Have been spending some of my evenings this week putting way too much thought into Pokemon Teams For Yugioh GX Characters and making these little pictographs for them..... i am. Extremely lost in the sauce and having a great time hi how about you

I also wrote down my reasonings for all of my choices which is under the cut if you want to read some 2k words of absolute disjointed jabbering dfgsdf

JADEN:

Sylveon: I thought about Just Eevee but no, cmon, this thing absolutely evolved with love and affection and friendship. AND its good at conflict resolution and charges into battle against much stronger/larger opponents. Also hoohee trans flag colors

Electivire: SPARKMANNNN also just E-Heroes in general. It looks like one. Zap zap

Clawitzer: lol fried shrimp. Compliments Chazz's Dragalge. Jaden legally needs one (1) Pokemon you get from fishing WAIT ALSO ITS BIG CLAW IS KIND OF LIKE FLAME WINGMAN'S DRAGON ARM. HI

Single Strike Urshifu: E-HEROES AS WELL Also this one is Red and hits hard in one blow. The Dark type invokes the Supreme King also

Buzzwole: Neossss/Neo Space and Ultra Space are big handshakes don't tell me theyre not. Also big buff furry this thing is absolutely Neo Spaciancore and Jaden would LOVE IT

Hoopa: *booming voice* THATS YUBEL. and the portals. and the dimensions. and the portals and the dark type and the and and the. Switches between Funny Little Demon and Gigantic Unstoppable Monster…Also bonkers strong and the Prison Bottle reminds me of the Mewtwo Tube Yubel was stuck in initially

CHAZZ:

Luxray: MANJOUME THUNDERRRRRR also he. He looks like one. They have the same haircut and attitude

Haxorus: ARMED DRAGON LV. 10 LET’S HEAR IT FOR DRAGONS WITH AXE TEETH

Dragalge: Gnarly Poison type, compliments Jaden’s Clawitzer, another Dragon for an extensive dragon user (in the manga). Makes ships disappear and Chazz canonly got lost at sea lmao

Trubbish: haha funny stinky garbage. Silly looking like an Ojama. Like. The pinnacle of a weak little freak Pokemon Chazz would cherish I think

(Shiny) Dreepy: The Ojama Yellow stand in :) Floating goofy yellowish critter with big bug eyes and just absolutely awful moves and stats. Also the Dreepy line invokes the XYZ Dragon Cannon archetype like a lot I think

Unown O: The O stands for “Ojama” <3 Another wimpyass Pokemon most people don’t give a second thought. Plus, one eye like Ojama Green

SYRUS:

(Shiny) Magnezone: (Shiny because of a bit from a yugioh server im in. Also god just let him have the W ok.) Magnemite line EXTREMELY Vehicroid-energy. A silly Machine friend with googly eyes!!

Rotom: It possesses machines!! It has cartoony eyes and bouncy energy!!! Another Vehicroid coded Pokemon for sure. I think Syrus would love it. It can hang out in his duel disc.

Oshawott: He Just Is One IMO Sorry. The implication is one day it’ll evolve into a regular Samurott as opposed to Zane’s H-Samurott. Embodying the fighting with the spirit of protection and respect that Sy’s been trying to uphold this whole time. Weeping and crying.

Lairon: Giving Sy a lot of the same Pokemon as Zane to illustrate the ongoing issue with Syrus trying So Hard to emulate his brother that he hasn’t figured out how to just do his own thing yet. :,( Also Lairon is metal and car shaped and its eyes are the color of Sy’s hair and he Needs something armored to invoke the Transformation dragon armor he gets in the manga.

Metang: Stacking him up with middle evolutions to show how he’s still growing and changing as a trainer/duelist. Also, again, mega Vehicroidcore, Pokemon lore establishes Metang comes forth when two Beldum fuse…. Literal Polymerization Pokemon that’s literally Pair Cydroid hello

Drapion: Cyberdark Dragon<3 Big gnarly mean beast that can rip apart cars, also “Ogre Scorpion Pokemon” got me thinking about Cyber Ogre/the Cyber Legacy that Sy inherits in Tag Force. Wahhh

ALEXIS:

Hisuian Lilligant: EXTREME Cyber Angel/Cyber Blader energy in design and strength, tough Female Fighting type, like cmon she’s even wearing ice skate blades and is accustomed to cold temperatures.

