The older I get the more my ideal Godzilla story becomes less about Warriors with kaiju and more about the human characters as well as what kind of effect living with or studying these monsters has on them.
Or "Pokemon if it was a seinen" as my sick mind likes to think of it.

Gift for Godzilla day.
Shin Godzilla as a cosmic horror. He became a universe and watches humanity’s hopeless existence as he recreates and snuffs it over and over.
But WHY???
youtube
This very short fic is an observation of the world. Godzilla is a vessel and a perspective to tell it through.
Horror is a reflection. If you don’t like what you see, smashing the mirror won’t fix it. You have to figure out how to fix the actual issue or else it’ll continue on and on.
Fic text and ao3 link are under the cut.
Rating: T
They called him Godzilla.
In their terror and fear, they watched him evolve through burning misery. Them, and the radiation they dumped into the sea, sealed their perpetual split-atom fate. The blame lay eternally on them, their ignorance was no excuse. They would suffer.
He grew, and razed, and enveloped, and absorbed, and mutated, and expanded, and swallowed, and devoured, and digested their pitiful, purulent blue ball of a planet in his roiling maelstrom. He pushed onward, rending apart time, space and existence until only he remained, the single tenebrous echo of a wrathful species long ago destroyed.
Inside his void, he recreated it all. They never knew. Ignorant filth.
The minuscule fools thought the universe was over thirteen billion years old. And they were right from their perspective.
They were wrong about their macabre existence. Silly little things, really, they got lost in their collective occhiolism and never looked past it. What more should he expect from unthinking microbes?
Many called out to the deities they worshiped over the eons. Maybe those deities existed somewhere.
Godzilla waited to meet them, to fight them, and so far none challenged him. Perhaps they feared what he would become to devour them, too.
He manifested his physical form when their atomic age began, he walked across their tiny places of worship and he disrespectfully cut them to scorched atoms. Their screams were prayers he ignored as insignificant. Their sacred blessings counted for nothing.
After the first time, after the trains, and the choking ice, and the agony, he expanded.
He became.
Thirteen billion years held no meaning to him after he became. He was everything. Time, space, matter and energy. They did not know. They did not understand. They did not learn.
It all happened again inside him, inside the void he wore. A downward slope was all he saw, but they, the feeble ones, never could.
Godzilla’s inner sense alerted him of obstacles and incoming threats, and he obliterated them like paper. His lurid cosmic light split the darkness in purple rays. He grasped atoms and divided them until everything ceased to be.
Puny insects, their destruction meant nothing.
He began it again, seeking change, and disappointment blossomed as hypernovae in the airless, black emptiness. Gamma rays tore galaxies apart and life became impossible as hate consumed him. He destroyed it and started another, heedless of what he snuffed out.
They thought the stars were balls of gas contained in galaxies. Quasars blazed along his expanding outer edges as the voids between them swelled. Black holes pin balled through the emptiness. Cosmic radiation sustained him, each source glowing brighter than a billion suns.
The stars were his eyes, looking down in accusation at the blue globe no more significant than dust at the bottom of the sea. Spinning galaxies persecuted the masses of murderous ghouls who refused to recognize him as their all.
He showed them the quasars as a red glow in the crust of his flesh. Let them see the horror, hideousness and meaninglessness of their existence reflected on him. They were insects, pushing through their hopeless, useless lives, killing and maiming each other over religions, and food, and land, and money, and, sometimes, love. Love, twisted into degradation and disgust. Their rage, apathy and loneliness fed him. He spat radiation on them while they spat radiation on each other, a vomitous mass of wrath.
Often, Godzilla reappeared to remind them of who their true master was. He burped up blood in their streets and tore their architecture apart, smirking at the harmonies in their mournful wails.
Their bodies splattered like paste under his feet, his footprints left trails of unrecognizable red mush amid dusty bone powder. He transformed their towering cities into disarrayed rubble until dead flesh and construction materials looked the same.
They never understood, nor remembered, regardless of how many times he collapsed everything and started it anew. It ended the same, every time, with the trains, and the ice, and the silence.
No apologies came. They weren’t sorry. They should have been. Fools.
As the ice spread over him, he closed his sightless eyes under the watchful stars and went inward, where it all began once more. He recreated everything over thirteen billion years until the ice held him still.
And again, and again, and again, further and further inward. These weak, pitiful creatures were terrible learners. He waited for the deities they begged for, waited for an end to atoms themselves.
Such execrable creatures on their blue globe could never conceive of how long or how old anything truly was. They suffered, it was their destiny to suffer endlessly, because they refused to understand every breath they took was willed by him. Sometimes he stopped their breath to watch them die, just because he could. They didn’t matter to him.
He was lost, no one knew, there was no trace of his yearning. They created him, all the agony after falling on their shoulders.
Let them shout. Let them beg. Let them cry. It never reached his uncaring, cold ears.
Godzilla continued imagining inward, another vessel frozen. Perpetually growing, the void within a void, a sempiternal horror.
They did this to him, and they paid eternally. There would be no shaft of light in the darkness forever killing them. No. No salvation, no forgiveness, no relief, ever.
Their suffering was his.

GOT/Godzilla: “Dragons & Monsters” World Building.
So I'm once again talking about unwritten fics I've been revisiting. Since it’s unlikely I’ll be able to write these stories entirely, I thought I’d at least share posts about them.
This time, I’m writing about Dragons & Monsters - a Godzilla AU/Canon Divergence of Game of Thrones, from season six onwards (and splintering a little from season four). As you can guess, the idea here is “What happens when Westeros has an invasion of Kaiju/Titans on their hands, on top of the Army of the Dead ?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having already written a layout for the story (which you can read here), today I decided to revisit it for some world building. Here's what I've been writing down for this AU. To start things off, here's the Canon Divergences...y’know besides “Godzilla exists.”
Ygritte survives Castle Black, slowly reconnecting with Jon over the altered versions of seasons five and six; by the time Jon and Sansa retake Winterfell, Ygritte is pregnant with Jon’s child.  Margaery and Loras escape Kings Landing, and hide in the North, under the Stark’s protection.
Bran doesn't fully become the Three Eyed Raven; their “transfer” is interrupted, causing Bran to “flicker” back and forth. When Jon is made King of the North, he ends up sending Sansa and Margaery to Dragonstone on his behalf, with Margaery and Olenna helping bridge the Starks and Targaryens together.
As King, Jon makes controversial decisions regarding Wildlings, putting him at odds with the Northern Lords. Particularly, marrying Ygritte when she becomes pregnant to avoid having a bastard, thereby making Ygritte Queen Regent (for which, she’s a fish out of water). The main pairings include Sansaery, Jongritte and Breera. Daesansaery is teased throughout the latter half. Several events from season seven and eight remain the same, albeit with different contexts; Jon leading an expedition to capture a Wight; Sansa becoming Queen of the North; Jon abdicating his throne and settling in with the Wildlings. Kings Landing still burns.
That covers the human subplots. Now let's talk monsters!
– – – –
1. In this timeline, there were multiple specimens of Godzilla's species...key word, were. Thought by the people of Westeros and Essos as a type of sea dragon, two specimens were referred to as “Gojira” by the people of Valyria and Essos.
Tumblr media
When word reaches Westeros, the First Men and the Andals would Romanize the name “Godzilla”.
Story goes that the Doom of Valyria was brought about by Gojira; that Old Valyria’s practices in blood magic and other abominations brought “A great fire that burned the world and poisoned what was left”.
It’s believed the habitat of these sea dragons and “creatures from the World Beneath” was destroyed by Valyria’s practices. In turn, a scarred and vengeful Gojira would lay waste to Old Valyria, and nothing they’d throw could stop him. To many, the Doom was this divine judgement, punishing Valyria for its practices and hubris.
After the Doom, Gojira would continue to scourge Valyrian settlements across Essos and Westeros. During Aegon’s conquest, a Valyrian/Yi Ti “sorcerer” would create something (believed to be a spell or substance/chemical) that could kill Gojira.
Gojira as he slept in the sea beyond the wall, but the “sorcerer” would kill himself and destroy all information on his creation, believing it was a power too destructive to be kept in human hands. For centuries, Gojira’s body would rest at the bottom of the frozen sea, thought to be the last of his kind… Then about a century later, a second specimen would resurface. Christened as “Gojira/Godzilla II”, it was believed he is a surviving offspring of the one who doomed Valyria. Later he would just be called “Godzilla” to simplify things.
Tumblr media
This Godzilla is said to have visited Westeros at different points in the Dance of Dragons, and the years leading up to it.  Though the details are murky and were omitted from the history books (prequel bait). It was during the Dance that Godzilla's visits became more aggressive and destructive.
Many believed that like his supposed father, this Godzilla sought to destroy the last of the Valyrians, or punish one side for some atrocity or blasphemy. This could be chalked up to zealots projecting their views onto Godzilla, as it’s said he was usually aloof, but would attack armies and dragons on both sides without distinction. It’s said that both Aemond and Daemon Targaryen had this Ahab-like fixation on Godzilla, and both wanted to slay him as a show of power and pride. There are some who believed that Godzilla was a third party in “The Battle Above The God’s Eye”.
Whatever this Godzilla's reasons, he would depart to the sea following Rhaenrya's death, but would return a century or so later, when Cersei was plotting to destroy the Sept.
