I have to accept this. I am now committed to the struggle for the cause of poor and defenseless farmers, an oppressed people caught in the clutches of the large estates. Today I will be discussing Alastor’s fascination with the radio in connection to his Louisiana Voodoo beliefs/heritage. This is all headcanon, of course, based on canon material. Okay, let’s get into it below!
In order to explain his specific obsession with the radio, I must first go over his heritage and the culture surrounding it. Alastor’s family is deeply rooted in the practice of Voodoo on his mother’s side (His mother is African American. Please stop white washing his character. He’s mixed. This is canon.) His grandmother was a voodoo queen (priestess) who held a large amount of influence over his immediate community and his entire family (A type of spiritual leader/mother). His mother, also majorly involved in the belief, raised him with it. This explains his respect of women and importance placed on elders among a number of other things I may get into some other time, but the most important and relevant traditions/beliefs that stick with Alastor past his death is the power of music. Voodoo is heavily centered around music, dance, and the spirituality surrounding it. This quote by a Louisiana native is one that I find particularly interesting. “If done right, the music should take possession of you. You won’t be able to stand still. And if that happens, you are doing Voodoo.” -- Jerry Gandolfo. So, what I gain from this is, Alastor has grown up around these ritualistic songs and dances for most if not all of his childhood. (In these ceremonies, symbols would often be drawn in the ground surrounding a fire as the congregation danced around it. That explains just how he knows these symbols and utilizes them in hell.) He was taught that these songs could not only connect the congregation spiritually, but even do things such as summon the dead as well. I imagine he thought that was a huge amount of power, obviously being attracted to it. Pictured below is the Voodoo symbol of Papa Legba (the devil), seen in the Hazbin Hotel pilot.
Now, to the radio. The radio comes along and all people of every color, lifestyle, and religion flock to this device. He makes the connection that, knowing how powerful music is in his culture, he can fulfill his own spirituality (which his mother pushes) and even carry on his grandmother’s legacy by gaining access to the radio. He thought about it differently than someone who hadn’t experienced the Voodoo culture might. It was literally seen by him as a device with beyond human power. The influence he’d have as a radio host was too incredible to pass up. Being a bright, rebellious, and forward thinking young man, he ‘gets with the times’ so to speak. A new era of connection. I believe that one reason he ended up going to hell was the purpose for which he wanted to use the radio. He slowly left his spirituality behind, only sticking to the skeletal principals of Voodoo as he craved more and more control over the masses. Being introduced to the possibility of so much power over other beings as a child was the start and his broadcast-ed acts of mass destruction after death was the end.
To sum this up, he doesn’t just use the radio because he thinks it’s technologically valuable and widespread. It’s his weapon of choice because he believes it holds power/magic.
(Canon connections to support this: Alastor makes use of Voodoo symbols in hell when he uses his powers. Viv has said in the past that Alastor speaks creole, which is the primary language of the people who practice Voodoo in New Orleans. The style around his powers, look, speech, and musical number all point to New Orleans. Jambalaya is another obvious cultural reference.)

Against the backdrop of a team known as Panthera Team Asia F1 declaring their intentions to enter F1, in 2021 and Ross Brawn recently declaring there has been a "surprising" amount of interest from new potential entrants, another team has been publicly thrown into the mix. Via motorsport.com, Campos Racing owner Adrian Campos has teamed up with co-owner Salvatore Gandolfo and his company, MIM, to prepare a new Spanish team to enter F1 in 2021. - "With the new budget cap, the new distribution of incomes and the new technical and sporting regulations, there is a great opportunity for smaller teams to compete and ultimately to make the FIA Formula 1 World Championship more interesting and balanced again", is a quote from Gandolfo, whilst the team have already recruited a number of technical staff and are in negotiations with current F1 teams and engine suppliers, with regards to putting together "the best possible partnership" for 2021. - Campos/MIM has named Pascal Wehrlein, who has previous F1 experience and is currently making waves at Mahindra, in Formula E, as one of its preferred drivers, whilst Alex Palou, the Spanish driver who currently occupies 3rd in the Super Formula standings, is the other. Campos Racing currently fields a team in F2, F3 and Euroformula Open, with Jack Aitken (pictured) having emerged as their standout driver. Have you always wanted to be a writer? I came into reading late in life, and writing not long after that. I was a computer consultant and graphics designer before then.
Why did you choose to write your genre? From my first paranormal cartoon, Isis, to the Twilight phenomenon; myth, magic, and superpowers have always held a special place in my heart. I simply love the energy of it all!
What are you currently working on? Dark Seeds, which is a short-story spin-off from my Ovialell series that will be included in a magical/witchy anthology scheduled to come out this fall.

