This humble turtle is from the accordion-style book (ehon), printed by Fukui Gessai, after Ogata Korin (1658-1716). By the look of his determined eye and stretched out leg, he is making his way slowly but surely against the nearby waves. Sometimes we feel we’re moving like a turtle, but eventually we’ll get to where we want to with determination. Go turtle! A total of 24 full-page colored-printed woodblock images. The covers are woodblock printed as well. Language: Japanese. Published: Ōsaka : Aoki Sūzandō, Meiji 26-27 [1893-94]