Froslass: Her White Veil/White Night/Society of Light era, also spooky Ghost type calls to mind rituals and Ritual Summoning a little bit

Lurantis: Another Cyber-Angelish Pokemon, described as moving like a dancer. Lesbian.

Alolan Ninetales: Calm and beautiful, her whole manga Deck is Ice themed so like *gesturing at Ice types* Also it’s cute if she has A-Ninetales and Atticus has regular Ninetales, so sue me <3

Oricorio: Adaptable little dancer bird, the Baile style is described as fierce and passionate. Also the red dress Atticus wanted her to wear in their pop duo lmao

Bisharp: Cyber Angel Dakini vibes, also the way it commands a gaggle of Pawniards a little shout out to Jasmine and Mindy and how they’ll go along with whatever she says

ZANE:

Hydreigon: CYBER END DRAGON!!!!! Three heads, ludicrously powerful, “the Brutal Pokemon,” was supposed to be a tank/machine, bites and destroys everything in its path, the GERMAN echoing Zane’s German associations/the German names in all the Cyber Dragon support monsters….my god. Hell Kaiser Pokemon of all time.

(Mega) Aggron: Absolute metal cyber-machine-looking ass behemoth, I know Zane would fuck with Mega evolution so hard. Ultra high defense… literal Power Wall.

Hisuian Samurott: This Pokemon Has The Same Personality as Him. :,) Cold and mean and doing anything to win as opposed to regular Samurott fighting fair, still and silent until an enemy approaches, then merciless and vicious. Ceaseless Edge indeed

Steelix: Looks like a Cyber Dragon <3 Literally learns Dragonbreath <33

Low Key Toxtricity: A.) he bigly needs an Electric type, B.) the two Toxtricity types have the exact personality dynamic of Zane and Atticus, C.) “this Pokémon looks down on all that would challenge it” ain’t that a Hell Kaiser mood.

Dialga: cmon i can’t Not give him Dialga. Steel/Dragon, looks like a Cyber monster, hits like an absolute truck, Primal Dialga PMD has his color scheme, also oof ow ouchie Zane and the concept of time/running out of it *muffled yelling*

ATTICUS:

(Shiny) Charizard: yeah ok this one is just Red-Eyes

Alolan Exeggutor: palm tree tropical island hawaiian shirt vacationnnnnn… also it’s just funny. Objectively the silliest Dragon type for a very goofy Dragon user. Alternatively I originally had Altaria here too, soft singsongy dragon (also ties to his air/sky themed manga deck)

Primarina: Long haired pop idol water mammal that uses every battle as a stage hmmm who could that be…… Also he bigly needs a Pokemon that can learn Blizzard. hoohee And he and zane both have seal/sea lion starters :,)

Ninetales: Elegant and beautiful Fire type with red eyes, absolute prettyboy… also the Alpha one in PLA is Very At The Volcano like Atticus always seems to end up </3 Also the compliment to Alexis’ Alolan Ninetales of course

Amped Toxtricity: It has his upbeat personality!! It counters perfectly with Zane’s Low Key one!! Also hehe funny music guitar playing reptile.

(Origin) Giratina: NIGHTSHROUDDD DARKNESSSS BABEYYYY funky Ghost type possession implications, its head kind of looks like The Mask, it lives in a shadowy reverse dimension, its wings and color palette very reminiscent of Red Eyes Darkness/Darkness Metal Dragon… love it

ASTER:

Talonflame: haha, “Phoenix.” Also the extreme sports and the skydiving and XY era OU sweeping ability of this guy and its Gale Wings

Gliscor: D-Hero Plasma!!! Literally a blood sucking winged vampire beast with pinsir hands. Obligatory Batman Pokemon.

Rapid Strike Urshifu: Mirrors Jaden’s Single Strike Urshifu like E-Heroes mirror D-Heroes, Pokedex says “all it takes is a glare from [it] to take the lives of those with evil in their hearts,” also dear GOD the way this thing kicks ass in competitive and especially eats Steel types for breakfast.

Gallade: Matches Sartorius’ Gardevoir, protective and honorable and deeply attuned to aiding others, also Future Sight lol

Weavile: Short, smug little fucker, knife hands like D-Hero Dogma and Dragoon, particularly powerful and tricky in Double Battles (Aster/Jaden tag duel in the virtual world, hello), also had to give him at least one Dark type.

