Danny and the Spooks Pt2
This is a continuation of my other post Here
More specifically, this is where I’m dumping my ideas for it that involve crossovers, mostly with DC, as I know that stuff isn’t some peoples cuppa tea, and wanted to make sure it could be viewed and enjoyed by all.
So, I’ve come up with two ways for Danny and the spooks to mix with other fandoms. 1) Danny’s a known entity and (somewhat) trusted ally who is super protective/secretive about the tiny ass town he micromanages and 2) Danny and the ghost issues of Amity are more less unknowns and the hero’s of the verse show up only to be met with a (somewhat) functional crime fighting organization.
I’ll do the first version in this post and the second probably in a different post.
Phantom was one of the founding members of the league, and one of the most mysterious members at that. Although most of them had known about each other and occasionally worked together long before they came together officially 3 years ago to fend of Darkseid and found the league Phatom himself had come out of left field so to speak. Appearing with no warning in his bulky Hazmat suit and barely saying a word for most of the crisis, they didn’t really have any choice but to accept his help regardless of their (Batman’s) skepticism, and that decision to trust him payed out in the end as Phantom, despite being a complete unknown that could stay under the radar at that point, was apparently strong enough to give Supes and Wonder Woman a run for their money. They threw around a lot of theories about the guy, Superman seemed convince he was some type of alien while others thought he was a meta. Batman’s theory of choice was that he was a time traveler form the future with advanced nano technology, using cave paintings and historical records from across the globe that duplicated him as evidence. Aquaman and Dr. Fate think he’s some type of lord of order or God, with a capital G, because there was apparently some strikingly similar being who fought a Chaos deity to try and stop Atlantis from sinking.
But every attempt to actually investigate has ended “inconclusively”, as after Batman finally tracked down which town Phantom watched over he only got a few steps in before he got gently grabbed buy the cape and flew several states away like a misbehaving kitten getting grabbed by the scruff. Flash got the farthest in of anyone, sprinting in and getting about a block in before just appearing in Canada with sticky note attached to his forehead reading “Please stop stalking my grandson. :-) -CW.”
So when they were all in a meeting discussing where to keep the young justice team they were all surprised, to say the least, when Phantom offered to take them in and look after them Inside of Amity. Apparently(supposedly) the main reason he keeps everyone so far away from his town is because no one in the league has the experience and skill set necessary to properly combat his rouges, and gaining the experience and skill would probably include several mind control/body snatching/cloning/imposters/potential world endangering events and that just wouldn’t be worth the risk, especially with all of that resulting in their own rouges getting into contact with his, a recipe for one shitty weekend as he put it. But a little less than a week ago Luther used an intermediary to hire one of phantoms rouges to hunt Superman, which explains the bandage on Superman’s side. So now that the cats out of the bag Phantom want to make the kitty purr and prepare the rest of the heroics community for “the complete and utter nonsensical shenanaganery that he’s stuck dealing with” and The Team seems like a good opportunity for it.
I envision this whole meeting probably being told from Flash’s point of view, as he’s smart and goofy enough for some good humor and exposition but I guess it works for anyone. The Young Justice team wind up in mount justice while the main base of the Spooks, called the Grave or something else suitably on brand, is prepared just long enough to get bored and go rescue Superboy. Then the whole team and some of the justice league step foot into Amity for the first time, and then get a whole PowerPoint presentation explaining the town and its BS and are just Shook when they find out that Phantoms not some meta or alien or time traveling genius inventor but just some dead dude.
The team essentially gets fast tracked through the training for Spooks to make sure there up to snuff and begin patrolling and stuff. At first Superboy just can’t handle working in the R.I.P.D. and then he finds a ghost who whole shtick is “I need to punch shit”, which bridges the gap between the fighting he knows and the negotiations he doesn’t and helps him learn more about diplomacy and chill out, can’t decided if I want the ghost in question to be a boxer, sumo wrestler or really over the top westler.
As practice living a double life and going under cover they all have to get jobs and be Normal, but they all suck at being Normal. It just straight up doesn’t cross Superboy mind that normal people can’t use motorcycles to beat up convenience store robbers. At first he goes for the car, stops and goes wait a second that’s not something normal people can do and I’m Normal, so he picks up a Harley like “Yep, this is completely average amount of strength.”
Wally’s working in the kitchen of a restaurant and keeps accidentally using his super speed. Not enough to glow or spark, but more than enough for people to freak out. But he’s doing the work of 4 people which means management need 3 less people to pay so they just let him do his thing.
