Frozen 2 Fanfiction
Summary: Wedding jitters have hit their peak...for Kristoff. Luckily there’s someone who’s dealt with similar insecurities.
-----
It’s too hot.
Fingers are pulling at him everywhere. Tying his necktie. Buttoning his suit. He jumps when someone roughly tucks a handkerchief into his breast pocket.
The jacket is too constricting on his broad shoulders, the fabric rough and tight against his throat. He can’t breathe.
Shit. He can’t die on his wedding day!
He tries to say the words but they won’t come out. Maids continue their fussing – tucking, buttoning, touching. He can’t think straight. He feels his palms slick with sweat and struggles once more to breathe through an airway that seems to have dramatically narrowed.
“I…” his head is swimming. Someone touches his head and starts working on his hair.
“Everyone OUT!” The words burst out from him, booming.
The room stills, everyone startled, Kristoff himself included. He hadn’t meant to be so loud.
But they all scatter immediately, leaving Kristoff alone with his half-done tie and racing thoughts.
He has no clue about being a king, let alone a husband. Who is he, what has he ever done, to deserve a crown on his head and the most beautiful, funny, smart, compassionate woman by his side? For the rest of his life, at that!
Anna….she’s perfect. She knows how to meet people, how to talk to them. She knows history, and how to come to agreements with people, and how to dance. She always knows how to dress for an occasion and which fork and spoon to use at dinner. And which glass.
But even more importantly, she knows him. How to make him feel better when he’s had a rough day. How to get him to smile, to laugh. How he likes his coffee and what kind of beer he likes. She knows when to hold his hand and she knows when he needs something stronger. She knows how to make him feel good and right.
The thoughts trickle in like a leak from the ceiling, drip by drip. Did he somehow trick her into thinking he was someone he isn’t? What if he’s not a good King? What if he can’t keep her happy? What if he can’t…satisfy her in the other ways she might need?
This next step…it comes with lots of big changes. No more sleeping on hay. No more going on extended ice harvesting trips. He’ll have to learn how to become an entirely different person.
He doesn’t know what’s happening to him. Why can’t he breathe?!
He rips off the suit jacket and flings it across the room but it doesn’t help. He grasps his tie, desperately trying to undo the tight knot, but he just ends up with trembling, tangled fingers and a tight throat.
His hands clench into shaking fists and his vision goes blurry.
He’s scared.
Should he call for help? He doesn’t want to seem pathetic or unsure, he’s going to be King, goddamnit, but he feels like he’s dying.
There’s some kind of noise coming from somewhere, but Kristoff’s head is spinning and he can’t make sense of it, let alone focus on something else other than his breathing right now. He staggers over to one of the settees and falls unceremoniously onto it, burying his dizzy head in his trembling hands.
Suddenly, there are cool hands prying his own off his face. His feels a soft brush of fingers against his throat and the strangling tie falls to his feet. The same cool hand cups his cheek to bring up his gaze before taking his hands in their own.
“…off? Kristoff?” Elsa’s low voice comes gently, like she’s trying to not spook him. “Hey,” she says, a tiny, gentle smile on her lips when his gaze finally meets hers. Only the little furrow between her brows shows she’s concerned.
Kristoff wants to respond but finds he can’t. His lips part but the air won’t come to help him make the words. His gaze locks onto her and his fingers grasp hers like a lifeline.
“It’s alright,” she says gently. Her thumb makes little circles on the side of his hand. “Just breathe through it. I’ve got you.”
She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath in through her nose, then slowly, gently, releases it through pursed lips. Kristoff watches her and tries to do the same.
Slowly, bit by bit, his mind clears and his hands stop shaking. His chest loosens and he feels like he can breathe once more. It’s not great, but – better.
“There he is,” Elsa says playfully when Kristoff appears to have recovered. “Want to talk about it?” She cocks her head to the side.
“What…what are you doing here?” Kristoff decides on instead. Elsa had been staying in the Arendelle Castle about a full week now, helping with preparations for the joint wedding and his coronation. She had seemed a bit unnerved as a result of her extended stay; just yesterday she had complained to him how she had forgotten how it felt to be watched and examined by everybody.
“Oh, a little bird told me about your outburst.” She laughs lightly at his dismayed expression. “Don’t worry. It happens to all of us. It’s a little too much to take, sometimes, all the staff. I thought I would just stop by before the big event.”
“Good thing you did,” Kristoff admits with a shake of his head. His breath comes easily now, but now he’s cold from his sweating episode. “I don’t…I don’t know what happened. It was all just…too much, suddenly."
Elsa nods knowingly, her expression falling and fingers tightening around his own.
“Is this... how you used to feel?” Kristoff asks, gently. He remembers Elsa’s hands clenched by her chest, temperatures dropping and snowflakes pulsing in time to her heartbeat. He remembers her gasps for air and the sad look Anna got when her sister retreated for a time. But it had been a while since the last time- at least, from what he had seen.
“And still do, sometimes…” Elsa trails off, sadness tainting her blue eyes. But it doesn’t seem to run as deeply as it used to. “But I know better, now, and can usually get myself out of it.”
“How? I feel like I won’t be good enough,” Kristoff admits, suddenly emboldened. Elsa’s always been a good listener and he could really use an ear right now.
“I’m just a guy who grew up sleeping on hay and talking to a reindeer,” Kristoff starts. Elsa grins at that but Kristoff doesn’t see the humor. “You had to teach me to read – I don’t know Arendelle’s history, or the names of the people that come to see us. I can’t help Anna with all the work she’s gonna have.” He runs his hand through his hair in exasperation. “I can’t help her develop treaties or settle disagreements. Hell, I still can’t figure out which fork to use at formal dinners!” He pulls his hands out of Elsa’s to throw them in the air in exasperation.
He was really hoping that Elsa would interrupt to soothe him by now. But she hasn’t said a word, just listens to his ranting. He blinks back the frustrated tears that have crept into his eyes.
“And I….it took me like ten times to even propose to her! I’m just awkward, and don’t know how to do these boyfriend things that I’m supposed to do. I’m not romantic-” he recalls the time when Ryder tried to help him create a “romantic” reindeer proposal – as if such a thing even existed – “and she deserves someone who can sweep her off her feet, who can dance with her, who can…who can make her happy and give her everything she deserves.”