Terrakion: He needs one of the Swords of Justice he just has to <3 It’s a dad <333 Pained smile <33333 Also was an aggressive and LETHAL Hydreigon counter in the BW days.

JESSE:

Espeon: *southern accent* RUBY !!!!!!!!

(Shiny) Ponyta: THERE IT IS, THERE IT ISSSSS had to give him pretty sparkly Shiny. Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus. Hooves canonly harder than diamond.

Diancie: I wasn’t going to give him two Legendaries but, cmon, Diancie. Crystal Beast of All Time. Also Mega Diancie’s stats make it an absolute competitive monster

Vespiquen: His manga deck full of bugs, Queen Butterfly Danaus (ok even though Vespiquen is a bee shhhhh), AND she learns Power Gem!!

Mamoswine: If I didn’t give him representation for Amber Mammoth I would die sorry. Also he needs an Ice type for North Academy/Mr. Johann Scandanavian Andersen

Ultra Necrozma: RAINBOWWWW DRAGONNNNNNNN And Rainbow Dark too honestly!!! VIolently powerful, takes over and corrupts Lunala and Solgaleo the way Yubel took over his mind, also dear God someone out here needs something with a hint of Light of Destruction loooolllll

BASTION:

Gyarados: Yeeeahh Water Dragon!!!!!!

Grimmsnarl: YEEEAHH Red Ogre!!!!!! (his ace card in the manga)

Dusknoir: Another nod to his manga deck full of zombies and yokai!! Bastion ended up with a lot of 2-stage Pokemon lmao. He can have that W for once

Alakazam: Really fuckin smart and a beefy-ass Special sweeper!!!! And it’s yellow…yknow, like his uniform

Magnemite: Another funky little sciency-Pokemon, also his Earth-deck full of Magnet Warriors. He can have a little buddy as a treat.

Incineroar: That’s Tania :^)

HASSLEBERRY:

Tyrantrum: Big ‘ol burly T-rex with a thing on its head… he literally turns into one of those Multiple Times. This is Just His Fursona.

Tyranitar: Dark Tyranno and Ultimate Tyranno and Tyranno Infinity and and and…..

Archen: Archeonysss he should get to have a Funny Little Guy. Also its color palette is the dorm colors, awww

Falinks: Shoutout to his bonkers constant military jargon in the dub. Reporting for duty!!

Torterra: Jurassic World, this turtle done got a Whole Field Spell on its back!! Also the “Earthquake” card *changes all your face up Monsters to Defense position and hits you for direct damage*

Sandslash: Similar color palette, helpful fossil digging Pokemon :^)

BLAIR:

Nidorina: Maiden in Love, Defense Maiden, all her Love Deck gals… also it’s cute giving her a dino-like Pokemon since she hangs out so much with Hassleberry in s4.

Luvdisc: The absolute mushy gushy but not particularly powerful Love Pokemon of All Time. Happy Marriage.

Chansey: Mystic Egg and all her dorky ass egg puns

(Mega) Ampharos: Her Lightsworns in Tag Force (god we really don’t have enough angel Pokemon huh), especially Judgment Dragon. Also her Scapegoat/Stray Lambs cards

Chingling: Her sub name (Rei) means “Bell!!” Also just a cute little fella I think she’d like

Dragonite: Mystic Dragon :3

CHUMLEY:

Komala: Des Koala my friend Des Koala and Big Koala and Every Koala. *takes a nap*

Kangaskhan: Des Kangarooooo also

Smeargle: cmon, gotta give him The painter Pokemon!!!!

Rhyhorn: Needed to give him a Rock type for Ayer’s Rock Sunrise, and Rhyhorn is just the bulky guy for the job

Numel: The hot sauce, the grilled cheeses, the way it’s highly acute to hunger. Also the Volcano duel Lava Bubble.

Snorlax: Master of Oz!!!! Gotta give him something with absolutely tanky HP to represent that 4000 ATK. Also just a big sleepy friend.

JIM:

Krookodile: He’s gotta have Shirley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And a Ground type to boot, perfect for a guy who uses a Fossil deck.

Bronzor: His Eye of Oricalchum, polish it and it shows the truth. ah <3

Bastiodon: Gotta have a Fossil Pokemon for the Fossil dec!! Especially invocative of Fossil Dragon Skullgar and all his bonkers big bulky rideable Fossil Machines

Marowak: Fossil Warrior Skull Knight….Fossil Warrior Skull Bone…. Fossil Warrior Skull King…..

