HeartGold really do be my favorite pokémon game, not in spite of but BECAUSE it's slow and tedious and a pain and hates you. Growing your team is slow, depending on what team you have it can be a hike to unsuck their moveset as well, the postgame forces you to HM-slave to get to Erika's Gym and Pewter City, everything knows double team or confuse ray or ATTRACT, it sucks. But on the contrary I feel like a god when my Pupitar that I've painstakingly raised from a Larvitar finally evolves into a Tyranitar and OHKO's Blue's Pidgeot with a Stone Edge that didn't miss. Or even earlier when my Bellsprout sucked complete ass, but the moment I bought it Solar Beam it could start to carry its weight on the team. It's just so much more rewarding for me to succeed when I've had to work for it. I think the peak pokémon experience is always gonna be whichever entry point you had in the series, and as a gen 4:er I will die mad about the mandatory EXP Share and I kind of miss the really slow health bar drops because A) Good for multitasking B) It adds tension to me to see if a move will actually be a OHKO or not. I think modern pokémon is a lot more approachable, and it's probably more fun on a technical level. But I don't want fun. I want to suffer. And conquer. Also I got Ho-Oh in a quick ball this time around which was pretty funny. Remake Johto is also my favorite region aesthetically, I love the music and I especially love Ecruteak. I love being followed around by my little dudes and the flavor text you get when you talk to them. I love Silver, best rival, my shitty little tsundere son, trying so hard to pretend to be Not Mad when you kick his shit in but you can tell he's pissed about it. It just makes me happy like no other entry in the series rly can, and I treasure it dearly. Also fucks me up that it's over ten years old now what the fuck.
Gonna try to nab Suicune tonight and then maybe time travel scum to get all the gym leader numbers and just grind for an eternity until I can beat Red for the second time in my life. Fuckin lvl 88 pikachu. Zero chill. Love you HeartGold

OK, I seriously can't believe someone actually thinks this about season 4 of Never Have I Ever:
"In 2023, the message of the show suddenly turned into *"racism, white supremacy, patriarchy, and class inequity doesn't exist anymore. Devi did a Bollywood dance, got into Princeton, and a racist white guy said he loves her at the last minute, so everything is going to be okay (for Gen Z)."*
This is the opposite of the premise that the show started with in 2020, which acknowledged the brutal unfairness in the world."
Firstly, it wasn't a Bollywood dance. They danced to the Tamil dubbed version of a song that is originally Telugu. Tamil cinema is known as Kollywood, and Telugu cinema is known as Tollywood. Maybe people who comment so much on racism should learn a little more about not clubbing all of Indian culture together. As a Telugu woman who lives in Tamil Nadu, I'd like to say that I was really happy with the dance number. I was especially happy because it wasn't a Bollywood dance (season 1 just used Hindi songs, and that really annoyed me because Devi is Tamil).
The show literally acknowledged that Devi ("our little hothead from the valley") was happy in that moment. There was no claim about everything being okay forever. It's just that she is better equipped to deal with problems now. She will continue to grow non-linearly, just like she did throughout the show.
Of course, the show became less about dealing with intense grief as it went on - time heals. But they did portray that grief still lingers, despite that.
Also, the portrayal of familial relationships was great - Devi talking about how it's cool to live with three generations of women in her house, Nalini having to deal with empty nest syndrome, Nalini talking about her own struggle with having to start over in the US after being a top resident in India (but of course, the last season does not acknowledge how brutally unfair the world is /s) and how she was just trying to protect Devi from being devastated, Devi setting her mother up (showing how much she had healed and grown since season 2), Kamala being too attached to her family to move away and Nalini telling her that change is good (and even Kamala's coping mechanism of becoming overprotective of Nirmala), Kamala and Devi's sweet moments, the family's acceptance and joyous celebration of Nirmala finding love again, Nirmala calling Nalini out for being mean to Devi, and of course, the heartwarming scene of Nalini helping Devi pack and telling her she's proud of her. Devi's final monologue focused primarily on how much she cares about her mother. Did all of that mean nothing to some people?