He stops, resigned, and places his head firmly back in his hands to look down at his feet. His feet which are stuffed into the shiniest black dress shoes he has ever seen in his life.
“You know,” Elsa starts, rubbing a hand down his back in comfort, “for most of my life I thought the things that made me different were the problem.”
Though his face is still buried in his hands, Kristoff hears Elsa stand up and begin to pace the room by the tinkling tip-tap of her ice heels.
“I thought my magic was a curse, that because of it I could only hurt other people. Whenever I thought about myself and what I had to offer, all I remembered and would think of were the terrible things I had done or could possibly do.”
The clinking of Elsa’s shoes stop, and the temperature slowly drops. Kristoff can feel and even taste the tang of her magic growing in the air. He looks up.
“But Ahtohallan showed me that this thing that made me different was actually a gift. All my life I just wanted to be normal, but it turned out that the thing I hated about myself was actually…what made me me.” Her arms reach out and spiral around each other, fingers dancing gracefully. Sweeping motions and delicate gestures make ice crystals blink to life. Kristoff doesn’t see how this is supposed to help him, but as always he remains entranced by Elsa’s magic.
The wind shifts and snow and ice take shape around the room. Her arms continue to wave and her footsteps seem calculated as the snow begins to take shape in ice figures, growing and shimmering.
Elsa’s hands close in the air and Kristoff gasps. He slowly walks around the room, entranced by what he sees.
By the picture window, there’s an ice figure of himself holding Anna, who’s hunched over in pain. He cringes as he recognizes their positions after Elsa accidentally struck Anna with her magic in the ice palace
Next to it, Kristoff has to hold back a chuckle when he sees the two of them in the outrageous costumes the trolls had dressed them in when they pronounced them married.
Then there’s an intricate statue of Sven carrying both Kristoff and a sickly-looking Anna on his back. Kristoff remembers the frozen weight of her in his arms as they raced back to the castle.
There’s their first kiss, tender and shy by the docks. The sparkling ice picks up the twinkle and excitement in their eyes exactly.
He seems himself feeding Anna her very first spoonful of Flemmy stew. Spooning her medicine when she was sick in bed. Carrying her in the city when she sprained her ankle chasing a group of children. His comforting hug when they thought Elsa dead. His awkward and rushed proposal, her eager and ecstatic cry of yes!
“You make her so happy, Kristoff,” Elsa’s delicate voice breaks him out of his reverie. She lets one of her fingers trail over her latest creation which Kristoff is standing in front of. “Don’t you see? Anna doesn’t need a prince or a king. She doesn’t care for status and she certainly doesn’t need the sappy romance found in those silly romance novels.”
Elsa slowly steps around from creation to creation. “While others run away from danger, you stay to protect her.” She shakes her head to rid herself of the memory, and strides over to the next figure. “You make her laugh,” she grins at their expressions. “You always look out for her. You bring out the best parts of her.”
She walks over to Kristoff and takes his hands in hers. “You show her love, Kristoff. True love. That’s why she loves you. Not because you’re a prince. Not because you can help her rule, and not because you know proper dinner etiquette. What makes you you is why she loves you!”
The ice in the room radiates cold, his breath steaming in the air, but all that Kristoff feels is warmth at Elsa’s words and the memories sculpted in front of him.
“Now come on,” Elsa says. She helps him back into his jacket. Her fingers brush his throat where she does the buttons and slips back on his necktie. Her fingers settle in his hair, and a cool sensation comes over him as she puts bits of ice in to keep it just right.
She starts to walk towards the door, turning around to face him at the last moment. “Are you ready?” She asks with a nervous but excited smile. “My sister is waiting for a very special person.”
Kristoff takes a deep breath, his chest filling with warmth and a grin finally finding its spot on his face. He strides towards the door with confidence.
Wait!
The thought occurs to him right before he steps through the doorway. “Hey, Elsa?”
“Yes?”
Kristoff nods towards the last sculpture- a memory of the two of them hugging Anna sandwiched in the middle, her cheeks smooshed by Kristoff and Elsa’s faces on either side. “Can I keep this one? As a wedding present?”
Elsa laughs – a clear, happy note unobstructed by a hand over her mouth. She beams. “Of course.”

Please let me know what you think! Any and all comments appreciated. As you know, I’m simply dying for more ice bros moments, feel free to give me some future prompts or ideas! Thanks for reading <3

Who is Kristoff?
Kristoff is a soft, goofy and loving boi who loves his feistypants so much he’d do anything for her. He may seem like a big tough guy who’s always a grump at first but that’s not him, he’s a big passionate goof who had lost his trust in people and in order to protect himself from the cruelty he went through put on the facade of the big tough loner ice man, but once he met Anna Kristoff showed his true self, he can be clumsy and goofy, very passionate for the things and people he loves, emotional, protective, he’ll do anything to keep his girlfriend’s birthday cake safe and sound, he’ll let everyone know how much he loves Anna, he will act like a child when showing his new family his traditions, he’ll dance while making his flemmy stew, his voice will crack trying to propose, he’ll mess up proposing to the love of his life because he hasn’t been in love before, he may be double Anna’s size but she’s the leader and he will follow her everywhere, he’ll act like a dad to Olaf or an older brother to Elsa, he’ll be Anna’s emotional support when things are wrong, he’ll sing to his reindeer when he’s down and he’ll just be... Kristoff, a lovable fixer upper. He’s not the prince charming in the shining armor on the mighty steed ready to save the day, he’s the prince sincere with his reindeer ready to help the princess save the day.

Arendelle Castle- The Stables
The stables (where Sven, horses and kittens are kept (and where Kristoff stays until marriage? lol)) is probably a less significant location than the others, but anyways I’m gonna locate it :P
Here it is:
Tumblr media
View from another angle. It is next to ‘the door’ discussed in previous posts:
Tumblr media
Animation consistency here with Kai bringing Havski (Anna’s horse) to Anna from that direction :)
Tumblr media
Elsa has added even more decorations since F1 (see the pillars in OFA) :P
Tumblr media
Inside the stables (Sven’s stall):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Minor animation inconsistency regarding the hay? Maybe Kristoff has cleaned it up before Sven returns from the mountains :P)
Wait, Kristoff is disintegrating Flemmy, who is held in highest esteem, to make the stew?

