oh god i dont remember

#racing! #did we have carpet in the living room in the yellow house?? #i know the play room was carpeted #i think the kitchen was tiled but every time i try to remember what the tile looked like its different #i just remember the tiling that the places i lived in afterwards and my brain tries to fill those patterns into that house #my bedroom had the foan puzzle mat flooring but what was under that?? #it couldnt have been carpet bc then thered have been no need for the foam mats #and there was a bathroom attached to that room with tiles in it so it couldve been tiled #but that makes no sense why would a bedroom be tiled #but I CANT REMEMBER WHAT WAS UNDERNEATH #the hallway. i learned to walk in that hallway and i cant fucking remember what kind of flooring it was #im scared to forget details like that about the yellow house #bc now its gone forever and nobody wants to talk about it so i dont have any way to know if what i remember is 100% correct #if i forget then who else would remember? who else would love that house? who else would keep the ghost of it warm and lit? #letting it go is out of the question #why cant i remember

741: Steve Aldrich - A Long Strange Trip

This episode is dedicated to those who remember the past and for those who want to learn more about our rich history. This week we travel back in time in our Grateful Dead VW bus and visit with magician and co-founder of the Foan Family Circus, Steve Aldrich. It was a simpler time when magicians were experimenting with new presentations and popular music of the time. It was at the height of Doug Henning’s popularity who was considered by some as a “Hippie Magician”.

Steve Aldrich also performed magic at the famed Tower Bar in Snowmass at a time when Doc Eason was still a waiter Steve and his band of merry men (and a woman) surprised and entertained magicians with their “tongue in cheek” original presentations of their “Foan Family Circus” at many magic conventions during the late 1970’s to early 1980’s. So what happened to the group? That and more will be the topic of discussion in this week’s episode.

Steve talks this week about the formation of the Foan Family Circus, their original presentations and music, their performances at magic conventions (one of which won them the Senator Crandall Comedy Award at Abbott’s Get Together), plus the origins of magic at the Tower Bar starting with Bob Sheets then passed down to Steve Aldrich and Steve Spill.

It's said that Wama, sick of the heat, stepped into the ocean to cool down. Foan enormous size caused the waters to rise up and flood the land, filling the dry spaces with water and salt. 

Foan happy splashes to cool down sent more water into the sky, which came down as rain and banished the smoke. 

The happiness of Wama brought water to all the land, and with it new plants to grow. Now, we Fress thrive in the waves sent by the Watermaker!"

Ok these are fantastic, let me go over my thoughts for each; the sona, despite being simple, actually works really well? like she looks chunky and huggable, the beans are super soft and the face is rly cute! the fashion style for her is just very adorable as well! i think your artstyle absolutely carries her design to an 8/10, super sweet :3 as for the tiger, wowa, she looks profoundly soft and huggable, with a really adorable haircut and face, you can really imagine hugging her and just being enveloped with fluff! thats just rly damn sweet. Bonus points for the way you draw paws too! 9/10, definitely, very nice to see the pastel colors too, huge foan of that <3

ok ok its not much- TW: Suicide/Self Harming

So I headcanon it's due to his parents kinda always expecting a lot out of him but also not caring about him and also a very loud household with lots of yelling

He comes to the newsies and it's a rough start, he doesn't really talk but finds comfort in reading books and having Specs along with Blink

Not really be allowed to show his emotions that well as others he gets sad and yes grumpy but it's more to himself. He wants to be like the others and smile but how does one smile

He just asks some dumb questions sometimes(like all kids) but when Race slapped him for asking what it meant to be king of new york, it brought back memories he didn't want right there and then

Race didn't even think of it, nor did he know his own emotions AND hey he was king and spotnoddedhisheadathim but he thought everyone had their bad days, not like Skittery who sometimes has a harder time getting out of bed than the others

Over time it gets better due to his partners (bumswiftery is a brain rot rn) but they noticed how bad his days can be, this usually is a day filled with 'I love yous' and cuddles along with jokes they can mess with each other lightly

Skittery is thankful for them and the friendship Specs and Blink they don't care if he frowns every day nor do they care if he looks off in the distance or that it takes forever to finish a sentence in a book

Race one day sees he's all "glum and dumb" and he makes a small comment but Skittery snaps at him

"Race will 'yos shut the fuck up or I'll run your fuckin' razor through my wrist so 'yos don't hav' ta see me anymore!" He's up in Races face, staring him straight in the eyes

The room goes silent and tense. Race didn't know it was that bad, sometimes other newsies were sadder than others but he tried to apologize, and it was too late Skittery was already running up the stairs and out on the roof

Swifty ran past everyone already knowing where this was going and he made it, grabbing his boyfriend by the suspenders and holding him to his chest while Skittery screamed about how he didn't belong and he wanted to meet his end

Bumlets hugged them both, tears were now streaming down his face while telling Skittery it was gonna be okay and they were gonna get through this

While some kids stayed in the living room others went to the bunk room to see if they could listen through the open window. Race stood there and Jack gave him a disappointed look while David frowned at him

It felt like Race was the child and being parented again, a mixture of "Race why did you say that and don't you ever think?" and everything else that came to their mind. It made Race feel bad and when David explained what Skittery was feeling most days he now felt like the one to be jumping off a building

The next day, after getting no sleep he thought of an apology that ran through his mind over and over again. When he walked in from the bathroom he could see Skittery wrapped in a blanket cuddling as close as he can to Bumlets

Swifty was whispering something to both of them about him selling triple than what he usually gets when Race cleared his throat and began his apology

Swifty and Bumlets let him off with a glare that said 'next time you do anything similar you will die'

But Skittery just looked deep into his soul, "Race do ya know what it means to be sad every day?" Then he dug into him, telling Race how hard it was to even open one eye in the more, or what his parents did to him, he tore Race to the bone, which he deserved but it still didn't changed the fact it hurt him, and now he knew how Skittery felt

That day of selling was strange to sell, and even when he told Spot about it Spot wasn't all too happy with him either but did tell him it was nice of him to at least apologize. Race stayed there in Brooklyn but didn't get any sleep because of everything that was in his head so he thought and thought until the morning light came through Spot's window

Race trudged his way back to Manhattan and he decided he didn't want to sell due to the fact of not sleeping so he closed his eyes for a few moments and but he felt the bed dip

"Racetrack." Skittery started

Race opened his eyes and sat up right away, "Hey Skits." He trailed off looking at him. Skittery looked tried more than usual, his hair hadn't been combed through in a bit, his eyes were dull and he seemed to be lost

They proceeded to talk out what happened and Race apologized multiple times and said he would be better now that he knew but Skittery sighed and told him to be more open minded, which now Race was and he was gonna keep that promise.

So when Skittery had those bad days, Race tried to cheer him up with jokes or sometimes getting him a new book after that Race never called him glum and dumb, he now understood what Skittery went through

Skittery now finds some comfort in Race