Robins such a gremlin that people think he’s straight up a child ghost very poorly disguising himself as a human child, using rafters and vents as short cuts with the justification “it’s not weird if they don’t see me do it” which makes it seem like he’s using invisibility, intangibility and teleportation to get around. He’s so quite when he walks that people come to the conclusion that he’s forgetting to walk and just floating places and/or trying to look like he’s walking like a Perfectly Normal Human Child but not actually making contact with the ground on accident.
All the locals see all this stuff and just go “Kids are kids, ghost, human or ecto-contaminated to hell and back.” And all make a group effort to hide them from the Fentons and GIW. The team, which is actively trying to investigate both groups, becomes convinced that the people they work for are in cahoots with the GIW and hiding their activities, but every time they switch jobs it takes like, a week for the GIW to get to them again(for them to go “oh poor children” and try and keep them safe).
It doesn’t help that the first friend they made in town is a scrawny little black haired blue eyed twink that they saw beat a mothafucka with another mothafucka in an alleyway on the first day of class, constantly pulls off what should be nearly impossible acts and disappears without a trace, further twisting their idea of what is within normal human limits. (They saw Danny fighting Skulker in human form at 3am in the Nasty burger parking lot because he was to lazy to shift forms, and they use the fact that the kid that can nonchalantly throw hands with a nine foot tall T9000 knock off as an excuse to get away with stuff. “Mr. I-fight-death-bots-with-my-bare-hands is the weakling at the bottom of the food chain, so me being able to do this it Normal. Probably.”)
Just a few ideas I had for this, will probably post more later. Drink some water and chill, peace out.

I just want to say, flat out, that I think Amber Heard is a narcissist, but after this Heard v Depp trial ended and a bunch of American right wingers started using the verdict to torture women who have accused them of abuse, I’m beginning to wonder if the intense support for Johnny Depp (of which i held as well until recently) was 1) warranted and 2) a damning sentence that will send us down a dark path as we revisit the #MeToo movement. Let me begin this by saying that even the clips I saw of Amber Heard gave me the impression that she had some intense mental health issues. I recognized some of my own toxic traits within her, and personally, I felt that something about her was off. I still believe that. What made me stop in my tracks in my support for Depp, however, was a twitter thread I randomly came across that clearly stated all the times Heard had been allegedly abused by Depp. There were many, and they were clear as day. Heard won that case in the UK for a reason. So, why did Depp win this case? Why was there such overwhelming support for Depp, even though Heard had clear examples of abuse? I have a few theories. The most obvious one being Amber Heard’s lawyers. I wondered, when I first saw them, if this was a joke. I thought this was just some big publicity stunt, and honestly, it may be. Aquaman 2 is set to release in less than a year, and Heard plays one of the main characters. My second theory is Heard’s lawyers were purposefully unprofessional to enhance the viral-ness of the trial, which ties in to my first theory. My third theory is that this was a classic celebrity narcissistic abuser v celebrity narcissistic abuser absolutely shmeared with hearsay and unmentionable acts (the shit on the bed, Depp’s finger being cut off) that Depp’s often drug-fueled rage seemed tame compared to Heard’s seemingly psychotic breaks. His abuse was a common type of abuse, sinister but easily painted as a “mistake” because he’s a Hollywood golden child. Heard’s was off the rails; perhaps she would try to mend the relationship and fail consistently, bottle all her emotions, then let them loose in a fiery hellstorm of creative punishment. Don’t get me wrong, I personally think they are both abusers, and I will probably be unable to watch them in movies for a long time now. However. The absolute backlash against Heard and how it has contributed to tiktok memes making fun of her, right wingers spewing misogynistic garbage, and the revival of the #MeToo movement that left true (male) victims like Terry Crews and Brendon Fraser in the dust frightens me. This trial had way more impact than any of us could have predicted, so everyone buckle up for another unfortunate chapter in future American history textbooks

Just going to put all my ramblings on the Depp/Heard verdict under the cut. I watched most of it live from the court since Depp's direct testimony. You can send me anons about it. You can disagree with me, but just know, if you get ugly with me it will be instantly deleted without an answer, so save your fingers the trouble.
I have always firmly believed every person who comes forward with a claim of abuse or SA deserves to be taken seriously, deserves a thorough investigation by authorities if they are called in to investigate, and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect throughout that process. No alleged victim should be not believed and dismissed out of hand; however, there has to be room to ask questions when the claims being made don't match up with physical evidence or witness testimony. It is possible to question claims in a way that is not misogynistic or gross in the way that the internet often is. These things should never be decided based on the fame, likability, or popularity of anyone involved.