Tumblr media
Godzilla would make landfall in King's Landing the day of her intended trial, leaving destruction in his wake. In the confusion, Margaery and Loras Tyrell successfully escape Kings Landing (albeit, not unscathed) and are thought dead by the Kingdom. 3. There is also a third specimen of the Godzilla species, a Hatchling that is born and grows over D&M. The Hatchling is believed to be another surviving offspring of the “original” Gojira, born from a dormant egg near the Wall.
During the Battle of Castle Black, this egg would hatch, and the Hatchling would be drawn to the battle, only to burrow under/through the wall in a moment of panic. It's appearance ultimately cut the battle short, and is the reason Yigritte survives in this AU, but is captured with the rest of her people.
The Hatchling would be loose in the North for about a year, keeping to itself besides experimentally eating trees and livestock. The Hatchling was also reported as observing Stannis Baratheon’s camps from a distance, but would flee when approached.
Ramsay Snow would lead hunting parties for the Hatchling; while their weapons would do little serious harm to it, Ramsay got a kick in terrorizing the Hatchling. The Hatchling also witnessed at least two of Ramsay's women hunting “games”, which explains the following encounter.
When Sansa and Theon escape Ramsay, and meet Brienne and Pod, they encounter the Hatchling, who would devour Ramsay's dogs as they corner Sansa. At this point, the Hatchling can still be considered an infant, but has grown enough to defend itself and retaliate...and smart enough to recognize others.
The minute it heard Ramsay's hounds, and saw the men with Bolton's banners, chasing down Sansa and Theon ? It was on sight!
Tumblr media
Sansa and Theon, having heard Ramsay bragging about tormenting the Hatchling, end up empathizing with the creature, and would removes spears that hunting parties injured it with, and while the Hatchling fixates on Sansa, it departs without further incident.
The Hatchling, having grown a little bigger, would later appear during the Battle of the Bastards, seemingly fixated on Ramsay's army, attacking them head on and picking off stragglers after Ramsay is beaten. It is by this point, the adult Godzilla would sense the Hatchling's presence and would soon make landfall in King's Landing.
From there, the Hatchling continues wandering the North, but stays close to Winterfell. When Jon is named King, the subject of what to do about the Hatchling often comes up with the Northern lords. Though it usually takes a back seat to more “pressing” matters, such as Jon allowing Wildlings into the North, marrying and fathering a child with a Wildling, and Sansa (and Margaery) brokering with Daenerys.
The Hatchling itself would have passive encounters with the Stark's, mainly Sansa, who develops this near motherly affection for it. It would follow Sansa and Margaery's ships to Dragonstone, where it makes landfall (to everyone's absolute chagrin), and would follow Jon's wight hunt.
During it's ventures, the Hatchling would encounter the adult Godzilla, and while initially afraid, would soon bond and depart with the adult...That is until the Long Night.
3. Besides Godzilla, we got other monsters in the pantheon. Dragons & Monsters would also feature Anguirus, Baragon and Varan. Their nature and origins are unknown to the Westerosi people. Old Valryian iconography depicts them as being from “The World Beneath”.
Tumblr media
The more superstitious regard them as "Guardian Monsters" sent to punish and protect the world from mankind's hubris. These beliefs are not taken seriously in the present day. In Westeros, Baragon is nicknamed “The Rose Dragon”; his name being a portmanteau of “Dragon” and "Bara", the Japanese word for “Rose”.
Both Baragon and Varan are portrayed as animalistic: acting out of instinct, claiming territory and hunting prey as such. It just so happens they picked Westeros as their territory, while the Hatchling is their apparent prey.
Like the adult Godzilla, the Hatchling’s presence is what drove them to Westeros in the first place Anguirus is another story; thought to be the last of it's species, Anguirus sleeps beyond the wall, not too far off from the Three Eyed Raven’s cave.
During his time there, Brynden Rivers would use warging to keep Anguirus in a hibernation state, only awakening him when the Army of the Dead finally reached his cave (this timelines version of “The Door”). Despite Anguirus’ interference, Bran is awoken before Brynden could fully transfer his power, and Willis still ends up having to hold the door.
Tumblr media
When Anguirus is portrayed as only ever attacks others in defense. It's unclear if Anguirus is naturally docile or if Rivers inadvertently tamed him through warging, but when loose onto Westeros, he normally avoids human settlements.
Most destruction he causes is accidental. Angurius would have encounters with Godzilla, before “befriending” him (for lack of a better word). The two soon would attack Euron Greyjoy’s fleet, obliviously killing Euron himself. Of these monsters, Baragon and Varan are fighting fodder for the adult Godzilla, and to include more monster action amidst the Targaryen/Lannister war. But who is the top threat ? 4. When Jon leads an expedition to capture a "live" wight, they are followed by both the Hatchling, and in turn, the adult Godzilla. Despite/because of their interference, things go south pretty fast.
Tumblr media
But in the confusion, the frozen remains of the “original” Gojira are found in the sea After Daenerys' rescues the expedition, the Night King not only claims Viserion, but gets the bright idea to resurrect Gojira as a wight. Unlike other wights, it's implied a bit of Gojira's consciousness is in the passenger seat, and even more vengeful and angry than he was in life.
Sensing something is up, the now adolescent Hatchling returns to the North, along with Godzilla and Angurius. Unlike the more aloof Godzilla, the Hatchling still has his attachment to humans (especially Sansa), while Godzilla and Angurius are just trying to clean up this mess. Though Godzilla is also protecting the Hatchling.
During this version of “The Long Night”, the three monsters step in and quickly turn the tides against the Army of the Dead, even forcing the Night King back down... or so they thought. In truth, the Night King was calling upon the Wight!Gojira, which overpowers the exhausted Godzilla and Angirus, and drives off the Hatchling.
Tumblr media
The survivors of the battle are forced to flee the North, eventually reaching Kings Landing. Throughout, the Wight!Gojira would lay waste to Westeros, with the Night King and his army in tow. During one encounter, the Wight would kill Angiurus at sea, and would soon reach King's Landing after Daenerys, the Starks and their allies are forced to conquer it.
The climax of D&M would be a battle with the dead, with non combatants trying to flee by boat. The adult Godzilla and the Hatchling would turn up and face Wight!Gojira, who would mortally wound the adult, but would soon be destroyed by an empowered Hatchling through three nuclear pulses.
With both the Night King and Wight!Gojira slain, King's Landing is ultimately destroyed, and the survivors barely manage to escape the worst of it.
While the adult Godzilla dies, the Hatchling would depart to the sea after giving his regards to his mother, Sansa the survivors. A time skip would reveal that the Hatchling would eventually become the Godzilla of a modern seeming era.
5. Even if they don't appear in this story, here's other monsters I had in mind. There is an island off Yi-Ti which tells of a demigoddess/nature spirit, which is depicted through butterfly and moth iconography.
Tumblr media
Some describe encounters of giant spider or mantis-like creatures, reported to reach the height of small castles. There are others that tell of beetle-like creatures that rival the heights of the ”sea dragons”. Some are known to fly, others to crawl.
No one presently believes these creatures exist; when the locals are asked where these beings are, the answer is said to be “Sleeping, waiting to be born.”
There is also an island, resting between Essos and Sothyros. The island is surrounded by a perpetual fog and storm. Two known voyages were known to visit the Island and live to tell about it; describing the island's largest mountain, carved in the shape of a skull, not by the people living there, but “the apes” whose size range from “large houses to small castles”.
Besides the apes, the islanders are said to live under all sorts of creatures and megafauna; notably including krakens; horse-sized bugs and worrms; “lizard snakes”; and “lesser dragons”.
These “Lesser dragons” refer to creatures that died out before mankind was born, though it's believed dragons are their living descendants. Multiple species are said to have existed, and their bones are sometimes found across the known world. But this “Skull Island” is said to have living specimens.
Yeah...they're dinosaurs.
Other monsters I considered include Gigan, despite/because of how out of place he'd be in this setting. And yes, Gigan would 100% remain an alien cyborg, just to embrace the weird. Biollante was also considered in connection to Margaery and House Tyrell...but I scrapped that idea. Bagan is also jokingly mentioned. For those who don't know, Bagan was a monster with multiple planned but scrapped appearances in Godzilla's Heisei era. While there are variations in his concepts, Bagan's “canon” backstory describes him as a “demonic dragon god”.
Anyways, the joke is that Bagan apparently appeared in Westeros during Rhaenerya's lifetime, but nothing was written of this encounter beyond that passing mention. 6. And now, we have Ghidorah.
Tumblr media
I wanted to feature this eldritch dragon in Dragons & Monsters itself, but couldn’t find a spot for him beyond an epilogue cameo. Towards the end, Bran has a flash-forward into the far future; not only revealing the Hatchling becomes the Godzilla of a modern age, but he would be facing down a three–headed dragon in a burning city.
This vision of the future is brought about when Bran and Meera glimpse what appears to be a golden shooting star landing far off the horizon, indicating that Westeros will have Ghidorah on their hands in the near future.
Tumblr media
Besides the sequel hook, here’s some of what I have in mind for this AU’s Ghidorah. Its unclear whether Ghidorah is just now coming to this world, or if he did in the past, but implied that Old Valyria at least knew of him or predicted him. The three headed dragon sigil of House Targaryen was not a coincidence. If you dig deep enough you’ll find a fifteenth god in the Valyrian pantheon; the god of the void and lord of the abyss. There’s some who believe that Balerion, the god of death, may be an appropriation of Ghidorah. Others believe Ghidorah was their top god.
