anyways this session has really solidified the reason quackity chose the people he did for me. because i remember connor getting an ask a while back complaining about how they wanted quackity to add people who would actually play instead of his friends (ie wilbur) who may not be active as often and. it rubbed me the wrong way for a lot of reasons, but mainly because it's clear quackity didn't choose just his friends. sure, it was a bonus that he was close to them, but quackity's first priority has never been "who can minmax the server and stream every day?" it's been "who is a good storyteller/who can tell a good story?"

because that's the core of it. the qsmp isn't about streaming or playtime, not necessarily. it's about the story. during the first announcement, people were surprised to see dantdm and jaidenanimations on the cast, because dan isn't really in quackity's circle and jaiden is barely an mcyt even if you push it. but you know what they were? storytellers. dan was a part of so many people's childhoods with his mod showcases and miscellaneous videos, all of which had lore. jaiden creates entire stories from video games! games with pre-determined stories that she has to spin into something new, something of her own.

and then the brazilians were added. some of them still did minecraft content, sure, but not all of them. but they were still storytellers. cellbit has his entire rpg. pac and mike have multiple roleplay series. and when you get to the french, the pattern repeats. baghera, for example, with her gta roleplay. not all of them are minecrafters at their core, but they are storytellers, and for most of them, improvisational ones at that. the same, of course, goes for the newest batch. pol is a filmmaker. vshojo has insane, deeply complex lore for all their vtubers. bagi is adept at ttrpg. sure, people being able to log on often is a necessity, but what good would that be if it ended up sacrificing quality for quantity?

this session really nailed it for me because you could see their expertise shine through. i feel like, even still, a lot of mcrp is seen as "lesser" because of its medium, or because of how it can switch between roleplay and just creators hanging out. roleplay is only typically praised and called to attention when it's highly emotional, and the same goes for the storytelling, with a heavier focus on how well creators can utilize angst as opposed to other moments. but this was treated differently. the silliness of minecraft was gone. what was previously disregarded came into light, like how fucking smart foolish is when writing characters and how well quackity is able to play into the story while staying true to his character, among other things! i just think quackity's brilliance in selecting his server members isn't talked about enough, because holy shit has he done a fantastic job

teaches klee how to play too, his most popular stream was when they beat the ender dragon together :)

he also seems like the type to strictly use minecraft education edition, which is also totally valid because some of the recipes in there are literally so cool ???

pulls a dantdm and has his own minecraft lab and everything, doing all his silly little experiments!

when chat found out you and albedo were dating, there were two reactions.

one side was really happy for you both, the other was albedos parasocial fangirls who immediately put you on a hitlist.

youre always there to cheer him on when hes in mcc, his own little personal cheerleader :)

you show up at his office and just.. stand in front of the door, staring at him through the window. it sounds weird yes, but the shocked expression on his face is worth the wait for him to notice.

CHILDE - THE GRAND THEFT AUTO ONLINE ROLEPLAYER

childe is the type of fella to participate in the most wacky roleplays on gta online, and i am sticking by this headcannon.

hes done everything from a drug empire to owning his own country, nothing is off limits.

surprisingly hes a really good actor? when youre watching his streams you dont get the cringey second hand embarrassment, its just fun entertainment :D

it took his chat wayyy to long to realize how fine he is, although to be fair he did have mostly men watching him. (not like thats an excuse or anything.)

i feel hes definitely been nominated for a streamy before! whether or not you think he deserves to win is up to you though LMAO

childe leaked your relationship by accident once by having a tab open of your instagram while he was streaming.

when chat confronted him, he kind of just… ended stream. (real smooth.)

fans went to your instagram afterwards and saw pictures of you two together and started posting them to twitter, and childe ended up on trending because of it.

you felt indifferent to the whole thing, but childe was panicking. he didnt want to let his viewers into that part of his life just yet, but he was, scientifically speaking, caught lacking.

you dont appear on streams much, and childe still avoids allegations about your relationship entirely. its not that he doesnt want to show you off, he does! he just doesnt like having less differentiation between his online persona and his private life.

KAEYA - THE VALORANT STREAMER

kaeya doesnt play valorant because hes good at it, but because its fun to mess with the fanbase.

you know THOSE vtubers who are.. weirdly sexual? kaeya is like that but he does it in a satirical way. 

likes messing with the homophobes too, but everyone still debates on what his sexuality is (kind of like jschlatt.)

definitely is problematic on twitter on purpose just to get people to talk about him, hes a little bit of an attention whore but we love him anyways <3

has never apologized for anything hes said or done EVER, and doesnt plan on it either.