I think both parties got the opportunity to present their cases in a fair and impartial forum protected from public opinion and influence. They both had zealous advocacy from their attorneys. The judge was extraordinarily patient and remained neutral to either side. By all courtroom reports, the fairly diverse jury was said to be attentive and seemed to be taking their duty seriously even after six exhausting weeks. I'm not sure anyone could ask for a better space to give their side of the story. I've seen a lot of bullshit being said that the jury was "obviously" violating their oath and being influenced by anti-AH tiktoks and memes which makes no sense considering they found in favor of her on 1 count of her defamation countersuit and awarded her $2 million in damages. I'm both surprised and not surprised by the jury's decision. Everything says to me they were very careful in their deliberations of weighing the evidence, finding the facts, and squaring those with the very high standards of law for defamation to be found. It's important to remember this was a civil trial over defamation, not a criminal trial over domestic violence. I thought this could easily end in a hung jury because defamation is so damn hard to prove in the U.S. If not that, then they would find for Depp on only 1 of 3 counts that had the best chance of meeting the legal requirements for defamation. The burden of proof is entirely on the plaintiff in these cases. The defense just has to argue the plaintiff doesn't meet the standard of proof. I thought very little money if anything would be awarded. I gave no chance to Heard's countersuit. I was not expecting a sweep of all 3 counts for Depp's side and I did not expect Heard to win on 1 of her counts. This verdict said "You all suck. We found one of you sucked more, but you each did at least one thing to legally defame the other." So clearly, even if they did not believe the majority of AH's claims, they were still willing to put some of that disbelief aside to take her countersuit claims seriously and hold Depp accountable for what they felt was proper. One side's legal liability did not automatically exonerate the other side of any legal liability.
To state the obvious, this was an incredibly toxic relationship. I am not on team anyone here. I just find legal stuff fascinating. And this case was fascinating in that defamation of a public figure is so ridiculously hard to prove because first amendment rights are pretty ironclad in most contexts. Idgaf about Johnny Depp or his pirate movies. Idgaf about Amber Heard or the future of the Aquaman franchise. I also strongly dislike the gross, misogynistic memes the internet made of this case. If you only kept up with this case from mainstream media, just know there was a huge disconnect between some utter nonsense that was being reported and what was happening live on the courtroom feed. Again, the comments I've seen have shown a high degree of misinformation or misrepresentation of evidence.
I was totally prepared to take AH seriously and 100% believe her. There were things she said on the stand that felt authentic and I believe are true and I still think are true; however, from all the many, many inconsistencies with the evidence and witness testimony, it finally got to a point where there is just too much (like a good 85%) that does not fit with her description of events. And I think Depp was able to meet a reasonable standard of proof that he did experience physical and psychological abuse at her hands with far less reason for doubt. The jury is the finder of fact and they get to decide what is true based on the evidence presented in court. By that standard, I think they arrived at the right verdict, even if I would have probably voted a bit differently. At best, I would only have found in favor of Depp on one count, based on the republication of the online version of the op ed headline. I think the other two counts were too broad and generalized to be specifically tied to JD, which would not meet the standard of defamation. AH's biggest enemy in that courtroom was herself. It was her case to lose. Defamation law was entirely on her side and she could have won a total victory if she had allowed her attorneys to argue just the law. Rottenborn clearly is a good litigator when it comes to arguing law. The strategy that actually played out seems like a client-led decision to argue for total vindication by putting her story to the jury. This instantly made her case more contingent on evidence to back up her claims rather than just forcing the burden of proof to be entirely on Depp. Unfortunately for her, her testimony, the evidence, and the witnesses her side presented were largely a shit show circus. Her credibility tanked, and there was nothing her attorneys could do to salvage it. Mad respect to her team for fighting that hard for her, despite their client going with a strategy that was probably against their advice. Everyone deserves good legal representation. There are aspects of AH's testimony that I found very disturbing. In normal settings, I can totally see how she comes across as very warm, personable, interesting, and cool. I can see why she'd have friends who believed her, felt protective of her, and wanted to back up her story. I suspect Dr. Hughes and her own attorneys also got really emotionally invested in her and felt that same protectiveness over her.
But I also think she also has very black-or-white, all-or-nothing thinking. It's all love or hate in relationships with no in-between. And this seems to lead to her becoming very angry and controlling when people don't meet her expectations. One of her former friends that testified called her friendship "consuming." Another said she needed to exit their friendship to focus on other relationships. She does not seem to understand how other people perceive her or how anyone could see things differently than her. There was a general tendency on the stand to be like "everyone is lying or wrong but me, including my own witnesses and lawyers." She threw her own team and expert witness under the bus 3 times that I saw.
