Just like I can always trust Superman And Lois to deliver in terms of adapting Superman, I can always trust Legends of Tomorrow to be a good fuckin’ time. Even if there are some season that are weaker than others, tuning in an episode of Legends never feels like a chore for me. Instead, I anticipate the weekly episode each week, waiting to see what shenaningans those screw ups will end up getting into. And boy, does this episode deliver. Listen, I already loved the whole “Evil Robot Legends hunt down the Legends through time.”, but to actually have an episode about them, see their struggles and character development(Even if the centerpieces were Zari and Sara) is a fantastic idea. The second half of the season in fact doesn’t show us what the Legends got up into after the midseason finale, but instead decides to focus on the Robo Legends hunting them down. And to have them believe they are the Legends was a fantastic move. The meta commentary isn’t lost on me. We have the Sara so many longed for, the ruthless assassin straight out of the League of Assassins of the earlier seasons, and to see her speedrun her character development by first questioning if fixing the timeline is the right choise and then deciding “screw history” was fantastic. Props to the writers! Zari is also a fusion between Zari Tomaz and Zari Tarazi. An incredible hacker with a sense of right and wrong, but also the Zari whose ego can be easily flattered and that needs to be the one in control.  The other Legends were one dimensional, and really, that’s fine. This is how Evil Gideon sees the Legends(Further reprogrammed to better do its bidding) so I’m not really surprised to see them as violent trigger happy idiots. They are the chainsaw to fix history. Props for the Doctor Sharpe character, that was truly menacing, by the way! In the end, this episode doesn’t tell us much, and that’s good. I feel this is a breather, a way to get us back into action and the way for the show to ease us back into the wacky madness this season has been. Excited to see where we go from here! Other random considerations:  -Man, do I love the actor somehow selling those characters. The delivery was key to make the episode work, and everyone gave their best game to make this work! -Steel Nate always being “steeled on”(Or as he says, hard.): Was that supposed to be a reference to the comics? In which, if I’m not mistaken, he doesn’t actually steel up and has just stronger endurance as his skin became steel like. Either way, I wouldn’t mind if that became the basis to show Nate’s power from now on(Obviously hoping Nate doesn’t leave for Season 8), if only to save the CGI Budget. -Speaking of the CGI Budget. Holy moly how much money did they spend on making Gary an Alien for the whole duration of the episode? Like, I appreciated it but I also know Legends doesn’t have the best budget right now(Never had it tbh) so oof. -It isn’t Avalance if Sara and Ava don’t threaten each other at least one time while staring each other in the eyes very gayly.

Alright, more than a week late, I’m here to talk about LoT’s midseason finale. This time around we are mid-WWII.  I’m gonna start by addressing the things most heavy shown in the episode, which is basically all of Astra’s subplot. There have been a few moments that really shook me: First of all, the workforce leaving the station because PoC were included in the war effort, This is a though reality I imagine everyone learns during thier lives: Just because someone is part of a minority and is fighting to improve their “status”, so to say, it doesn’t necessarily make them free of prejudice or your ally. I was ready to see everyone work together but alas... That’s actually a good thing, by the way. I appreciate LoT because for all its whacky and hilarious atmosphere, it never shies away from showing how bad history could be. At first it was with Jax, now with half the cast, as far as I remember identity is not handwaved as a minor detail they can just ignore. Which leads me to the second point I needed to discuss: The conversation between the cleaning lady (And I apologise because I believe the name wasn’t mentioned in the episode itself and I can’t find the name of actress to check what the role was credited as) and Astra is another strong point of the episode: I like how neither is proved exactly wrong or right, and both learn from each other. I think it's something that is awfully true to our world. I find it that the young can be shortsighted or very “idealistic” in their beliefs, and need the elder to challenge their views and make them see that unfortunately our world is not black and white, but coloured in shades of gray, idk if it makes sense what I’m trying to say. And likewise, the elder need the youth’s energy to challenge the status quo, the youth to underline how just because things barely improved or were always this way it doesn’t mean they cannot be improved further. The main takeaway I got is that change doesn’t happen overnight, but that doesn’t mean not taking all the chances you get, or grow complacent because “At least things are better than before.” Once again, kudos to you, LoT! I like how they take their time with the issues they deal with instead of just saying token Good Things ™ and then doing literally nothing. Moving on the episode’s B-Plot: I enjoyed that little window in Persian culture. Frankly, I am no expert on that so I can’t say if their portrayal was accurate or not, but it was nice to see them lean in in the Tarazi’s heritage, and we got to see Behrad’s character development! Yay! Now, for final ramblings I don’t really know how to tie into coherent sections: -I’m still not exactly feeling Astra/Behrad. Hell, I’m also getting mixed signals because Spooner/Astra continues to get beautiful moments, Behrad seems to be growing closer to Gwyn, and at some point Gary(and by extension Gideon) fit in too. I mean, I always joked the Legends are just one big polycule but it has never felt this true faidaidhawi -RIP Bishop. I was starting to like you too but alas it wasn’t meant to be. Although I fully expect you to have a backup plan but ouch that execution was painful to watch. Fuck.