Spiritomb: For his BANANAS manga counterpart who is straight up possessed by an ancient evil spirit. Has a fucky eye too.

Croconaw: Will one day be Feraligatr, nod to his manga deck which is explicitly full of alligators. Also cavemen/fossil vibes.

AXEL:

Turtonator: Volcanic Shell, Volcanic Mine, Volcanic Doomfire, really just emblematic of his Volcanic Burn deck on the whole *explodes*

Magmortar: Blaze Accelerator, Tri-Blaze Accelerator, literal volcanic gun cannon Pokemon, slap a little blue on it and it’d have the color palette of his duel disc. Also mirrors Jaden’s Electivire, cuz that Supreme King Duel rocks hard

Hisuian Growlithe: Axel being a “dog of battle,” Fire/Rock, lives amongst volcanoes, works well with a partner, needs a lot of time to build trust with. Also it’s just cute ;__;

Alolan Marowak: Another Volcanic-energy Pokemon, can run recoil-free Flare Blitz, a sturdy survivalist. Also, ok, if he’s gonna have that “Volcanic Queen reminds me of my mom”thing then I Gotta give him a known Mother-invoking Pokemon. Also it matches Jim’s Marowak. They’re married.

Vikavolt: His manga deck full of electric and machine based monsters, also the wilds of Vast Poni Canyon where you evolve it got those untamed Dark World traveling vibes.

Volcarona: The Blazing Mars from his Manga deck, would fit in right at home with all of his Volcanic monsters. Described as a replacement sun when volcanic ash darkened the world…. Hmmm. hmmmmmm. Clasps my hands in my lap.

SARTORIUS:

Malamar: Malicious villain with long blue “hair” that hypnotizes and mind controls people to get what it wants, HELLO. Also has the Cthulu-like energy of a Lot of the Arcana Force monsters.

Meowstic-M: Blue and white color palette, more defensive of the two Meowstics, only unleashes true power when defending something, it’s giving “My Sister is Being Held Hostage and I Swear to God I Will Blow Up This Entire Fucking Building if You Try to Stop This Duel” in season 4. I think Sarina would have a Meowstic-F (:

Beheeyem: lalalalaaa Alien Entity, looks like Arcane Force VII - The Chariot a little, also mind controls people and alters their memories, wuh oh!!

Gardevoir: Mirrors Aster’s Gallade, long flowing white robes, predicts the future and protects its loved ones to the death, can run all sorts of annoying status and battle-disrupting moves.

Gothorita: Gothita line kind of the closest we’ve got to straight up Fortune Teller Pokemon, huh? Gothorita specifically has the mind control connotations too, and the scale-like appearance…. Thinking about that damn giant Fall into Lava and Die scale.

Celesteela: It’s the kill all life on earth/mind control satellite!!!!!! Also He Needs some weird other dimensional space creature for all of the Light of Destruction

FUJIWARA:

Togekiss: Yeah that’s Honest sorry :^) Angel bird

Exeggutor: Ok it’s just really funny, but also his hair does straight up look like one. Compliments Atticus’ A-Exeggutor, plus has the whole “the three heads don't seem to be very interested in one another” thing re: his issues forming bonds with people.

Hisuian Zoroark: Good GOD. A.) he needs a Normal type for all the Clear World bullshit, B.) *looks at this shambling spite-driven beast that hates every living thing on Earth and causes illusions that drive people to madness and aches from the pain of its bitter energy but can be a powerful compassionate ally to those who earn its trust* Yeah This’ll Do Quite Nicely. Also Honest’s illusions and masquerading.

Yamask: The Nightshroud mask, also oouughhh that’s a dead person trying not to be forgotten aauughhhhhh

Nihilego: GOOD GOD. Nightshroud monster!! Darkness monster!!! The relief of nihilism vs the suffering of individuality incarnate, the otherworldliness, the parasite that latches onto your head (like a mask <3) and possesses you and turns all your focus and desires upon it, HOOOWEEEEE.

(Origin) Palkia: Clear Vice Dragon but also I wanted him to have Palkia so the Obelisk Elite trio can have the Sinnoh Legendary Trio. Invokes the World of Darkness and Nightshroud god complex out the ass. Can create and destroy space, lives in spacial tatters, Origin Palkia is especially so fucked up and weird it suits this weirdo Bigly.
