#OTD in 1960: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested for joining a sit-in protest at Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta. Along with dozens of students, King was jailed — but unlike the others, he was not released days later.
Instead, he was transferred to Reidsville State Prison, where he was ordered by a judge to serve a five-month sentence for unknowingly violating his probation from May of that year, when he was stopped by police for driving with expired tags and was issued a $25 citation for driving in Georgia with an out-of-state license.
This photo was taken of Dr. King and his family after he was granted an early release from the prison, in October 1960. Today, we honor Dr. King for his fight for civil rights and knowing when to get into #GoodTrouble.

TV: Jonnor
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Made this edit myself.
To me, Evan has always seemed like that toxic ex, and yes he has made up for it, and genuinely cares for Mariana. I just can't unsee the mentor relationship there. To me, that's just a no, there is a power dynamic there, and is just weird to me.
I love Joaquiana, to me he is the most real Mariana has had. He calls her out on her shit when needed, and he is always there to comfort her/hear her out. He respected her boundaries when she said let's stop until I sort the Evan feelings.

Marian Anderson’s 1939 EASTER Concert
By Miriam Kleiman, Public Affairs
Marian Anderson was the Beyoncé of the opera world when she was invited to perform in DC at a concert planned for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Constitution Hall. The DAR's decision to bar her from doing so due to its "all-white performer policy" led to a turning point in civil rights history - her historic Easter concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial before a crowd of 75,000 admirers. Listen to this incredible concert online and discover through our records:

Ryan Tedder Imagine:
🍬 Good Trouble: Ryan Tedder x Reader Insert
Summary: You and Ryan are in Miami and are jet-lagged, unable to go to sleep when you're supposed to. Ryan suggests a fun late night activity to do in the water, and you decide to go. Confessions spill and it ends cute: enjoy ;)

Tumblr media
You and Ryan were sprawled out in the hotel bed, the room dark, but your phones lighting your faces.  You just flew back to the US from Tokyo, but decided to take a little vacation detour to Miami.  You had the television on for a while, but eventually turned it off.  You both slept on the plane, and now, you weren't tired at all.  Even with the double dose of melatonin in your systems.  The AC blew into the room, swirling cool air around the bed and successfully keeping the humid bog outside away.
You were scrolling through your favorite social media, which had become dull and boring a while ago, but you refused to give up.  You were wide awake.  You glanced up at the time again.  2:34 AM.
Ryan shuffled next to you, and you watched him roll onto his side facing you and set his phone down.  You turned your head, letting your phone switch off and lie against your chest.
"Are you tired?" He asked, similar to that of a child waking up their parents.  There was a lighter tone at the end of the question, almost like he had a suggestion for a cure of the boredom.
"Not in the slightest," you responded immediately, curling onto your side to face him.  "Why?"
You could barely see Ryan's face.  You had the curtains drawn open, and there was only a dull moonlight.  You could only tell the water from the sand due to it turning into a deep black void.
"We should go skinny dipping," he said curtly.
As the suggestion reaches your mind, you flush red a little bit.  Thinking about stripping down to nothing and going into the water with Ryan... it sounded like trouble.  Bad trouble or good trouble, you weren't sure.  You'd never seen Ryan without his shirt on, much less without pants or underwear.
"You... want to go skinny dipping?" you trailed, "on a public beach?"
"It's almost three in the morning," he shifts with the sheet, pulling it up to his chin.  "No one is going to be out there."
You thought about it a little more.  Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea.  The beach was tagged off to keep sharks out and make it safe.  The only bad thing that could possibly happen is the both of you somehow get recognized while you're butt naked in the water.
Figuring there was nothing to lose, you sat up saying, "Alright, yeah.  Why not?"
You each got up and started getting ready.  You got two new beach towels that weren't wet and put them on the end of the bed.  When you were shuffling through your suitcase, Ryan paused.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
You looked up at him, a raise to your brow.  "We're going to have to change back into these clothes a little wet.  I'm just picking something easier.  And also, things I don't care getting sand on."
He took your response into consideration and actually did the same.  He didn't want sand in his sweatpants either.  You just settled for a pair of loose shorts and t-shirt, ditching your underwear and bra.  When you came out and slid on your flip-flops, Ryan was holding each of the towels, waiting patiently.