Never Have I Ever is not an unproblematic show. But I still can't believe it's being reduced to this. I. Seriously. Just. Can't. Devi was so much more comfortable in her skin than when the show started, and was no longer obsessed with external validation. Her relationship with Nalini had improved greatly. She embraced her culture so much more. She was okay with not getting into Princeton, and realised that she'd always be connected to her father no matter what. I don't mind that she didn't completely give up on her Princeton dream. I don't think she needed to, to show that she had healed. She was able to tell her dad's story in a way that felt true to herself, and did not feel exploitative (she reclaimed her power from a racist white guy). She was truly happy when she prayed to the gods before leaving to Princeton. She was surrounded by people who cared about her and loved her, as she said. And she was happily in the middle of a fun game of Never Have I Ever before Ben showed up. She had learned to love herself and her life. The show having a happy (for now) ending does not equal them saying that everything is going to be okay forever. The world is still brutally unfair. Devi is just a little better at dealing with it.
I don't know who needs to hear this but Never Have I Ever had a TEAM DEVI ending! Just because Devi was not single at the end of the show/ended up with someone you dislike, it doesn't mean that the ending wasn't a win for team Devi.
TEAM DEVI FOR THE WIN! AND THAT'S WHAT WE GOT.
I'll acknowledge that there were issues with the show throughout all four seasons. But I can't see such an empowering show being dismissed in such a ridiculous way.

Like, it was bad, y'all
I've been revisiting FiM because a friend decided to check it out (after she realized it was a significant part of my personality and wanted in on it), and by god, did they do a racism. And then another one. And then another one. And then-- you get the idea.
And I'm not talking about the weird ways in which they tackled the subject of racism itself, most notably on the later seasons. Setting aside awkward lessons in "be nice to those who look and act different from you", gen 4 is loaded with racist caricatures, cultural appropriation, tone-deaf storylines of conflict between natives and colonizers and a heap of other elements that, later on, the writers seemed to realize were, hmm!, not so great!, and therefore quietly phased out of the show without ever addressing them in a sensible way. Things that go as far back as episode 5.
It's late and I don't have the brain power to tackle all of these right now but I just want to list some of the things I'm deeply umcomfortable with in the show that I can recall right now:
Zecora as a character AND as the only zebra we see in the show for all of 9 seasons. Simultaneously the Token Black side character, the Magical N**** stereotype and the fact that she's described in the show as an "exotic" outsider. (You know, later on they had an Egyptian-coded character appear in the show. She was a pony. I never got why they didn't use that opportunity to fix The Zecora Problem)
The Buffalo episode. Speciically the fact that settlers took their sacred land and they were told to just "learn to share" and it was ok because the settlers gave them pies about it
That scene where Pinkie Pie dresses as a stereotype of Rroma people (which spawned a very popular arc in a parody that had her saying and singing the G-slur in multiple songs.)
The imperialism in The Crystal Empire (not king Sombra, the fact that after they defeated them, rather than letting a Crystal Pony rule the empire, they put Cadence, who is from Equestria, on the throne)
After deposing Chrysalis, the one changeling put in charge was the one the ponies had a good relation with (something that happens with startling frequency between the US and cartain parts of the Middle East)
The uncomfortable power dynamics between the pony races (especially the Hearthswarming Eve backstory)
The W*NDIGOS
And that's just off the top of my head. That's just what I can remember at 1 am while frantically typing in the dark.
The fandom's white supremacy problem suddenly isn't all that surprising when you realize how BAD things were in the show. It's not like it was doing much against that kind of bigotry.
And for the record, I'm not trying to "cancel" FiM. I still love this show with all my heart; it's really important to me, and it's still a good show that, in a way, kick-started the 2010s cartoon renaissance. We owe a lot to it. But that's exactly why I'm so upset by it's failings as a show that defined itself by its morals on friendship and standing together against hadship. To see the glaring blind spots on a show created by a white woman, with a writing room full of mostly white people, who despite having good intentions really did not know what they were doing sometimes. It hurts me as a fan of colour, and it hurts black and indigenous fans most of all but not exclusively.
Hopefully, now speaking a as someone aiming to be in the animation industry, we can use this as a learning experience, so we grow to be more critical of our own work, and maybe our own shortcomings won't be offensive or hurtful towards any demographic we may want to represent.