Anyone who heard of Ghidorah may see him as this Satan or Demiurge-like figure, but to Old Valyria, he was a being to live up to. Valyria was ultimately made in Ghidorah’s image, especially their practices in blood magic. It is said the first dragons were born from the blood of this god, and that same blood is what gave the Valyrians their power. And it flows in the beings of every Targaryen and their descendants.
And it was through this, the values of Old Valyria were instilled; conquest, destruction to those they can’t rule, and the belief that they were closer to the gods. The “purer” the Valyrian Blood, the closer they are to Ghidorah. Supposedly, there was a time where Ghidorah was called upon. It was said the Valyrians called upon a great power from the stars; that same power that devastated the World Below, killing many of its creatures, and left Gojira scared and vengeful. The sole illustration of this event depicts a fiery “storm cloud” engulfing the land.
Tumblr media
The cloud is curiously shaped like a mushroom. The “lighting” from this cloud resembles three golden-horned serpents. Following the Doom, many doubted the actual existence of Ghidorah, preferring to see him as a symbol of Valyria’s pride and power, or their hubris to the non believers. Whether you believe Ghidorah is a genuine deity or no, the fact remains that a three headed golden dragon came from the stars, will be paying Westeros a visit in the near future, and will apparently live well into a modern era….

Yandere Godzilla Headcanon
Tumblr media
(This is in general, so no specific version of Godzilla)
Godzilla, as a yandere, would be completely different from Mothra. Now I do see every version of Godzilla acting almost the same as a yandere, but with slight differences. I might do that later, at some point.
Godzilla, as a yandere, would be possessive, controlling, manipulative, obsessive, and jealous.
Godzilla being possessive would mean you couldn’t see anyone beside him—well, maybe his kid, depending on the version. You wouldn’t be allowed to be near anyone besides him; the atomic kaiju kind of sees you as his property, but he does truly care for you, even though he doesn’t really show it most of the time. He's controlling; he wouldn’t allow you to do much of anything without him present. Want to go swimming? Alright, give him a minute. Want to go hang out? No, he doesn’t like them. The King would also try manipulating you into thinking you’re all he needs and no one else, and maybe even ruining other kaiju reputations if it meant proving to you they were bad or not trustworthy. He’s obviously obsessed with you; the thought of some kaiju taking you away from him really grinds his gears. Godzilla has to be near you all the time; otherwise, he goes kind of crazy and becomes really aggressive. The King of the Monsters is really jealous, like so jealous you can’t look at another kaiju of the opposite or same gender without him becoming incredibly jealous. You can only look at him and no one else; it’s also the same if another Kaiju starts looking at you. Oh boy, that’s a good way to get Godzilla’s attention. Only he can look at his queen, and no one else can.
But with how he’s with you, he’ll treat you like a precious flower; he’ll hold you close and cuddle you. With the added benefit of him allowing you to call him Gojira. He may sometimes get aggressive, but he truly loves his precise queen.

Shimo's Story
Godzilla X Kong from Shimo's POV
I am alone in the pit. My world is tiny, three walls of rock and one of lava. The heat pains me. I was born to wander the fields of ice and bask in the freezing air and instead I am trapped here in the heat and stone. I cannot leave. The lava would wound, maybe kill me, but I cannot even reach it. The harness around my neck, crafted from the spinal cords of titans I have forgotten, binds me, giving me only enough room to lie down. I do not know how long I have been here. I have slept for many millennia. It is better that way. When I am awake the boredom and continent claws at my mind. Sometimes I claw at my own scales in despair. Other times I pull at my harness, even though I cannot escape it. So I sleep and do not know how long I have been here. But I know why.
The tyrant ape stole my prime crystal. Plucked it from my head while I was asleep. While he holds it, I cannot resist him. He forced me to slaughter many titans and tiny ones. I do not like violence. All titans must fight to live, but that was no battle for survival. It was senseless murder. And when the tyrant and his apes were imprisoned by the lord of titans, he locked me in the pit, where I have been ever since.
The lava is blocked and I can see beyond my pit. The tyrant does this sometimes. Uses me to scare his subjects, or kill them. I see another ape, a challenger to the tyrant. The tyrant orders me to kill this challenger. I do not want to. Could the challenger win? Would he free me?
The tyrant uses the crystal and my world turns to pain. Resisting the crystal is wrong. Every nerve fiber in my body screams at me to obey and when I do not, they burn. I cannot take the pain, so I obey. I open my mouth and winter itself flows from my jaws. I was born of the cold and the cold is within me. I can command it to come forth and turn the world to winter. Now I use it on the challenger. He is hurt and tries to flee. Another ape helps him escape. The tyrant’s prince. The tyrant is angry but I do not see what happens next. The lava flows again and my world becomes tiny again.
The lava parts again and the tyrant’s subjects remove the harness from my neck. I want to run away and be free again. I want to attack the tyrant, freeze him from the inside out. But while he holds the crystal I will never be free. He says we are going to war. The same war he fought before I was confined to the pit. Maybe he will die this time. Maybe I will.
The tyrant rides on my back as we march to a vortex. His touch is repulsive. My scales feel like they wish to rot away. I hardly notice. I am out of the pit and back in the below world. I can feel the wind on my scales, smell the pollen of countless plants, gaze upon the ground above. I could barely remember what it was like to be out of the pit, but now the memories come rushing back. They are cruel memories. They remind me that I am not free.
We are at the vortex. It is next to a city of tiny ones. I can tell they are afraid of us. The tiny ones revered titans when I was free. We have enemies here. The lord of the titans, the queen, and the challenger and prince. I have to fight, even though I do not want to. The pain of disobeying is worse than the wounds of battle.
The tiny ones did something with their pyramids. We can all fly now. I have never flown before and don’t know what to make of it. I have no time to think about it. The lord of titans wants my head and I have no choice but to fight him. We fall and the tyrant orders me to enter the vortex.
The tyrant and I are on the surface now. I came here once and brought winter to the world. The tyrant does not let me look at the sky. He tells me to freeze it, to bring winter again. The pain makes me obey. We are next to another tiny one city. Bigger than the one below. The tyrant orders me to freeze it. I kill so many tiny ones.
The lord of titans and the challenger are here now. I am charged with facing the lord. Our kinds are similar, but mine were of the ice and snow and his were of the sea. We crash through the tiny ones’ building. I freeze him, but he breaks my ice with atomic fire. This fight will be a hard one and I do not know if I can win. I do not know if I want to.
The tyrant’s whip is broken and the crystal lies on the ground! If only I could reach it, reclaim myself. But the tyrant’s last orders still echo in my nerves and the lord of titans will not relent in his attack. Do I dare to hope? It has been so long I fear I have forgotten how. And if I hope and the tyrant reclaims the crystal what will I do? Is it worth hoping if it turns to despair later?
The prince has come to the surface, carrying the challenger's weapon. He brings it down on the prime crystal and it is destroyed. I am free! I can think for myself again, act on my own again! Beneath my joy, there is anger. The tyrant must pay for what he did to me. The challenger lifts the tyrant up and I unleash winter onto him. He freezes, veins bursting and bones breaking, and the challenger crushes him to dust and gore. I should roar in triumph, but all I feel is relief. It is over, my tormenter is dead and I am free.
I now feel gratitude. It is thanks to the challenger that I am free. He declares that he will free the other apes just as he and the prince freed me. I have been watching the challenger. He is wise and kind. I am honored to give him my allegiance. I bow to my new king, to King Kong. Together we will lead the apes out of their prison and into a new future. Someday soon I will once again wander the ice fields and bask in the freezing air. My world is no longer tiny.

G-Clone Project: Gojera/Godzerra (April Fools)
Subject # 4: Humanoid Kaiju/G-Cell endowed atomic mutant/ "Kaiju Girl"
Tumblr media
HEIGHT: 80 Meters
LENGTH: 180 Meters
MASS: 50,000 Metric Tons
Based on a project suggestion by roboticist Dr. Hideo Shida, creator of the 'RoboMusume' anti-Kaiju weapon during his last days before his passing. In the aftermath of Godzilla's (II) rampage throughout Tokyo, not only the city was doused in radiation but the Monster King left behind samples of its body. "G-Cells", christened by Dr. Genichiro Shiragami, are a rare and dangerous commodity sought after by multiple governments, organizations, and special interest groups all over the world. After witnessing footage of Godzilla's battles against other Kaiju such as Biollante, Ghidorah, and Spacegodzilla; Shida suggested a Kaiju-sized humanoid made from bioengineering. The UNGCC Council was hesitant, remembering the doctor's unorthodox "Bride of Godzilla" mech, how it violated Japan's anti-nuclear weapons policy, and the near-disaster that would've destabilized both the Earth and Hollow Earth if it weren't for RoboMusume's peculiar self-sacrifice. To bring legitimacy to his idea, Shida explained that the subject would have the might and power of Godzilla, but with the mind of a human being.
