THIS HAPPENED. S/I is just so happy and excited to finally have some friends over to talk to. Meanwhile, Byakuya is having a mild conniption over the potential property damage Kokichi might cause.

While they’re all sitting down having tea together, S/I and Piero are laughing and having fun while Kokichi starts pulling faces at Byakuya who is absolutely about to loose it —

Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic while coming back from Morgause in The Sins of the Father AU for the headcanons

Ooooo this is such a cool idea!

Merlin actually tells him in angry! He didn’t mean to it just sort of happened.

Merlin is trying to explain why he shouldn’t trust Morgause as they travel back to Camelot. That she clearly has an agenda and is using him! Arthur states that Merlin doesn’t know what he’s talking about and he’s just anti-magic and it sort of slips out.

The look of horror on Merlin’s face as he realizes what he’s just told Arthur is how Arthur knows it’s true and suddenly he forgot his father entirely. All the anger is gone and only shock is left.

“What?”

This leads to a very long night of Merlin trying to explain well, everything. His magic, why he came to Camelot, the dragon, their destinies, all the magic stuff that’s happened, and why he doesn’t trust Morgause. Arthur going through a vast amount of emotions: he’s angry, sad, hurt, guilty, and back to furious. It’s a very long night.

Finally Merlin asks what Arthur is going to do with him.

Arthur is quiet before he asks, “what would you do if I sentence you to death?”

Merlin has wondered this himself many times, sometimes he thinks he would escape, run far away, other times hid in the shadows to fulfill his destiny, and sometimes, sometimes he thinks he’d let Arthur kill him. That one scares him though.

He replies honestly, “I don’t know… but I know I wouldn’t hurt you. If it came down to it, hurt you or die, I’d chose you.”

Arthur stares at him a minute before quietly answering, “well then it’s a good thing I could never sentence you to death, couldn't hurt you either.”

Merlin laughs there. Teasingly reminds him of all the times Arthur thrown goblets at his head.

Arthur scoffed, “those don’t count Merlin.”

Merlin asks what he’s going to do about his father.

Arthur is still so confused about everything but learning Merlin’s secret has calmed him. “I don’t know.”

Okay so I just had a THOUGHT. In fics there are often scenes where Merlin steals bites of Arthur’s food (and I think there is a scene in the show where Arthur comments that Merlin does it besides the Freya episode) but what if the reason Merlin does it isn’t because he feels like it or is fucking with Arthur but actually because he’s checking to make sure no one’s poisoned Arthur’s food.

Like what if sometimes in S1 Merlin catches or suspects someone bribing the royal food taster to poison Arthur’s food after he taste it.

Everyone knows Merlin is kind of a disaster/overworked and sometimes is late to pickup Arthur’s food. The taster uses this to his advantage and after everyone sees him taste the food he “watches the food” while waiting for Merlin to come pick it up and poisons it while the cooks are busy/not paying attention.

Merlin unsure when and which food the taster is poisoning just starts taking bits of all of Arthur’s food until a few days after he starts tasting Arthur’s food he collapses because YUP that was poison all right!

Gaius thankfully gives him the antidote and because this is fucking BBC Merlin, they tells Arthur that Merlin had a simple cold. Arthur complains that Merlin should have told him earlier but let’s him rest up, saying he expects Merlin back to work tomorrow.

Merlin gets rid of the taster (tells him he knows what he did and gets him to leave Camelot) & the briber but after that incident becomes paranoid about the royal tasters so keeps tasting all of Arthur’s food.

As time goes on though he stops trying to hide the fact that he’s doing it. Arthur just rolls his eyes at Merlin and kind of goes ‘ugh whatever’ because he’s Merlin.

Years go by and then one day Arthur finds some delicious treat in his room and smirks thinking he finally beat Merlin to the food and takes a bite then promptly collapses (idk how fast poison works y’all).

Arthur wakes up in his bed with a furious Merlin sitting at his side who after calling for someone to get Gaius and checking to make sure Arthur is okay starts yelling at him for eating the food before Merlin’s check it. And this is how Arthur finds out, that all these years Merlin wasn’t being a terrible servant and just Merlin, but has been putting his life on the line for him every fucking day.

Arthur knows that Merlin is a worrier, after all Merlin was always trying to talk him out of tournaments and quests that had any potential danger in them but he hadn’t realized Merlin would go this far. He is immediately horrified and furious.

He yells at Merlin that that isn’t his job and Merlin ends up telling him about the time he caught one the royal tasters getting bribed starting his whole tasting career.

Arthur of course is furious that Merlin didn’t tell him back then and Merlin just shrugged and said he didn’t think anyone would believe him back then.

