#YDGcon23 The Young Dems Convention in Savannah was absolutely amazing. Truly proof that work and fun not only can go together, but work better that way.

Oh, my.
Trump being scared of my vote, the vote of ATLiens MATTER. (See Outkast or perhaps how I pumped gas aside of them once upon a time omg, y’all)
More importantly, a prosecutor protecting it matters more, as nothing was stolen and election interference isn’t a minor thing. It’s a major thing.
I know where I live and I love where I live. I also support Fani Willis, despite or with, whatever Trump might have to deal with.
That was about my vote. I’m also not a black person and I’m not the one they were not trying to silent. I am not the person who truly took care to to count votes, with their hands, allowed a space and did it with their hands. Truly just being focused on in a way that is unfair.
All votes were counted. Women, black women, were targeted.
It’s not lost on me that a black woman is making it a point to make sure that Trump is pushing back for what he deserves.
Ruin him, please. Or make him more anxious.
Georgia being purple makes a Republican go bonkers. I love it so much.

Let this send a very clear signal to the nation. Do not assume that those of us who live in her district stand behind her, or that her stunts and shenanigans are anything that we support.
6 donors from her district. That’s all she could muster. Only $2,500.00.
Given the lack of financial support from her constituents, one can only speculate as to how she got enough money to run her campaigns.
While she did win the last two elections, and by a large margin, it seems that it was more of a result of GOP party-line votes than anyone conscientiously supporting her insanity.
As a citizen in the 14th District, I feel embarrassed and humiliated daily by her antics. It is reassuring to know that I am not alone and that even her most open supporters don’t care enough to give her any money.
Given that she has done absolutely nothing for our District or the state of Georgia during her time in Congress, that should be no surprise.
Don’t be fooled. MTG speaks pretty much only for herself. Don’t assume that Georgia stands with her.

Elections, same as advocacy work, are all encompassing.
It was not my intention to be this entrenched in politics. But with today’s political climate, people like me are needed. The average person is needed, their lived experience is needed.
Because my disability is political, my reproductive system is political. It is all political and policy is a means of survival.
These races in Georgia are weighted by what we believe and know to be at stake. It is a fight that will not end with races called late last night, it isn’t a fight that will end with December 6’s runoff.
I used to say that I was too sensitive for politics, and that is still true. Being this entrenched in this election has exhausted me, keeping faith but knowing numbers are objective.
Madeline’s race, a labor of love, was also a loss this year. But it helps me keep the faith. The campaign was a group of 8 college students working their asses off for a year, and without prior campaign experience might I add. The 5,500 votes Madeline received in response is something I am proud of. 2024 will know Madeline Ryan Smith as a state representative.
Feel every feeling you have surrounding these election results. Know the fear, frustration, anger, and grief. Process it all. Vent, drink, commiserate. Seek out therapy if the anxiety following this election as a minority is too much. Feel it all and know the fight will still be here for us tomorrow.
