Heartbeat

Against a black background, child Vash floats in Ship 5, curled up and with his thumb pressed to his mouth. Heartbeat noises sound around him, and he looks at peace. The background shifts to white and shows adult Vash, sitting shirtless with his knees pulled up to his chest. The heartbeat sound continues only to be interrupted by knocking. Wolfwood, from outside the bathroom, asks, "Hey blondie! You fell asleep in there?"

The scene expands to reveal Vash sitting curled up in the bathtub, shower spraying on the back of his head. His clothes are left aimlessly on the bathroom counter and floor. From outside the bathroom, Wolfwood, shrugging of his jacket, continues, "… The sand steamer leaves at dawn tomorrow so don't take all night. I'm not waking you up gently if you're late." Vash's eyes continue to look downward, glazed and unfocused. Step sound effects and a yawn sound from outside the bathroom before Wolfwood says, "'m going to bed…". In the tub, Vash sits curled up against a dark background, before eventually lifting his head and unfurling himself as the background grows lighter.

He twists around to turn off the shower and then looks at the floor, going, "Ah." He sits, thinking, before calling out "Wolfwood?". A sleepy Wolfwood replies, "…yeah?" from offscreen. "I forgot my towel!" Vash exclaims. "Ugh, look under your change of clothes… Knew you'd forget so I left it there…" a grouchy Wolfwood replies. "Gee, thanks!" Vash replies, a cartoony doodle of him saying "so reliable!".

Vash, shirtless but with sleep pants on, opens the door, towel draped over his head, to see Wolfwood, reclining on the bed. Wolfwood's smoking and holding his rosary, lit by the light from the bathroom. Vash climbs into bed next to him, towel still around his shoulders, and rests his head on Wolfwood's chest. His eyes close and then open to see Wolfwood watching him. Vash exclaims, "Oh! It's speeding up!, and Wolfwood bonks him on the head before saying, "Get on here since ya wanna be so up close 'n personal!". The two tussle briefly and Vash laughs before Wolfwood tucks the blanket around them. Wolfwood continues to smoke as Vash curls up against his chest and listens to his heartbeat, the background turning black once again as he smiles, content. /end id]

I always keep a small desk fan running. Primarily because I need constant background noise, but also because it makes my desk too noisy for the borrowers to strategize and communicate while up there, which is wonderful, cause those fuckers keep stealing my good markers.

thoughts on Ginny and Harry as a couple?

There are a lot of people who find their romance in HBP forced. I don't think it's forced so much as underwritten, and the books don't get the chemistry quite right (though the movies certainly don't, either). There's potential, but they just don't get enough actual scenes of substance (besides Harry thinking she's pretty or feeling jealous of Dean) for a lot of readers to buy that they're not only in love, but deeply enough in love to break up, get back together, and wind up married.

That's not to say I don't see the appeal. There's a very cool scene in Book 5 where Harry's doing a woe-is-me-Chosen-One act, and Ginny effortlessly puts him in his place about it by reminding him that she was possessed by Voldemort at eleven, which is a rare glimpse into her character and also a great synecdoche for their relationship — Ginny is a grounding presence who, like Ron and Hermione, isn't going to be awed by his past adventures because she knew him before they happened. In that respect, Ginny's probably one of the few women Harry could feasibly wind up with, because he only ever seems comfortable around people (let alone girls) who can see past the Chosen-One schtick and treat him like a normo (see: Ron, Hermione, the Weasleys, Luna, Hagrid). True to type, he doesn't get interested in Ginny at all until she's ditched her celebrity crush and ceased to view him as an idol, because in his heart of hearts, Harry wants to be a normal boy, and it's stressed over and over that part of what he likes about his relationship with Ginny is how normal it feels. He kind of has a horribly supercharged version the celebrity dating problem: after the Battle of Hogwarts, anyone he meets is going to know him first as Harry Potter, Chosen One, Boy Who Lived, and Actually Fucking Resurrected Messiah of the Wizarding World, which is... I mean, it's possible that there are witches out there who could get over that, but Harry's not an extroverted guy, and I'm not sure how he'd go about finding them. Ginny's the one who's been there since the beginning, doesn't need anything about him or his past explained to her, and actually likes him for who he is.

When you look at it that way, it's not surprising he married his high school girlfriend. She's one of the few people still alive who doesn't see him as a demigod.

I don't think Harry is in love with Ron in the original text #I do think he LOVES ron and projects that love onto the Weasleys very quickly ginny included #and I think Ron is his soulmate platonic or otherwise in every universe #so marrying Ginny has like. Implications. vis-a-vis Harry's status as a Weasley and adoptive brother[in law] of Ron #like it's a full-circle moment where he becomes officially legally a member of Ron's family #which I do believe JKR had in mind. even though that basically means ginny's wedding becomes kinda... actually... about her brother... #it's weird basically. my final verdict is I wish H/G had been written by an author who was more interested in Ginny for Ginny's sake. #greenteacup asks

❤️ Cam - He is used to silence with MC. They have been friends for so long that he knows they can't constantly be talking. For him, it doesn't bother him. He may not bother to fill the silence, instead enjoy doing nothing together.

💙G - Our cold bae, G is used to being the quieter one. More used to sitting and thinking. Though they will have a few things to say, G is comfortable just sitting holding MC's hand, and listening about their day.

💚 Kara - She isn't comfortable in silence. It makes her anxious. It give her too much room to think and then overthink. Wonder if she is being used for her namesake alone. She would try and fill the silence with little phrases, something. It's a nervous habit, one she can't really help. MC could help this by soothing Kara, with words, actions.

💛 M - Listen, Marshmallow can be very quiet, it's because they're thinking though. Not that they aren't paying attention to MC, just envisioning things. M would suggest watching anime to fill the silence if MC was uncomfortable with it. Then talk about their feelings of it later.

💜 Isaac - They don't do well with silence, they would much rather be doing something. It's not that they're not comfortable with their partner it has more to do with they're not comfortable with their own thoughts. It's hard to be sometimes.

🖤 Ardent - Oh he will be filling that silence by petting Cupid (if she let's him.) He is used to time spent doing or saying nothing, thanks to his niece. If it's something MC is uncomfortable about he is willing to do something to prevent it so they don't feel insecure in their relationship.

Not sure if anyone remembers me I didn't post that much haha. Funny story so I lost the password to this account and completely forgot about it until I was cleaning out my emails and found the email it was attached to.

It's been like two? three? years... whoops. Idek if the mcyt g/t fandom is alive anymore. I was re-reading my Quiet fanfic and honestly the writing style is so atrocious- I could write so much better now (Psych major, Literature minor- I'm an adult now lol) and I'm heavily reconsidering a rewrite since I think I could make the ending/some plot points much better.