This leads to Arthur feeling guilty for thinking that Merlin was just being a terrible servant and wonders what else has Merlin been doing silently in service to him that he hasn’t noticed?

it seriously blows my mind how like, sure you are about everything in s/i's story, like, i'm jealous at how you have everything perfectly planned out and honestly i wish i could be like that /gen /pos

Aww, thank you so very much <33 Although, in honesty, her story still has parts missing I am unsure about and has been changed over the course of me shipping them. If it's anything, writing is really trial and error - just never be afraid to put your ideas out there and start drafting things! I believe in you :) !!

I’m really excited to hear more about pregame Sadashi!! I love the content you’ve made for her so far and I am excited to here how it fits together!!

I ramble A LOT under the cut about how S/I has changed over the time and accidentally developing Chapter 4 of the KG:

I implemented Green Hills as a way for Byakuya to care about her before HP and consequently - the memory wipe (so he eventually has an epiphany in the KG he loves her) as I thought meeting in HP only wouldn't cut it. From a player's perspective, they are much more interesting to see interacting with each other with the background they have. I then figured making them somewhat childhood friends (and one another's first friend) reinforces their relationship and motivations regarding each other during Green Hills.

But as I said, I still do not have some things planned out properly. Chapter 4 of the KG is a perfect example. Originally, he locks her in his dorm room and is in there for the majority of the chapter (minus key moments). To quote that post:

“With a traitor loose, I do imagine he separated her from everyone else aside from him. And although this is a protective and caring action in Byakuya's eyes, it MUST come off as an “I control you as you are desired by me” action to the player to spur on how much of a threat he still is, seemingly only acting to his own wishes rather than hers.

He needs to acknowledge at the end of Chapter 4 he was wrong about Sa//kura and A//oi (as he does in the games), and wrong to separate S/I against her will even if it was well-intended.”

Although I do think it’s on brand for him (consider him taking Ki//rigiri’s dorm keys to control her), I feel like the fandom doesn’t have the cognitive ability to comprehend his extreme circumstance and his extreme feelings along with blatant lack of emotional understanding that made him do that. Even though it plays well with his development, I feel people wouldn’t like the ship since it seemed toxic from that moment rather than a learning experience.

The chronic overprotectiveness he has over her is meant to be one of the flaws in their relationship. He does somewhat isolate her and likes her growing dependent on him so he can keep her safe. He only trusts himself with her and stresses over loosing himself and everything he’s defined his life around if he looses her.

But, as their story shows from chapter 1-3, S/I is way more than capable of standing up to him when she thinks he is wrong. This is no exception. S/I is very intelligent, but fails in wisdom and rationality like Byakuya. However, she’s much more emotionally intelligent in contrast, making her the only person who can negotiate with him. I feel as if the player sees Byakuya brings up locking her up for safety when a traitor is revealed, posing it as a caring action for their finally realised love for one another. S/I will just calmly defuse him, she knows approaching him with aggression doesn’t do anything. So instead, he agrees to allow her around freely as long as they’re close to each other at all times.

Of course, during the investigation in chapter 4, they get seperated since Byakuya is the only allowance A//oi makes (aside from the player and maybe Kir//igiri if I remember correctly) to investigate the body. He throws a fit over it, but S/I manages to calm him down eventually when he’s starting to wind people more up with his anger.

And for the rest of the game he has cute moments with her in the library <3 They are seen apart every now and then in 5 and 6 with Byakuya becoming notably more tolerant along with an increased capacity to empathise with people who aren’t her (even though it’s small). He clearly shows a lot of genuine care an concern for her — like when you walk in on them together alone during free time, Byakuya can be seen resting his chin on her head and for letting her cry into him. They have an important dialogue here:

F: “It feels like... we’ve been like this before...”

B: “...”

“You can feel it too, can’t you?”

“Yes.”

“This whole thing… this whole ‘killing game’ — it just feels off. It’s like a dream. It’s like we’ve forgotten something so important we should have remembered.”

“I know. It’s mutual.”

“I feel it when I touch you — like I’ve lived like this for years with you. Like you’ve held me 1000 times before, just as you are now.”

“… but strictly speaking, we have never been like this. Perhaps your emotions are — confusing you.”

“For once, stop trying to rationalise. There’s no sense, logic, or rules in this place. I know that you know this isn’t so impossible.”

“I cannot deny the possibility that previously… we may have been— … I must keep you safe.”

“We’ll get through this together… right?”

“I promise. I pledge it on my family name. There is no power that can control the likes of me.”

“…”

“… Nothing will tear us apart, my Freya.”

“My… Freya?”

“… perhaps you misheard.”

And then they squeeze each other a bit ^-^

SJDJSJDJ THIS IS SO GOOD -

Like, I imagine it was during that weird 2 week period before their relationship where Byakuya FINALLY knew he was ridiculously in love with S/I and he was confident she felt the same. However, S/I clearly is devoid of confidence and isn’t making the first move outside of wanting to hold his hand, so he tries to devise a “civil and proper” way to confess and he just kinda blanks and writes a whole bunch of stuff and *boom* poem!!