I’m still not fully on board with the ending of Frozen 2 but I got thinking more about it and I wondered: what does Elsa eat now? First of all, does she still need to eat, but secondly, we’re at the same problem we had with the first movie, only now we need a real answer for it. Does she grow her own food? Does she learn to hunt? Fish? Does she clean the kills herself, does she know how or does she learn from the Northuldra people? Or does she just go to them any time she gets hungry?
And then I started thinking about what Anna makes of all this. If Elsa supposedly comes around all the time for freaking game nights of all things, does Anna start to notice changes? Like maybe Elsa stops caring so much about hygiene and person appearances (no plumbing up North, after all). Maybe she eats foods she initially didn’t like to eat. Maybe she takes Kristoff up on his offer of Flemmy Stew this time around. Maybe she actually recommends some lichen-based recipes for Anna to try. Maybe they go out on a nature walk or camping trip and suddenly she’s really good at all those wilderness survival skills.
I’m just picturing the group settling down for lunch at a picnic and Anna pulls out some sandwiches, offering one to Elsa. And Elsa shakes her head politely, and says, “Nah, I’m good.” She then gets up and is gone all of five minutes, returning with a whole-ass salmon she just speared in the river. In only a few more minutes she’s gutted it (while it still flailed around), scaled it, and cut it up into little bite-sized pieces. And she just eats her Norweigian sushi, completely unfazed by the pile of fish guts, while Anna wonders what the hell happened to her sister who used to gag at the thought of gross foods (and who never wanted to hurt things with her magic).
Unless she doesn’t need to eat because of the whole goddess thing. In which case that still begs the question of what happens when Anna grows old, and her kids grow old, and their kids grow old...

To Make the Season Bright--Part 2
Summary
Elsa and Anna are ready to celebrate the holiday season once more, but this time they’re in for a very pleasant surprise.
(Part 1) (AO3 version)
*~~**~~*
Sunlight peaked in through the curtains and shined on Aneira’s face, pulling a small noise from her. Shutting her eyes tighter, she turned to face away from the window. She had the strangest dream last night. Or . . . maybe strange wasn’t the right word. Curious was probably a better word for it.
She was in her nightgown in the dream, and she was in a beautiful forest in the winter. There was something about it that felt . . . familiar to her. Maybe it was because it reminded her of the forest she had gone through with everyone on their way to the ice tree Elsa had made.
She walked in the snow barefoot, and she found herself studying diamond-like crystals of ice forming in the air. Slowly, pearly white snowflakes came into being, and they multiplied. She’d never seen snowflakes like those before, not even from him. And she certainly had never seen them from herself. Or Elsa for that matter.
A handful of snowflakes drifted close to her almost timidly. Carefully, she raised her hand to touch one. And upon her touch, the snowflake glimmered. Whispers reached her ears, and they seeped into a part of her that set her magic alight.
More of the snowflakes drifted closer to her, and others curled around her. The whispers grew, but she couldn’t make out their words.
Whose are these?
Now she was awake and confused, and she couldn’t get those whispers out of her head.
Maybe I had too much sugar last night. . . .
Knocking pulled her out of her thoughts, and she willed herself to rise from her bed to answer the door with a yawn. “Morning Olaf.”
“Good morning!” he replied cheerfully. “I hope you didn’t forget what day it is today.”
It took her brain a bit to process what day it actually was. Today, today. . . . What was yesterday? After a few more seconds her answer finally dragged itself to the front of her mind. “It’s Christmas Day, isn’t it?”
“Yup! Hurry up so we can give you your gifts!”
“I’ll be down in just a few minutes.”
With a grin, he scurried off down the hall, and she closed the door to search for her slippers.
“I don’t remember packing them. . . .” She dug around in her suitcase for a minute before sighing. “And they’re not here.”
“Slow down Olaf!” Anna said in the halls with a laugh.
Crafting some ice slippers to match her nightgown, Aneira brushed her hair as quickly and painlessly as possible before heading out the door just in time to see Elsa walking by. “Morning Elsa.”
The queen giggled at the brunette’s sleepy expression. “I guess Olaf woke you up too?”
Aneira stifled a yawn. “Yeah. I’m sure I’ll be fully awake eventually.” Down the hall behind them, her parents were just coming out of their room in their robes, and she briefly waved to them before walking with Elsa. “You know, Kristoff’s Flemmy stew wasn’t that bad. I think. Or maybe I’m thinking of another stew.”
“I think it was the one next to Kristoff’s that you had.”
“Was it? They both looked the same.”
“Kristoff’s had more carrots.”
“Oh.” Aneira frowned. “And after I told him I would try it. . . .”
The family soon arrived at the Christmas tree all in their PJs, and they gathered around the presents beneath it.
“Merry Christmas everyone,” Halina greeted.
“Merry Christmas,” Anna replied.
“I hope you all like your gifts,” Aneira said. She and her father then began to pass out their gifts to the others.
Anna’s was a small box, and she carefully untied the ribbon and removed the lid. Inside was an orange necklace of two wheat heads facing away from each other, and both of them were decorated with tiny little jewels. “Oh this is beautiful!”
Sven made a happy noise as he pulled out a brand new harness from his box. “ ‘It’s even got my name on it!’ ” Halina and James gave Kristoff an odd look.
“Ahem. I . . . speak for Sven a lot. But uh he says thank you.” Kristoff ran his thumb across the harness. “Wow. This is amazing quality.” Elsa pulled out a silk pink-ish long-sleeved nightgown, and there were even matching slippers inside the box.
“I hope they’re not too big,” Halina said.
“They’re perfect,” Elsa replied kindly.
With Kristoff, he had received brand new winter clothes complete with boots. “Woah. These look great!
“They don’t look small?” Aneira asked.
“No, no no they’re fine! Thanks.” Lastly with Olaf, he could hear tiny ringing inside his box, prompting a quizzical frown to appear on his face.
“Be really careful with that one.”
Doing as told, Olaf carefully opened his present. Aneira watched with bated breath as he gingerly removed a detailed ice figurine of the Yule Bell, and it dinged as it swung back and forth.
“I wasn’t sure what to make for you. . . . Do you like it?”
“It’s so cute! It’s like a little baby Yule Bell! I love it.”
“These were amazing,” Anna said.
“And now it’s your turn,” Elsa said, and Aneira and her parents were given their gifts.
