#GIMME SUMMER LUMINE
Text
I've decided that I need to know all my favorite sagau writers' faves! I wanna hear about you and them and how you'd interact with them. Yes, this is mandatory, I don't make the rules i just blindly enforce them.
I'll start, (Warning, thirst ahead)
Thoma
Literally this man owns my entire heart (and wallet please someone help me). He's so good? So pure and precious???? I deadass felt like I was having a heart attack doing his hangout, people literally had to beg me to stop (I didn't, I just laid down after, crying my heart out). I love him so much. man's my screen saver rn)
Tumblr media
I haven't done character art screensavers since I was like twelve, probably longer. I've been that boring bitch bc anxiety but this man THIS MAN
absolute malewife, I wanna marry him. If I'm in sagau I'm kicking down the door to the Yashiro Commission and just "you wanna make me happy? gimme Thoma" like if they're not gonna appreciate him then I will. just gonna grab him and "we're married now"
And his FUCKING HANGOUT (i will never be over this) HE'S SO PERFECT??? THE ANIMALS??? THE MALEWIFE-ING????? THE FUCKING DESTRUCTION OF THAT BITCH?????? we're fucking married that's it
I love him?????? Honestly like Thoma pls take care of me I'm a wreck
Ningguang
THE QUEEN. omfg I love her, ship her and Lumine so hard. She's just so elegant and amazing and so genuinely good??? I just wanna be her sugar baby friend. Like her teapot convo where she tells you that she wants YOU to help her with decision making and YOU to rip up the papers and throw out the next "snowstorm"???
Honestly, like, I think it was myuni who posted about it recently but I wanna go shopping with her in Liyue and just dressup and shit and it'd be so fun??? Girl needs to let loose and I'm willing to offer myself up for the job. Wanna give her genuine connection and shit kjsdkhgdsgds
Klee
Do I even need to SAY ANYTHING??? She's so precious??? She was my first 5* I think, or at least my first event character. I joined Genshin during the summer banner after putting it off a while (I didn't know it was a gacha I'm so sorry Zhongli, Venti and Xiao pls come home at least Ganyu and Albedo will be getting their reruns)
I wanna go fish blasting with her and I want her to teach me how to make bombs and show me her treasures and I wanna hold Dodoco and be her best friend like hgesjdhgdjshgjdsghnnbfdjg
No thoughts only sibling bonding with Klee
Some honorable mentions:
Keqing, if Klee wasn't my first 5* it was Keqing. I love her so much??? Like Ningguang, I wanna hang out with her and make sure she's taking her breaks. Same with Ganyu, the QUEEN deserves a NAP
Kazuha stole my fucking wallet (stupid ADHD) and so I have him at c2 and I will forever hold resentment for that but I still love him so much
Hu Tao!!! I've loved her from the first sight. Her view of death is so like nice?? Not seeing it as something bad but as another part of life. I've always believed that funerals should be a celebration of the person, not pure mourning (I mean, mourning lasts a long time, why not devote some time to celebrating the person instead?) anyway I just love her I'm so glad I just got her (already got her at like 58% crit rate and over 150% crit damage & like she's only level 70?? her artifacts rolled so good as well????)
Ei!! My first archon character. Inazuma is too fucking sad all the quests are ripping out my heart and I know her story is about to so I've been procrastinating reading it. I wanna go out into town with her and drink some fucking dango milk and also tease her with Yae
Yoimiya is a good girl. That is all.
Xingqiu and Xinyan have gotten a lot of hate in my convos so I wanna send them some love. Like, they're just kinda beaten out by a lot of other characters but they're so good themselves???
I am a simple enby, i have simple tastes. Those tastes are Arataki Itto. Thank you
I wanna step on and bully Zhongli??? and Xiao I just wanna make a mess of them
Razor, Bennett and Fischl, you all know what I'm going to say. There good children, I love them, I'd die for them, they deserve better. Gonna give them all hugs and love and gdi they deserve it. Gonna introduce them to Xiangling as well and get them some good fucking food.