“what do you mean i got canceled on twitter AGAIN? its only been 3 days!”

chat didnt believe him when he said he was in a relationship. so be dragged your ass into his room to show them.

it didnt work though, they thought you were a paid actor for the next 2 months LMAO

it got to a point where kaeya was doing literally anything on stream to convince chat, and finally you had enough.

you told him to take a break from streaming, he was way too obsessed with trying to prove something that doest matter to anybody but the two of you.

something finally clicked in his head, and after that you dont appear on camera as much anymore. for the most part people believe that you two are together, but hell still get donations joking around that they dont think youre a couple, simply because its funny.

XIAO - THE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS PLAYER

i dont have any reason for this connection, other than it feels right.

if xiao werent a league player i would suggest smite, he just seems like hed be more into team games like that rather than overwatch or valorant.

just because hes my favorite doesnt mean im letting him off easily, league players get no rights <3 and xiao is no exception.

unironically listens to k/da as well, knows all the choreography but will literally never admit to it.

everyone in his chat has channel points stacked up to tell him to hydrate, he tends to forget when he gets really into the match.

when hu tao first heard about dbd i imagine she thought it would be an easy way to gain new clients, now she sticks around because its fun to terrorize people as killer, and be an absolute menace as survivor.

i think shed be a nurse main, but one of those that are insanely good at playing nurse. she wins the game in no time because her teleports are perfect. 

i can only imagine how many people have rage quit because of her.

along with dead by daylight, i see her just overall being a horror game player. lots of five nights at freddys, resident evil, etc.

shes never gotten scared on camera before, chat has tried but shes always one step ahead.

“i lied, i dont actually like sex. put your clothes back on i need to explain to you the entirety of the five nights at freddys timeline.”

hu taos favorite pastime is scaring you, she stays on top of the newest horror content specifically because of that. (oh, and its also kind of her brand. but she puts you first <3)

It’s taking me forever to actually finish my WIPs current chapters, so have random slices from Sugar Lips since it’s been 8 months since I’ve uploaded a chapter, and I still have failed to write the first half of the chapter.

(Spoiler for the next chapter)

Wilbur felt his heart in his chest, and he settled his hand over it again. It was pulsing, nervous, filled with anticipation of something going so awfully wrong. Maybe something was going to go bad. He felt so sure in his gut it would. His mouth moved faster than his thoughts.

“Aren’t you worried I’m dangerous? Or crazy?”

“Should I be?”

“Yes.”

Phil huffed. He tapped his fingers against his steering wheel and said sardonically, “Tell you what, if you’re crazy and you’ve become a prolific serial killer, we deal with it at six in the morning rather than one.” Wilbur weakly chuckled. Phil managed a grin. “No, the real horror is what if I’ve become a serial killer. Nearly considered it a better career choice than GTA.”

Wilbur scoffed and he sunk into the seat of the car. “I don’t feel like I’m safe—that I’m a safe person.”

Phil considered it. “You’re not safe for yourself or everyone else?”

His reflection the side mirror looked terrible. His eyes were shadowed, eyes dilated with a feverish glint, his mouth bruised, his hair thrown about and clumped in such a way all his insecurities showed—his hairline, the possibility he might be balding, the acne or ingrown hair that worked its way near an edge. Something he was so painfully familiar with yet looked so strange.

“Both,” Wilbur said.

Phil hummed. “I’ve felt that way. Before I met Kristin, I stayed all cooped up, married to school, a shitty job, and gaming, God forbid I do anything more. I was miserable—I felt like shit most of the time, but it felt safer than risking giving up a quiet night in with something as draining as a bar. And then I met her, and I thought like a dumbass that being with a girl would fix everything wrong in my life.”

“It didn’t,” Wilbur guessed.

“I think I made her life slightly more difficult for a few months here and there,” Phil admitted. “So, I took small baby steps. I went out. Joined clubs. Made friends. Fucked up a lot. Definitely had my share of public embarrassments, especially when you dragged me to the bar”—Phil chuckled to himself at that— “but I don’t regret it. We still have quiet nights in.”

“But you’re…you,” Wilbur said. “I don’t know if I can change.”

“You won’t know until you try, Wilbur,” Phil said.

“Easier said than done,” Wilbur muttered, as Phil slowed to a stop, backing into a parking space in front of a nice, quaint, but not as horrendous as his own apartment complex.

“It is, but you’ve already started, haven’t you?” Phil said, and he stopped the car. Wilbur stared at his lap, the night hitting him. He wiped at his face as tears started pooling in his eyes. He was unable to swallow.

“No, no, Phil, I haven’t,” Wilbur said. Phil didn’t look at him right away, but he saw his eyes dart to him, then to the other cars parked. Phil leaned on his car door before he opened it.

“Then you can always start. You’ve had a rough night, haven’t you?”