Miki Segusa spoke up about her concerns over this idea since she advocated for Godzilla to be left in peace ever since he adopted a juvenile Godzillasaurus and the plans of Mechagodzilla, MOGUERA, and Project T failed. Not to mention this was three months after Spacegodzilla's attempted conquest of Earth, a Kaiju-sized human being made those of the G-Countermeasures council uneasy. But Shida replied the possibility of this supposed soldier being an ideal improvement over Mechagodzilla as a defender of Japan and a deterrent to Godzilla. Days after this meeting, select bioengineering scientists began with the 'G-Cell Project', moving their resources to France.
By 1996, Shida had passed away due to old age, and it seemed UNGCC was on the verge of pulling the project's funding. That was until the Baas Island explosion and Godzilla's emergence as "Burning Godzilla", a nuclear meltdown that would've destroyed the world. The G-Cell team found themselves free of oversight during the crisis, as the appearance of Destoroyah heightened the danger. But, the crisis has passed with Destoroyah's rampage stopped and G-Force minimizing the damage as Godzilla perished. But, his leftover radiation transferred to the supposedly deceased Godzilla Junior revitalizing him and maturing him into a new Godzilla (III). With the future uncertain, a breakthrough was made with the G-Cells, the project was renamed the 'G-Clone Project'.
The New Godzilla lacked its father's hostility to humans but, the UNGCC wasn't going to take any chances, as they heard reports of another Godzilla battling an extraterrestrial known as the 'Gryphon' in the United States, unaware that it was what Monarch classified as 'Titanus Gojira'. Then, the monster known as 'Zilla' escaped its holding cell in France and rampaged in 1998, causing complications for every government involved. Many questions surrounded the Kaiju's appearance, as the French contingent of the project had gone rogue. Fearing that their pet project, 'Gojera', would be discovered, they ejected a large egg onto an island that had leftover nuclear radiation from atomic bomb tests in the 1950s. The egg laid dormant for months, until it hatched, revealing an abnormally large infant girl...with dorsal spines eerily similar to Godzilla. The infant fed on the radiation, having an accelerant growth similar to Godzilla (III) until she reached maturity in 2003.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, like Zilla, Gojera, or as Westerners would refer to Subject #4 as 'Godzerra', escaped containment and made landfall upon the coast of Japan, much to the surprise of everyone involved in the battle and witnessed it. Though she slightly resembled a human being, she had the ferocity and aggressive demeanor of any Godzilla, what made it worse was the young woman's genuine malice and enjoyment of the destruction she wrought. It was evident that communication with Godzerra would be unwise, as she seemed to revel in violence. Luckily, the UNGCC had created another anti-Godzilla weapon, launching Kiryu against the Kaiju Girl. Though it turned the tides in humanity's favor, it was clear that something about the mech set her off. As things seemed to be in G-Force's favor, Godzerra bellowed a defiant roar, making Kiryu pause. Seeing the mech's eyes turn from orange to red, she looked down at the gathered soldiers with an eerie smile, as if she knew what would happen next and turned back to the sea.
Tumblr media
"Reap what you sow."
-A scientist translated from the Shobijin when Godzerra 'spoke'.
In horrifying reality, Kiryu was built around the skeleton of the 1954 Godzilla that attacked Japan and was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer. Some blamed a technical malfunction, others claimed that the Kaiju Girl's roar influenced the mech, and the Shobijin claimed that the spirit of Godzilla (I) lived within the bones. Overall, the latest anti-Godzilla weapon ironically caused more harm than Godzerra. After Kiryu ran out of power and was escorted back to G-Force, the UNGCC faced intense backlash internationally. Dr. Ishiro Serizawa of Monarch demanded answers, for both the explanation revolving around Kiryu's existence and Godzerra, the latter being verily outside of the Natural Order Monarch had studied for years. Many bioengineer scientists and researchers were questioned, as they could face jail time. Unfortunately, Godzerra resurfaced in Tokyo Bay, demolishing G-Force forces. As the Kaiju Girl marched closer and closer to the city center, the UNGCC Council and the Prime Minister had no choice but to launch Kiryu, believing whatever caused its malfunction was fixed.
The latest Mechagodzilla encountered the Kaiju Girl, resulting in an intense battle, appearing equally matched. Despite Godzerra's mixture of brute strength and human-like strategy, Kiryu gained the upper hand, wounding the atomic mutant with the Absolute Zero Cannon. While it failed to kill Godzerra, Kiryu did expel her, meaning humanity finally had a sure means of fighting back against any Kaiju. But, one year after the battle, Mothra returned to Earth, the Shobijin warning that the first Godzilla's bones must return to the sea for it was blasphemous to use them as a weapon. Takaaki Aso, former G-Force commander and the Prime Minister at the time, stated that too many resources had been sunk to scrap the project now. But, the Shobijin ensured that Mothra would defeat the atomic clone, despite Aso's doubts and remembering the 1992 battle against Godzilla (II) that claimed Battra's life. Soon, Godzerra returned to Tokyo, heading for Kiryu's hangar but was intercepted by Mothra. But, due to her time in space, the divine moth had reached old age; making her outmatched against the Kaiju Girl.
Unwilling to let Mothra fight alone, the G-Countermeasures Council ordered Kiryu's deployment; while Miki Segusa used her telepathy to contact Godzilla (III), fearing the situation's escalation. Despite being outnumbered, Godzerra proved to be a match for both the mech and the moth. Until Godzilla's arrival, who was curious about this being before engaging in combat. Despite the Monster King's strength and power, the Kaiju Girl lived up to G-Clone's original aspiration of creating a being to best their primary foe. Before she would kill the King of The Monsters, Mothra used the last of her strength to take the Atomic Breath for Junior, being set ablaze and exploding. Enraged at his 'sister's' callous reaction to the Guardian Kaiju's death, the saurian gained a second wind and the battle turned in his favor.
As the battle dragged on due to Godzilla's determination to avenge Mothra, G-Force units with Kiryu Mechanic Yoshito Chujo charged into the battlefield to repair the mech. With repairs completed, the Mechagodzilla joined Junior in the fight, turning an even battle to the favor of Earth's Defenders. But, Godzerra, revealing with cruelty, unleashed her own Atomic Pulse, unleashing Spiral Blasts upon Godzilla. Hearing the current Monster King's pained cries, the first King of the Monsters' spirit awakened within Kiryu, blasting the Kaiju Girl away. Unwilling to see such carnage between members of his species, despite the mutant's unnatural origins, Kiryu grabbed Godzerra and flew out to sea, sinking the two monsters in the Japan Trench.
The battle was finished but was declared a hollow, pyrrhic victory, with Tokyo in ruins once more, Mothra dead and Godzilla barely returning to the sea before collapsing due to his injuries, going into a healing hibernation. Finally seeing his grudge against Godzilla as folly, Aso ordered the Kiryu project to be officially scrapped and funding to G-Force cut in half. Since then, the UNGCC and G-Force are now a shadow of their glory days in the '90s and 2000s. However, the G-Clone Project secretly holds the DNA of multiple monsters, including Godzilla, to create more clones in case other Kaiju emerge. As for Godzerra, it took years for her to break Kiryu's grip, re-emerging in 2016, months after the rampage of 'Shin'. Godzerra had taken up residence on the mysterious 'Monster Island', isolating herself from the other Kaiju. Declaring the rather empty title of 'Queen of the Mutants'.

“King of the Monsters. Wrath of God. God Incarnate. Godzilla knows many titles, and many more names. To me, it will always be the dragon my family has been charged with. It’s been seven decades since Godzilla 01 (‘Gojira’) first appeared and attacked Japan. Four since Godzilla 02 emerged and followed suit, and just over two since it became enraged for unknown reasons, then sealed away by SAINT in Greenland. Throughout all of it, my family has been there to observe, study, and attempt combat them. While its appearance has always marked times of catastrophe, if not for Godzilla, our family name would remain in obscurity. KAMI would have never come to be. While I feel no sense of gratitude for the beasts that terrorized my home, I accept my part in this struggle. When 02 reawakens--and it will if the UN continues to ignore the agency’s warnings about the state of Area G thanks to climate change, never mind the ongoing budget cuts--I will be there to face it in the field to unlock its mysteries. Just as my grand-father, my grandparents, and my parents have before me. That is my responsibility as a Yamane. I will see you again soon, O ‘King of Destruction.’"
- Tomoko Yamane, chief behavioural specialist with KAMI
This literal god-tier design is brought to you by the esteemed @iamthekaijuking! He helped me develop everything from the inner workings to aesthetics to our take on the Big G. I could go on, but I’ll leave that for him to talk about in his reblog. Remember to check out his blog, and give him a commission if you got some cash lying around!
We can’t wait to show you what this King of the Monsters is capable of, where he’ll go, and even what he thinks of the humans who’ll be working alongside him!
(And a monster-sized shout-out to @luna-tiel for helping me with the lore blurb as well!)

Unwritten fic update: ATLA + Godzilla: “The Ancient World”
So I've been looking over unwritten fanfic I shelved, and one I often revisit is called The Ancient World, which is the result of me wanting to do a crossover adapting Godzilla and other monsters into the world of ATLA and LOK.
Tumblr media
I wrote an older post on The Ancient World back in December, but since then I often revisited the story. Even wrote a draft for the first chapter. The original post is here.
I also had Korra based sequel, Age of Rebirth, which evolved into a crossover with the Star Wars sequel trilogy. I wrote a post for it, but I'm giving it a rewrite since the original post was over 8000 words.