"You ready?" he muttered, handing one to you.
You nod, and you both quietly make your way down the hallway, down the elevator, through the lobby, and out the back.  You had to skirt past the pool area, which was closed off and completely desolate.  Once you walked down the path and reached the sand, the shoes came off.  You both took a second and observed the coastline.  It was very dark.  There was still quite a ways down to the shoreline, but you could still hear the little waves crashing in the distance.
There wasn't a person in sight.  Other than the lit hotels behind you, it was as if there wasn't anyone else awake.  As you both quietly walked down the cool sand, you stopped about halfway up.  You felt the sand between your toes.  It was cool, but it wasn't damp.  Unless a change in tide, your things were going to be just fine.  Another small fear whipped you as you imagined you both come back up to change only to find the ocean took your clothes.
"Here?" you asked, breaking the peaceful silence.
"Yeah," Ryan took a peek back.  You were far enough away to be concealed by the night.  "Here's good."
You unfolded your towel a little, dropping it to the sand and only glanced at Ryan through your peripherals.  He was doing the same, his fingers already taking his shirt by the back of the collar, tugging it up and over his body.  You held your breath and turned your head away, taking the fabric of your shirt by the hem.  It was warm outside still.  A sort of sticky warm, almost.  When you pulled your shirt over your head and dropped it, you refrained from being insecure.
Surely, Ryan wouldn't look at you.  Not obviously, anyway.
You both brought your bottoms down and onto your towels.  You shivered only at the fact that you were now standing stark naked on a public beach.  You glanced to your left behind you, making sure there really wasn't anyone there.
"You alright?" Ryan's voice broke even.
You turned your head swiftly towards the water again, then to him.  You looked at him determinedly in the eye.  And he was staring down at you the same.
"Yeah," your eyes danced between his, your cheeks gaining a red hue, "Yeah, I'm alright."
Ryan's eyes were locked on yours the same way yours were to him, then he looked away.  You both faced the water, still.
"Let's go," he says.
You each took your individual steps towards the water.  When the next little wave came tumbling onto the flat, wet sand, it washed up towards your toes.  It was still completely warm from being baked in the early Summer sun.  You pushed forward more, letting the next wave breathe and roll before you sunk past your thighs.  It felt so odd being in the water with no clothes on.  You never tried going skinny dipping before.
It wasn't until both you and Ryan got into the calm surf that you turned towards him.  Now that you were both concealed neck down, your bodies swallowed by the night's ocean, it didn't seem so torturous.  You waded out only a little further to avoid getting crushed by any waves, then everything was quiet again.
"This is pretty nice," Ryan sighs, dipping his head back into the water and wetting his hair.
You decide on doing the same, then looking out towards the endless horizon where the stars met.  You couldn't help but agree.  "Yeah, it is."
As another wave crashes and you both get pulled into shore, your foot touches the sand below.  You both swim back out.  You now think of a new fear.
"However," you begin, "if something touches my foot, I'm out."
Ryan let out a light laugh.  "I know exactly what you mean.  Let's swim out a little more so it hopefully won't be a problem."
After settling in deeper water, much more calm and peaceful than fighting the surf, you both floated in silence.  You looked up and watched the moon, gently wading your arms but not having to kick much with the salt water keeping you up.  While looking up, your hand bumped into something, and you quickly craned your neck to see.  Ryan was a lot closer than you thought he was.
You took your hand back and muttered an apology, one that he shook his head to.  Ryan reached out and his fingers grazed your arm.  He drew you towards him, making you lose some of your inhibitions.
"Thank you for agreeing to do this with me," he says quietly, keeping you at enough of a distance away that wouldn't make you uncomfortable.  "I know it was a bit of a crazy idea."
You couldn't help but smile a little.  "The idea was kind of nuts, but it is pretty fun.  I don't do things like this, so it's nice to get out of my shell a little.  So, thank you, I guess."
You watched one of Ryan's gorgeously genuine smiles reach his face.  His light hold on your arm drifted down to your fingers instead.  You let your fingers curl around his.  He pulls towards you just a little more, the smile remaining in his eyes as he looks at you.
You could hardly see the silhouette of his face in the dim moonlight, but you imagine he's looking right at you.
"What?" You muttered, chuckling nervously.
Ryan gave his head a little shake.  Then he said something so simply.  "You're fun."
