A Stitch in Time
Elrond, Caranthir's wife, and a Fëanorian heirloom. Rated G.
The quilt had been added to the twins' bed during their first winter at Amon Ereb, after two nights spent curled together for warmth. Clearly their captors — caretakers? Already the lines were blurring — had noticed, and had taken steps to remedy it. It smelled of cedar and gave their room some much-needed color. Large enough to cover the bed of a full-grown man, it was more than sufficient for two children, and could even be folded in half for extra warmth on particularly cold nights.
And it was utterly unlike the other quilts they had seen, with their neat, regular blocks and clear patterns. This one was a rich riot of reds, golds, and browns, with different fabrics cut into asymmetrical shapes and quilted in winding, stylized, visible stitches. It quickly became a comfort, something that could hold Elrond's attention when he was ill or injured and confined to his bed. There seemed to constantly be something new to discover — here a sliver of fabric soft as lamb's wool, there a quill picked out in neat, tiny stitches. Tiny brass bells hung at three of the corners; the forth was adorned with a slender gold ring sewn on in blunt stitches of crimson thread.
And yet, somehow it never occurred to either of them to ask about it, not until they were half-grown and fast becoming too large to comfortably share a bed. It was Elros who gathered up the nerve to speak, after he had helped Maglor move a second bed into the room and begun to take his share of the blankets.
"You can keep using the quilt," he said to Elrond. "I know how much you like it." And then, turning to Maglor, he said, "Who made it, anyway?"
"Our sister-in-law," Maglor said after a moment of silence. "Caranthir's wife." And then, before either of them could ask, he added, "She stayed in Aman."
Caranthir, Elrond knew, was the brother who had built the keep, and one of the three who had fallen in the attack on Doriath. He wondered, sometimes, about those brothers. What had they been like? Did they have Maglor's gentleness or Maedhros' wry humor? Were they as tired-eyed and worn as Fëanor's remaining sons, at the end? But the topic was clearly closed, as Maglor folded down the last blanket, clapped Elros on the shoulder, and left the room.
And so the quilt stayed on Elrond's bed, always there to greet him when they returned to Amon Ereb each winter. And when Maedhros and Maglor informed them that they were being taken to King Gil-galad, after their protests had broken like thrown dishes against the wall of Maedhros' will, when they had given in and begun packing, Maglor had folded the quilt up and placed it in Elrond's bag, just on top of Maedhros' herbal. The corner with the ring rested face-up, and he traced it with his long, strong fingers.
"It's his wedding ring, isn't it," Elrond said. It wasn't really a question; he'd guessed as much years ago.
Maglor nodded. "It feels like I'm sending a piece of my brother away with you," he said with unusual candor.
"You are," Elrond said. "And I won't forget them. Or you."
The Sons of Fëanor were not good men, but neither were they wholly evil. Someone needed to remember that. Maedhros was grim and deadly and cooly logical, but he was also a patient teacher, prone to unexpected dry wit but never mocking his students. Maglor was equally deadly, but he had soothed their nightmares with his gentle voice and taught them all the lore he knew.
And the others…he'd learned about them, slowly. Celegorm, who had spent half his childhood sneaking his dog into his bedroom or running wild in the woods. Caranthir, who had liked numbers better than he liked most people but who had spent nearly every waking hour at Maedhros' bedside while he recovered from his torment on Thangorodrim. Curufin, whose own son had denounced him but who had spent a full day designing Himring with one hand tied behind his back, making certain that his brother could live there without hinderance. Amras, who had dragged his twin into trouble at every opportunity. And Amrod, who felt such kinship with the Green-Elves of Ossiriand that he had nearly abandoned Quenya entirely for Sindarin.
Someone needed to remember those things, after Maedhros and Maglor were gone.
"You know that we knew Gil-galad's father well," Maglor said, dragging Elrond's attention back to the present. "If they're anything alike… You'll be in good hands."
Elrond didn't answer, but wrapped his arms around Maglor in a last, unspoken goodbye.

Astarion's Name - Meaning - LOTR Elven languages (Quenya/Sindarin)
WILD ASTARION SPOILERS AHEAD ~Sometimes I use Google Translate~ Sorry for the horrible formatting, I'm still figuring out things!