She seemed incapable of conceding even the smallest point like the very real difference between "donate" and "pledge." Her claim to have donated all the money was a big reason the judge in the U.K. case found her testimony credible and thus ruled in favor of The Sun. It's not nitpicking. That manipulativeness of language had a real impact on the outcome of a trial. There were a lot of mincing words and manipulating language usage in her testimony. It's not a big leap for the jury to go from thinking she was being evasive and minimizing about the donate/pledge thing to also thinking she's being evasive and minimizing about hitting/punching JD. It did seem like she was convinced that her narrative was so rock-solid and convincing, that the jury would just find in her favor no matter what else happened. Such as listening to a recording of her admitting to hitting JD in a very gaslight-y way and literally saying no one would believe a man was a victim of abuse. I don't think she was able to consider the possibility of losing because she was overconfident in her ability to force a narrative that people would believe no matter what.
I have personally experienced psychological workplace abuse by a woman that would do a very similar thing of forcing her narrative on others. She could be my biggest cheerleader one minute, making me want to work my ass off for her because she said she believed in me that much. Then she'd go to extreme lengths to do really fucked up shit to rip my self-esteem to shreds, adamantly deny she did anything wrong, and claim I was actually the one causing her grief by "not caring enough" about her and "everything she did for me." Or that I "made her" lose her temper and become explosively verbally abusive. Those people are certainly not common, but it is believable to me that AH could have a mindset exactly like this. I've seen a lot of commentary from female SA/DV survivors who said they saw a lot of similarities between their experiences with their abuser and AH's mannerisms and way of speaking about her interactions with JD.
Yet, I still think AH deserves compassion. She seems like a very damaged person who was shaped by some very horrific childhood traumas. If she has BPD as a result of her childhood, that's a terrible tragedy. I'm sure that has made maintaining healthy friendships and relationships extremely difficult just by the nature of the disorder. I hope she can get therapy, heal, and make a better future for herself. And I think if that happens, I hope people can allow her a second chance. I hope Johnny Depp does what Robert Downey, Jr. did to save himself: take at least a year away from Hollywood, cut ties with his many apparent enablers, and go get sober in a treatment program. His drug and alcohol abuse problem was something that existed long before he met Amber. There was credible evidence presented that he had been damaging his own career and reputation with his own fuckery for at least a few years. IDC what anyone says, actively using drugs and drinking as an addict damages your relationships and especially damages your kids. Having an addiction problem does not automatically make him a liar or an abuser or even a bad person, but he's not a good father or partner when he's choosing to not be sober. I say that as someone who has struggled with alcohol, failed at sobriety, and has been sober for 9 months now. While he admitted to having a problem and feeling bad about it, it still felt like he was minimizing a lot.
Even if he never laid a hand on AH, smashing up property is still unacceptable behavior and can legitimately be read as threatening in itself. AH was not responsible for his choice to drink or use drugs, no matter how toxic their relationship was. And I did find one of the text messages he sent to a friend to be full of utterly vile, disgusting, and heavily gendered language that seemed to go beyond mere anger and venting. That was not funny to me. It was repulsive. I don't think I ever heard another victim of DV describe an ex-partner in similar terms, no matter how much they hated that person. And I'm sorry... if you are painting on walls and lampshades with a bloody stump of a finger, you need help. That behavior is insane and disturbing. I don't know how he wouldn't be in agony unless the was high out of his mind.
I can also believe he was possessive, controlling, and insecure about her working with younger, attractive male co-stars, especially when he was high or drunk. He married a much younger, very attractive woman who he was able to dazzle at first. But he's in his 50s, his career is starting to hit the rocks, and he is making himself less and less appealing over time with the drugs and booze. That he would be paranoid and accuse her of constantly cheating with everyone is plausible to me. That part of her testimony came across as very authentic.
But does being an addict and an asshole translate into committing physical or sexual violence at least one time in their relationship? If either type of IPV happened at least once, it can't be defamatory. I just don't know. I can't rule him out completely as a violent actor on at least one occasion. (And I don't think the jury did either). TBH, there are still many murky areas here where no one outside the two of them will ever know for a fact if he did or did not ever hit, push, kick, or slap her at least one time (not self-defense). Not every victim needs or seeks medical attention for every incident. That's not a reason to disbelieve anyone in itself.