What are some of your favorite games of all time?
This is a great question, more questions about video games, less questions where people make up things I never said and demand I defend those positions, XD
Anyway, here's a short list:
Pathfinder: Kingmaker. The best isometric RPG ever made, in my opinion.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. The best version of one of the best games ever made.
Mass Effect Trilogy. Yeah the third one shit the bed in a lot of ways, but I still enjoy the series as a whole. Playing a game series where your choices carried over from one game to the next was groundbreaking in the 2000s, and I always enjoyed my time with these games. Especially rereleased in the legendary edition.
Resident Evil 2, Original and Remake. My favorite Resident Evil game of all time. Great game, great story, great characters.
Resident Evil 4, original and remake. Second favorite Resident Evil game. Also, my husband's favorite game ever. I love seeing him get excited over it, XD
Suikoden 2. Great gameplay, great story, best game in the series.
Tales of Zesteria. Mikleo my beloved!
Jaws (NES). Yes, it's bad. Yes, it's short. No, I don't care. This was one of the first games I ever owned, and me and my dad used to play it together when I was very little. I have a lot of fond memories of trying to figure out how to beat the game with him. I still remember how excited we were when we started to figure out the gameplay loop for the very first time.
Mortal Kombat 2. The game that introduced me to the series, and still one of my old favorites. I still play and love MK to this day because of it.
Kingdom Hearts, whole series. I can't really pick one game, because they're all both really, really good and really, really bad, XD. But I love the story and the characters, and I've enjoyed each of them in different ways. But if I had to pick just one, I'd probably pick 2.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Still the best Star Wars game ever made. Still one of the best western RPGs ever made. The plot twist is still one of my favorite moments in video game history.
Max Payne 2. Ugh, so good. Great storytelling, fun gameplay. Took everything great about Max Payne 1 and did it better. RIP James McCaffrey.
MegaMan Battle Network, whole series. Probably the best reimagining of a classic IP I've ever seen, from the old days when "reimagined" didn't mean "vandalized". I was several years older than him when the first game came out, but in a lot of ways I grew up with Lan and his friends, and these games will always have a special place in my heart.
Jade Empire. Another great BioWare western RPG. Great setting, good story, unique characters, and really good and unique-for-the-time combat.
Soul Nomad and the World Eaters. I don't even know why I like this game so much, but I do, lol. They should have given the male PC a romance ending with Gig, though >_<
Pokemon Red and Blue. Pure nostalgia entry, but even though there are a lot of boring Gen 1 haters, to be a 10 year old kid when the original US Pokemon craze was at its peak was something special, and the games and the Pokemon will always be cherished in this house. Gen 1 supremacy, noobs!
Batman Arkham Asylum. You have no idea what it was like growing up a Batman fan and a video game fan in the years before Arkham Asylum. Every Batman game was terrible. It was a running joke how no one could do a good Batman game. Hell, half the word of mouth for AA was "did you hear someone's trying to make a good Batman game?" That they got many of the incredible voices from Batman the Animated Series back was even better. RIP Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin. (And fuck Mark Hamill)
Legacy of Kain, whole series. Aside from Metal Gear Solid, this series is the definitive master class on video game storytelling and voice acting. I love the plot, I love the characters, I love everything. I hate how the ball was dropped so hard after Defiance, because that game set up an amazing follow up that just...never happened. It was such a sad fall from grace, because in the early 2000s this was the AAA game series. Everyone loved it. Everyone was desperate for the next game. And then it just kind of fizzled out after a few missteps and developer woes. And it died a quiet death in a proto-live service multiplayer game that no one wanted and even fewer people played. And while the tragedy is appropriate to the Gothic setting, I'm still hoping against hope for a faithful remake of the first games that spurs the original developers to finally finish the series the way it always deserved.
Honorable Mention: Final Fantasy 8. Gonna be honest here, 70% of my love for this game comes from fanfiction, lol. I played the game when I was a kid, and didn't really like it. It was weird and looked bad (I played it long after I'd gotten used to the "modern" graphics of the PS2 generation) and even with a Codebreaker and cheats the final boss was super frustrating. But there's some really great FF8 fanfic out there. Stuff I reread every few years. And it's given me a phantom nostalgia for the game.