About 20 years ago, instead of taking the train and going to my university and attending my classes, I hid in the local library in my small town to study Sindarin. It was the time of LOTR movie trilogy. Obviously.
It's a shame that Sindarin is much less complete than Quenya, which at the time had some full books (in Italian) dedicated to the grammar. Sindarin had nothing more than this single text file I was able to find (and even in English there wasn't much more), but the challenge was more compelling because it was wonderful to have to rack my brain to create words that Tolkien had never bothered or had reason/time to invent.
Quenya and Sindarin are and sound completely different.
The nice thing was to discuss whether you offered a good translation or whether there was some other better combination.
Quenya therefore remains Tolkien's most used and abused elven language which, I believe, gave the basis to many other elven languages in other settings such as D&D.
Having made this small and useless premise to say that I know how to navigate Tolkien's elven languages, I get to the point:
assuming and probably not granting that whoever came up with this name in Larian did so by studying Quenya or looking for precise grammatical rules rather than simply coming up with it because the sound was beautiful or deriving it from another name...
let's see the meaning a little, without being too technical.
ASTAR-ION
ASTAR
There are a few things called "astar" in Quenya.
1) the plural of "asta", that is a part of something else, almost always referred to a part of the year, a month. This wouldn't make any sense.
2) faith, loyalty (not belief) In Sindarin it's "astor", with the same meaning, pretty similar.
So "Faith"/"Loyalty" might be the right one.
-ION
About "ion" we must delve a little deeper and see both Quenya and Sindarin.
In Quenya "ion" means "from whom" or "of whom". It's a plural pronoun in genitive of "ye" - "who". We have also yondo, meaning "son" (the origin of this word is far more complex than this, so I'll keep it simple) but in some of Tolkien writings it means also "boy". Later in time, yondo as "son" would be replaced by anon.
This gives to -ion a patronymic use to say "son or descendant of". Like Russian ones (example: Boris Ivanovich, Boris son of Ivan) or Icelandic ones (Hallur Einarsson - Hallur son of Einar).
In Tolkien's works, for example, we have Isildurioni - "son/descendant of Isildur".
In Sindarin instead, "ion(n)" means "son" or "boy" as in Quenya, if used on its own.
But -ion as a suffix of a name, is THE Sindarin patronymic. No other use. The MASCULINE patronymic meaning "son (male child) of".
Gil-Galad is also called Ereinion (Scion of Kings) Inglorion (Son of Inglor)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So we could translate Astarion as the most simple meaning of the name, “Astarion - Son of the Faith”.
It would already be very appropriate.
Astarion, paradoxically, had a lot of faith in his heart. Faith also understood as hope.
The hope of one day freeing himself from Cazador's slavery and regaining his free will.
Faith in himself, not in Gods and heroes, that he prayed so much without anyone answering his prayers or coming to help him.
But what if, considering the two assumptions that now I write below, the meaning was more literal?
Assumption 1 - Astarion's tombstone says he lived only 39 years. Very few for an Elf. I still don't know if the dates are officially correct or something on Larian's part is incorrect, but let's leave it as it is.
Assumption 2 - In D&D 5e, elves appear to age like humans until they reach an "adult" appearance/maturity. Once physically adults, their life expectancy extends enormously and can reach 700-750 years. It's logical in fact that they do not remain vulnerable children for around 200 years, but spend most of their lives as adults.
Their concept of maturity, however, is completely on a voluntary basis: around 100/110 years of age, when an Elf feels ready, they declare that they're mature and take on an adult name, replacing the "child" one.
Between the reach of physical maturity and the social declaration of maturity, elves are considered whimsical, chaotic, prone to indulge in vices and desires, too emotional. They need to study, travel, explore, and accumulate wisdom and nurtore their personal knowledge and culture because this will "calm down" their mind. This is because of their Fey ancestry, their connection to the Feywild.
MY SMALL (CRACK) THEORY
What if “Astarion” was not “son of faith” but “son of Astar”, having not yet declared his independence as an adult Elf and "Astarion" represents his "child name"?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PERSONAL NOTES
Keep in mind that I share this more for fun than because I actually believe it. It's nice material for a few headcanons.
Honestly I don't think Larian put together Astarion's name from Quenya or Sindarin rather than the Elvish language from D&D, since there is one.