Albedo and Kaeya. Do I need to say more? Also Diluc, thank you.
Now to call out @raidengaile and @nicebonescomrade to make sure someone does this (all the pressure /j) bc they're on my mind rn do the thing

@blackthornwren tagged me to post a list of 10 books I’d like to finish this year! I’m also including books that I, ahem, haven’t exactly started yet. Because that pile is rapidly growing, as ever. I’m accumulating what I affectionately call my “witch library” so I have a bad habit of seeing a book, buying it, and forgetting it on my special black bookshelf for a while...
Tumblr media
1. The Witches’ Ointment by Thomas Hatsis — I know, I know. I’m a bad witch. This is like... The Essential Book for the history of flying ointment and the poison path (in my opinion), and I haven’t even finished it!! I blame Tanith Lee’s Tales from the Flat Earth series for seducing me away from Hatsis’ amazing book just as I was getting to the end. Seriously though, I love Thomas Hatsis. I maybe have a small crush on him. Just a lil.
2. Aradia - Gospel of the Witches by Charles Leland — Another classic that I’ve neglected. I don’t feel too bad about this one though because, well... it’s Aradia. Calling Leland an “unreliable narrator” is a bit of an understatement.
3. Wisht Waters by Gemma Gay — I’ve been taking a class called “The Female Divine” that talks about ancient Goddess cultures (Starhawk and Z Budapest were referenced... the cringe was bone shattering, but I need a good grade so *shrug emoji*) and I’ve been coming back to this book a lot because I think Gary does a great job of illustrating the UK’s syncretism with a focus on water. I love learning about syncretism, y’all.
4. Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici — my best friend is a Gender & Women’s Studies major and she recommended this book to me. I’ve started it a couple times and it’s good, but sometimes... overly academic books just make me fall asleep.
5. The Pharmako series by Dale Pendall — Three chunky volumes of pure chemistry, history, etc... you’ll understand why these need some time.
6. The Night Battles & Ecstasies by Carlo Ginzburg — Again, classics that I haven’t dived into yet. I’m a full time college student guys! I have other shit to read! But I’m looking forward to these for summer reading.
7. The Luminous Stone, edited by Michael Howard & Daniel Schulke — I bought this on a whim awhile ago and I just haven’t been inspired enough to read it yet. I’m on such a poison path kick that I just haven’t found an interest in Lucifer stuff yet. I’ll get there, gimme time.
8. Lords of the Left Hand Path by Stephen Flowers — Another whim-purchase. This one goes into the history of “left hand” paths like heretical sects, the Hell Fire club, etc. It also talks about the people who established left hand paths, like LaVey and Crowley. I’m not a huge fan of Crowley by any means so I’m putting this one off because I just hate reading about him. Ugh.
9. The Faerie Queens, edited by Sorita d’Este & David Rankine — I’m working through this one right now! It’s a collection of essays about various Faerie Queens in mythology. This is another one of my all time FAVORITE topics so I’ve been devouring this one whenever I get the chance (or have the energy).
10. (last but not least) The Unspeakable Girl by Giorgio Agamben & Monica Ferrando (translated by Lelend de la Durantaye & Annie Julia Wyman) — This is a sort of long essay about Kore (or Persephone) and her liminality as a figure, how she’s neither one thing or another. I’ve liked this one a lot so far as it goes into detail about the Eleusinian mysteries and all that. But, it’s a lot of jargon imo so I get bored easily.
I’m tagging the following! @viridariumumbris @deerhoofandrabbitsfoot @poisonerspath @standing-stone-cypress @root-thorn-flame @barberwitch @of-the-nightshades @cainsbrood @poisonandthorn @spiralthorn @oracle-of-pentacles and anyone else who wants to do it!! Tag me so I can get more book recommendations hehehe

he tells me he’s sober enough to drive himself home. “get out, let me drive.” hell no, I have no idea how much you’ve had to drink. sit back and relax, I’m driving.
“can you get me Advil and water.” already did.
