Dipper is no stranger to the weird and wonderful, he likes to think he's well acquainted with it now that he's spent a great deal of time in Gravity Falls, exploring the many secrets of the town - but that doesn't change the fact that it's dangerous. Going out into the wilderness is dangerous enough alone without the knowledge that monsters could crawl out of any crevice, ones he had no idea how to deal with. It keeps him on edge, listening for movements, for skittering. In fact he's so focused on his surroundings, braced for anything, that he doesn't notice the giant until he's pretty much right in front of him - looking up at the towering figure that had been obscured by the trees until he stepped out into the clearing. He takes in a shocked gasp that he manages to half muffle with his palm, clapping it over his own mouth to shut himself up. Carefully and slowly he starts stepping back tentatively, as though his movements might make up for the way he'd noisily stumbled his way through the underbrush. Sure, not all monsters are bad but he's really not wanting to take any chances and certainly not with one this size!

Dipper and Mabel-Giant Mystery Twins

Now these two have always been curious

And after the whole ‘Little Dipper incident’, they grew even MORE curious

Dipper more so than Mabel

And they were coming back to Gravity falls for the third time

The two probably went into the woods to find the size changing crystals, and eventually, they found them.

Dipper was planning on using them for actual experiments, like seeing how much they could grow something or how much it would take to shrink something to a certain size

While Dipper was geeking out, Mabel shoved him playfully, probably teasing him about being a dork

Unbeknownst to her, her push was a biiiiit too hard, and she pushed him directly into the blue light

“Damnit!”

She watches as her brother grows to a massive size, probably around 100 feet tall or so

Dipper was probably upset at first, tying not to knock over any trees or hurt the wildlife with his new size

Until Mabel puts herself in the blue light too, growing to his size

”Ha! I still have a centimeter on you!” “Shit up!”

The pair was probably cautious at first, but then they decided to just take it easy

Exploring was a lot easier now with their new line of vision

They did accidentally do some property damage, which Ford wasn’t too happy about

Speaking of, Grunkle Stan probably tried to force Soos to make them into a tourist attraction for the Mystery Shack

He said no

Stan was not happy

Said Soos was a bad businessman

The twins continued to romp and fuck around

At the end of the day, they did have to shrink again

But they spent the rest of their summer experimenting with these crystals and playing around ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It is to Bill's great regret I must say that it's pretty much always there at this point, just at a slower pace than a normal human's heart would beat.
