JAMES BROWN Concert and movie posters (1965-2008) - SOUL MUSIC CONCERT POSTERS (Part 1/10)

As Bruce Springsteen just release and album entirely filled with covers of great SOUL Music songs, classics or lesser known gems, it is time to reestablish the preeminence of SOUL Music (and Gospel) as best vocal genre.

SOUL Music is plural (Stax, Motown, Southern Soul, Northern Soul, Philly Soul...) and despite being associated with Black musicians - is multicultural and multi ethnic as we have Blue-eyed Soul, Celtic Soul, Psychedelic Soul....as it is a music that transcends races to touch us ALL.

The direct offspring of Gospel, SOUL adds secular tones with tales of desires, sorrow, regrets, joys and so many other emotions. Singers (males and females) can be described as beggars, screamers and shouters. Yet the greatest singers of the genre are indeed Black / African-American and the late 50's to the late 70's have produced some of the greatest songs and Artists of the last Century. Singers who could make us weep, shiver, clap, stomp and bring us to musical ecstasy with their gifted talents and hours of skills honed on the hundreds of shows they gave (20 minutes each set repeated up to 5 times a night)

This week’s BLOG capture some of the giants of the genre in 10 parts illustrated with rare concert and movie posters from all around the world.

We start with the KING OF SOUL, JAMES BROWN whose drive, dictatorship, stamina and countless hits and compositions put him at the top of the genre

Why is it that most of these assholes are STILL not being held accountable? Why is that most of these assholes are STILL getting jobs?

Seriously, the only 4 people on this list who were rightfully held accountable and found guilty and who are serving jail time are: Danny Masterson, Harvey Weinstein, Josh Duggar, and Larry Nassar. Everyone else is literally still getting employed, being found not guilty, or, in Bill Cosby's case, getting out of prison after only a few years.

What the flying fuck happened? After the allegations were made and denying statements were given in response, that was it? That was the end of it? It was as if nothing had happened?

It’s March Madness and the Docs are Playing the Jocks

Trinity Health System and St. Clairsville High School Team Up for Fundraiser Trinity Health System invites the community to join us on Wednesday, March 29, as our Cardiologist Team takes on the coaches of St. Clairsville High School in a charity basketball game to benefit the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Campaign. Spearheading this event is Women of Impact nominee Katie Everson, a former teacher and Walt Disney World Cast Member who lives in Belmont, Ohio. “We are truly excited for this amazing event that will raise money and awareness in the mission to combat the #1 killer of women—heart disease,” Everson said. “Our team—Team Heart and Soul—is so grateful to the Cardiology Team from Trinity Health System and the Coaches Team from St. Clairsville schools for volunteering their time to compete in a fun charity event that will benefit the incredible American Heart Association. We are honored to be partnering with them!” Trinity Health System will be represented by President & CEO Matt Grimshaw; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Matthew Colflesh; Joe LaSalle, Director of Respiratory Services; Dr. Gary Borders; Dr. Lawrence Chukwueke; Dr. Abhishek Shah; Dr. Triston Smith, Interventional Cardiologist; Dr. Gregory Suero, Interventional Cardiologist; Dr. Milton Swaby; Dr. Hardik Valand; respiratory therapist JP Jones; nurse practitioner Breana Burkhart; and Dr. Dave Shaffer from East Ohio Regional Hospital. "Trinity Health System is proud to support the Women of Impact nominee Katie Everson,” Kelly Bettem, Director of Trinity Health System’s Cardiovascular Service Line, said. “Docs vs. Jocks is a fun event to raise awareness of heart disease as well as fundraise for the campaign. At 5 p.m., a Hot Shot Challenge will be held for Grades 3-12, followed by the main event at 6 p.m. in which the doctors and coaches will compete in the ultimate showdown of the Docs vs. the Jocks. Vendors, concessions, raffle baskets, T-shirts, and much more will be available. “In order to stay heart healthy—we must stay active—and these teams will be demonstrating how to stay active and how to have fun while doing it,” Everson said. “We hope to see the whole Valley come out on Wednesday, March 29, at the John Jenkins Court at St. Clairsville High School for an evening that is sure to be a slam dunk. Some background information on Women of Impact nominee Katie Everson: Katie Everson loves working with children and still teaches the First Holy Communion class each Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville. She volunteers at many St. Clairsville elementary, middle, and high school events throughout the year and serves as a board member for the St. Clairsville Library Foundation. She is also a former advisory board member of A Special Wish Ohio Valley. “I am the blessed daughter of Allen and Mary Margaret McGilton of St. Clairsville,” she said. “I am the extremely proud wife of Scott Everson, and an extremely blessed stay-at-home Mom of our four precious children: Ella, McKenna, Aidan, and Ethan.