“gimme your phone, I wanna play a song.” then another, then another. then he passes out laying over me holding my phone. I pry it out of his hand as the song ends and put on my evening playlist as he sleeps with his arm strewn over my stomach, legs intertwined. it’s 2:30am, and for no reason, instead of sleeping, I’m up tracing veins, watching my fan spin circles, listening to Coldplay and the lumineers and John Mayer, keeping time to heavy drunk breathing, steady rain falling outside my window.
i don’t know why this feels like something worth saving. it just does. i won’t be surprised if I find my bed empty again by the end of the summer. if 2:30am will be for sleeping and my evening playlist will be my study playlist. i don’t know what the future holds, I don’t know what I want it to hold. but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Back in January of this year, beauty girls and editors lost their collective shit—myself included—when New York City beauty brand Milk Makeup finally launched in the UK. Despite it having only launched stateside in 2016, it had already felt like a lifetime of having to beg U.S.-bound friends to hit up Sephora on my behalf for a Milk Makeup fix. And I clearly wasn't alone—the brand launched to an incredible 17,000-person waiting list on Cult Beauty. Yes, this was one beauty brand that had a serious amount of social media hype, and I was already obsessed. If you haven't heard of Milk Makeup before, then the premise of the brand is all about good ingredients, clean formulas, and payoff that you can actually see. Every product is cruelty-free, paraben-free and 100% vegan and a lot of the products come in twist-up, stick formulations for easy, fuss-free application—even when you're on-the-go. The skincare products are simple and slip effortlessly into your existing routines, and the makeup products offer sheer pops of color that can be built up to customize your look. In short, this is a beauty brand that even women who aren't that into beauty can get on board with. Launching exclusively onto Cult Beauty with a great initial drop, there have been new arrivals landing thick and fast, with 37 products currently on site to shop. (Although, seriously, Milk—will your Sunshine Skin Tint ever be landing on British soil?) With such an array of product categories and names like Glitter Sticks , Tattoo Stamps , and Cannabis Face Masks to decipher, it can be a bit of a beauty minefield to shop if you haven't already dabbled with the brand. Luckily, I've now tried pretty much everything that Milk Makeup has to offer, and while it was lust at first sight for me and everything in the collection, there are a few products that have transitioned into true, long-term beauty loves. Yes, packaging aside, these are the products that I honestly think are worth splashing your cash on. Not only do they genuinely work, but they've also become staples in my beauty routine. The ultimate product for girls who don't really do makeup or just don't have time for it in the mornings. Just twist up the creamy color and swipe it onto your cheeks and lips, then pat in with your fingertips for an effortlessly pretty flush of color. I always have one of these Lip + Cheek sticks in my handbag for when my complexion needs a little livening up during the day. Werk, this dusky rose shade, is my favorite everyday hue but I must mention Quickie as a close second—a lively berry that would look amazing on deeper skin tones too. This is basically a stick of solidified water infused with aloe, but honestly, it's like magic. I recently gave a stick to a colleague who is heading on a humid holiday to China thanks to the way that it cools and refreshes skin like nothing else. I like to use this after cleansing my skin on mornings when I'm feeling particularly puffy and congested as it really helps to calm things down. But you can apply it over makeup to boost glow throughout the day too. I'm a big fan of using face powders to keep my oily skin in check during the day, but it can be difficult to find ones that don't cling to dry patches and end up looking cakey. This one is a revelation thanks to an infusion of moisturizing hyaluronic acid and avocado powder. It might sound counterintuitive, but what it actually means is that this powder blurs over fine lines and unevenness while keeping oil under control. This mascara was the best-selling Milk Makeup product at the brand's UK launch and pretty much everyone that tries it raves about it. It's the first-ever mascara to contain hemp-derived cannabis oil and has a seriously creamy formula infused with fibers that glide onto lashes and impart them with mega volume. Hannah Almassi, our very own editor in chief, has even be converted to its charms. If you're looking for a new mascara in your life then make it this one. This features the same formulation technology as the Kush Mascara (hydrating cannabis oil and volumizing fibers), but for your brows. I'm very