Does Jared even hang out with anyone that's not a racist, gun-crazy, MAGA idiot at this point? I've never been his biggest fan but this is genuinely worrying.
Idk man. Like Jake seems fine I guess. Mark at least was willing to work on his show. Gen and Charlie have been trying to raise visibility of working together.
But yeah that's about it that I can think of. I know he was hanging out with DJ towards the end of SPN since DJ mentioned they don't see Jensen or Misha out much, they "stay home and do their own thing", so for the last while there DJ was more Jared's van buddy. But the ostracization really seemed to stack between the arrest, then guttedgate.
People reasonably have shied further and further away from him. I wouldn't say he's hated, but I think it's like uh. You ever have a friend that. You know is gonna get you in trouble. Like if their house burned down you'd help them but wouldn't be surprised to find a meth pipe in your house when they move in? Not that I'm saying Jared does meth, just an example that happened to me in the past. Some sort of violation of trust like that. Like no dude, I'm not about to go down in a hard drug bust for giving you a roof over your head get that shit out of here.
Cuz there's the one guy that makes the gun silencers, and the other walker guy that's wall is crawling with white supremacy and maga, and there was jared meeting tulsi on her night preaching the gospel of Joe Rogan, who Jared loved so much he got Gen to start to listen to it. And we're not even gonna scrape on the systemic racism attached to the tattoo he got that's so obvious and bad even Gen stuck a conspicuous sticker over it to hide it when making a post. Like.
Uh.
Someone recently mentioned they almost feel like the reason many haven't cut Jared out is they're worried he's on the rapid path to becoming Kevin Sorbo, and they think they can offset that. And I mean, they're not wrong. Sorbo was a peak scifi actor that flipped shit when he wasn't involved in his series spinoff and leaned further and further into conservatism until he went full apeshit magat cpac guest.
And I kinda agree. Like they still care. They don't want him running off down that road. But arms' distance unless they feel they can work with him, though others seem to be just getting tired of his antics.
But really looking at this, is it any wonder Walker's like 4 weeks behind on filming from like 2 covid shutdowns?

Dimensity 9400: Here’s What You Need to Know
Tumblr media
High-end mobile CPU MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is planned to ship in Q4 2024. The first Dimensity series model made utilizing TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing node, the N3E, promises enhanced performance and energy efficiency.
MediaTek has set the scene with the introduction of the Dimensity 9400, signaling to its competitors that it is back in the high-end Android smartphone market and ready to cause a stir. Vivo is reported to seek a first pass at the company’s flagship chip, and it may have already acquired the first batch for itself. Aside from Google and Apple, the Taiwanese business has signed on as a client with every other phone manufacturer. A recent study found a 20% performance gain between the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9300.
The Dimensity 9300 sold $1 billion, and MediaTek intends to continue its supremacy in the high-end Android phone market with the 9400.
Shipments of the Dimensity 9300 have been steady since October 2023, and a report from the China Times states that MediaTek’s flagship chipset currently in production brought in almost $1 billion for the business. Undoubtedly, MediaTek hopes to build on this success when the Dimensity 9400 launches in the second half of 2024. Vivo seems to have begun taking action against its rivals by being the first user of the next SoC.
Sadly, neither the pricing per Dimensity 9400 device nor the number of units that the Chinese phone manufacturer has acquired for its first run are indicated in the story. But, MediaTek could have made a respectable concession to Vivo based on the first volume. The fabless semiconductor firm will get more customers if the Dimensity 9400 is cheaper than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
According to the analysis, the Dimensity 9400 surpasses the 9300 by 20%. The performance difference may be due to single-core, multi-core, graphics, AI, or other factors, making this assertion rather ambiguous. Therefore, take this statistic with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, the Dimensity 9400’s Cortex-X5 is said to overheat and perform poorly.