Except that what she described on the stand were many incidents of frenzied violence and horrific beatings that she said resulted in serious injuries and bruising to her face, scalp, back, arms, feet, and genitals. She said she barely escaped this relationship with her life. If the photographs had shown injuries even a tiny fraction of the damage she described, I would have fully believed her without hesitation. There was just nothing there in the pictures except what looked like to me, at worst, grayish eyebags of tiredness under her eyes, which is very different from the black eyes and broken nose she claims are shown in that picture. The tiny raw spot on her lip looked more to me like it had been chewed on rather than split open as she described. This same picture had 2 versions that showed at least some evidence of being saved from some photoshop program in the lines of code. Make what you will of that.
We do, however, have documentation at the hospital of JD's physical injury during the Australia incident, and the photographs and witness statements line up best with his version of events and not at all with hers. Ben King worked for Disney, not JD. It was literally his job as house manager to document the damage for cleaning and repair because the house was a rental property. It doesn't make sense he never saw, documented, or replaced any alleged smashed phone that was a key part of AH's version of events. She said he smashed a phone to smithereens on the wall next to her head and that was how she claims he must have lost the tip of his finger. Dr. Richard Gilbert's explanation of the crush injury to Depp's finger made perfect sense as to why the top of the finger would be intact after being struck by the blunt force of a thick bottle against the edge of a marble bar counter. I cannot see how it is possible for these types of physical injuries she described to be invisible to multiple cameras on different occasions or to her own personal nurse that examined her, who is also a mandatory reporter.
This is what made her look dishonest in too many key areas to the jury. Her descriptions of what happened were wildly out of proportion to the evidence. If she had said she was slapped, I could see how that kind of injury wouldn't necessarily be visible in a picture and would never count that against her. But she said this was a frenzied attack where she was pummeled in the face repeatedly and manually strangled to the point of blacking out in what I would call one of the worst accounts of a beating I've ever heard. I'm not even going to get into the SA part. It's not unreasonable to think a person who went through something like that would need immediate medical attention, even if it was to only set a broken nose properly (important for an actress) or to get stitches for her glass-shredded feet. Many SA victims do not seek medical attention for valid reasons, so there is no issue with her not doing that. However, many DV victims do seek medical attention for severe injuries, they just make up an excuse for how the injuries happened.
This insistence that her word should be believed no matter what any of the evidence says, including some evidence from her own side, because it's her word. Because #believeallwomen. Because if you question her on anything at all, you're a monster that protects powerful men from being held accountable, which is bullshit. This makes no room for any accused person to have any defense whatsoever, no matter what the evidence says. It makes no room for discernment in instances where it is possible a woman could be weaponizing the justice system against her own victim due to gender biases and assumptions. In a similar way, there is a long, documented history of white women weaponizing the justice system against black and brown men with false accusations that were believed without question. It's another tool of power and control. This is all water from the same well of patriarchy that also overwhelming makes women the victims of men's violence. Those two things can absolutely coexist within patriarchal systems of oppression. "Believe her no matter what" is a terrible standard that is ripe for abuse, even when the vast majority of victims are telling the truth and should be made to feel safe and supported when they come forward.
That is why I was so prepared to believe her and say fuck that guy, because statistically speaking, there was a high probability she was telling the truth. I have been inclined to believe people when there was no available evidence that pointed one way or another. She never needed to be a saint or angel either for her to be a credible witness. All she had to do was give testimony that aligned more with the facts and evidence than not, plus she would have had defamation law squarely on her side. There was a clear path to victory here, but it seems like she decided instead it was better to push a narrative that was more violent, dramatic, shocking, and prejudicial as a means to garner the jury's and the public's sympathy. Well, clearly that strategy did not go well for the most part because it came off as very inauthentic even if it contained some truth. In this case, it's not just one thing. It's not a few things. It's a lot of things, too many things, that did not add up for me from what I saw and heard in the courtroom.
And yet the jury still found enough of a reason to rule in her favor on one count of her counterclaim and award her 2 million. I don't know, maybe this was a bit of splitting the baby to avoid a hung jury. We will only know if one of the jurors decides to come forward and talk about why they arrived at their decision. For now, I don't think they were so much pro-Depp or inherently more disinclined to believe female victims. I think they were just average people that reached their limit of entertaining any more of the many dubious claims coming from AH's side, and that cut a pathway to victory for JD that helped his team run the ball the rest of the way. People generally dislike being bullshitted and misled, especially when they are exhausted and their lives are disrupted to that degree.