loyal to my Benefit Gimme Brow, so I really wasn't expecting to like this product as much as I do. But I have to say that on days when I want to get really bushy, glossy cool-girl brows, this really does the trick. It does a great job of boosting volume and setting hairs in place without leaving them feeling stiff or set either. One of the newer Milk Makeup drops, this primer promises to keep skin hydrated all day. For me, however, the thing that I love most about it is the way that (as the name suggests) it "grips" to the makeup you apply on top to improve longevity. To apply, you smooth a couple of pumps onto clean skin and leave it for a minute to set. I love that my skin always looks glowy and moisturized before I apply my base. Oh, and I'm also here for the all-day hold. At first, these cream eye shadows might look a little intimidating. They are seriously pigmented (as in, you literally just need a tiny dot for full coverage colour on your eye) and come in some pretty out-there shades, including sea greens and electric blues. However, these are now one of my favourite formulas to reach for on a night out. The shade Hotel Lobby, in particular, is a really wearable champagne-gold with a beautiful shimmer. I apply to the eyelids using my fingertips, and then blend out the edges with a fluffy brush. Once they're on, the waterproof formulas stay put for hours without creasing or shifting. If you don't love a really high-shine glow to your skin, then the Milk Makeup Highlighter Stick might be more up your street for a more subtly luminous glow. These Holographic Sticks are for a major sheen. They contain real meteorite powder (seriously) for a holographic finish that I happen to love applied to the tops of cheekbones. The shade Mars is my favorite (a gorgeous golden peach), but there are some more intense color options if lavender or pink highlight is up your alley. Rich in olive and jojoba oils, this lip balm does an amazing job of moisturizing parched lips and boasts a minty taste that is wonderfully refreshing. It comes in a clear formula (which actually looks green in the tube), and if it's purely hydration that you're after, this is a tinted formula that treats and looks good. Toner is often one of those skincare steps that I'll skip entirely, but since discovering this one from Milk Makeup, it's become more of a regular part of my skincare routine. It's the world's first every solid toner, and it's crammed with matcha green tea and witch hazel to decongest and purify oily-combination skin types. I just swipe it over skin after cleansing to calm any inflamed areas and control oily patches before my moisturizer. I was a bit dubious about the idea of a face mask in a stick, but I have to say that this application method is a dream if the thought of applying a face mask always seems like way too much effort. I apply it to clean, damp skin (but you can also apply it to dry skin) and leave it to dry for around 10 minutes before rinsing it off. It's clay-based, so it has detoxifying benefits, but it also contains protective vitamins C and E, hydrating hyaluronic acid and brightening watermelon extract for more luminous skin. As someone who doesn't really use bronzer, it's a big deal to be recommending one in this list. I don't know if it's the blendable texture, the matte colour or the way that it hydrates skin at the same time, but this is possibly one of the best bronzers I've ever tried. I basically just scrawl it over my cheeks, nose and forehead, and then blend it out with my fingers for a really subtle, sunkissed glow. Although it looks deep in the tube, it's surprisingly sheer, so I've never overdone it while applying it. While I wasn't blown away by Milk Makeup's original Blur Stick, this new illuminating version is right up my street. It uses golden blur pigments and blurring microspheres to both brighten skin and absorb excess oil at the same time. On weekends when I'm just pottering about the house, I'll apply just this over moisturiser to brighten and even out my skin tone, but on normal days, I'll apply it under makeup, focusing on my cheeks and forehead (where my pores tend to be most visible). The newest launch from Milk Makeup comes courtesy of these mini multipurpose formulas. The same concept as the brand's original Lip + Cheek sticks (you can use them to add color all over your face), these ones have more of a sheer formula with a beautifully dewy finish. Astro is my favorite—a soft, radiant blackberry hue that I think would work well on all skin tones. These will really come into their own during summer. Hey doll hey!!! Hope you are having a great day today. Today I will be reviewing the complexion products I purchased from the J Cat Beauty website. I do have to say that I’m low key obsessed with this eye look and I used glitter. GLITTER!!! Tati Westbrook knows what she is doing with eyeshadow!! So let’s get started with this Face of the Day, and also mini product review ….