Halina was given a beautiful pair of earrings while James was given a ring bearing his kingdom’s crest. As for Aneira, she was given a book she had been trying to find for a long time from Anna, an ice figurine of her horse Ivory from Elsa, new reins for Ivory from Kristoff and Sven, and from Olaf. . . .
It was a small box, but inside it was a wooden snowflake carefully put together by glue and painted a lovely light blue color. And when she held it up by its white string, it glittered in the sunlight. Oddly enough it reminded her of the snowflakes she had seen in her dream. . . .
“I tried to make it look like one of yours,” Olaf explained. “Although I’m pretty sure it has some inaccuracies to it.”
“It’s perfect,” Aneira said, smiling warmly. “Thank you.”
Sven began to sniff the air, and he licked his lips with an eager hum.
“Someone’s ready for breakfast,” Kristoff teased.
“We should probably get dressed then,” Aneira said.
“Oh I can’t wait to see what other surprises there are today!” Olaf said with a grin.
[Probably could’ve done a little better here but I wanted to get this up already. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this, though! Maybe next year I’ll finally put up that other Frozen mini fic I mentioned. But we’ll see. 😊 Also, if you have any questions about this or Aneira feel free to send an ask!]

The First Hansanna Christmas
DAY 6 of @hansannafortheholidays fandom event!
I didn’t have time to write out a prompt, so I’m compiling a list of fun head-canons for different AU scenarios.
Modern AU-- Christmas with the Westergaards
Hans’ annoying, meddling family invites Anna over to their ritzy estate for the holiday. It’s the entire family. Parents, twelve big brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins. You name it, they came. It’s a 90/10 divide of men to women. And that’s just the adults.
The few brothers that are married have a butt-ton of kids. Most are 7 and under. All bratty. The women-folk are stuck keeping an eye on them while their husbands go off drinking and socializing. Fun times.
Anna tries so hard to stick to Hans like glue. And he spends most of the time avoiding everyone. Except his mother. Somehow, she’s the only sane one in the entire clan.
Anna likes Mrs. Westergaard, aka Mama W. They share a deep love of chocolate, clumsiness, and cooking-catastrophe stories. Whenever she isn’t with Hans, she’s hanging out with Mama W in the kitchen.
The brothers all try to undermine Hans. They purposefully tell all of the embarrassing stories, pick fights, and overall try to make Hans snap. Joke was on them. Anna snapped first, and a third of them ended up with large bruises somewhere on their face.
Anna and Hans made it a point to sleep in as late as possible to avoid family drama. By the time they come downstairs, the brothers (and everyone else) pretty much devoured all of breakfast. Mama W makes something special just for them. Have I mentioned she loves Anna?
Christmas morning is chaotic. Presents are everywhere. Wrapping paper covers the floor. Kids go berserk. All the adults are waiting for it to be over.
Hans and Anna end up being the first of the family to escape leave. Anna had the unfortunate pleasure of adding majority of the family as friends on facebook. As soon as they get home, they all get muted/unfollowed. Except Mama W. They’ve practically become besties.
They don’t even unpack. Right away they change into their comfy clothes, park themselves on the sofa where they exchange their own gifts, then snuggle up under a warm blanket and marathon Christmas movies for the rest of the day.
Hans vows to never attend family Christmas ever again.
Frozen canon divergent/ redemption style Hans. (Hans isn’t a jerk).
Hans is super excited to celebrate the holiday among new family. His energy level rivals Anna when it comes to decorating the castle.
In OFA style, he participates in ringing the Yule bell, and is rather amused at Kristoff’s troll traditions. Unlike the sisters, he volunteers to try the Flemmy stew and even lick the Flemmy rock forehead. (mostly to show the girls up. It tasted terrible.)
Hans, Sitron, Sven and Kristoff were the ones to go out and locate a christmas tree. Only they forgot their axes. Oaken’s shop to the rescue! Prices get doubled for royal customers. At least Kristoff didn’t get thrown out this time!
Hans and Anna snuck into the kitchens late at night on several occasions to sample some of the deserts prepared for the Christmas ball. They managed to get caught once, but only by Olaf. A bribery of chocolate, and he was sworn to secrecy.
Hans’ biggest moment during the gift exchange was finally letting Olaf hug him. For Olaf, it was the best moment ever.
It snows heavily on Christmas morning. Anna drags everyone outside for the biggest snowball fight ever. Boys against girls. Hans protests Elsa using magic. She buries him in a snow-boulder before the war begins, but promises not to cheat with her magic. It didn’t stop her from making endless ammo for Anna to chuck across the courtyard, though.
ironically though, Kristoff and Hans won. (They utilized Olaf as a distraction. There are no rules in snow wars!)
Ulterior Motives AU
Hans and Anna go through the attics looking for holiday decor from years back.
A modest size tree is set up in the parlor. They, along with the servants, take part in placing the ornaments all over it.
Anna makes a point to revive the Yule Bell tradition from years ago (OFA)
She spends a lot of time outside in the village. She’s curious about some of the unique traditions of her citizens
Hans organizes a winter concert/show featuring Arendelle’s artists and musicians, and a play put together by schoolchildren. It’s held in the castle ballroom, and the entire kingdom is invited.
On the winter solstice, Anna takes some crocus flowers and places them at Elsa’s grave marker. Along with a handmade Olaf card, just like the ones she would slip under her sister’s door for Christmas each year growing up.
It’s the first time she’s gone to this spot since the funeral in July. And this time she’s alone. She sits on the ground for hours talking about what she’s been up to. Her hopes and dreams for the future. How Arendelle is doing. She asks about Olaf, if his spirit is up there with her.
Right before Anna makes to leave, it starts to flurry outside. Anna starts to cry. For her, it’s a sign that Elsa was listening.
Christmas is very low key. They’re treated to a fancier dinner and Hans and Anna exchange their gifts. She made a painting for him; he presented her with a proper engagement ring. They spend the rest of the day in peace, enjoying each other’s company.

Note
Frozen 2 headcanon for u: You know they had to stop on the way to the Enchanted Lands. Which means a campfire & a pot of Flemmy Stew that even Elsa agrees is quite tasty. Kristoff takes 1st watch & leans against Sven while the rest sleep. Anna insists she isn't tired & sits next to Kristoff. He plays his mandolin & Anna eyes droop until she leans against Kristoff & falls asleep. Elsa wakes & finds them cuddled together under Anna's cloak. Adorable, but they both snore louder than Sven does
❤❤❤❤❤ yay sleep!!!