Personally I hope that in the future Larian will explain more about Astarion's age, because personally I don't really like the idea of him being under the Elven age of maturity. I would have preferred him at least about 150 years old, excluding the 200 spent as a slave.
It's true that Elves mature like humans, so 40 years are 40 years for everyone, so he IS physically 40 years old, he IS adult, he HAD his own important career. He just wasn't "socially adult" for the Elven culture.
But, speaking about age, would you like to know my take about the dates on Astarion's headstone?

I dont know if this is too vague but Headcanons on Freemind and Barmey that don't have a specific topic? Like Fears or random stuff they did as kids?
Hmm a little vague but I think i can work with it. Freemind's is way longer bc i have more specific headcanons for him
Barmey's misc. Headcanons
Used to be a pageant kid ages like 5-8, was ruthlessly mean to other kids.
Lived in a trailer in a shitty small town in arizona
has a southern accent but hides it bc he was made fun of for it by his best friend when he was like 11 and so he 'socially engineered' a new one, this is why in barney's mind his voice is so much more different than canon barney. he DOES still have it but doesn't use it, his voice is a lot deeper than you'd expect.
Is half Vietnamese and can speak vietnamese but hasn't had much traditional dishes bc his Mom hated cooking and his dad was white and half the time they just gave him stuff that was easy (microwavable/sandwiches/etc) so whenever his ba ngoai was over- which wasn't very often, he refused to eat her food bc he didn't wanna try new things
Because of his lack of trying new things Barmey cannot handle his spice that well. He LIKES spicy food but it hurts him bc he never built up a tolerance.
Barmey has BPD
Autistic + Adhd king
Barmey might seem like an idiot but he's very knowledgeable in certain things; Medical stuff, Geology and identifying rocks/gems, AC repairing, Riddles, Plant Care, and of course Planes
Lowkey psychic but only sometimes
Scared of Moths when they're flying
Lowkey claustrophobic, used to be worse with it though but has since gotten LESS claustrophobic
Decides if he likes and or hates someone purely off vibes alone, whether or not he has ever even talked to him
Has a very bad habit of letting people borrow money from him (Actually canon but i just think it's funny)
His favorite color is purple
He's a 'parkour king' (lie)
Worst liar you've ever seen.
If you dared him to eat a worm he would do it. No matter the age
As soon as a camera is recording he is horribly annoying bc he has to be in the spotlight at all times. kept this trait since childhood
Freemind Random Facts:
The name he almost went with instead of Gordon was Gilbert. In AU's where they all know eachother/live in the same area Freemind will go by Gil, or Freemind if they know they're dopplegangers. The name is inspired by the Gilbert Uranium labs bc he wants one
Scared of cockroaches but the fear manifests into blood lust rage. Would scream if one flew at him though, Is NOT scared of most other bugs But he DOES get jumpscared by spiders sometimes
Maladaptive day dreamer
Has NPD (unaware) and also has OCD and like 100 other things (unaware) Autistic + adhd king (unaware, listen... he's got no idea)
He is INCREDIBLY flexible because he has EDS. He is unaware of this
Has Tritanomaly (Milder form of Tritanopia, basically he's partially colorblind to blue's/greens) He has no idea of this though. This is partly why he wears so much red bc he can see it better
He used to be considered legally blind bc the glasses he can get from regular places do not correct his vision enough. HOWEVER Black Mesa tested out a special type of lens that is not currently available publicly that corrects his vision just enough that he can legally drive and is no longer legally blind. (this is so i dont have to explain why he can drive. we love fictional worlds where i can just make things up)
He's partially deaf in both ears, he is unaware of this because it's not too bad. 99% of this is because of the many times he's shot a gun in a small area with no protection
Is very bad at flirting with women. most of the girlfriends he's had started flirting with HIM first because he has no idea how to talk to girls. When he tries to flirt with girls he is incredibly awkward about it. Is "Better" At flirting with men when he knows he's bisexual. This is only sometimes true
he can force his body into very small locations that by all means he should not fit in. He tried to convince Barmey it's because physicists get super powers when they graduate. Barmey didn't believe this and knew Freemind was trying to trick him but sometimes he wonders...
