A geode dragon. Its wings are useless for flight, but allow it to curl up and camouflage as a normal rock, and the heat of its fire breath has turned its crystal teeth crispy and orange.

Covered in golden garlands and ribbons, The Loved seems to hold to that appreciation others had shown to them in life. Now that they've become nigh-inmortal, we can only hope they remember the cause they once fought for.
So! It's been forever since I drew one of my watchers (undead crystal creatures, slightly similar to liches, with a psychic focus), but there was a fun design challenge on the art Discord I run and I couldn't resist. I'm sure I’m gonna use this fella for my campaign, at least! Got any suggestions for their personality? Their backstory? I’m still deciding stuff, so I’d love to see what can people come up with!

4, 5, 8 for art meme? 👀
4. What's your least favorite part of the body to draw, if any?
Honestly, lips are a nightmare for me. Their shape is more complex, but the more detail you include the more uncanny they get, so I'm always throwing down a stroke of colour two and just praying for the best.
5. What piece of art are you still proud of to this day? (Show or describe)
It's really tough to choose just one, because I'm really happy with a few of them for different reasons. I'm going to give it to Mr Sacks though, for being the perfect marriage of animation and sound.
8. How would you describe your art style?
Puhhh... messy, textured with visible strokes, more often on the side of realistic proportions but with colours frequently on the impressionist side of things.

Deep Cave Monster: Zeopom
Zeopom's fur is made up of small, bristle-like crystals with a variety of uses, ranging from medicinal to construction. It often submerges itself in the warm, nutrient-rich waters in the caves it lives in, which keeps its fur healthy and shiny. It’s notably friendly for an underground monster, but it’s easily startled - it's best not to attempt to pet it.

the next Monstar is Cowrock, the Geode Mollusk Monstar
Tumblr media
Description:
"Cowrock can often be found along rocky coastlines, filtering sand through its rocky shell. The rocky "shell" is actually a geode that they pried in half and live inside. The arm-like growths are actually something akin to feelers."
Cowrock's name is strange in that the ROCK part is clear, but the "cow-" part is not. Cowrock looks nothing like a cow, but more like a clam or mollusk, and that's because it is! The "cow-" part of its name comes from the word COWRIE. But what exactly is a cowrie?
Tumblr media
This is a cowrie! Cowries are aquatic mollusks with typically smooth, egglike shells. However, most people dont end up seeing cowries while theyre alive, and typically see them like this:
Tumblr media
Cowrie shells have traditionally been used as "shell money" in various coastal indigenous tribes in places like Africa and Southeast Asia, but have expanded outwards in use as jewelry as well. Cowrie shells also have a connection with spirituality recently, being representative of femininity and prosperity.
Cowrock's other inspiration is with geodes, in which Cowrock lives inside of and sucks nutritious minerals from the crystals and ores inside the rocks.

Putting your characters in a kidnapping scenario is a great way to practice characterization because there are just so many ways you can take being kidnapped. Are they terrified and crying? Or calm and determined? Screaming and yelling curses or making jokes? How about begging for mercy? Immediately getting violent?
And when/if they break, how does their behavior change? You can have a character start calm and collected and turn paranoid after weeks or months in captivity. Iconically, take your defiant and cocky character and make them scared and meek. Take the sweet innocent character and turn them into a monster. How would your OC develop if they were in a problem like this?
My closing statement is, test your characters. Like a geode, you need to break it to see the gems inside.

What if you split the farmer into their component elements for the co-op experience in universe.
Imagine the town when not one, but four farmers descend on their tiny town. (Or dear god eight)
The Farmer
Feral as always, will use bombs to clear the farm and can raze the cindersnap in a day if they want to. Can be found shoving plants into their backpack in the woods or tending the fields, has beef with Pierre. Will grow your favorite crops and cries in happiness when their greenhouse is built.
The Rancher
The farmers counterpart. Is always at Marnies examining new babies and bringing them home, always bugging Robin for an expansion or new farm building, can be found surrounded by animals at any given time. Will randomly hand you an egg from their pocket or the foot of a rabbit if they like you, has spent the farmer fund on hay in the winter. Has an actual fucking dinosaur and will let you pet it.
The Geologist
Or as I like to call them, the cave goblin.
Can be found in the caves at almost any hour with a backpack full of rocks, absolutely swole and destroys monsters without a care because rocks! They have almost single handedly completed the museum and kept Clint in business, and will stare at him with an unblinking gaze while he cracks open their geodes. Lord have mercy when this fucker gets to skull caverns.
The Fisherman
(Willy’s favorite)
They have kept the art of fishing alive and have caught every single fish in The Valley by the second year. Can be found anywhere near water and has managed to drag up whole chests. Has horrified townsfolk by eating raw algae straight from the water or gelatinous goo they fished up. Has eaten a raw fish before.
Sometimes spotted defending into the mines with a fishing pole and returning with freaky fish they’ll gladly present to Willy, has also been spotted going into the sewers with their pole.
That’s not to say the farmers don’t work together. They are a force of nature. Ask for something on the board? Prepare for four people running up to you with that item. They fight like dogs over the grange and it’s a mix of crops, animal products, shiny rocks, and fresh fish. On rainy days they’ve been spotted playing in the rain and have woken up Robin more than once stampeding back to their farms from the mines at midnight. No one’s sure their relations to one another or who’s actually related to the old man, and no one asks.
They flirt a lot and will share their goods to increase the others odds of getting a date. On the beginning of every season they are menaces, clearing and prepping the fields with the farmer before they scatter to the wind. Always dirty, always smiling, always wild and fun. There isn’t a dull day in The Valley since they arrived. The local cryptids.