Given that MediaTek’s next flagship chipset is said to arrive without any efficiency cores, adopting a strategy like to that of the Dimensity 9300, it may be difficult to maintain suitable temperatures, which might lead to silicon that performs poorly under pressure. Let’s check whether MediaTek and Vivo have worked together behind closed doors to improve the Dimensity 9400. Naturally, some tinkering is required. We will have all the information you need soon, as always.
Dimensity 9400 specs:
CPU: 1x Cortex-X5 Prime, 3x X4 Prime, 4x A720.
Possible GPU co-development with Nvidia NPU: Performance improved over Dimensity 9300, with 20%-50% quicker Large Language Model production and 15% faster picture generation.
The Dimensity 9400 will power late 2024 top smartphones competing with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Samsung’s Exynos 2500.
These specs are according to rumor’s.
FAQS
What processor is in the Dimensity 9400?
One Cortex-X5 Prime CPU core, four Cortex-X4 Prime CPU cores, and four Cortex-A720 performance CPU cores are anticipated to be included in the Dimensity 9400’s configuration. Even though Chairman Tsai’s statements are consistent with what MediaTek disclosed, the chip is not specifically referred to as the Dimensity 9400.
What is the clock speed of Dimensity 9400?
It also has five cores clocked at 2.96GHz and two cores with a maximum frequency of 2.27GHz.
What phones will use the Dimensity 9400?
Although certain phone models are yet unknown, it is expected to power next flagship smartphones from several manufacturers in late 2024.
What are the competitors to the Dimensity 9400?
Samsung’s Exynos 2500 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are anticipated to be the primary rivals.
How powerful is the Dimensity 9400?
Although there are currently no official benchmarks, leaks indicate a significant increase in CPU performance compared to the Dimensity 9300. GPU increases seem to be modest.
Is the Dimensity 9400 good for gaming?
With its enhanced GPU and anticipated strong CPU, the Dimensity 9400 is probably a great gaming laptop.
What manufacturing process is used for the Dimensity 9400?
The first device in the series to be constructed using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process (N3E) is the Dimensity 9400, which is expected to enhance performance and battery life.
Does the Dimensity 9400 have an integrated modem?
Integrated modems are often found in MediaTek processors, which enable cellular access. The modem’s specifics for the Dimensity 9400 are yet unknown.
How are the AI capabilities of the Dimensity 9400?
It is anticipated that the Dimensity 9400 will outperform the 9300 in terms of AI capabilities, processing jobs like huge language models and picture production more quickly.
Does the Dimensity 9400 have a dedicated NPU?
Leaks imply an upgraded Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for managing AI activities on the device, while specifics are yet unknown.FeatureSpecificationCPU1x Cortex-X5 Prime core, 3x Cortex-X4 Prime cores, 4x Cortex-A720 coresGPUPossibly a co-developed GPU with NvidiaManufacturing ProcessTSMC 3nm (N3E)Expected LaunchQ4 2024

Shifting focus to display technology, the Sony A95L boasts an OLED screen renowned for its vibrancy and precision. With the ability to produce profound blacks and stellar contrast ratios, coupled with expansive viewing angles, it offers viewers an immersive, lifelike visual experience. Comparatively, the LG G3 employs an IPS LCD screen, a technology praised for its color accuracy and broad viewing angles. While it might not match the contrast levels inherent to OLED displays, it compensates by delivering crisp, radiant visuals that don't disappoint.