Is very bad at showing affection. The best ways he knows how to show affection is by being in the same room as you or maybe handing you an item that you enjoy
Another way he accidentally shows affection or respect for someone is when he refuses to let you do something for him he'd normally be ok with anyone ever doing for him
Will convince himself that he could survive ANY scenario you put in front of him. even if it's literally impossible
Is a squirrel man (every place he's ever lived in he puts holes in the walls with intricate pass codes to hide things.) He claims he never forgets where the holes are (lie)
Despite it all he is incredibly soft with animals but especially cats. He feeds the strays. Once he's done being pissed at them he'd probably end up liking the houndeye's
Is an incredibly good chef but doesn't cook very often bc he doesn't want to.
Is unable to feel hungry most of the time, Because of this this moron could go a full week without eating and wouldn't even notice that he's hungry.
has opinions on things that have never happened and will never happen
Is allergic to most dish soap and hates doing the dishes bc he hates how it sounds and feels
Is able to walk and do entire puzzles and hold entire conversations without knowing he's doing anything the entire time because he's in his head so much (canon technically but this extends to normal life as well)
Is terrible at Riddles bc he over thinks them and thinks of them to literally

hi, i was just listening to soldier, poet, king and i couldn't help but realise how the well roles fit kil-young, yoon, and hwa-pyung--
oh wow, but you're not wrong alksdjfklasjdflkj
i immediately looked up some interpretations on the song, and this site nails it perfectly. i'm going to quote parts of it just to show you how right you are because i didn't expect my mind to be blown but it is.
The "soldier" represents the people who physically remove the victim from the abuser, and take away the tangible power they have over their victim. It's worth noting that "tear your city down" is first used with the soldier, and then repeated later, because even though the soldier "tore the city down", what it represents still stands in the victim's mind.
this could be used to describe all three of them, but the first one that stands out to me is hwa pyung. the one who understands on a molecular level that the possessed and the demons are not the same person. one who has been there and relates to it and physically seeks to tear that connection down. not to mention his end goal from the very beginning of the show is to do away with park il do and its minions.
that last little bit is hwa pyung as well because of the fact that he leaves an impression on everyone he saves. whether they recall their trauma or not, he's that hot-headed little pain in the ass with a heart of gold who just wants the chaos to stop and somehow managed to leave his mark on them for the better.
The "poet" represents people who help the victim get over or move past their fear of their abuser. Ridicule and dissection are the most powerful tools to combat fear with, so to make sure the victim understands that the abuser no longer holds, and realistically didn't hold, as much power over them as they claimed, "slaying them with their tongue", has more impact than anything physically tangible.
the 'poet' part itself immediately makes me think of yoon, for obvious reasons. 'his weapon is his word', i'm just saying. but this paragraph itself pares that down and separates what differentiates choi yoon from other priests.
here's the thing with yoon: he knew from the beginning that the man who attacked him in his bedroom wasn't his brother. he knew from the getgo that his brother wasn't evil or the devil or anything like that. even around all the ridicule at the orphanage, he knew something was wrong. he himself had been terrified, but he had eventually come to the realization that the only way to handle it was to confront his fears head-on and find out what had happened to his brother.
and then, imagine finding out your brother is dead and deciding to continue on despite that. not unlike hwa pyung, yoon decides to seek out park il do and stop him from ruining the lives of anyone else.
that last part of the above paragraph makes me think of how gentle he is to those he helps. he's initially very cold and guarded to hwa pyung and gil young, but he's soft and sweet to everyone he tries to exorcise. he's not just your typical, emotionally-compromised trauma victim--he genuinely wants to see an end to all the torment park il do induces upon everyone. and eventually, he aches to protect hwa pyung, who is directly in park il do's sights--it's enough that he's willing to give up his own life for it.
in essence, he spent so much of his life afraid and he wants to eliminate that same struggle for anyone else--hwa pyung and gil young included. his reasons for becoming a priest are as clear as they are ambiguous--he entered the priesthood so he could eventually find his brother, but it's debatable if he has any strong belief in what he's doing until the very end, when he realizes how he can weaponize his connection with god as an exorcist. even when he's at risk of being ousted from the priesthood, he sticks to his guns and does what he believes is right.
and his weapon really is his word.