You are free to disagree with me. You are free to see all the evidence and testimony differently. If anyone wants to say "I still believe her and her version of events makes the most sense to me" that's fine by me. I don't think less of anyone who has a different point of view on this. You're allowed to decide for yourself and I respect that. But if you think my agreeing (mostly) with the jury's decision makes me unfeminist, or an abuse apologist, or an anti-AH internet troll, or an unhinged JD stan, don't bother telling me about it. None of those things are remotely true. Just unfollow or block or do whatever you feel you need to do.

DC STUDIOS SLATE - FEBRUARY 2023
A bit late but here are all the updates from the new DC Chapter 1 announcement and what’s to come after the DCEU reset, which you can watch here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wY8XcmrIujE
~~~General notes
-Last month the entire DCEU (DC Extended Universe, DC's live action movies) was announced for a reset (no more Gal Gadot Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill Superman, etc; there were a lot of changes you can look up)
-DC's CEOs are James Gunn and Peter Safran; Gunn (who worked on Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy") is the one heading the reset and rearranging of the DCEU
-Gunn states that DC has been disconnected from film/television/gaming/animation for a long time; he aims to connect them more and create character/actor casting consistency that works within one story (presumably the DCEU)
-Anything outside of this (Matt Reeves' “The Batman”, Todd Phillip’s “Joker”, "Teen Tians Go!", etc) will be clearly labeled as DC elseward (not part of the DCEU)
-Gunn and Safran have begun mapping an 8-10 year plan of DC's future projects; this first chapter is called "Gods and Monsters"
-There will be 4 projects coming out over the next year
~~~2023 Future Projects
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Gunn states Shazam has been in its own corner of the DCEU but will now connect directly into:
The Flash
The Flash will reset the entire DC universe
No mention of whether Ezra Miller will continue their role as Flash or not, though there is reports that Gunn and Safran are open to Miller's return
Blue Beetle
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Will lead directly into the Chapter 1 projects
~~~First Look at Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters (not the full slate)
Creature Commandos
Animated TV series
Gunn plans to have characters move in and out of animated works, hopefully voiced by the same actor who plays their live action counterpart (think if Jason Mamoa kept doing his live action Aquaman stuff, as well as voice acted in whatever animated/gaming works the Aquaman character appeared in)
Waller
Live action TV series
Story of Amanda Waller (the one who created the Suicide Squad; she's like DC's Nick Fury)
Waller will team up with members from the Peacemaker franchise
Will be played by Viola Davis; story created by Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Doom Patrol)
Superman: Legacy
Film
Gunn says this will be "the true beginning of the DCU"
Written by James Gunn
Will release in theaters July 11, 2025
Lanterns
HBO live action TV series
Story of John Stewart and Hal Jordan (a few other Lanterns will be peppered in)
Terrestrial-based show (almost like "True Detective" according to Gunn) where Hal and John will act as space-cops watching over precinct Earth; they will discover a terrifying mystery that will tie into the largest story of the DCU
The Authority
Film
Based on the WildStorm characters, who will be brought into the DCU and interact with all the primary DCU characters
Group of heroes who think the world is broken, and will fix it by any means necessary
Gunn's passion project that's a "different look at superheroes"
Paradise Lost
Live action TV series
Story of Paradise Island/Themyscira, the birthplace of Wonder Woman
"Like Game of Thrones with Westeros, but with the inhabitants of Paradise Island"
The Brave and the Bold
Film
Introduction to the DCU's Batman
Story of Batman and Damian al Ghul, based on Grant Morrison's comic run
Damian is an assassin and Bruce Wayne's biological son, who he tries to get in line; this is the story of them and "the beginning of the Batfamily in the DCU"
Booster Gold
HBO live action TV series
Booster Gold is a "loser" from the future who uses future technology to become a present-day superhero to gain love and admiration
"The superhero story of imposter syndrome"
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Film
Will turn Tom King's comic run (under the same name) into a "big science fiction epic"
Supergirl, unlike her cousin, was raised on a floating chunk of the destroyed planet Krypton after witnessing everyone around her perish; this film will explore her as a jaded character
Swamp Thing
Film
Very dark horror story about the origins of Swamp Thing
Will be outside of the DCU yet still feed into those stories
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Personal Opinions
-I was never invested much in the DCU, just never seemed as appealing to me as Marvel, but if I hear good reviews I'll give it another shot
-Very relieved to hear the non-DCU stuff is still happening since that's where my DC interests lie
-If "The Flash" resets the DCU its a must watch if you want to keep up after this point, but if Ezra Miller is in it I don't want to watch; that mf should literally be in prison why are they still not fired (they replaced Gal, Henry, possibly Jason, but NOT Ezra? Tf?)