(Also, have this scene i”ve had for like 2000000 years because its def needed) “Wilbur, you’re a genius. So, you clearly predicted my parents would read the next email sent to me, right? And your email threw them off,” Tommy said. “I thought you were serious for a moment and was really upset and angry, but I think that really sold it, and so my mom finally stopped bringing you up every spare second.” 

Wilbur swallowed, coughed. 

“Yeah.”

“But I know now! You did it because you knew they’d read it!” Tommy said, hooking an arm around his shoulders. “Don’t worry, Wilbur. I’m not upset anymore. You’re just a big genius man. Quackity had me make a new email and told me I couldn’t leave it auto-logged on, and so that’s the one I have to talk to the lawyer with. I also emailed Ranboo on it, and had him help me deciphering some of the laywer’s talk, because I didn’t want to admit to Quackity and the lawyer I don’t understand some of it.”

it’s still so hard for me to watch tommy phil and wilbur together because as much as i adore their dynamic the 4/4 dynamic was so special and we’re never going to get it again. like this is the best we’re gonna get. goddammit it’s been so long since i’ve cried over techno but i teared up typing this message fuck i want him back so bad

i know nonnie i know, i feel you so much <3 i recall a decent while ago, when phil was doing those gta streams, he mentioned how he wanted to rig it so his friends could be in control of the mod instead of the chat, and it was so strange because he said “like will, and tommy,” and that was the end of the sentence but it felt like a comma instead of a period. that’s just a memory that sticks out to me, i guess — that unsettling void where techno’s name is supposed to go. 3/4 implies that 4/4 is…. Possible, i guess, and it stings every time to think about it

i do find it a sweet way of looking at things though when people say it’s 4/4 because one of them is wearing techno merch, or techno was mentioned, or simply that any 3/4 is 4/4 in some way because of how they carry on his memory through stories and things like that

it’s never gonna get easier to think about how he’s gone and that’s the worst part, of course.. i still get surprised over how easily i cry about it when i start to think but that’s just how it goes, and it’s good to let yourself sit with that feeling when it does pass you by i think. it’s terrible to know so many of you feel that same way but it’s relieving to know none of us are alone

ehehe, good question! as you guessed, i can’t give you a straight answer without directly spoiling anything. let’s just say Dynamite Pass (the place Wilbur was sending letters from) being “a man-made gorge hollowed out by a now defunct mining company” is supposed to ring some bells.

in general, though, this AU is all over the place and not meant to be inspired by one specific series/characterization of anyone, but an amalgamation of anything and everything we feel like. like, Dan’s family and the chickens are taken directly from the Lads’ Minecraft stream, but him being a farmer is because of Stardew Valley, meanwhile the gang Daithi and Brian are in is most tied to the Vanoss Crew’s GTA videos, i guess? so there’s no specific iteration anyone is supposed to be, it’s just whatever works.

I think it would be cute if one day Wilbur had invited Quackity over because sally had just sued for custody and Wilbur wanted someone’s opinion on what his next move should be. Even if Quackity isn’t a lawyer, he can still help him go over law.

—not my best writing, but—

Wilbur had been standing at the kitchen counter and Quackity was sat on one of the barstools while they went over paper work. Fundy was playing some random video game in the living room. Eventually Wilbur gets a phone call, “I have to take this.” He steps out of the room and now Quackity is just left watching the video game that Fundy is playing, no clue how long Wil’s call will take.

“So, what game are you playing?” Quackity asks, trying to avoid making things awkward.

Fundy pauses his game and sets his controller down before looking back at Q. “Have you never played GTA Mr. Quackity?”

Quackity’s smile falters. “Your dad lets you play GTA? Also you can just call me Quackity or Q.”

“As long as I don’t go into the ‘party places’ he doesn’t care.” He explains.

“You mean the str- Uh. That’s interesting.”

“Wanna try?”

Quackity nods and slowly walks over to the couch, picking up the controller that Fundy had been playing with previously. “So what do you do when you play?”

Fundy shrugs. “I like to rob stores and carjack. I think it’s fun.”

“That’s interesting? Violent? I-“ He cuts himself off not sure where he was going with it.

“Dad calls it stress relief.” Fundy goes quiet for a moment before pointing at something on the TV. “oh, shit! You’re being chased. You have to go Quackity!”

Quackity smiles, deciding to not call the boy out on the language and instead just focuses on loosing the police officer that was following him.

At some point Wilbur came back in the room to see his boyfriend playing video games with Fundy, silently taking a photo of the two energetically looking at the screen. He made his way over to the couch and sat down next to Quackity, a stupid smile spread across both of their faces. He knew Quackity would probably scold him later for letting a child play GTA, but for now he would just lay his head on the shorter’s shoulder, pushing off the bad news he’d just received in that phone call.

this is so wholesome and excellent, and Wilbur is absolutely the kind of parent to let Fundy play GTA