The "ruler" is the most important: it's the more kind-hearted people who fill the void the abuser used to hold. Friends who look after people who left abusive families, new lovers after abusive exes, overall people who demonstrate to the victim how they're SUPPOSED to be treated. The line "smeared with oil like David's boy" likens the importance of this person in breaking the cycle of abuse to a king chosen by a prophet (and thus by God himself) to ensure the kingdom's health.
i read this one a couple of times, because i was both 100 percent certain this was gil young and also not certain at all at the same time. the reason i say that is because she is just as much the 'ruler' as she is the victim. but in the end, it makes so much sense.
gil young starts out not believing a damn word of what hwa pyung and choi yoon are saying. she initially comes off as a jaded cop with an attitude problem who would inevitably become a thorn in hwa pyung's side, but that interpretation lasts a solid two episodes, before it's made glaringly obvious just how human she is. she's a victim of the same trauma the other two experienced, but she handles it differently because she comes from an entirely different angle.
which is what makes her the 'ruler'. even when she's uncertain of what she believes, she eventually realizes that the goal is more important than her belief in the reality of what's happening. she becomes like glue, her own determination and genuine humanity helping to pull the three of them together. it's thanks to her determination and reckless abandon that she strengthens the three of them as a whole and helps to protect the 'kingdom'.
once she finally understands everything, it's her compassion for the others (and how she handles them in different ways because she knows what works for them and what doesn't--because they're family) that helps them to come to terms with their differences and take down park il do together. see also: her clinging to hwa pyung and begging him to come to his senses while he's throttling choi yoon in the last episode.
she's 'ruler' because she sees the big picture even when she's blind to what's going on. she has an understanding of the whole situation even when she doesn't believe in the abuser. she knows what's important and what isn't. she's aware that people are suffering and wants to do away with it regardless of how crazy it may be.
Then, after the three finally come together, the city is finally torn down, the old ruler deposed, and thus, the victim free to move on with their lives, which is celebrated with the upbeat second half with joyous chants of "O lay, o lord", which could either be seen as celebrations of the new ruler, or as vicious mockery of the old one (maybe both?), as the cycle is finally broken.
this hits me kind of hard after all the above interpretation. it hits me in the same way the last episode did. from the water scene all the way to the very last scene, this just feels like it hits the nail right on the head.
this show does a fantastic job of putting together the importance of all three of them in taking down a demon that had been tormenting a seaside village for ages. it wasn't until all three of them realized their importance to one another and how strong they were as a unit that they were able to track down and destroy park il do. and they all had their hard truths to swallow--the possibility of father yang being park il do (and even when that changed, yoon realizing he was still very connected to it), gil young realizing that destroying park il do doesn't bring her mother back or lessen the pain of losing her, hwa pyung discovering that park il do was his grandfather all along, and the grandpa he had known growing up for so many years was actually park il do--and they had each other amidst it.
the final scene of the show and the above interpretation feel like one and the same. that sense of relief that all is well again, the smiles on all of their faces, because their days of chasing demons are very likely over, and they still have each other. hell, they still did even when hwa pyung was thought dead.
according to the site this interpretation came from for the song, the band has voiced that the entire album is about abuse. it contains its religious connotations too, and that entire page is worth a read because it has multiple interpretations. the one that reminded me the most of the guest was the very first one, but if you're into interpreting song meanings like i am, i definitely encourage you to give the others a read.
anywho, this wasn't meant to be so long-winded, but here we are. thank you so much for this ask, it was so fun to give this song another listen and relate it to these three absolute angels.

⚠ ETERNALS SPOILERS ⚠
Though there's no need anymore but…
Alright…
So, the first thing we see in the movie is their powers, which I find awesome.
And the way they put on their suits? Yea!
Also, i love that Shang-Chi was in the M of MARVEL in the opening. Did you see him?
We also have a Dr. Strange mention when Dane asks Sersi if she's a wizard. I do wanna see him as a giraffe.
Dane, he's a baby and Sprite, she's so badass. Her powers, dude, how she multiplied herself AND Sersi? Woooow.
I mean, you can't tell Gemma was already in a MCU movie. Like, her characters are so freaking different and I live that.
And, imma tell you, my brother would yell “The King In The Noth!” every time Richard Madden was onscreen.