Base: I primed my face using the J Cat Beauty Prime & Glow Face Illuminator Primer ($7.99 on their website) the Licorice formula. For foundation I am using the J Cat Beauty HD Perfection Skinsealer Foundation ($7.99 on sale for $5 on their website) in the color Warm Honey. I chose not to color correct today so i could test out the new concealer …. I concealed my under eyes using J Cat Beauty Staysurance Water-Sealed Zero-Smudge Concealer ($7.99 on their website) in the color Custard. I set my face using J Cat Beauty Aquasurance Compact Foundation ($13.99 on their website) in the color Natural. I warmed up my face using J cat Beauty Golden Soleil Baked Bronzer ($7.99 on their website) in the color Cancun Golden Tan. I then set my under eyes and baked my jaw line, center of my forehead, and bridge of my nose using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website).
Eyes: I primed my lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium Honey. For today’s eye look I am using Tati Beauty Textured Neutrals Palette ($48 on her website). I set the Shape Tape using the color Aura-Matte (the cream row of colors). I then took the color Soothe-Matte (the tan row of colors) and used that as my crease and transition shade combined. I then took Soothe-Glitter on my mobile lid skipping the very inner part of the mobile lid. I used the color Soothe-Metallic on the inner part of the mobile lid and used Ritual-Matte (the dark brown row of colors) on just the outer 1/3 of the mobile lid over the glitter. I used Hikari Cream Pigment ($15 on their website) in the color Fair Tale (an icy white shimmer) to highlight the inner corners. For my brows I used Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil ($24 at Ulta) in the color 4.5 and Benefit Gimme Brow ($24 at Ulta) in the color 6. I carved out my brow line using BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the shimmer side and set the brow line using more of Aura-Matte. I lined the waterlines using ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner ($6 on their website) in the color Get Paid (a rose gold shimmer liner) and then used more of Smoothe-Matte on my lower lash line. For mascara today I am using Revolution’s The Mascara Revolution ($10 on their website) in the color Black.
Cheeks and Lips: My blush today is J Cat Beauty Blush-Mallow Soft Blusher ($4.99 on their website) in the color Tutti Fluffy (a bright pinkish coral). I used the J Cat Beauty You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter ($8.99 on their website) in the color Twilight (a mid-toned gold) to highlight the tops of my cheeks, bridge of my nose, center of my forehead, and Cupid’s Bow. I lined my lips using Loreal Infallible 6-HR Never Fail Lip liner ($8.99 at Ulta) in the color Coral and then filled in my lips with MAC Satin Lipstick ($19 at Ulta and MAC) in the color Brave (a mid-toned pinkish coral).
Final Thoughts:
J Cat Beauty Prime & Glow Face Illuminator Primer: A++                                                       You get 1.05 fluid ounces of product for $7.99. This is a pretty primer. It gives the skin a nice glow that has a pinkish shift to it. It felt very hydrating and created a great base that allowed my foundation to go on very smoothly. It also seemed to blur my pores.
J Cat Beauty HD Perfection Skinsealer Foundation: A+++!!!!                                                  You get .85 fluid ounces of product for $7.99, it is on sale on their website for $5. This foundation is billed as a flawless, full coverage foundation that gives the skin the most beautiful natural finish. It’s offered in 10 shades with 4 shades for deeper skin tones. This foundation is so freaking beautiful!!! It left my face so dewy and so fresh. The color was a tad bit darker than my skin tone but I loved the finish so much that I will finish the bottle up and then purchase the shade Sweet Buff (which is one shade lighter than Warm Honey). This foundation is definitely full coverage but when using a Beauty Blender it lays down more like a high medium coverage so I went in with a 1/2 pump more (I used a total of 2 1/2 pumps to get full coverage) and it built on itself nicely. I waited 7 minutes to see if it would oxidize and it did not. I seriously can’t tell you enough just how much I loved this foundation with just 1 application!!! It didn’t emphasize pores or fine lines, in fact it seemed to make my skin look perfected and flawless.
