Sen, zamanla yaralar iyileşir, duvarlar insanı saklar sanıyorsun, ama öyle değil, öyle değil. Bir şey insanın yüreğine yerleşince kimse onu yerinden sökemez!

I will always be on the side of those who have nothing and who are not even allowed to enjoy the nothing they have in peace. - Federico García Lorca

For many years now, I have lived with the unwavering certainty and total lack of confirmation that Federico García Lorca was a trans woman.
- "Un chien andalou" is a surrealist film made by Dalí and Bunuel, whose most coherent image features a person who shows up in femme clothes, gets chastised by a paternal figure, puts those clothes away in a box, and wears suits now. All three of them were besties in high school and signed letters to each other referencing the different regions of Spain they were from. Lorca was Andaluz. After they made the film, Lorca never spoke to either of them again.
- Lorca was executed during the Spanish Civil War, and the circumstances are not really clear, but the general rumor is for being a homosexual.
- Lorca writes a lot of different outsider experiences, which sometimes gets pointed to as a metaphor for the gay experience.
- But Lorca's writing is actually just constantly about hetero relationships, and some of it is ... kind of homophobic? Or at least, put off by Walt Whitman's brand of gay.
- Example of writing that sounds more like a trans experience than a homosexual one: Yerma is a play about a woman who is married but can't have children. The why is just not discussed. She just needs to evaluate what that means for her identity and reconcile with that longing.
- Lorca's female characters are interesting/nuanced/complicated, while male ones tend to be The Abstract Concept of Masculinity (like the paragon matador in Lament for Ignacio Sánchez Mejías) or just literally we-needed-a-dick-in-this-play, like the aptly named Pepe from the House of Bernarda Alba.
- Literally you want to tell me a man wrote the House of Bernarda Alba.

You will never understand how much I love you
Because you sleep in me and are asleep.
I hide you crying, pursued
By a voice of penetrating steel.
Rule which agitates both flesh and star
Already transfixes my pained breast
And the turgid words have bitten
The wings of your severe spirit.
Frederico García Lorca, from Love Sleeps in the Breast of the Poet, 1936

Soneto — García Lorca
O vento explora cautelosamente
[Agosto, 1923]