What I’ve learned from Olaf's Frozen Adventure novelization
* at the begining of the summer the sisters started to have weekly picnics, with sandwiches (lol timeline)
* the idea to “celebrate winter” was Anna’s
* the Yule Bell had beed hidden in a storage since their parents had died (;_;)
* Anna got an idea to have a surprise pary for everybody. Both Elsa and the castle staff got very enthusiastic
* the preparations started, Anna was responsible for food (with Olina’s help), Elsa for decorations and Kristoff volunteered to shine up the Yule Bell
* Anna had some difficult time explaining to Olaf that he couldn’t tell anyody about the surprise party
* Anna and Elsa shared their accomplishments and asked about each other’s opinions (my heart is full, they co-rule so well)
* it looks like Elsa has only one comment to Anna’s every idea: “Perfect”
* Kristoff remembers last time the Yule Bell was ringing
* the clapper is lost (why English, why you call this precious part of a bell a clapper?! Don’t you know that this is a heart of a bell?)
* girls have presents for Kristoff, Olaf and Sven: new clothes. The blanket for Sven, the bow tie for Olaf and new fancy clothes for Kristoff. Kristoff thanks Anna with a hug
* then Anna shows two gowns. One is hers, the second is her present for Elsa. Elsa loves it
* Frederik the blacksmith agreed to make a new clapper (Anna hugged him when he made it)
* the poor servant that got scared by Olaf near the pile of gifts has a name: Nuf
* Anna greeted the kransekake with “Hello”
* Elsa added some magic to her dress, especially the cape
* Olaf lost his bow tie somewhere so Elsa gave him a new one taken from decorations
* anothe proof that Sven is super strong: he pulls a cart with the Yule Bell by himself
* yes, “Kristoff raced to the top of the tower”, fast guy
* Frederik is among men hoisting the bell
* the Yule Bell rang at noon (if somebody missed it)
* people mention some Norvegian traditions: rolling the lefse (a flat-bread), putting out porridge for tomte (little elves that keep the farms safe), making bordstabelbakkels (cookies)
* Elsa really seems to know her subjects by their names
* Kristoff tried really hard to cheer sisters up. Anna was more into troll tradition than Elsa, what was noticed by Sven who “was asking her to participate” by giving Elsa a clump of grass
* “Elsa gagged at the thought of putting her mouth on the sticky mound of mud and moss”
* Sven is a fan of Flemmy Stew
* Elsa “recalled feeling happy and proud as she and her family celebrated the start of the season”
* “Elsa knew she shouldn’t blame herself for the way the magical powers she was born with had interfered with their childhood, but she often did”
* Anna felt as terrible as years before when Elsa shut the door in her face
* Sven and Olaf are able to prepare Kristoff's sleigh for a ride
* the kid that gave Olaf a candy cane has a name: Ben
* in the book they bake a cake in the shape of Arendelle (not Norway)
* the liquid snowman is a thing
* Kristoff’s sleigh must always explode when falling from a cliff
* Elsa locked herself away in her bedroom. Not for long. She went to apologize to Anna’s bedroom
* Anna welcomes Elsa in the attic with “a goofy grin”
* Anna showed Elsa some of the other things she had found: her first bicycle, her favorite books, some birthday cards from their parents, marbles, pebbles, pressed flowers

Nontraditional Family Traditions
Happy, merry, holly, jolly season's greetings here @frenzy5150!  I’m your Secret Santa!  I hope you’re in the mood for some extra floofy, fluffy family holiday times.
Rating: K
Words: 3000
A/N- A series of intertwined holiday events taking place over several years.
The bell tower struck its loud distinct claps, signaling the top of the hour.  Anna rocked back on her heals in anticipation.  Everything was in place and ready to go.  All she had to do was be patient, but the thought of having to wait even one second longer had her ready to burst.
“Anna?”  Kristoff called out from the courtyard near the main doors.  He was where she told him they would be waiting and she could hear the confusion in his voice.
“We’re over here!  By the stables!”  She yelled so he wouldn’t head back into the castle to search her out.  Anna quickly ducked her head inside where Sven was waiting.  “Okay Sven.  As soon as you see Kristoff, come on out.”
The reindeer straightened up in preparation and Anna hoped he understood what she told him.  She turned back to face where Kristoff would come from around the corner.  Just then a small hand tugged at her hair, reaching for her braid and the pieces around her neck.
“You stinker,” Anna rubbed her nose against her son’s eliciting a giggle from him.  “We have to watch for Papa now,” she said and pointed where Kristoff would emerge.
Kristoff appeared from around the corner with a slightly frustrated look on his face.  He walked with a purpose, eyes down to the cobblestone. “What are you doing over here?  I thought you-“
“Surprise!”  Anna called out merrily.
Kristoff stopped dead in his tracks.  “…What are you doing?”  He finally said after scanning her up and down, trying to gain some understanding of what was going on.
“Happy, happy, merry Flemmy Day!” Anna exclaimed.
On cue Sven pranced out from the stables pulling the small sled.  He stopped next to Anna with a proud look.  Kristoff’s confusion turned to a look of wonder.  A smile pulled at his face as he looked at them.
“Wow,” he said as he walked up to her.  “Anna. You look amazing.”  He stopped and ran his hand along the moss cape she was wearing.  Then his gaze moved to the small version their son had.  “Where did you…  How did you…”
The baby was reaching for Kristoff and Anna handed him over.  “Bulda helped me sneak them out last time we visited.”
Kristoff raised an eyebrow at her then he lifted the baby over his head to a fit of giggles.  “You hear that Lukas?  Your mama’s a big sneak!”  He brought his son down and tucked him into his arms.  When he looked at Anna again, his face had turned serious. “But I thought we don’t celebrate here. I mean, we haven’t after the first year when Elsa banned me from making the stew.”
“She didn’t ban you. You just aren’t allowed to bring the stew into the castle.”
Kristoff chuckled.  “Same difference.  But really, what brought this on?”
“It’s Lukas’ first holiday and he needs to know about everything we celebrate.  It’s important.”