You have a huff of amusement, grinning.  "I'm fun?  Is that all?"
"Yeah, you're fun," he repeated again, beaming too.
"Because stripping down and getting in the water was all my idea," you say cheekily, using the hand you were paddling water with to playfully flick a few drops on him.
He flicked some back at you, making you squint.  "I'm not just saying that because we're skinny dipping in the ocean right now."
"Oh?" you laughed, wiping the drip off your brow.
"You're just fun to be with," he says, giving my hand a squeeze.  "You make everything new and exciting.  I could go anywhere with you."
The kindness and honesty the words were said made you feel warm.  He really held your hand and told you he could go anywhere with you.  You can feel the beginnings of tears glisten in your eyes.  You covered them with a smile.
"Thank you," you said finally, rubbing your thumb comfortingly against the backs of his fingers as he still held onto your hand.  "I'd love to go anywhere with you."
He watched you with soft eyes.  Although you couldn't quite see each other, you both knew the other was staring.  It was quiet, the waves washing up the beach and creating a gentle ambiance.  It was so calm and peaceful, and everything warm you were feeling made you almost feel fuzzy.
Ryan then drew you in even more.  The rules and regulations of a friendship were really starting to be crossed when he pulled you in enough that your legs touched.  You were silent and observing, watching against the moonlight at the curves of his face.  Your heart was racing as you had gotten so close.  While Ryan rested your hand on his shoulder, he didn't go as far as to touch your waist, almost as if it would make you disappear.  His palm pressed on your upper back instead, keeping you close.
You feel like you almost can't breathe.  The water rested just below your lips now; you both stopped treading.
About a million thoughts were buzzing through your mind, and you simply freaked out.  When your noses brushed against one another and you feel his breath on your lips, some pang of anxiety makes you back away.  He doesn't coral you towards him.  He lets you go, eyes fluttering open as you back up towards the sea.
"I--" you mutter, dampening your lips as you take your hand off his shoulder.
Ryan watched quietly, and you could see his posture stiffen a little as he looked regretful.
Before he could utter a syllable, you were already talking, "We should really go inside and get some sleep.  We'll be screwed tomorrow if we don't."
He takes your words in, hesitant before nodding.  "Yeah, you're right."
You began wading back towards the shoreline, heart absolutely racing and your mind numb.  You almost kissed him.  You pressed your lips into a fine line as you dug your fingernails into your palms.  Damn yourself for letting him go.  You couldn't fathom why you pushed him away.  Now, all you could think of was the regret drilling a hole straight through your heart.
As you each escape the next wave, you walk silently side-by-side, trying to find your clothes.  You were absolutely beating yourself up, biting down on your tongue.  Ryan gave a small point as you came to the lump of clothes.  As you each picked up your towels and began drying off, you paused.  You patted your face dry and just looked at the man who threw the towel over his head to dry his hair.
You could just tell from the palpable silence that he had something he wanted to say too, but it probably wouldn't be something he would ever mention.  Out of fear.
"Ryan?" you began, gathering your courage before it would flutter away.
"Mm hmm?" He hummed a little, clearly irritated and short.  He had the towel draped over his shoulders, letting it out of his hair as he glanced down at you.
Not a moment later, you stepped towards him and took a fistful of the towel in each of your hands and pulled him down towards you.  You pressed your lips onto his, just hoping that everything would turn out fine.
In less than a second, his head is tilted with yours, his body leaning into you, his hands reaching around your waist to set you against him.  You draped your arms over his shoulders, pushing the towel off.  He let it drop, squeezing your body so it pressed against his.
It was heated and intense for one hell of a first kiss.  You were even both naked still.  As he practically crushed you towards his body, your breasts squished against his chest.  The kiss was almost feverish.  It was full of passion and deeply rooted genuine lust.  In the back of your mind, you knew that the both of you had been waiting for this for a while.
There was always something between you.
And you both couldn't deny it now, especially since you were wrapped around one other, not even a stitch of clothing separating you.  When you broke the kiss, you rested your foreheads together, catching your breath.  Your eyes flutter open and a smile is playing on your lips.
Ryan has your hips under his palms, glancing between your eyes with the most pleasantly shocked expression on his face.  Your hand brushed up behind his neck, caressing him towards you.  Your chest was all fluttery inside, and you hoped his was too.