It's not even the only Godzilla crossover I had in mind; I wrote ideas down for one with The 100, and another for Game of Thrones. Both of which The Ancient World took cues from.
Anyways, since I've been doing some revising and revisiting of The Ancient World, I thought I'd give it a follow up post based on these revisions. Much of the story and character arcs remain the same, but here it's expanded by more worldbuilding, character arcs, and a few OC's I had in mind.
----
Summary: Taking place a few years after Avatar The Last Airbender. The United Republic began international mining operations in the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes, as society progresses with early technological advancements. When they dug too deep, they uncovered the remains of an ancient civilization lost to time, and regarded as myth. When dug deeper, they awaken Titans - beasts of these myths, that brought “The Ancient World” to an end, and may do the same to the current one.
Tumblr media
One such the Titan known as “Godzilla” decimates the Water Tribes and makes his way to and through the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdoms. Another is a weakened and wounded dragon fleeing the wrath of Godzilla. Quickly showing its own spiritual power, communicating with humanity, introducing itself as Ghidorah, a claiming to be "guardian" sent to protect the world from Godzilla. Too weak to do much of anything (save for destroying a vast cabbage field), Ghidorah is seen as harmless by the general populations, who rally behind him as the only one who can stop Godzilla.
The leaders of the Water, Fire and Earth Kingdoms elect to throw their armies to face Godzilla until such a time Ghidorah’s power is restored. While Aang, his Team  and a small band of Kyoshi warriors, seek out the secrets of these monsters and try to find the way to put a stop to them with as little bloodshed as possible, Zuko is pushed by the other leaders, prioritizing the threat of Godzilla and a militant approach to deal with them. During an initial encounter with Azula and her followers out at sea, Godzilla attacks the expedition, getting them stranded on "The Uncharted Lands".
Between Ghidorah’s growing power, and the hero’s isolation, people on both sides find themselves going down the rabbit hole, learning of the Ancient World, and the monsters that brought it to an end in a bid to save their current one.
----
First off, let’s get this story’s main ships out of the way; Kataang, Maiko and Tyzula.
Out of the Godzilla timelines, it's mainly based off the Monsterverse, but there's nods to other and continuities.
1. "What is the Ancient World and what is the lore behind it ?"
If you haven’t guessed by the title, the twist would have been the titular “Ancient World” was our Earth. That and the recovery and reverse engineering of old technology explains the advancements seen in Legend of Korra. The “Ancient World” fell to an apocalyptic event known as “The Final Wars”, which would would have occurred a century or two before Wan’s time as civilization collapsed, and excessive radiation and mutation caused the animal hybrids.
Tumblr media
The ATLA world would be revealed as the result of ten thousand years of rapid climate and geographic change, with the age of science giving way to the age of mysticism; some Titans show a supernatural and spiritual aspect to them, such as Mothra and Ghidorah. The Lion Turtles would be an example of such Titans. Mothra for example, would have the ability to enhance one's power.
What is currently known as “The Water Tribes” was once Alaska, and Northern Canada. “The Fire Nation”, was once Eastern Asia and Eastern Europe. “The Earth Kingdom”, was once South Asia.
The "Uncharted Lands" refer to any country/continent/region unexplored on ATLA/LOK’s map.  For example, the lands explored in this story were once the province of Ontario and New York state.
The Water Tribes were once Alaska, Greenland, and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut, and the North-West Territories.
The Fire Kingdom was once Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, North China, Far East Russia, South and Central Russia, and the Ukraine.
The Earth Kingdoms consist of India, Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan, South China, Tibet, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam.
As people and civilizations of these lands ? Think the Grounder's from The 100, or the tribes in Horizon Zero Dawn, and you’ll know what I'm going for. This is something carried over from Welcome to The New Age, when I wanted to crossover with The 100. They have a Clan system similar to The 100, and one of the OC's is called "The Commander", who is Lexa in all but name.
Tumblr media
Despite mysticism and spirituality seeping back into the world after "The Final Wars",  these people live more mundane and down to Earth lives. Bending isn't prominent among these people. They know of Bending, but they generally lack it themselves, usually reacting with curiosity and wonder when they see it.
While the Ancient World’s are more obscure "myths" to the Three Known Nations, they're a lot less murky to the Uncharted Lands and their people; in fact they still find bits and pieces of "old world technology", which they try to recreate. As such, they have more knowledge of the Ancient World, and a more objective version of the Final Wars in their mythology. To the Three Nations, "Final Wars" myths vary; to the Uncharted Lands, there are a few variations but the constant was Godzilla was usually the "hero", while Ghidorah was always the villain.
As for this stories OC’s ? There's the Commander (again, a Lexa expy), though she isn't that prominent or involved. When her people first uncover Aang and Azula's parties, she has them brought before her to explain themselves. Discovering their Bending, she offers both parties places to stay as guests; not of her "palace" of course, but at a massive ranch that serves as her "palace's" main food providers.
The ranch itself is owned by a powerful family, that all but runs a community of servants. There's really not much to go about with them; narratively, they have no purpose except for giving the protags a place to stay, as well as an exploration of their culture. Though Aang and co (including Azula’s party) do sometimes end up doing a few chores for them during their stay, which includes helping taking care of a servant's baby, while said baby's mother is sick.
The only “major” OC would be Shirio, a minor Fire Nation noble, and foil to Kei Lo from Smoke and Shadow, but we’ll cover him in character arcs.
2. Monster and Human interactions
Another thing I came up with was “Channeling”, in which a person (usually a bender) can soul-bond with a Titan through meditation.  A Titan can be telepathically/empathetically linked to a human, some verbally communicating through them. This is something taken from Toho, with the Heisei character Miki Saegusa having a psychic link to Godzilla; and the alien possession from Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster.
For example, Katara accidentally “Channels” Godzilla at a few points, starting when she and Aang meditate together. It is through this, the protagonists get more of an understanding of Godzilla, vice versa as he interacts with them through Katara. It's shown that Godzilla has a marginal understanding of human emotion, but human culture and etiquette are so beneath him, they leave him utterly baffled. His attempts to comprehend customs - be it dancing at a wedding ceremony, or sitting down to have some tea - are often Played For Laughs.
Katara and Godzilla's "bond" is partially based off of Miki Saegusa. At first you'd think that there'd be a "Brooding Boy/Monster Bonds with a Gentle Girl" but no; Godzilla is surprised (and amused) to see that, caring as she is, Katara will choke a bitch. Between the two, Aang's the more "gentle".
Tumblr media
But strong enough Titans don’t need consent to “bond” others. For example, Ghidorah, nearly crippled for two thirds of the story, relies on “channeling” to beg for human assistance. He can’t do much of anything beyond destroying a cabbage field where he goes to rest. Ghidorah has enough understanding of human emotions, relationships, and how they follow leaders, that he seeks out one who he can speak through. Ghidorah's first attempt was to “bond” with Zuko, but fails to make a link.
His second option was to forcibly bond with the more “vulnerable” Mai speaking through her to manipulate Zuko, and turn the masses against Godzilla, propping himself up as a “Guardian Monster”. Ghidorah claims that other “Guardians” are asleep but will answer to his call. The Guardian Monsters is something taken from GMK (where Ghidorah was the hero). The story Ghidorah tells through Mai is pretty much a recap GMK, even having Ember Island host a stage play of it as “Pro Ghidorah” propaganda.
3. Other Monsters
Revisiting the story, I decided that I  more monsters to fatten the story up. It’s “Godzilla vs Ghidorah” story, but they fight once at the beginning and again at the end, with not much in between. Sure, Godzilla fighting benders could add variety to the “Godzilla vs the Army”, but I’m not sure that’s enough.
Some monsters I considered include Zilla, Desotroyah, Biollante, and even Gigan, but I wanted to use them in other stories and don’t like having to use the same monsters over and over.
Mothra’s also included. For two thirds of the story, Mothra would be in a chrysalis state, having made a home in the Fire Nation. Ghidorah would constantly feed off Mothra’s power to slowly rebuild his strength, essentially torturing her throughout. All while that Mothra is another “Guardian Monster” and who doesn’t mind being fed on.
Tumblr media
Mothra tries to “Channel” with Benders, warning them of the truth, but the only one she reaches is Azula. Towards the third act, Azula speaks for Mothra to the Three Nations...but because she’s Azula, they don’t believe her (even with Aang, Katara and Ty Lee advocating for her) - in fact, they end up attacking Mothra when she emerges, with Ghidorah declaring her "tainted" by Azula.
For another monster, I ultimately went with Bagan.
Tumblr media
For those who don't know, Bagan was infamous for numerous planned but scrapped appearances in the Heisei era. Toho had different ideas for what Bagan would be, but the “canon” origin they went with was a “demonic dragon god” from Ancient China. This origin for Bagan would be included here. Despite/because of Bagan's obscurity and constantly being scrapped, Godzilla fans tend to overhype Bagan as this ultimate Godzilla villain. To avoid that, Bagan here is a mid-story boss.
Bagan is awakened by the Three Nations, believing him to be a “Guardian Monster” who’d help against Godzilla...only to backfire because, y'know; Demon Dragon God. Bagan lays waste to the Water Tribes and a city in the Uncharted Lands, before facing Godzilla in Ba Sing Se.