Kristoff placed his hand gently on her shoulder.  Anna followed from where his hand was and along his arm until she was staring in his eyes.  The look on his face showed his absolute adoration.  “Thank you,” he said quietly.
Anna brought his hand from her shoulder and placed it in hers.  She smiled back at him then tugged him over to the sled to show him the Flemmy troll she had made with Olaf, his cape, and some of the other things they could bring with them to the trolls.  Then she bent down, and when she popped back up she had Kristoff’s lute in her hand.
“And now it’s time for the gathering song!” she proclaimed.
“Anna,” Kristoff started. “We’re going to do this again in a few hours.”
“For Lukas,” she said, then reached up to kiss him.  “And for me.”
Kristoff sighed, but took the lute from Anna and handed the baby to her.  He strummed a few chords before starting into the song.
There once was a troll held in highest esteem
For his manner was kind and his fungus did gleam
The Ballad of Old Flemmingrad
Beloved by each troll girl and every troll lad.
Kristoff took his finger and lightly touched Lukas’ nose as emphasis on the last line.  As he went through the song, Anna danced around him with Lukas, laughing and babbling his baby noises and Kristoff thought his life could never be happier.
Two sets of eyes peered around the door frame.  They had managed to make it down two flights of stairs and through several hallways undetected and now they were so close to completing the mission.
“Almost there.  What do you think, bud?” Kristoff said, looking over at the three year old.  “Think the coast is clear?”
Lukas took another look into the room.  He hung onto the wood of the frame as hard as he could as he slowly stuck his head farther in.  After a moment he seemed to lose his confidence and pulled back.
“You check, Papa,” he said.
Kristoff mimicked the boy, poking his head in the room and then back out.
“Seems quiet,” he said. “You know what I think?  I think we need a plan.”
Lukas looked at him excitedly.  “Like what?”
“Well, we can go in really really fast or slow and sneaky or we could send our scout in first to see if it’s safe.”
“Yeah.  Because we don’t want to get caught.  Then we won’t get to make the stew,” Lukas agreed and stuck his head past the door again.
Suddenly there was a sound of pots clattering and Lukas jumped back to hide behind the safety of the wall.  From being on his hands and knees, Kristoff was about at eye level with Lukas and he could see how large the boy’s eyes and he was breathing hard.  Kristoff gestured if Lukas was okay and his son gave him a big nod that was accompanied with an even larger smile.
Lukas inched as close to the edge of the doorframe as he could without revealing himself.  “Papa,” his said in a mock whisper.  “Send the scout.”
Kristoff reached behind him for his daughter who was on his back with her arms wrapped around his neck. She squealed and clapped her hands when he set her on her feet next to him.
Brite looked into the room and immediately started toddling into the kitchen.  Kristoff let her walk a few steps on her own and was about to follow her when she fell back on her bottom, giggling and looking around the large room.
“Think it’s safe?” Kristoff asked.
Lukas nodded his head, but didn’t move.  Kristoff pulled himself off his knees and up to a standing position.  “Tell you what.  I’ll go in first, just in case.”
A pair of feet were on his heels as he entered the kitchen and lifted Brite up off the floor.  He stopped at the counter and pulled out a high stool for Lukas to sit on.  Once Lukas was situated, he held out the small sack that was in his hand for his father to see.  Kristoff tussled his hair with his free hand and smiled when Lukas called out “Flemmy Stew!”
He leaned down to get a little closer to Lukas.  “Do you remember what we need?”
“Carrots!”
“Carrots!” Kristoff called back, grabbing several and handing them to Lukas to put in the sack. “What else?”
“Potatoes!” Lukas yelled, sending Kristoff in search of them.
They rummaged through the kitchen finding all the ingredients.  When they were getting close to the sack being full Kristoff kneeled down to see under one of the counters out of site from Lukas.  “Comfortable?” He asked.
“Quite,” Anna shot back. “Now get out of my way. I have a performance to put on.”
And with that she jumped out, “I am the dragon and I’m here to take your Flemmy stew!”
She went over by Lukas with her dragon gloved hands.  He was smiling and trying not to laugh, holding the sack as far away from her as he could.  When he wouldn’t give it up, she tickled him until he couldn’t hold on anymore and she grabbed the sack triumphantly.  “Ha-ha.  Now you’ll never get to make your stew!” She proclaimed and raced out of the kitchen.
Lukas looked over at Kristoff, his eyes wide again, but so full of joy and excitement.  Kristoff pulled him off the stool and with Brite in one arm and Lukas holding his other hand, he gave his order.  “Get Mama!”
 “Is it done?”
“No.”
“When will it be done?”  Lukas threw himself down on the workbench for dramatic effect.
Brite watched him and followed suit.  “Now Papa?” She asked as soon as she laid down.
“Not yet.”
“But its taking foreeevvveeer,” Lukas whined then slumped back down on the chair.  He scooted down sideways to where his back was on the seat and he was able to arch backwards, letting his arms and legs hang down to the floor.
“You can’t rush perfection,” Kristoff answered back.  “If you want something to do, go play with Sven or go see how Mama and Reidar are.”
“But that’s boring,” Lukas protested.  “Reidar’s a baby and I’m five and he’s too little to be any fun.”
“And I’m three!” Brite exclaimed.
Kristoff walked over to Brite and tapped her nose gently.  “You know, Sven hasn’t had any snacks today.  I bet he’d love you extra if you gave him some.”
Sven, huffed in the background and stomped his hooves on the floor of the stable agreement.  Brite’s face lit up and she bounced over to the bin where Sven’s carrots were.
“Lukas, you can stay in here if you want, but I know Mama would sure like your company.  With the new baby, she hasn’t been able to spend as much time with you as she’d like.”
Before Lukas was able to answer, the door to stable flew open.  “It sure isn’t the holidays until it smells like wet fur around here!” Anna rushed in, closing the door behind her.  She looked over at the pot on the fire.  “Wow!  That’s some batch!”
“As popular as ever at the ice tree lighting ceremony.  I made double this year, and we’ll still run out tonight.  It’s a real crowd-pleaser, I tell you.”
Anna walked up to Kristoff, wrapping her arms around him.  “At least it tastes better than it smells.”
“And to think you doubted me once on how good it is.”  He kissed her forehead.  “How’s he doing?”