Sony A95L vs. LG G3: Camera Performance Examined
Diving into camera capabilities, the Sony A95L and LG G3 showcase distinct strengths. The Sony A95L is widely recognized for its superior camera setup. Equipped with a high-resolution sensor, it boasts cutting-edge image processing technology, a myriad of shooting modes, and customizable settings. This ensures that the A95L captures images that resonate with clarity, vibrancy, and true-to-life colors. Additionally, features such as optical image stabilization (OIS) or electronic image stabilization (EIS) further refine its capability, minimizing camera shake and delivering crisper shots, especially in low-light scenarios. Conversely, the LG G3, while perhaps not as feature-packed as the A95L, still holds its ground in the photography realm. Its standout feature is the laser autofocus system, enhancing the speed and precision of its focusing mechanism. This results in sharper, more defined images. While the G3 might not boast the extensive range of advanced features found in the A95L, it consistently delivers commendable photos, particularly when lighting conditions are optimal. Which One You should buy? The Sony A95L stands out as a premium camera, celebrated for delivering outstanding imagery. Its state-of-the-art features and cutting-edge lens technology make it an obvious pick for serious photographers. Conversely, the LG G3, while primarily a smartphone, impresses with its distinctive aesthetics and commendable camera. The A95L undoubtedly has the edge for those prioritizing superior photography and don’t mind carrying a dedicated device. However, if the allure lies in a feature-rich smartphone with a decent camera, the LG G3 ticks the boxes. Sony A95L vs. LG G3: The Verdict The Sony A95L QD-OLED and LG G3 OLED are gearing up to be top contenders in the 2023 4K TV arena. Both, with their groundbreaking brightness enhancement technologies, promise breathtaking contrast levels and vivid color profiles. Combine this with the profound blacks traditionally associated with OLED, and both TVs emerge as compelling choices for film enthusiasts. Should Sony price the A95L competitively, it's poised to challenge the LG G3, especially considering the G3's price uptick from its predecessor. In terms of gaming attributes, they appear fairly matched. However, the Sony A95L does offer a more versatile design right out of the box. Though a definitive judgment awaits our in-depth review of both models, it’s evident that these TV experiences will be nothing short of spectacular. Frequently Asked Questions - Is Sony's quality superior to LG's? - Both Sony and LG excel in producing OLED and LED displays. While LG typically leads in the OLED domain due to its gaming-friendly features and competitive pricing, Sony's LED versions tend to outshine LG’s, offering brighter and more consistent visuals with enhanced contrast. - Is Sony Bravia better than LG? - Both giants employ comparable technologies. Life is in Christ the Lord and Saviour
There is no life without Christ. For He is the Word of life who inhabits eternity, the Light of those who sit in darkness, in the shadow of death. He alone guides our feet into the way of peace. “He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:2-4). Christ is the second person of the Trinity, God the Creator, for “He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything” (Acts 17:25).  Rom. 11:36 says, “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.” Col. 1:16-17, “By Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
We exist because Christ made us; He made our body and gave us the breath of life. Gen. 2:7 reads, “The Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.” It is Christ who gave us biological life, and He sustains us daily – Acts 17:28 reads, “In Him we live and move and have our being.” As the second person of the Trinity, Christ shares the same exact attributes with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, and is equal in essence with Them. The Lord declares in John 12:44-45, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.” Christ is the exact likeness of God, “For in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily” (Col. 2:9).
Christ the Lord is preeminent, He sovereign over all creation. For He is the Creator, not a created being. Col. 1:15 reads, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” The word ‘firstborn’ here in context refers to the pre-eminence of the Lord Jesus Christ, his supremacy over all creation, his divine right to rule over all that exists. For He is not part of creation, but the Creator. He is self-existent, the Ruler over all creation, the Supreme Being from Whom all created beings and all things draw their existence and sustenance, and to Whom they all belong – “without Him was not any thing made that was made”, and He is the rightful heir.
The Lord Jesus Christ is not only the Author of biological life, but He is also the Author of spiritual life. Col. 1:19-20, “For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.” In our natural state, we are all dead in trespasses and sin, alienated from God. And the truth of the matter is, no man can free himself from spiritual deadness by his own efforts, no one can be justified before God by his good works and merits. There is only one way to be justified before God, one way to pass from death to life: the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”, declares the Lord in John 14:6. Life is found in Christ alone. No one can be made alive, no one can be raised from spiritual death except by the Lord Jesus, the Author of life. Thus every sinner who turns to the Son of God in repentance and faith receives life in abundance. For He is the Good Shepherd, the Fountain of life – He laid down his life for his sheep. In John 10:10 the Lord declares, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
“There is salvation in no one else [but Christ], for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Acts 13:39 reads, “By Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the Law of Moses.” Because we are all inherently evil, no one is able to keep God's Law. Therefore, we are all guilty before God. Unless we are clothed with the righteousness of his own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, we will all be condemned. For no one can be justified before God apart from the righteousness of his Son, the only inherently righteous Man who has ever lived on earth. We all came into this world as slaves of sin. For, as natural men, we seek not after God; and the only person who can redeem us is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Himself affirms his exclusivity in John 8:34-36, saying, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
When sin entered the world through our first parents, we all inherited their sinful nature. To borrow the words of Paul, just as through one man sin entered the world and death spread to all men (for the wages of sin is death), so the gift of life has been given to us through the one Man, the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He purchased redemption for his people by his active obedience and the shedding of his precious blood. Through Him all those who believe are forgiven and reconciled to God; they pass from death to life. For sin came into the world through Adam, and life through Christ. As Paul writes in 1 Cor. 15:22, “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.” That is, all those who repent of their sins and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, excluding unbelievers. Those who wear pride like a necklace and refuse to turn away from their evil ways will die in their sins and go to hell. Only those who die to self and to sin, and put their trust in the Lord are made alive; they are raised from spiritual deadness by the Spirit of Christ. 1 Pet. 2:24 reads, “He Himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness.”