Godzilla is injured and exhausted from the fight, but with the help of Aang and co, Bagan is forced to flee...before having his power and life drained by an opportunistic Ghidorah, who lifts Godzilla into the air before dropping him into Boiling Rocks lake, before going on to lay waste to the Three Nations, with nothing but a weakened Mothra to fight him.
Tumblr media
This prompts a new expedition to revive Godzilla.
4. Ships and Character Arcs
First up is Kataang.
Tumblr media
Aang's arc isn't that deep; when he learns of the Ancient World, he briefly angsts about the Air Nomads and his current world being forgotten like the Ancient World. But a lot of that existential stuff takes a back seat to the threat of the Titans and the discovery of Uncharted Lands. Though it still lingers as Aang watches society shift around him. By the end, he comes to terms that even if he does revive the Air Nomads, it'll likely be in a different form.
Aang is also the first one who tries to understand the Titans as opposed to attacking them blindly. While Katara accidentally channels Godzilla, Anng and co eventually manage to verbally communicate with him (albeit through Katara's mouth). Katara is more angry at Godzilla, since he did wreck her village upon making landfall, though she cools down when it dawns on her that most of the destruction Godzilla causes is accidental.
Then we get Godzilla's perspective; he's lost faith in humanity sometime after the Final Wars. He has sensed genocide, war and environmental damage for the past ten thousand years; last time he awoke (Kyoshi's era), he saved the world from another monster, and humanities armies attacked him while he was exhausted, nearly killing him.
Aang and Katara take it upon themselves to show Godzilla that humanity is still worth caring about, letting Godzilla look through Katara's eyes as they interact with the world and culture around them.
As for Maiko’s arc.
Tumblr media
Zuko is put into the role of Hero Antagonist as the Fire Nation throws their army against the threat of Godzilla. Zuko was who Ghidorah first had in mind to “bond” with, but found his mind too “stubborn and resilient”; Mai was considerably easier, although even she slowly severs the bond. Initially, Ghidorah uses Mai's position as Zuko's significant other, and the daughter of a governor to speak to the Fire Nation and sell his claims as a “Guardian Monster”.
To keep Mai in line, Ghidorah threatens to kill Tom Tom using her own hands. After a while, Ghidorah begins underestimating Mai as she begins putting up more resistance to their “link”, eventually overcoming Ghidroah's influence; Mai doesn’t letting herself be intimidated by him, and successfully resists his puppeteering attempts.
With Zuko's help, she severs Ghidorah's link and they plan on revealing the truth. Unfortunately, Ghidorah notices Kiyi is strong for her age, but has a “weaker, vulnerable mind”; forcibly bonding with her, threatening to self harm her to keep Zuko in check, and force him to set the Fire Nations armies against Godzilla, and threatens to have Kiyi kill Ursa to make sure Kiyi plays ball (in some revisions, he makes good on that threat).
Great guy, that Ghidorah!
And now for Azula, who I consider the stories secondary protagonist. Yes, The Ancient World would be an Azula Redemption fic.
Tumblr media
Picking up after Smoke and Shadow, Azula is still trying to influence Zuko and his rule, getting her hands dirty when Zuko’s are tied, following Aang’s expedition behind Zuko’s back. Ty Lee is among the Kyoshi Warriors joining the expedition. Azula figures she can play the expedition to her advantage (“For Zuko’s benefit of course. What would he do without me ?”) when the miners uncovered WMDs, which were to be put on the same ships Aang and co are using “for safe keeping”.
Azula’s initial plan was to use these weapons to manufacture something to deal with the Titans (“And if anyone should have this power, it’d be the Fire Nation. Zuzu will thank me later.”) However, Godzilla attacks Aang’s expedition, leaving them - Azula and her crew included - on the Uncharted Lands.
At the start of her arc, Azula herself isn't seeking redemption. She’s still trying to “guide” Zuko’s rule, and maintains a haughty front 70% of the time. But now that she's out of an environment, with none of Ozai’s lingering influences, the emotions Azula considered "weakness" start to surface.
Tumblr media
Like Zuko, Azula would have a “bonding chapter/episode” with Team Avatar, and two with Ty Lee (three if you count Azula and Katara looking after her when Ty Lee has a fever). Azula wouldn’t have the same humility as Zuko and very reluctant to show her vulnerability to others. Whenever she shows compassion or altruism (notably, saving a baby from choking) she's quick to downplay it. It isn’t until Azula accidentally “bonds” with Mothra that she airs out her baggage to the others. Even then, she puts up a haughty front afterwards.
For much of the story, the cast has mixed feelings with Azula being among them. Aang is the most optimistic of them, being one who tries to see the best in everyone. Katara and Ty Lee are cautious about Azula, but warm up to her as her arc goes on. Then you got this asshole, Ty Lee's “boyfriend” Shirio (the fics only major OC) who takes “Azula is crazy and needs to be taken down” as gospel. Shirio has a hate boner for Azula, and soon makes it everyone’s problem.
While this is a Tyzula story, we don't go for “Caretaker Ty Lee”. In fact, Ty Lee’s arc is about being assertive.
Ty Lee doesn't immediately forgive Azula, nor does get relegated to Azula's support system. In fact, I'd say Aang would have more to do with helping Azula. Ty Lee has these mixed feelings, always second guessing herself whether she is just afraid of Azula or has buried romantic feelings for her. In fact, during the botched hijacking, Ty Lee is the one who fights Azula head on.
Tumblr media
At first Ty Lee reconnects with a childhood friend of hers, Shirio, a minor Fire Nation noble trying to insert himself into Zuko’s circle. Shirio has a Nice Guy/White Knight complex, trying to be the “healthy/wholesome” savior to an “infantile/naïve” Ty Lee. Shirio also joins Aang’s expedition because Ty Lee’s on the trip.
Ty Lee spends much of the first half telling off Azula and standing up to herself, but bit by bit her resolve falters, and her more romantic feelings start to boil over. While Ty Lee herself isn't that instrumental to Azula's reformation, their relationship is used to juxtapose it. The more Azula heals and betters herself, the more she and Ty Lee start to reconnect, and it’s only when the walls break down does Ty Lee let her own walls break too.
Tumblr media
By contrast, Shirio shows a more toxic side to Ty Lee (and everyone else).
Shirio's corruption arc is juxtaposed with Azula's redemption. At first Shirio seems like an enthusiastic friend looking to help the protagonists, but has a few red flags. Sure, he uses gaslighting tactics whenever Ty Lee second guesses herself. Sure, he self harms when things aren’t going his way. And when initially stranded, Shirio keeps an injured Ty Lee in an isolated camp, claiming everyone else was killed, to be “alone” with her, and feigns surprise/relief when they’re found. But y’know, he’s such a Nice Guy!
Anyways, the more Azula opens up, (re)connects with others and heals herself ? Shirio becomes more bitter, vindictive and unhinged, showing himself as the unstable monster he sees Azula as. He even silently considers smothering a baby because Azula “tainted” it by saving it from choking; he only doesn’t go through with it because he couldn’t get away with it. Later, Shirio helps awaken Bagan, deliberately provoking Bagan’s attack on two cities, getting hundreds of thousands of people killed; all because Ty Lee told him off and shared a dance with Azula at this ceremony they attend.
Tumblr media
Azula’s first redemption moment (besides saving a baby) comes when she gets her hands on the WMD’s, but rather than manufacturing something that can kill the Titans, she instead uses it to power Godzilla, when he is left near dead by Ghidorah. The second is during the final battle with Ghidorah, where Azula pulls Kiyi from a river after Ghidorah has her throw herself in. Azula ends up resuscitating the unconscious Kiyi, and the first thing Kiyi does when she sees Azula is give her a hug.
At the end of her arc, Azula is in a much better place than we saw her before; she is even given a position of power in Republic City; I see post-redemption Azula as being “Reformed But Not Tamed Type”, putting her ruthlessness into being a businesswoman.
In a Korra era sequel, it’d be revealed Azula had a hand in the United Republics industrial development, investing in different industries. Specifically, she helped a young Hiroshi Sato develop Future Industries, and Hiroshi becomes very close to Azula and Ty Lee's daughter.
Yes, I’m implying what you think I’m implying
Tumblr media
4. Other Stuff
So Azula's not a human antagonist, then who fills that spot ? Technically the United Republic, with the Three Nations bringing their armies together to stop Godzilla; Zuko leading and representing the Fire Nation, Hakoda for the Water Tribe, Kuei for the Earth Kingdom. I say “Antagonist” and not “Villain”; they're only antagonists because they're in opposition to the protagonists.
There’s no ill will with the protagonists. You see where they're coming from, and even if they're being manipulated and misguided by an Eldritch Dragon, they are uniting to stop what they see as a tangible threat to their people. And they do realize what they're doing was wrong and spend the third act trying to make things right.
Buuuuuut for a less nuanced Hate Sink ? Shirio’s your guy! Though he spends the last third of the story imprisoned after setting off Bagan’s rampage.
The third act plays out similarly to King of the Monsters, with a revived Godzilla battling an enhanced Ghidorah in the Fire Nations Imperial City. Godzilla would be backed up by the three armies, as well as Team Avatar and Azula. Ghidorah would eventually get overwhelmed and try to flee, but through Aang and Katara's water and air bending - enhanced by Mothra - Ghidorah's frozen solid mid air and explodes into a cloud of snow by Godzilla atomic breath.