“So good.  I just got him down for a nap and I figured I’d see what the three of you were up to.”
“You should be resting.”
“I’d rather be with you for a while.  I’ll have time to rest before we head out tonight.”
Kristoff reluctantly let go of Anna and walked over to the makeshift table, pulling a chair out for her.  “The stew’s almost done and I promised these two they could each have a bowl now.”
He grabbed the stacked bowls from the end of the workbench, laying them out and took each one over to the pot, pouring in a helping.  Brite was back at a seat and Lukas was already reaching for a bowl as soon as Kristoff sat the first one down.
“Wait,” Kristoff said, stopping Lukas’ hand.  “They have to cool down.”
Anna looked down at the bowls.  “You should bring one to Elsa,” she laughed.
Kristoff chuckled.  “That would go over well.”
“Auntie Elsa likes Flemy stew?”
Kristoff and Anna both turned to see Lukas leaning on the table with a look of excitement on his face. “We should bring her a bowl!”
“Flemy stew!” Brite echoed behind Lukas.
Anna looked over and could see Kristoff’s face morph into that mischievous smirk she knew too well. “That’s a great idea,” he said.
Kristoff handed Lukas one of the bowls.  “Hold it with two hands and walk slow and go straight to Aunt Elsa’s study.”
Lukas nodded and walked away, letting Brite open the door for him.  Their chants of ‘Flemy stew’ rang out from the courtyard as they headed to the castle.
“It’d be a shame if any of that were to spill on the floors.  The smell will be there for weeks,” Kristoff said as he sat down, laughing to himself.
“You’re horrible,” Anna said.  “You know you can’t bring that in the castle.”
“I can’t,” Kristoff agreed.  “No one ever said anything about two adorable small children bringing it in because they want to share.”
“You’re going to be in so much trouble,” Anna said, unable to stop her own laugh now.
“Completely worth it,” Kristoff said sitting back and pulling a steaming bowl to him.
They loved to watch him roll, roll, roll!
With laughter he would roll, roll, oh!
Anna chuckled at the words. The song at this point had almost morphed into the children yelling their favorite part over and over as they raced down the halls.  From the sound of their voices, they were probably over at the main stairs, taking a much deserved break from their studies.  There was also no doubt at least one of them was attempting to slide down the banister.
She didn’t mind one bit. God only knew how many times she had done the exact same thing.  And they were having fun, which was the most important thing in Anna’s eyes.  Let children be children she always told the tutors and nurses whenever they voiced a concern.
For Flemy couldn’t roll, roll, roll!
Oh Flemy won’t you roll, roll, oh!
“Children enough!”
The voice was a stern warning, but they didn’t stop singing until there was silence as three sets of footsteps headed Anna’s way.  Ever since the holiday season kicked off, Brite and Lukas had been singing non-stop, much to Anna’s amusement and the consternation of their tutors.
“Watch this,” she said to Reidar, as she adjusted him on her hip.  “You’re about to see Mama explain exactly how she expects your brother and sister to be educated.”
--
Kristoff walked down the hall to the family wing, whistling a familiar tune and happy to be done with work at such an early hour.  As he turned the corner, he ran straight into Lukas and his instructor.  Instead of his usual greeting, the instructor only gritted his teeth, saying “Not you, too.”
“Hi Papa,” Lukas said with a solemn wave before he was led away.
He entered the family sitting room to find Anna and Brite sitting on the floor, encouraging Reidar to take his hand off the chair and take a step.
“What was that about? Kristoff asked, hitching his thumb back towards the door.
“Just a difference of opinions,” Anna said.  “I took care of it.”
Kristoff sat down on the floor next to Brite.  She climbed into his lap and gave him a hug.  “Where’d Lukas go?  He looked like he was taking his last walk.”
“Oh, I forgot to tell you,” Anna said.  “He started music lessons.”
“Music lessons?  He’s six!”
“I’ve been fighting it for a year.”  Anna lifted her head, speaking as snooty as she could.  “Apparently it is proper for royals to take up music at a young age.”
Kristoff shrugged.  “Seems unnecessary.”
“He’ll be fine,” Anna assured him.  “It’s only once a week and I told him he didn’t have to practice if he didn’t want to.  I figured he’ll either like it or his instructor will eventually give up.  Either way it works itself out.”
Kristoff turned his attention back to Reidar.  “So what instrument is he learning?”
A screeching airy sound like a dying cat pierced the air.  Brite held her hands to her ears.
“Really?”  Kristoff questioned.  “The violin?”
“My bet’s on the instructor giving up,” Anna said trying to hold back her laughter.
“And that’s why we have this tradition, kids.”
Kristoff looked around at his family.  He took a moment to admire Anna.  She had Reidar in her lap.  He was fidgeting, trying to get comfortable and clearly not understanding that in a few months it would be even more difficult for him to sit there.  Brite was idly tracing the swirls in her cape with her finger, following the softer moss as she watched Lukas stand up.
Lukas slowly took a few steps up to Kristoff.  His face was already red as he looked down at the rug.  Kristoff bent down and spoke softly to him.
“Are you ready?”
Kristoff waited until Lukas gave him a nod.  He reached behind the couch and picked up with care the instrument that was sitting on a footstool.  He handed it to Lukas and sat on the arm of the couch as to not be so imposing next the boy. Lukas adjusted his cape, making sure nothing was in his way and set the violin under his chin.
Kristoff plucked at a string of his lute until Lukas joined in, pulling his first note.  The sound was shaky, but he hit the correct note and held it while Kristoff strummed the chords to match.
Every December we all gather round-
His words were slow and deliberate as to not rush his son.
To pay our respects for a troll so renowned-
The notes changed to match the lyrics, stronger and more confident each time Lukas’ fingers moved on the strings and the bow switched directions.
In honor of the friend we have-
By the end, Lukas’ confidence increased enough where Kristoff was able to pick up the pace.  Brite had stood up and was twirling, holding her cape out and singing along with her father while Reidar clapped his hands, still in Anna’s lap.
As soon as the song was done, Lukas put the violin quickly on the couch as to make sure no one would request him to play anything else.  Kristoff knelt down to him and he gave his father the biggest hug he could muster.
“Great job, buddy!”
Lukas let go of Kristoff and crawled over to Anna, giving her an equally large hug.  He sat down next to her, leaning his head against her arm.