2 Cor. 5:21 reads, “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” Christ is eternal life, the justification of sinners. Rom. 5:18 says, “As through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.” Christ is our salvation. Anyone who rejects Him remains spiritually dead, enslaved to sin. But for us who believe in Christ, “We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin” (Rom.6:6). We are a new creation in Christ our Lord, indwelt by his Spirit who gives us life and works in us to produce fruit for God. And so Paul writes in Rom. 8:9-10, “Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.” V.11, “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
It is only through the Lord Jesus Christ that sinners are raised from the dead. We are justified before God by his Son’s work and merit. “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day”, declares the Son of God in John 6:40. 2 Pet. 1:3-4 reads, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”
Christ is Life and the Light of men (cf. John 1:4). “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself” (John 5:26). In Christ is eternal life; for He “gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist” (Rom. 4:17). Christ gives life to those who are spiritually dead by graciously imputing to them his own righteousness and by baptizing them with his Spirit. For our sins were imputed to Him at the cross, and He conquered death on our behalf, being raised from the dead by the glorious power of God. Therefore, anyone who recognizes his spiritual deadness and turns to the Lord Jesus Christ in repentance and faith is granted a new life by Him.
Christ “was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed” (Is. 53:5). In Christ we, his elect, have victory over sin, death, the world and Satan. “For it was fitting for Him, for Whom are all things and by Whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: “I will declare Your name to my brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.” And again: “I will put my trust in Him.” And again: “Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.” Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb. 2:10-15).
In Christ, we are freed from the law of sin and death (cf. Rom. 8:2). “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (v.3-4). Paul also writes in Rom. 3:24, we “are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” God has graciously given us life through his Son. And being baptized into the family of Christ by the Holy Spirit, we are dead to sin and alive in our Saviour. 1 John 5:11-12 reads, “God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” That is to say, to be freed from the sting of death, we must put our trust in the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Anyone who rejects Christ remains spiritually dead and cannot inherit eternal life. Such a person will die (physically) in his sins and go to hell, for he is spiritually dead. But he who embraces Christ passes from death into life and is given access into the Kingdom of God. John 3:36 reads, “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” Is. 26:3 gives this testimony concerning the Lord, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Salvation is in the Lord Jesus alone. Without Him, no one would ever know God savingly, no one would ever be justified before God. We would all remain children of wrath. Christ is the Key that opens the door to the knowledge of God; He is the Light that shines in the darkness and sets free every soul held captive by sin and death. 1 John 5:20 reads, “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” Tit. 2:11-14, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”
As the Author of life and the Sovereign Ruler, the Lord Jesus also has power over physical death. The day is coming when He will raise all the dead: unbelievers for eternal condemnation and believers for glorification. On that day all the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and come forth, either to be sent to hell or to be crowned with everlasting life. In the same manner the Lord “cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out”, and Lazarus came out of his tomb, all the dead on that day will hear the voice of the Lord and come forth to receive their eternal reward.
During his ministry on earth, on a Sabbath day near the pool of Bethesda, the Lord Jesus healed a certain man who for thirty-eight years had suffered from an infirmity. When the Jews sought to kill the Lord, He said to them in John 5:25-29, “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself. And He has given Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.”