And i can't blame him, sorry.
I mean, Richard and Kit. Together. Again. We love them. We were both fangirling.
A mention of Thanos and the blip, people believing that the earthquake had something to do with that. Yeah, weird shit happens there wouldn't be surprised.
Well, Ikaris is, indeed, the most beautiful. And I don't accept other opinions.
Now, I don't know why everyone was so upset about that sex scene. There was nOTHING ONE COULD SEE! It wasn't explicit, it wasn't forced, and it wasn't even long!!!
Ajak choosing Sersi to replace her was something I should have seen coming. Why didn't I is a mystery.
Also, i already know she died. Except I did not think it would happen so early in the story.
Lemme just… MI ✨ TENOCHTITLAN ✨ HERMOSA, TE AMO. Though they didn't show you in your best of moments.
Sorry, I got distracted for a second.
For a sec I was like wtf is happening to Thena? But then we got the explanation of the Mahd' Wy'ry and it kind of made sense.
Knowing that somehow Druig was right but also knowing he couldn't interfere is like uuuuugh!!
But he did it anyway so… yeah.
Now, the DCEU is canon in the MCU. Batman and Alfred and freaking Clark Kent are more canon than Mephisto and Evan Peters' Quicksilver. I don't know how to feel about it.
Did anyone else feel bad about Gilgamesh's pie?):
Also, his friendship with Thena is beautiful. His way of bringing her back was, in my opinion, way better than Nat's lullaby to Hulk. Don't mind me, I don't like that pairing.
Wait, wait, wait. Gil fought with/alongside with Odin? Against Laufey? WTF? I need to know more.
So, there is no Olimpia, The World Forge is where the Eternals are MADE. *insert Scott Lang's voice* Their whole existence is a bunch of… bullshit?
Also, i was not expecting that deviant thing. Like, Arishem created them as well for the intelligent kind to appear. What - -?!
Sorry but Druig os asdfghjklñ, Kingo. He doesn't suck. 🤷🏻‍♀️
And Ikaris left Sersi because he died in the Red Wedding. Xd
No time for jokes? K, got it.
I love Karum, he's iconic.
And Thena is a baby. We must protect her at all cost.
Gil.): I can't believe he died too. Gotta admit that I sobbed. I didn't know you well but you'll always be remembered, my friend.
Abruptly changing the topic; I cAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE GOT MAD ABOUT A GAY COUPLE IN THE MOVIE!
Like, hello!!! It wasn't forced, it was casual, natural and just fucking normal. And I love how it wasn't a big deal that had to be explained in the film because it is NORMAL.
Ikaris mentions the vibranium, and we saw this in the trailers but I just love how Wakanda and its open doors to the world are relevant.
I'm living for that reference of King Arthur being in love with Thena. Man, we all are and if you're not, you're lying yo yourself.
Okay, we know why Ikaris left Sersi now.
And the fact that thanks to Thanos the emergence was delayed? Was he a good guy?
Not a serious question but it makes you think though.
Now I understand why Ikaris was described as “loyal”.
Because, as I said, I knew Ajak died and I knew it was Ikaris who killed her, but I did not expect it that way!
Now, and I'll be as calmed as possible, WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU, SPRITE?!?! I, TOO, WOULD LEAVE EVERYTHING BEHIND FOR RICHARD MADDEN BUT HOW COULD YOU BETRAY YOUR FAMILY?
Thena, sweetheart, you're a goddess and I love you, I'm so proud of you for getting rid of that deviant.
I don't know how to feel about Ikaris not being able to kill Sersi. Like, it's not actually a redemption arc, but the fact that he loved her so much he couldn't do it makes me like him.
Yeah, I said that. I understand why all of you hate him but I can't bring myself to do it. And I'm ready to physically fight whoever dares to say anything about him.
Now, Spite got everything she wanted, she's a human ajd I'm happy she got her happy ending.
Or the happiest she can be without Ikaris around.
And, WHY, ARISHEM, DID YOU HAVE TO INTERRUPR DANE WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TO TELL SERSI ABOUT THE BLACK KNIGHT??!?
We all knew he'd be there, but I got excited when Eros made his entrance. My inner fangirl screamed.