Tumblr media
Mothra would survive this fight, but would sense something “off world” and fly off to investigate. Godzilla leaves peacefully after staring down the survivors, and the Three Nations have to rebuild their societies. And Azula's in a much better place with her family, Mai, and especially Ty Lee.
Beyond that, there's really not much else to cover.
I remember writing this one sequence down that I really liked; it had Aang and his team (and Azula and hers) exploring the Uncharted Land's culture, and end up invited to a wedding. It was the “breather” episode of the story, with Aang sharing a dance with Katara, and Ty Lee sharing a dance with Azula.
Tumblr media
In this sequence, we learn that this society has recreated/preserved songs from the Ancient World though various methods (mostly oral tradition). This is low key an excuse for IRL songs to exist in this story and it’s Korra era sequel.
I call it the “How Do I Live ?” sequence.

(SPOILERS FOR GODZILLA X KONG THE NEW EMPIRE)
(I mean, what do you expect when you see two of the new titans in a headcanon? But whatever. Don't complain if some things get spoiled.)
(Good? Okay)
Scar King
Tumblr media
Scar King is Power Hungry, Malicious, Evil, Warlord, and a Dictator. The orangutan titan is power hungry cause he wants to control everything and everyone, which would explain why he went to war with Godzilla for the surface of earth. He's practically obsessed with getting out of Hollow Earth just to take control of it. Scar King is a dictator and acts like one too; he's evil and considers his subjects tools, and just like tools, he'll throw them away when they're of no use or to make a point and show why you shouldn't disobey him. Example: the king who was kicked into the lava when they tried defending Suko. The warlord, for obvious reasons, wants to conquer the whole planet, or at least the surface. His rule is law; if you disobey him, you're dead, if he finds something funny, it's funny to everyone; if it isn't, it's not funny. Example: Kong has a steel tooth, which he made fun of, and everyone was nervously laughing. His biggest and most valuable thing is Shimo, the first Titan, The Mother of All Titans, under his command. He sees her as a tool—a more valuable one that has its benefits. The orangutan titan sees Kong as a threat to his rule; him having the axe doesn't help, which is why he tries attacking and killing him.
Shimo
Tumblr media
Shimo, The Mother of All Titans, is quite rebellious, slightly aggressive, ancient, pain, and old. The ice reptile Titan is old because she's the mother of all titans and the first Titan so, yeah, she's old. Shimo is quiet; I mean, what's the point? When she was under Scar King's control, he would use that damn crystal piece of hers to shut her up, and for her to be under his control for so long, it became natural. Rebellious because, in some scenes, she seems to struggle or refuse to do what Scar King wants before he has to use it again. An example of this would be him commanding her to attack Kong or move so he can ride her. (Pause.) She's slightly, no, aggressive because she bottled her emotions up and holds a, well, you can't measure how much she despises that damn ape.
She also holds a lot of respect for Kong for freeing her from Scar King. So, she was willing to bow to him, not because he freed her but because he genuinely is a good Titan. Plus, he is nice to her and gives her pats and rubs her chin, which she loves. (Oh my god, people are so going to ship them.)
So, I watched the movie today, and OMG, my favorite MonsterVerse movie ever!!! Shimo is one of my favorite kaijus and titans, along with King Kong.

File: Godzilla
SCP#: ABQ
Code Name: The Incarnation of Oppenheimer's Sin/ The Unsung Hero of Earth: Godzilla/ Gojira: King of Monsters.
Object Class: Apollyon/ Thaumiel
Special Containment Procedures: Not only is containment of SCP-ABQ impossible, it is discouraged. SCP-ABQ is essential to the survival of the human race and the preservation of peace between humanity and the Large-Scale Class Anomalies located all over the world hidden under the crust and oceans. Instead, any Group of Interest or anomaly that attacks SCP-ABQ with the intent to kill it is to be met with extreme prejudice.
Description: SCP-ABQ is a Large-Scale Class Anomaly belonging to Species of Interest: The Titans. SCP-ABQ is about 108 meters tall which is typical height for the Titan species. Like most of the Titan species, SCP-ABQ is reptilian in nature with the basic appearance of an Iguana. SCP-ABQ's scales are a very dark gray with large plate-like spikes on its back, acting as intimidation appearance, defensive purposes, and as biological batteries. SCP-ABQ has the particular power to generate fusion based atomic energy within its body that gets processed through the plates on its back. Once it has generated enough energy SCP-ABQ is able to blast atomic fire resulting from the fusion energy within its body, out of its mouth. Quite similar to how a dragon has an organ in its throat that stores hydrogen gas to breath fire.
Surprisingly SCP-ABQ doesn't just make fusion based atomic energy but can also absorb atomic energy to regenerate from any wound. It can even grow stronger when it receives excess energy. Should SCP-ABQ achieve this, it will reach a critical point where its body is constantly releasing fusion energy with a temperature of 500,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot enough to burn everything around it and melt steel instantaneously. SCP-ABQ will also be able to release thermonuclear shockwaves all around it, vaporizing everything, even other Titans.
SCP-ABQ in particular is a Titan known as an Alpha, Alpha Titans rule over other titans without question. This is mainly thanks to the fact that, like all Alpha Titans, SCP-ABQ has the ability to release a frequency that both communicates with and gives commands to other Titans. Naturally this would make SCP-ABQ a hazard for an OK Class Omega Species Uprising Scenario as well as a possible SK Class Dominance Shift Scenario. However, that is not the case regarding SCP-ABQ at all.
SCP-ABQ, unlike most Titans, has no ill will towards humanity so long as humanity does not harm it. Instead, SCP-ABQ stays in the earth's oceans and swims around the world to guard all life on earth. Rather than a tyrant, SCP-ABQ acts as a guardian of earth, defending it from hostile Titans as well as other overwhelming anomalous threats. Though the Foundation and other organizations within the ACPA are grateful for this, why SCP-ABQ does this is unknown.
Futhermore, SCP-ABQ has the ability to spread great amounts of Gaia Radiation. Gaia Radiation, unlike normal radiation that inflicts sterility and increases occurrence of developmental abnormalities, heals and increases quality of life for all fauna and flora. Gaia Radiation is a form of non-electromagnetic radiation that acts like a super vitamin in energy form capable of reaching through any material to affect all living organisms. How exactly this works is not well understood as Gaia Radiation is extremely difficult to contain and often dissipates when it is. Though what is known is that exposure to Gaia Radiation includes nearly instantaneous regeneration and healing and even enhanced growth when exposed for extended periods of time; this applies to all forms of life exposed. Anywhere where a Titan like SCP-ABQ has been will start growing into a lush forest within a single month. It is because of Gaia Radiation that Species of Interest: The Titans exist as large and powerful as they do, despite our laws of nature stating they shouldn't even exist.
SCP-ABQ was discovered in 1954, residing on the deep waters of [data expunged] beach, of Hiroshima. Apparently, it had been there since 1945, absorbing the nuclear energy that did contaminate the city. It was because of SCP-ABQ that the city was able to be rebuilt in two years; however, it was also because of the bomb that SCP-ABQ was awakened. It was for reasons like this that the US Governments, like most governments in the world, are looked at with a negative light by the Foundation.
SCP-ABQ originated from SCP-[data expunged] only coming to the surface to feed on the sudden influx of atomic energy during World War 2. Since then, for better or worse SCP-ABQ has influenced the anomalous world. Please See Addendum X-23 for details

Addendum X-23
The following is a list of what SCP-ABQ has done since its awakening as well as the exact years of its activities.
1955 - SCP-3700-1 battles SCP-3700-2 but is nearly defeated especially with the growing population of SCP-3456 instances. However, SCP-ABQ intervenes and with its atomic breath, destroys all the SCP-3456 instances and greatly injures SCP-3700-2. From there SCP-3700-1 and SCP-ABQ fight against SCP-3700-2 and are overwhelmingly victorious. Afterwards SCP-ABQ leaves, and SCP-3700-1 proceeds to bring good weather to the area. SCP-ABQ was reported by Naval Task Force Delta-7 to have appeared quite a few times as the years went by. It always assisted SCP-3700-1 and completely obliterated SCP-3700-2.
1961 - Foundation staff discovered SCP-[data expunged] on the island of [data expunged] causing it to awaken not long after. SCP-[data expunged] forced all Foundation staff off of the island and later cocooned itself. After about a day, SCP-[data expunged] evolved into its second form. This was where SCP-ABQ rose up from the ocean and addressed SCP-[data expunged] with a surprisingly friendly manner.
SCP-[data expunged] and SCP-ABQ separated afterwards, Foundation staff returned to the island for further research. Natives of the island told Dr. [data expunged] that SCP-[data expunged] was Mothra, queen of monsters, meanwhile SCP-ABQ is Gojira, King of Monsters. Later the natives introduced the Foundation to historical paintings and records allowing Foundation staff to understand Species of Interest: The Titans.
1964 false - SCP-[data expunged] as well as many other SCP-[data expunged] instances awakened from the earth's crust or surface form SCP-[data expunged]. SCP-ABQ and SCP-[data expunged] battled them all while receiving reinforcements in heavy firepower by the Foundation and other ACPA organizations. SCP-[data expunged] was killed as a result and SCP-ABQ was recognized as the Alpha again. Unfortunately, the end result was 78% of the human population being wiped out. Under protocol "No Humanity" the remaining 22% was executed before the activation of SCP-2000.
