Stabbintons somehow knew about Rapunzel’s magic hair, that they were planning on kidnapping her and selling her for that power, and that they got the better of him and were in all likelihood going after her next. But now they’re here and she’s not, and he’s understandably pretty ticked off, but what’s interesting is his priority when he demands answers.
He doesn’t say, “Where is she?” or “What did you do with her?” His first priority is the security leak. This is in all likelihood simply because the Stabbingtons are not that dangerous. Every time they turn up as antagonists in the show, the heroes are always handicapped in some way; no weapons, hopelessly outnumbered, literally locked in a cell. (One can only imagine what would happen if they went after Eugene one day when he had a good night’s sleep, a sword, and plenty of room to hand them their own asses. It would probably be funny.)
Anyway, point is, Eugene knows how wildly incompetent the Stabbingtons are, and he’s seen Rapunzel easily handle much more dangerous enemies, and her not being here is indicative not of her being safe, but at least of the most obvious danger not being a thing. He’s certainly got no reason to believe Gothel and the Stabbingtons teamed up.
And once he concludes Gothel is involved, he goes through a whole other shift in facial expression:
It’s not that he wasn’t worried before, but the Stabbingtons are at least a clear and obvious danger, the kind Rapunzel would know to run from. The thing that interests me is how he immediately registers Gothel as a danger. He doesn’t know anything about the Flower or her using Rapunzel beyond what he might have conjectured, and in fact as far as he knows she’s her actual mother, but he instantly recognizes her as the worse option (and one that Rapunzel might go with willingly). I think he knew, or at least guessed, that Gothel would try to relocate Rapunzel now that the secret was out (even if the only person who knew everything was on his way to the gallows), thus, “Let’s see how fast you can run,” and “I thought I’d never see you again!”
The question for me is at what point did he realize that Rapunzel’s home life was not great? Part of me thinks pretty early on:
But another part of me thinks not until the campfire scene:
In reality it was probably a gradual realization. I don’t think it fully sunk in for him that Rapunzel had literally never been outside before until the campfire scene, but I think he started picking up red flags a long time before that. Definitely as early as leaving the tower, but aside from the fact he was still serving his own interests at that point, he probably wasn’t sure that early. He grew up in an orphanage, and probably doesn’t really know what a healthy parent/child relationship looks like, although obviously he is eventually able to arrive at the conclusion of “not fucking this”.

Lin Manuel Miranda’s overlapping technique is reminiscent of an actual madrigal.
A madrigal is musical genre going back to the renaissance period. It's made of poetry sung to multiple overlapping melodies that weave in and out of each other, creating dissonance and beautiful harmonies, as well as the lyrics complimenting each other in places.
I was in a madrigal choir. It was a fun challenge. He may have studied madrigals, modified what he liked, and added it in as a slice of his own style...which is genius. Absolute genius.
Considering what a madrigal is, and what the family in Encanto is like (all families, really), giving them the surname of Madrigal is deliciously poetic.

What does "To be on cloud 9" mean? Where did it come from?
omg...... I just learned something new and cool that most meteorologists already know. This Ted Talk video I clicked on this morning out of curiosity is what did it to me.
Do you want to fly and touch a cloud? ME, TOO!!! :D
"To be on cloud 9" means to be "on top of the world" or "incredibly happy."
Want to know why? Do ya? Do ya? Do ya do ya do ya?
*affectionately shoves your face into science*
This comes from the cloud naming system created in the 1800's by Luke Howard, (wikipedia.com)

this ain’t done yet, but still a version of eugene’s guard armor (but with extra features). Might experiment with arm/ knee pads or different colors, but since it’s Friday, just thought I’d share this nonetheless.