“We should get going if we’re going to make it time for the gathering in the valley,” Kristoff said, looking at each of his children before his eyes settled on Anna.  He was about to stand up when Brite leaned forward.
“Papa,” she said, tugging at his cape.  “First tell us about when you and Mama rescued Flemy from the fjord.”
“Well now.” Kristoff gave his daughter a warm smile.  “That calls for a completely different song, doesn’t it?” He said, looking up and winking at Anna.

Perfect Ending
Sorry for the lateness. This is the Christmas I have officially overextended myself. @sargar3000 I am your Secret Santa! I didn't forget you! The story takes place after the events of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Anna and Kristoff finally get some alone time together. Thanks for reading!
The Yuletide celebration lasted long into the night. Elsa was content and satisfied to see the whole kingdom come together to find Olaf, and ultimately to celebrate the season just as she had hoped. And with Elsa delighted, a weight was lifted from Anna’s chest. As their party walked back home she buzzed with satisfaction. She looked at her sister to one side, and then over to Kristoff who was holding her hand on the other. Less than a year before these three people had been strangers to each other. Now they were something much different.
Once they had arrived back at the castle Elsa excused herself to settle down for the night. She had noticed that Kristoff hadn’t left Anna’s side all evening. Elsa took the hint that they wanted to be alone together after the long events of the day.
With Sven stabled and fed, the young couple settled down by the fire in a comfortable embrace. Kristoff even managed to convince Anna to try some of his famous Flemmy Stew “It tastes even better after you’ve let it sit for a few hours” he said pouring her a bowl.
Anna knew she should have been tired, but she was beaming with energy. “This turned out better than I could have hoped for.”
“The stew?” he asked
“Surprisingly yes, but I meant everything, the whole day really. Thank you again for being the official Bell Master and Deliverer.”
“It’s still not a thing” he chuckled, “But you’re welcome. Thank you for including me in that way. I know it was important to your family.”
“It still is” she said “And you are family, that’s why I wanted you to be a part of it. And I must say, that you were the most handsome Bell Master and Deliverer in all the years that I remember.”
He leaned forward and kissed her nose. “Well your gift made the difference. I’ve never worn anything so nice in my life.
“Did you like them?” she asked anxiously. “I forgot to ask you this morning before the ceremony.”
Kristoff was almost at a loss for words as remembered waking up that morning. One of the valets had laid out the brand new suit for him, periwinkle blue coat to match Anna’s dress, black knickerbockers, waistcoat, shoes with gold buckles. Kristoff had been stunned. He had never had anything new in his entire life, let alone something that was made just for him. Even though he feared anything made by the palace to be restrictive and confining, his clothes couldn’t have been more comfortable. He had a feeling that Anna had a hand in making sure they would be fit to his taste.
“I love them Anna. Thank you.”
“I knew you wouldn’t like anything too fancy, so I told Malin to keep it simple. She used the same fabric from my dress to make your coat and she found a goldsmith in town to make the antlers for your belt.”
“The one thing I don’t understand is how did you get the size right? You didn’t measure me in my sleep did you?”
She paused a moment. “No”
Anna mentally kicked herself. That would have been a much better plan than stealing his clothes for reference. “I brought Malin some of your off season clothes so that she could work from them… and I may have made a few educated guesses”
Kristoff blinked “Is that what happened to my spare trousers?”
Anna looked ever so innocent, “I just borrowed them. They’re back on your shelf ready to wear. By the way there was a hole on the left seam that I stitched up myself; so you’re welcome.”
He gave her a playful wink, “You never fail to surprise me Anna.”
“I just wanted you to have something special for your first Christmas with us, all of our first Christmas together really. Something special that nobody else had.”
Kristoff smiled and grasped her hand in his. He knew the words that he wanted to say back, but as he started to speak he realized he may not be able to say them and hold back the emotion hiding in his throat. The words almost choked him until he blinked and cleared his throat.
“The best gift I have received Anna is you.” he said softly “You made us all a family and gave me the one thing that I have have wanted my entire life, to belong somewhere with someone.”
It was Anna couldn’t help but tear up at his words, “I love you so much, how I could I not? How could I not want you for the rest of my life?”
He pulled her in and kissed her gently. “I want that too.” he responded “I want us to be a family.”
Anna smiled and breathed out a laugh through her tears, “Well I saw that gleam in your eye while the children and I were playing with Olaf. Have you been thinking us having a family of our own?”
His cheeks turned puce, “I was just admiring how natural you are with them. But what do you think, maybe a few Christmas’s from now we should have one of our own?”
Anna giggled with embarrassment and hid her eyes in his shoulder. He pulled her onto his lap and pressed his forehead against hers.
“I think that would be perfect” she whispered to him.

Olaf's Frozen Adventure taught me two things:
Kristoff is super oblivious to literally anything when he makes Flemmy Stew.
Sven's communication skills have surpassed even that of Lassie.

The Ballad of Flemmingrad (Traditional Version)
There once was a troll held in highest esteem For his manner was kind and his fungus did gleam The Ballad of Old Flemmingrad Beloved by each troll girl and every troll lad
They gifted him berries and moss-cake and stew He gobbled with zeal as he zealously grew To such a large old Flemmingrad He always felt full and for that he was glad
They loved to watch him roll, roll, roll With laughter he would roll, roll, oh
Then one winters day humans crept up so fast The trolls had to roll through a tight mountain pass But dear old giant Flemmingrad He tried to go through but got stuck just a tad
The people were frightened and pulled out a sword So Flemmy, he blended right into the fjord The Ballad of Old Flemmingrad He never got out and for that we are sad
Wedged, but not forgotten
For Flemmy couldn’t roll, roll, roll Oh Flemmy, won’t he roll, roll, oh
And that’s why we have this tradition
Every December we all gather round To pay our respects to a troll so renowned In remembrance of the friend we had A jolly old soul we called Flemmingrad
We all dig deep down and we uproot the past We shove up its nostrils a fistful of grass In resemblance of the dear old lad We forge the mold of Flemmingrad
We shape his likeness, bless his soul Oh, Flemmy the fungus troll

I don't know why but I just LOVE his face when he picks a mushroom off of flemmy and throws it in the pot all while he holds Anna's gaze because he is serious about his stew. It's just too damn cute.