DUUUUDE, I saw the leaks but I STILL GOT EXCITED WHEN DANE IS ABOUT TO TAKE THE EBONY BLADE AND HE HEARS, WELL, BLADES' VOICE! AKSÑDLSKÑS. can't wait for that movie.

5 + celebrimbor or gil-galad? :o
Hello thank you for the ask! Although I was meant to answer every number on the post for the ask I just went with what you asked for and it got a uh little long.
Also my dumb ass read Maeglin instead of Gil-Galad for some reason so you get all three of them now lol
...
5. first headcanon that pops into my head
Gil-Galad finds the whole "who is your father" question terribly amusing, to a point where he purposefully doesn't even try to help to find an answer for the question anymore.
As a child he wanted to know, he craved for it more than anything else but neither Cirdan nor anyone else would tell him who his parents were.
They probably didn't know either since he was brought to them as a baby by a dying man in Nolofinwean blue, who only got to tell them to protect him before he died. Baby Ereinion was also dressed in Nolofinwean blue and that's where the assumption came from that he might be the son of Fingon or any other Nolofinwean relative but he could have been the son of that man as well for all they knew. They just assumed it was the former because that would make it more convenient for political reasons or something.
The rumour that he might be Orodreth's son was set into motion by Finarfin himself by the way who commented during a meeting that Gil-Galad's eyes look very much like his grandson's I.e. Orodreth's.
As an adult he very much doesn't care anymore if his father is really a king or just a servant or if his claim to the throne is rightful or not. Elrond has made very clear that he doesn't want to be king and Galadriel even said that he did his job better than the majority of his predecessors, so why change?
Besides watching scholars getting frustrated over this minor detail is hilarious to watch.
...
Maeglin has a really and I mean REALLY weird relationship with food... for normal elvish standards anyways.
Growing up in Nan Elmoth there was not a whole lot of stuff you could eat because most plants were either poisonous or would make you high immediately, the water was undrinkable unless it was boiled first and don't you dare pick any of the mushrooms. Ever.
So the things they could eat were few and rare. There were sometimes people from Doriath at the border who would trade food with Eol in exchange for his craft and while visiting the dwarves Maeglin got into contact with his first ever grand meal with meat and cheese and everything he could ever dream of and he probably ate himself sick more than once.
In Gondolin however meat and cheese and bread weren't a rarity, he could eat soft white bread with berry jam practically every day for breakfast and it would never have an end and he had a very hard time realising this. At first he would eat as much as he could in record time (which made Turgon believe that the boy had been starving for his entire life and this gave him some unfriendly flashbacks to the ice) and he would always super surprised and a but weirded out when people just handed him food on the streets. Like ma'am. That's a piece of the best cheese he has ever tasted and you just handed it to him! On the street! Don't... don't you need that for yourself?!
Food for Maeglin is something very special and very precious and the better and more tastier the food is the more special it is for him. If it weren't for his status and the dinners his uncle invites him to regularly he would probably live off of bread and water and be happy about that because the bread isn't stale and the water doesn't need to be cooked to be drinkable.

Celebrimbor doesn't remember Aman or anything related to Aman for that matter. He wasn't a baby or toddler anymore when they left, he was a young teenager who had already started his apprenticeship under his grandfather's tutelage and he knows that he should remember Aman, he should remember the light of the trees, his parent's home, his great-grandfather's stories and songs, the evenings they spend as a family in front of the fireplace but he doesn't he really doesn't.
It wouldn't bother him if the light in his eyes wasn't proof of the time he was born in, the life he had lived and forgotten, if there wasn't that unspoken question in the eyes of those he meets.
It is especially hard when he meets his mother's father, his maternal grandfather, again for the first time during the War of Wrath and just... Doesn't remember a single damn thing about him. And his mother is so excited to see her father again, she is crying tears of joy and is the happiest she has been in nearly 500 years but Celebrimbor, he just looks at this man, who according to his parents was the first one he walked towards on his own two legs, and feels a absolutely nothing. Although he knows, he knows he should. The same thing goes for Finarfin and whatever Noldorin relatives came with him.
Even after he is reborn those early memories doesn't return even though everything else does eventually. He tries his best to rebuild those relationships though and to find the love he held for those people at one point again.