He is so ridiculously out of touch with his emotions (especially before they got together) that once he goes to reread everything he's written, he is kinda disgusted with himself and throws it in the trash LOL. And he like, lies on his bed, staring at the ceiling wondering why on earth he wrote "such a horrific poem..."

Even in their relationship he's tried to write some to her and it just... never came out well. He is terrible at writing mushy love stuff, but it's charming he tries, hehe.

SQUISHAKUYA SQUISHAKUYA SQUISHAKUYA ♥️♥️♥️ Yes, I did get your previous ask and it made me so happy!! I got it while I was having a bit of a rough day so I really appreciated it <3 But now that you mentioned, it I ended up finding it in my drafts LOL. I remember I was writing it in my break in school, hehe.

Aaaa you’re so kind, Banaba ^-^ I love looking at all your gush and story posts regarding your ship too!! I would be delighted to gush, I love him after all <3

To be honest, he does help me with a lot of my issues, or at least keeps my mind off them. Recently I have been having good thoughts about him, and my more intrusive (?) thoughts are now dismissed and do not get into my head as much despite my horrid mental state. Sometimes it does feel as if he is my *actual super duper totally real* boyfriend - kinda, ahaha.

Honestly it is no secret I love all of him - even his temper issues and his general grumpiness (and that is putting it lightly). But I think by now I deserve to lay on his chest of an afternoon. I work really hard despite my current condition, I am highly recognised academically by my school, and I know I am loyal even to my own detriment, ahaha. Oh, and every now and then I feel a bit pretty ^-^ Even though that makes me sound SUPER pretentious I think it is important I try to gain my previous confidence back and see the good in myself. I remember an old friend of mine (an IRL) who got me into the series initially said he would think I am really clever and he’d like me a lot. I do not think that’s necessarily true, but it’s a calming thought.

I have not thought well of myself recently, that’s no secret to anyone. This is the first day I really had to face the consequences of my irrationality. It is too hot in Australia right now to wear long sleeves, so hiding the scars hasn’t been too easy, but manageable. No one noticed; they’ll heal over or be very faint in about a week. I can only hope I will not be so rash again. I have been occasionally thinking about it today but luckily the thought of him really stops me. He wouldn’t let me do that to myself. I love him so much. I know I said I wouldn’t do it again but obviously I broke down and did before realising I need help, badly. I really cannot argue I am normal of mind, at least at the present. Normal people do not do what I was doing and I have become aware of that now.

I just want to go into his arms and watch some true crime documentaries or whatever ^-^ He and I would love that. I need to be with him; I need him to be there for me.

i found a heart shaped piece of plastic with him on it on ebay its 537$ and it has the spike chunsoft copyright mark curving in the shape of the heart meaning it was specifically printed for this which brings me to the conclusion that this is 100% official

i dont even know what this is or where its from or who is selling it but it is interesting to say the least

THIS. JUST THIS. And yes! It is official merch! By the seems of it, all characters throughout the theee main games had gotten these cutesy pink heart badges with their signature colour on the top left corner.

$537 IS HILARIOUS THOUGH — on the subject of merch I wish Byakuya had a little official plush to have (like my last F/O had one which I got) but alas, he does not /lh

I have a little drawing I made of him and put it on my laptop with contact as a sticker last year and I’ve been thinking of making another one with S/I ^-^ so I guess I make my own little merch of him LMAO

Oh, I really love this! S/I definitely figures out that it isn’t her Byakuya pretty fast, there’s no doubt around that considering she’s known him for pretty much most of her life. I think they’d get along well though! Twogo acts a lot more altruistically and is a lot less grumpy than her Byakuya; I think they’d be good friends ^-^

S/I, having first-hand experience with Byakuya’s own issues around understanding emotions, could definitely help Twogo have a more thorough understanding of HIS VERY OBVIOUS FEELINGS FOR SADASHI, WE’RE GOING CROSS-UNIVERSE EVERYONE. Enter Freya Andreatides, not only the Ultimate Orator, BUT THE ULTIMATE WINGMAN. Honestly, I have no idea if that could fit within the timeline of your universe, but I thought it was a fun idea to get an OTP together ;) S/I has caught wind the he thinks Sadashi is ‘rather cute’, hee hee.

Byakuya and Twogo have a pretty interesting interaction in UDP, but I can’t quite remember what exactly was said. I think Byakuya did lash out a bit and wasn’t pleased, but both came to a small understanding (Byakuya still being a grump about it though). If S/I was in the room with both of them, I think most of her efforts would go to calming Byakuya down to the most of her abilities.
