Kinda been in the mode of finishing up things today rather than starting anything new. 

The podtwins are Gaian (the minty green one) and Owyn (the darker more olive green one). They’re actual symbiotes! And they have approximately one brain cell to rub together between them and are noon blooms through and through.  Then my brain decided it would be a good idea to draw Llwyr emotionally compromised being touched tenderly on the cheek. Yeah....

Best of 2023 - Spotify wrapped 2023

Better late than never, right? 😉

This was not entirely expected; I made a real effort to take the time to listen to some of my favourite music released in 2022 (much of which I discovered towards the end of the year), which is one of the reasons why Konvent and Faetooth both ranked so highly.

Apparently I listened to 16 hours of Konvent this year (which really doesn't seem that many!) which puts me in the top 0.5% of listeners. Go me?!

In terms of music released last year (2023), we had new albums by both Ahab (one of my favourite bands ever) and Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean, and I had them both on rotation. I also spend some time delving through Thou's back catalogue (apparently, quite a bit of time!).

I also ended up doing some study at home; turns out my relax/focus music is crushing doom metal, which also explains why Konvent ranked so highly, and also A Hymn of Loss and Hope by Bismuth & Vile creature (I'm kinda shocked that it ranked number 5, considering it's a 40 minute long song!).

This... tracks. Most of the playlists are more dumping grounds for songs with similar vibes, or half-finished ideas, but I did finish quite a few this year, and I also use playlists to manage and track new songs and artists I find, so that makes sense.

This year we also got allocated a 'sound town'; a location where people tended to listen to similar artists. You may have seen the memes about queer listeners getting one of Cambridge Massachusetts, Burlington Vermont, and Berkeley California.

My top genres were Post-Metal, Atmospheric Black Metal, Gaian Doom, Metal and Alternative Rock.

'Course, this was also the first year in a while that I started purchasing music again (mostly digitally via Band Camp, but a couple of CDs too). Spotify Wrapped is fun and all, but don't forget to support your favourite artists if you're able to!

While the thumb of his free hand---the one currently not drawing coy circles upon his companion’s chest---massaged the corner of his lip clear of the gleefully delicious ichor, a breath of a chuckle escaped Kuja at the cheeky grasp upon the bare flesh that peeked from beneath his silken garment. Typically, the god of dark desires would immediately punish any mortal fool who would dare touch him in such a disrespectful fashion without his express permission, but he supposed that such attention---such flirtation---could be welcomed when one had come to properly deserve it. And Luxu had done that this night---in abundance.

“I do suppose you have a point,” was his hum of a response---though, at last, his focus on Luxu shifted, back towards the throng, which seemed to teeter between trying to continue their merriment and awaiting the commandments they knew were soon to come.

Of course, while Kuja would have been more than pleased to continue on in this current vein of basking, there was still much to be done, now that the brilliance of the stars had aligned in his favor---at least, until that accursed sun would decide to spoil his revelries.

“Sincerest apologies, Luxu," and sleek talons stroked along that strong, sharp jawline, "but if I do not commence the festivities, these humans would gawk at us until the next century.”

With an effortless movement of his lithe form, Kuja drifted upright from his “throne,” delicate, bare feet touching upon the floor soundlessly---robes flittering about him, captured by a celestial updraft, as every eye turned towards him, and every set of lungs became instinctively choked of air at the very sight of his approach.

 “My loyal darlings,” he greeted them, arms rising theatrically, a trail of glimmer following the grandiose gesture, “upon the fall of this fortuitous darkness---upon this, my Caliginis celebration---lit by the fires of lust and hunger, you oh-so wisely have come to seek my blessings. And so, now, each of your offerings---each coin, gem, precious possession, no matter how meager---are to be placed at my feet, for my examination.

“And you know,” he added, his usual dulcet tones dropping to something sinister, “...what is to happen afterwards.”