Then, a light shines towards you that makes you squint.  You're suddenly looking at Ryan directly in his bright blue eyes, able to see for a moment in the brighter light.  Feeling much more exposed, you gasp and shudder away from the light, the worry coating your throat and tasting bitter.
Ryan is quick to turn you both, his hand protectively on your waist as he turns his back towards the light.  Your eyes are wide, forced to look at his shoulder as he shielded your naked form with his.
"Oh," you hear, the light quickly disappearing.
Dread seeps in and your cheeks feel bright.  Over Ryan's shoulder, you see the silhouette of a man standing closer to the top of the sand.
"Sorry, you two," the voice called out.  "Thought you were in trouble.  I'm sorry."
"It's alright," Ryan responds, speaking over his shoulder.  "We were just about to leave."
"Yeah," the man speaks yet again, beginning to walk away.  "Just no sex on the beach is all I ask.  I know it's the middle of the night, but--"
"We weren't going to," Ryan says quickly, his thumb moving over the curve of your waist, "Don't worry."
The man hesitated but finally said, "Alright... You two have a good night."
"You too," you both chimed.
The small amount of silence that followed as Ryan gazed back down at you, listening to the man walk away, it was laughable. And you did laugh. You and Ryan both burst out into little giggles, you resting your head against his shoulder.
"Oh my God," you whispered, shaking your head. "How embarrassing."
Ryan grinned down at you, laughing right along as he still held you to him, and his alerted posture relaxed.
You slid your hand on his arm, still watching the silhouette walk away. "You don't think he knows who we are, do you?"
"Unless he can recognize me by my ass, then I don't think so," Ryan says flatly, making you burst out laughing again.
"I'm--" you chuckled and steadied yourself with his arms. "I'm sorry. Thank you for covering me up."
"Of course," he says seriously. "I don't want anyone seeing you that you don't want to see you."
His statement made you look up at him, a little speechless. You feel your stomach do flips as he's looking down at you, hands still on your hips and seeming no intentions of letting you go. You thought about Ryan and everything you've been through together. All the constant travelling and the writing and the planning. The sharing of ideas. The late night chats uncovering things about yourselves that you've never told anyone.
You brought your hands so gently on the sides of his face and stood on your tippy toes to reach him. You pressed your lips to his in a much softer, less desperate way this time. He kissed you back immediately, caressing your body lightly. When you parted, you remained very close. He then leaned in and pecked your lips.
You could feel the happiness and excitement still, even with your cheeks burning of embarrassment of getting caught.
"What..." you muttered, "what do we do now?"
"Well," Ryan began to smirk a little, his fingers tracing my jawline, caressing my cheek, "Care to go out to dinner with me tomorrow?"
You began to smile.
He teased a little, "And the next day, and the next day, then take a flight with me back to LA, then eventually go to Europe with me--"
"This sounds like a very long date, Ryan," you said in a joking tone.
He chuckled and traced your cheekbone endearingly. "How does it sound though? Does that sound okay?"
You imagined how different the rest of this tour would be now. You thought about waking up next to Ryan, not feeling bad about wanting to scoot closer. You dreamed about reaching down and holding his hand while you explored towns and cities together. The friendly texts you sent each other could be different, and more honest. You could tell him when you were missing him without a doubt that it would ruin your relationship. Dating, being together; you'd be able to do it all.
"It sounds like a dream," you respond, pecking his lips yet again. "Even though we were totally going to do it anyway, let's do it."
"Okay," Ryan grinned, placing a gentle kiss on my forehead, "Now let's get dressed and get the hell off this beach."
And you did just that. You both dried off as best as you could now that your towels were wet with sand, and got dressed. When you got back to the room, you both opted to take a shower together. There wasn't a single sexual thing about it. Intimate, yes, but not sexual. Ryan rubbed soap down your back as you stood under the showerhead and you massaged shampoo into his hair.
When you were finished, you each changed back into your lounge wear and got into bed. With the sunrise threatening the horizon in only a couple of hours, you and Ryan finally drifted off. With your eyes shut and your consciousness swaying, you both fell asleep with gentle smiles on your faces, legs tangled and Ryan's arms around your body with your cheek pressed against his chest.
Needless to say, you were happy that skinny dipping with Ryan ended up being the good kind of trouble.