What motivated the plot of your latest book? Dark Seeds is a deeper, side-look at some behind the scene things that will have happened at the end of book one in the series, but from the bad-guy’s perspective. Since I’ll be writing books two and three sometime next year, I thought it would be a great teaser to set up.
What is the strangest subject or topic you’ve ever written? For my Rose Trilogy, I did a lot of research on Mayan demonology.
What was the hardest story for you to write? It’s a sci-fi dystopian that is currently with my agent. It was a jump into a new genre for me, which took some time to develop.
What process do you use to plan your novels? I’m not really sure I have a plan, lol. I simply get an idea, develop an overall arc and let it develop from there.
Who has been your favorite character to write and why? That’s actually a harder question than you might think. I have multiple favorites for different reasons. Trin from the Witches of BlackBrook is one of my favorites because of how powerful she is, but also remains pretty unassuming throughout the book. Raven from Raven’s Breath is probably my all-time fave, though. As she’s a sexy, strong, bad-ass Reaper who has issues. She makes me laugh.
Do any of your characters reflect facets of your personality? I suppose in the smallest of ways. Maybe their dependability in certain circumstances, or their smart-mouth here and there, but I’ve never based one directly off of me.
Have you ever experienced writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it? Absolutely, and honestly, I just take a break. If I focus on other things, I’m usually able to overcome it sooner rather than later, or if I tried to force it.
If you were to choose another genre to write in, what would it be? Contemporary Romance, because I find it hard not to have anything paranormal in my stories, so it would be a great challenge.
Which authors inspire you? Gena Showalter and my friends, PC and Kristen Cast.
What novel would you read multiple times? I’ve re-read Nora Robert’s Three Sister’s Island trilogy a few times, as well as her Circle trilogy a couple of times and of course, Harry Potter.
If you could meet anyone in the world, alive or deceased, who would it be and why? (Person could be a fictional character) JK Rowling, because she is magic.
What is your favorite quote?
What is your favorite animal, real or imaginary? A Phoenix
What is your favorite color? Purple
When you’re not writing…Writing is my full-time career, though I do help with some database work for a local company on a part-time basis.

Uscendo poi, il giardino all’italiana di gusto barocco si sviluppa su parterres e terrazze alternando statue e obelischi, scalinate e balaustre che creano un impianto scenografico pensato per simboleggiare la potenza della nobile casata.
Fuori dalla residenza, il piccolo e caratteristico borgo in cui perdersi. In particolare nel Vicolo del Fornello, dove si snodano eleganti botteghe che ospitano una selezione di marchi del Made in Italy, fra cui Alessi, Italian Independent, Antonini, Herno, Bagutta e Gallo. “Il Fornello, Bottega con cucina” è il luogo ideale per una sosta gourmet: sulla terrazza per degustare i piatti della tradizione rivisitati in chiave contemporanea, nel negozio accanto per acquistare materie prime di altissima qualità e portarsi a casa i migliori sapori di cibo italiano.
Una breve traversata porta all’Isola Madre, descritta da Gustave Flaubert come “il luogo più voluttuoso che abbia mai visto al mondo”. È un giardino all’inglese realizzato nell’Ottocento che, grazie ad un clima favorevole, ospita rare piante e fiori esotici provenienti dalle più diverse latitudini. A cui si aggiungono pavoni, pappagalli e fagiani in libertà, creando il fascino di una terra tropicale. Al centro di questo scrigno si staglia il famoso cipresso del Kashmir, divelto da una tromba d’aria e oggi, come un miracolo della natura, sembra di nuovo rifiorire.
Accanto, il Palazzo cinquecentesco conserva prestigiosi arredi di Casa Borromeo e i teatrini delle marionette, le cui rappresentazioni erano destinate all’intrattenimento e allo svago dei membri della famiglia e degli amici.
La sera a scoprire la cucina di lago, nei tanti ristorantini della costa o della suggestiva Isola dei Pescatori.

Isola Bella con il suo giardino all’italiana, ideata in onore della moglie di Carlo I, Isabella d’Adda, è famosa per il suo Palazzo e per il Teatro Massimo o Ninfeo. Con il suo spettacolare fronte scenico a tre piani, sormontato dalla statua dell’unicorno, emblema del casato dei Borromeo, e la Galleria Berthier che accoglie 130 dipinti, sono forse tra i beni culturali più importanti del Lago Maggiore.

Isola Madre accoglie un giardino paesaggistico all’inglese realizzato nell’Ottocento che, grazie ad un clima favorevole, ospita rare piante e fiori esotici provenienti dalle più diverse latitudini. Sopravvissuto a una tromba d’aria, c’è anche un magnifico esemplare di cipresso del Kashmir; ingegnosi tiranti lo assicurano al terreno dell’Isola, esempio della cura dei proprietari e di Gianfranco Giustina, curatore dei giardini delle Isole Borromee e ora anche del giardino di Villa Pallavicino.

La Rocca di Angera è di proprietà dei Borromeo dal 1445. La Rocca è il risultato di 600 anni di interventi architettonici. Attualmente ospita il Museo della Bambola e del Giocattolo, attualmente il più importante in Europa.
Facendo riferimento ai numerosi documenti, recentemente è stato ricostruito un giardino medievale, addolcendo in questo modo i tratti della fortezza inespugnabile.

Villa Pallavicino a Stresa è una proprietà di sedici ettari che include un parco aperto al pubblico dal 1956. La Villa assomiglia a un balcone sul lago, con una vista mozzafiato sulle Isole Borromee. La proprietà ospita anche una magnifica collezione di acidofile di fioriture e proporzioni spettacolari. Nel parco è stato riservato molto spazio a canguri, lama, pavoni, zebre e molti altri animali, gioia delle famiglie che lo visitano.