-I don't know much about Blue Beetle but I've seen a lot of hype (I'm also a fan of Jaime Reyes, BB's protegee) so I'll probably check it out (cheers to the BB x Booster Gold shippers lmao happy for y'all)
-I love animated stuff and would love if more comic characters got attention instead of the same lineup we always get so I'll be keeping an eye out for Creature Commandos, the characters look cool (plus its animated). Speaking of underrated character getting a spotlight...
-I AM SO FUCKING HYPED FOR WALLER. She's a hardass recruiter like Nick Fury and Viola Davis is an acting god so I am very pleased to see her getting her own stuff (plus more Peacemaker crew! But if y'all overshadow this series about a plus sized black woman to focus on the white boys in Peacemaker I'm throwing you off a pier); its also got Watchmen and Doom Patrol people working on it omfg its gonna be so good I am vibrating rn
-another Superman movie, they better make it stand out (I heard it delves more into Supes exploring his Kryptonian heritage beyond the powers which will be interesting, especially considering he was originally a metaphor for immigration rights)
-LANTERNS. L A N T E R N S. JOHN STEWART MY FUCKING BELOVED HE'S BACK. no seriously growing up I adored the animated Justice League series and John and Shiera were my favorite part of it, I'm so happy to have John back (also don't know much about the Lantern Corps so it'll be fun for me to learn more); let it be known that if Shiera x John makes a comeback I will actually disintegrate and ascend into Themyscira. SpEAkiNg oF-
-no amount of capslock keyboard smashes can convey to you how much of a slut I am for Wonder Woman and the Amazonians. It simply cannot be done. Any excuse for more Amazons I will latch onto like orphans to Batman, I NEED THIS (plus new amazons maybe? more amazona? Hippolyta? Artemis?? Nubia? yARA-)
-Midnighter. Apollo. Midnighter and Apollo. I would scream but my dog is present (seriously I'm gonna be so annoying about them when this drops, I've waited YEARS for these two). As for the rest I'm not as familiar with them but similar sentiment to Commandos, I'm excited to learn about new characters
-as a batfam stan first and a person second, I'm always nervous about how DC will handle them. I'm hoping it won't just be Son of Batman in (presumably) live action (also side-eyeing Gunn for calling Damian "Batman's actual son" like the whole ass rest of the batfam ain't right there); I'm also wondering why they're completely skipping over all the other robins/batfam and going straight to the current one, some of the others are very underrated and deserve to have their origins expanded on (mainly Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, Duke Thomas and Tim Drake for on screen stuff); kind of a let down for me that there's no other news but can't say I'm surprised
-ok ngl the pitch for Booster Gold was strong and I am honestly invested (that last line was raw); rip BG stans he literally called your boy a loser im so sorry lmao (but lets be real that's exactly why you love him isn't it?)
-I'm used to a Kara that's very preppy and reactive so seeing her being jaded is gonna be interesting, I'm very excited and might honestly even check out Tom King's source material
-I know next to nothing of Swamp Thing so this'll be a nice way for me and others to get to know the character

Amber Heard tells NBC News' Savannah Guthrie that she still loves Johnny Depp despite his defamation court victory over her. Celebrity News Amber Heard is optimistic about the future. In the last section of her exclusive interview with Savannah Guthrie for NBC News, Heard, 36, stated that she has "no ill will" toward her ex-husband "at all." [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1500"] Johnny Depp; Amber Heard | CREDIT: KEVIN DIETSCH/GETTY; RON SACHS/CONSOLIDATED NEWS PICTURES/GETTY[/caption] "I love him," the actress stated in part two of her interview with Guthrie, which aired Wednesday on Today. "I loved him with all my heart, and I did everything I could to salvage a badly shattered relationship, but I couldn't." Following a six-week trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, a seven-person jury decided on June 1 that Depp, 59, showed the Aquaman actress defamed him in a 2018 op-ed. (Depp has maintained this position.) He said he never assaulted Heard and that she physically hurt him.) Diverse DC p.1~Speedsters
1. XS/Jenni Ognats(Black/white biracial)
Tumblr media
Jenni is the daughter of Barry Allens daughter Dawn Allen and Jeven Ognats. She wasn’t born with any abilities , however after seeing her father in danger, her connection to the speedforce was Unlocked.