J Cat Beauty Staysurance Water-Sealed Zero-Smudge Concealer: A-                                    You get .33 ounces of product for $7.99. It’s billed as a light-weight, yet, long lasting concealer that combats dark circles, redness, and any imperfection for a flawless look that is waterproof and has a medium to full coverage. It comes in 16 shades with 6 shades for deeper skin tones. This is a thick concealer and is so pigmented that a little goes a very long way. It reminds me a bit of the Tarte Shape Tape, however it’s more hydrating than the Shape Tape. It isn’t as light-weight as their claims say, but that’s Ok because it leaves the under eye smooth and polished. I haven’t tested the waterproof claim but it does feel like it could be at least resistant to water. I will definitely be using this product up but am not sure if I will repurchase it… I want to test it in the Florida Summer heat.
J Cat Beauty Aquasurance Compact Foundation: A+++!!! You get .31 ounces of product for $13.99. It is billed as a finely milled luxurious, silky texture that minimizes the appearance of pores with medium to full coverage. It comes in 13 shades with 4 shades for deeper skin tones. This powder foundation is the first one that I have come across that is actually full coverage if you use the sponge… it is about high medium coverage with a fluffy powder brush. I don’t know how, but this powder actually blurs the pores! My skin looks flawless. I really, REALLY like this powder and have already purchased a back up.
J cat Beauty Golden Soleil Baked Bronzer: A+++!!!! You get .35 ounces of product for $7.99. It’s billed as a velvety SOLAR baked formula that wears all day and won’t transfer onto clothes. The smooth texture blends effortlessly with any powder brush for buildable, customizable coverage that wakes skin up and delivers a lit-from-within luminosity. The non-dusty and non-drying color stays true and even for hours without oxidizing. Lately I have been loving a glowy bronzer… this one takes the cake!!! It’s glowy without having shimmer to it like the other satin bronzers I own. It’s the perfect under tone and buffs into the skin so nicely that you can’t tell when the bronze begins and ends, it just leaves your skin looking sun kissed. I love this one so much I’ve already repurchased it.
ColourPop BFF Creme Gel Liner in the color Get Paid: A+++!!!                                                    You get .007 ounces of product for $6 however this color is on sale for $4.50 on their website right now. This color is so beautiful on the waterline! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! It’s creamy and did not skip or tug at my skin. It stays pretty good on the waterlines too.
J Cat Beauty Blush-Mallow Soft Blusher: A++                                                                             You get .14 ounces of product for $4.99. It comes in 16 shades. This is a cream to powder formula. It reminds me of a matte version of ColourPop Super Shock Cheek. It is extremely pigmented! I used a duo fiber blush brush and tapped it into the product just slightly and still had to buff some of the product out. I really love the color I chose but do not see my self purchasing other colors.
J Cat Beauty You Glow Girl Baked Highlighter: A+++!!! You get .30 ounces of product for $8.99. It comes in 9 colors. It’s billed as a multi-dimensional Baked formula brings instant GLOW all day long due to high intense shimmer pigment. It is designed to complement all skin tones and all skin types. The smooth texture blends effortlessly and gives the perfect luminous finish that complete your look. There is no glitter in this highlighter and yet it’s so super reflective! I love the formula so much, it’s smooth and doesn’t go on patchy or chunky. A really good find!!
**** On a side note …. I tried the Tati Beauty glitter formula and I have got to say I am obsessed with it!! There was very little fallout with this glitter formula, it went on smoothly and opaque and super stunning!!! OH MY GOSH ….. I never thought I’d ever like glitter…. I do now….
Well that’s all for now dolls. I hope you enjoyed this look, I’m so in love with it! I hope the rest of your day is amazing and remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
