Have you seen this childhood show: The Busy World of Richard Scarry (1994-1997), Canada and France (English)
Commentary/Context/Memories: No user commentary.
[Mod A: I did not watch the show, but I was OBSESSED with the books (in particular “What Do People Do all Day?”(1968))! I would re-read them so often because I loved the art style, details and all the information it had about the world. I remember being particularly enthralled by their depiction of the hospital, including how the kids got ice-cream after getting their tonsils removed (I remember being so disappointed when I was told I didn’t need them removed haha). The actual show is centred around life in Busytown, and each episode deals with a specific conflict that could happen in a town. Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm appears in pretty much every episode, but there is a rotating cast of Busytown residents (who are usually some kind of cat, dog, fox, goat, pig, mice, or rabbit) that will appear as a main character for the episode or will be in the background. The aim of the show is to get kids to understand what goes on in a town, what people do, and to be nice/empathize with workers who are trying to do their jobs. A main message was to encourage kids to be helpers in their own communities! Would’ve love to have seen this show as I find this universe so charming <3]
Hospital section attached here (I also added other memorable pages below the poll!):
Attaching more images of “What Do People Do All Day?” by Richard Scarry (1968), because this was one of my favourite books as a kid (it’s so nostalgic)!

Have you seen this childhood show: Inspector Gadget (1982-1985), United States, France and Canada (English and French)
Commentary/Context/Memories: No user commentary
[Mod A: I have seen a couple of episodes of this show, but I don’t think it was the 80s version (it may have been the 1999 movie but I don’t remember it well). It is about a “powerful but dimwitted cyborg police inspector” (according to the Wikipedia description which seems a bit harsh haha) named Inspector Gadget, so named bc he is a cyborg that can activate any of the hundreds of tools in his body with the phrase “Go-Go gadget”! His goal is to investigate and stop the evil plots of Dr. Claw and the M.A.D. (Malevolent Agency of Destruction). While it seems like Inspector Gadget saves the day every episode (and he actually does sometimes), it is actually the behind-the-scenes mechanisms of Inspector Gadget’s niece Penny and her dog Brain, who either help correct Inspector Gadget’s mistakes/plant clues, or they are disabling the traps that M.A.D. set up. Neither side knows that this 10 year old kid is the true mastermind (that fortunately is not working for M.A.D.). Researching this makes me want to actually watch at least the movies properly as an adult because the plot is cool and also because as a “cyborg” myself (I have a cochlear implant) I find the diverse cyborg characters in media very interesting, particularly when they are a loveable himbo like Inspector Gadget seems to be!]