1964 True - SCP-ABQ and SCP-[data expunged] were not affected by SCP-2000 and even became the unconditional Alphas of all SCP-[data expunged] instances. SCP-ABQ then ordered all SCP-[data expunged] instances to retreat into SCP-[data expunged] allowing humanity to thrive in peace.
1971 - Foundation researchers discover the island known as SCP-[data expunged] as well as SCP-[data expunged]-Alpha. SCP-ABQ arrives on the island and fights with SCP-[data expunged]-Alpha. However, their fight is interrupted by the sudden appearance of SCP-[data expunged]-1 instances. Once SCP-[data expunged]-Omega appears, SCP-ABQ and SCP-[data expunged]-ALPHA battle and are eventually victorious. Because of their victory an unspoken peace was established between the two as SCP-ABQ left the island.
1974 - Group of Interest: The Imperial Japanese Anomalous Matters Examination Agency created a mechanical monstrosity known as SCP-[data expunged] in the likeness of SCP-ABQ. It was unleashed on Japan and was meant to be a symbol of the rebirth of Japan's Imperialism over the world as well as its revenge for WWII. However, SCP-ABQ as well as SCP-[data expunged] fought against the mechanical monstrosity and after about a day it was finally defeated.
The result was several coastal Japanese cities being destroyed and the overall situation nearly leading to an MK Class Broken Masquerade Scenario. Thankfully though SCP-[data expunged] was defeated and a majority of its parts were contained within the Foundation. However there has been confirmation that other Groups of Interest managed to get smaller parts that might have anomalous properties. A Joint Task Force of Gamma-5 "Red Herrings” and Poseidon-3 "Otaku Heart" was formed to silence the media and erase the memories of the entire event. The cover story was that a horrible typhoon hit the coast of Japan resulting in the destruction of the cities.
1989 - SCP-722 woke up and wreaked havoc on the surrounding areas, this somehow resulted in SCP-3000 surfacing, leading to a fight between the two. The Fight led to the complete destruction of the island [data expunged] located in the [data expunged] ocean. The coastal city of [data expunged] was unfortunately affected by SCP-722's toxins and the survivors suffered from SCP-3000's Cognito hazardous effects leading to [data expunged]. They were later killed off by the Foundation since there was no way to save them.
Before the rampaging could continue Mobile Task Force Apollo-1 "Orion's Belt" tried to bombard both entities, forcing them back into the depths. However, SCP-3000 somehow knew of the MTF Apollo-1 ships moving into position of engagement. It retaliated by screaming into the sky, directly towards the MTF Apollo-1 ships, with a sonic vibration capable of various Cognito hazardous effects. Most Foundation staff, MTF units, and pilots died upon contact while others suffered heavy brain degradation similar to Stage 5 of Alzheimer's Disease. This resulted in MTF Apollo-1 suffering over [data expunged] in casualties as well as losing a total of [data expunged] ships as well as the SCPSS "Victory" and the SCPSS "Armageddon" both of which where GBSWD-53 "Black Hole" dreadnought class ships.
With nothing to stop them, SCP-3000 eventually overpowered SCP-722, forcing it to serve under SCP-3000. SCP-3000 and SCP-722 moving fast with its trajectory destination being Site-[data expunged]. It started traveling via SCP-[data expunged], this action alone angered SCP-ABQ causing it to act. SCP-ABQ intercepted SCP-3000 and SCP-722, being immune to both of their anomalous attacks. SCP-ABQ quickly overwhelmed the two with its strength as well as its atomic breath. Once SCP-3000 and SCP-722 were stunned due to massive injuries, SCP-ABQ tried to secure the kill until [data expunged] appeared. [data expunged]; afterwards, it healed SCP-3000 and forced SCP-722 back to slumber. SCP-ABQ and SCP-3000 left each other in peace and [data expunged] vanished from sight.
It is unknown as to why Site-[data expunged] was SCP-3000's destination, though Dr. [data expunged] believes it might be related to SCP-[data expunged].
1990 - SCP-5514 construction is complete however at the same time SCP-ABQ starts heading to Site-[data expunged] where it is being held. SCP-5514 was about to be deployed into battle but instead MTF High Commander Yōsai gave the command to have SCP-5514 bow to SCP-ABQ upon arrival.
SCP-5514 met with SCP-ABQ at the coast of [data expunged] afterwards SCP-ABQ started roaring to which SCP-5514 bowed to it as MTF High Commander Yōsai commanded. Like he predicted, SCP-ABQ accepted and returned to the ocean instead of fighting. MTF Gamma-5 worked around the clock to distribute amnestics to everyone while Mobile Task Force Dionysus-1 "Fake News" intercepted all newspaper outlets to present the leaked photos of SCP-ABQ and SCP-5514 as leaked special effects from an upcoming movie "Godzilla: King of Monsters vs the Dragon Slayer." TriStar Pictures was asked by the Foundation to create this movie to make the lie more authentic. They successfully created the movie in 1998, it was a massive flop at the box office.
1997 - SCP-169 started becoming active and moving at slowly increasing speeds. SCP-ABQ swam to SCP-169 and grabbed onto its stomach area where it started draining its body heat. Doing this slowed down SCP-169 allowing Mobile Task Force Gamma-6 "Deep Feeders" to attach the Large-Scale Anesthetic Injection device into SCP-169's gills without worry. Ensuring SCP-169 would go back to sleep. SCP-ABQ noticed the MTF Gamma-6 submarine but only glanced then swam away.
2000 - The Global Occult Coalition and Eight Wings of Mekhane created their own equivalents to SCP-5514 in preparation in accordance with ACPA protocol "The Bigger Boot". SCP-ABQ appeared before both of them as well, the Eight Wings of Mekhane had their giant mech bow immediately while the Global Occult Coalition nearly decided to just kill SCP-ABQ. It was only thanks to [data expunged] that they stopped themselves and their mecha finally bowed as well. Afterwards MTF Gamma-5 and MTF Dionysus-1 did the same procedures as the first incident with SCP-5514. It even led to the Global Occult Coalition to asking Legendary Entertainment to create "Godzilla & Mothra VS The Living Fortress & The Living Temple" since they bought rights to the "Godzilla Brand" after the TriStar Pictures flop. They finally succeeded in 2014, it was also a massive flop at the box office with critics asking, "Where do they come up with these stupid ideas?" and "The Robots look so stupid, there's no way any government in the world would create something so ridiculous". Several GOC representatives were especially annoyed upon hearing that.
2006 - SCP-ABQ was wandering the oceans of [data expunged] until it found a dying SCP-[data expunged] with what was clearly some eggs belonging to the species. SCP-ABQ seemingly roared out and SCP-[data expunged] appeared from the oceans seemingly by using SCP-[data expunged] as transportation. SCP-[data expunged] released a harmonic song that eased the SCP-[data expunged] instance as it died. Afterwards both SCP-[data expunged] and SCP-ABQ carried as many eggs as they could and transported them into SCP-[data expunged]. As of 20[data expunged] the species of SCP-[data expunged] now thrives well within SCP-[data expunged].
2011 false - Instances of SCP-[data expunged] started waking up all over the world. As a response SCP-ABQ, SCP-[data expunged], SCP-[data expunged]-Alpha, and several SCP-[data expunged] instances went out to fight the emerging SCP-[data expunged] instances. SCP-5514 as well as the GOC's and EWM's mechas were deployed in the "Infected" areas. Unfortunately, the conflict ended in 82% of the world's population being wiped out. Under Protocol "Last Chance" the remaining 18% were evacuated from earth and sent to Site-AI as well as other Foundation off earth colonies. Afterwards SCP-2000 was activated and rebuilt the earth without affecting SCP-ABQ or the others.
2011 true - The remaining SCP-[data expunged] instances that did not surface were collected and contained by newly constructed underground Foundation recon bases around the world. Those that couldn't be contained were killed on sight. Unfortunately, several SCP-[data expunged] instances have been sighted within SCP-[data expunged]. Efforts to purge them and stop the "infection" are ongoing.
Side Note: In their victory SCP-[data expunged] and SCP-ABQ mated, which was very surprising since one is an insectoid and the other is reptilian. However, it was proven possible as SCP-[data expunged] started laying eggs the year afterwards. The eggs are located in [data expunged].
2013 - The first instance of SCP-[data expunged] manifested but was killed off by SCP-ABQ almost immediately, thankfully before it reached the surface. From that point on every six months either SCP-ABQ or SCP-5514 killed any SCP-[data expunged] instance that appeared.
2021 - A secret base at the island of SCP-[data expunged] owned by Group of Interest: Anderson Robotics developed a new instance of SCP-[data expunged], including old pieces from the original instance. It quickly goes out of control after being fueled by [data expunged] as such SCP-[data expunged]-Alpha fights in but is quickly overpowered. Thankfully SCP-ABQ shows up and saves him and once again the two work together to fight SCP-[data expunged]. However, even then they are close to losing, forcing the Foundation to deploy SCP-5514, finally giving them the winning tide until they are victorious. Once again, they leave one another in peace.
2023 - The eggs started hatching leading to the birth of SCP-[data expunged] and SCP-[data expunged]. Surprisingly SCP-[data expunged] ended up bonding with [data expunged] who was only 5 years old and was there out of coincidence. This was especially alarming as it related to the mural found in [data expunged], said to be a prophecy.