When the Lord says, “is now here”, He is referring to the spiritual resurrection which is taking place in the present age: repentant sinners are being born of the Spirit, they are graciously freed by God from their bondage to moral corruption and its deadly consequences. As 1 Pet. 1:3-5 points it out, “According to his great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
But when He says, “an hour is coming”, He is referring to a future, physical resurrection. This is the resurrection of the bodies of all the dead at his second advent. First, there will be the resurrection of the righteous – they will come to life and reign with Christ for a thousand years. After the thousand years are ended, the rest of the dead, i.e., the ungodly, will be raised for condemnation (cf. Rev. 20:4-5). In that day, at the utterance of Christ’s command, all the dead will walk out their tombs to present themselves before the King of kings and Lord of lords. For Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, is Judge of all. “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with Him for a thousand years.” Says Rev. 20:6.
If you haven’t settled your account with God yet, I urge you to do so right now, lest you die in your sins and wake up one day in hell. The only way you can be made right with God is by turning to the Lord Jesus Christ in repentance and faith. Lay down your pride and confess your sins to Christ. Admit that you do not possess a righteousness of your own; count all your supposed good works, virtues and merits as refuse, and embrace Christ as Lord and Saviour. Acknowledge his substitutionary death on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. He alone can cleanse you from all your filthiness and give you life everlasting. So repent and believe in Christ our God and Saviour, and you will be saved from sin, judgement, wrath and hell.
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Ps. 103:8-14, “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will He keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”

SAINTS OF THE DAY FOR MAY 04
Bl. Carthusian Martyrs, 1540 A.D. English monks of the Carthusian Order put to death by King Henry VIII because of their continued allegiance to the pope and the authority of the Holy See. These martyrs, eighteen in all, were beatified in 1886.
St. Augustine Webster, 1535 A.D. One of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales canonized in 1970. Augustine was a Carthusian prior of the Charterhouse at Axholme, England. He was arrested in London and martyred at Tyburn.
St. John Houghton, 1535 A.D. Protomartyr of the English Reformation. A native of Essex, he served as a parish priest after graduating from Cambridge. He then became a Carthusian and the prior of the Carthusian Charterhouse of London. As an opponent of King Henry VIII’s Acts of Succession and Supremacy, he was arrested with other Carthusian but was released temporarily. He then refused to swear to the Oath of Supremacy, the first man to make this refusal. Dragged through the streets, he was executed at Tyburn with four companions by being hanged, drawn, and quartered. Parts of his remains were put on display in assorted spots throughout London. Pope Paul VI canonized him in 1970 as one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales.
St. John Payne, 1582 A.D. Also John Paine. An English martyr. Payne was born at Peterborough, England, and was possibly a convert. In 1574, he departed England and went to Douai, where he was ordained in 1576. Immediately thereafter, he was sent back to England with St. Cuthbert Mayne. His labors met with considerable success, but he was arrested within a year. Released by English authorities, he departed the island but came back in 1579. While staying in Warwickshire on the estate of one Lady Petre, he was arrested once more after being denounced by John Eliot, a known murderer who made a career out of denouncing Catholics and priests for bounty. Imprisoned and tortured in the Tower of London for nine months, he was finally condemned to death and hanged, drawn, and quartered at Chelmsford. He is one of the Martyrs of England and Wales canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1970.
St. Richard Reynolds, 1169 A.D. Brigettine martyr of England and one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. He was born in Devon, England, in 1492 and was educated at Cambridge. In 1513, he entered the Brigettines at Syon Abbey, Isleworth. When King Henry VIII demanded royal oaths, Richard and others opposed the monarch. They were executed at Tyburn. Richard was canonized in 1970.
St. Robert Lawrence, 1535 A.D. One of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. After joining the Carthusians, he served as prior of the Charterhouse at Beauvale, Nottinghamshire, at the time when King Henry VIII of England broke with Rome and launched the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Robert went with St. John Houghton to see Thomas Cromwell, who had them arrested and placed in the Tower of London. When they refused to sign the Oath of Supremacy, they were cruelly tortured and executed at Tyburn, making them among the first martyrs from the order in England.