2. The Flash/Danica Williams(black)
Tumblr media
Danica Williams is the flash of the Batman Beyond universe. Whos father was a STAR labs scientist who studied Metahuman technology. Danica grew up with dreams of becoming a trackstar, but due to having many medical conditions including asthma, she lost hope. It was also thought that Danica had mental illness due to her claiming to see and hear figures that nobody else could. Though it turns out that she was actually communicating with speedsters from multiple different realities through an initially unknown connection to the speedforce. After she was urged to save a man from being hit by a train, it was revealed that she had superspeed, and eventually mastered the ability to run on air molecules. She was also the love interest for Billy Batson/Captain Marvel
3. Kid Flash lll/Wallace West(black/white biracial)
Tumblr media
Wallace West ll is the niece of Iris west and the son of Daniel West, the second reverse Flash. He was initially portrayed as a delinquent and a troublemaker, however after being adopted by his aunt Iris, he began to ease out of his delinquent behavior as he began to look up to the Flash(not knowing it was Barry Allen). After a future version of himself went to the past and gave Wallace powers, he gained a hard to control and unpredictable connection to the speed force. He used his new powers to become the Flash’s new crimefighting partner. After being caught in Central City’s speedforce storm, his powers became more stable.
3. The Flash/Avery Ho(Chinese American)
Tumblr media
Avery, like many other Central City citizens was caught in the Speed Force storm, giving her a connection to the speedforce. Her new abilities were unstable, and Avery’s cells involuntary constantly vibrated themselves, with her being unable to stop them. She was visited by Barry and another speedster named Meena Dhawan(whos up next) who helped teach her how to use and control her powers. After a while, Avery was recruited into the Justice league of China. Shes also Wallce’s best friend.
4. Fasttrack/Meena Dhawan(southern asian descent)
Tumblr media
Dr. Meena Dhawan was a scientist at STAR labs who was caught in the speed force storm, giving her all the usual speedster powers+the ability to sense or Track others with a speed force connection (hence the name Fasttrack). She dedicated herself to training the next generation of speedsters who were also caught in the speed force storm. She was a villain at one point, but thats not important.
5. Irey and Jai West(biracial, white and Korean)
Tumblr media
Jai and Iris “Irey” West ll are the twin children of Wally West the first, and Linda Park. They both have their fathers connection to the speed force, however, while Irey has the usual superspeed, Jai’s powers are…. Weird. He can use speedforce energy to accelerate his muscle growth and give himself super strength, but has also been shown to use the speed force to shapeshift when in distress.
6.Bolt/Alinta(no last name yet),(biracial,black/white, Australian)
Tumblr media
Bolt is a new speedster who was first introduced during the future state event. Nothing is currently known about her origin, but she has been shown to be a member of the Teen Titans and the Suicide Squad. Also,shes a disabled speedster. However, not the first(fun fact: Bart Allen/Impulse has a prosthetic kneecap). Also, im 90% sure shes black. I saw one tumblr user say she was of Australian aboriginal origin, and if I can find any confirmation I’ll change this immediately.
Edit: I saw her origin story in the comics, her parents are shown to be a black woman and a white man. So, shes biracial.
Edit: We now know more about Bolt! She was a little kid when she found her speed, and the reason she can only run in short&quick sprints or bolts, as opposed to long distance runs like others speedsters, is because she found an incomplete speedforce equation. Her parents used her for their family business(which unbeknownst to her, was traficking illegal goods), until she lost her legs an was given new ones by Amanda Waller, who is now desperate to get her on the suicide squad because she wants a speedster now lol.
7. Kid Quick/Flash/Jess Chambers (black)
Tumblr media
Not to be confused with Jesse Chambers, Jess is another new speedster, who was also introduced during Future State. They are Nonbinary and use They/them pronouns, and come from the genderbent Earth-11, where they are the nibling (gender neutral word for nephew/niece for those who dont know)of Earth-11’s Flash(who happens to be Jesse Chambers). They are also seemingly romantically involved with Aquamans daughter Andy.
8. Godspeed/August Corazón Heart(Latino)
Tumblr media
August Heart was Barry Allen’s partner, whos brother was murdered around the time period shortly before Barry Allen was struck by lightning and became the Flash. Hes brothers murder case was dropped, and he was distraught. After gaining superspeed by the Speedforce storm, he designed his own suit and became a ruthless vigilante, going on criminal. Barry eventually learned that August was Godspeed, a hint was that one of August’s victims was his brothers killer. Eventually, August was killed by Eobard Thwane aka Reverse Flash.
