some of yall have the Worst takes on propaganda so I just wanna be clear about something
there's not a government in the world that doesn't produce propaganda. the fact that people will talk about the dangers of propaganda and then add "except this country's government, they've never done anything bad :) they said so!" is breathtakingly stupid, and sometimes even people who claim to be anarchists will say that shit
you can't trust any government, ever. no exceptions.

"Were you ever in the war senator?"
Seven simple words spoken in a scene with no response. Little reaction beyond silence to the twi'lek general's words. After all they were irrelevant moments later. But they carry such a weight they are hard to forget. These are the grief filled words of Hera Sydulla. A woman who has lived through two wars and is trying to prevent a third. A woman who does not want her son, her last peice of her partner, to grow up as she did. The words of Hera, the pilot who left her war torn world to fly. Who then flew for the rebellion and saved it through her passion. Phenix leader Hera who nearly died to the empire. Who nearly lost her life to the empire while desperately trying to fight back. General Hera Sydulla, who lost her partner, her son, who was tortured by Thrawn. The amount of PTSD she must have. And yet she lives on. She lives on to comfort her daughter, who's entire world, entire family was murdered. Hera lives on to comfort Sabine and her loss. Hera lives on to raise her youngest. To stabilize the galaxy. To see Ezra, her son again.
Were you ever in the war senator?
A question that asks him, are you speaking from a place of privilege? You have not seen what I lost, you have not felt what I lost. You have not lost nearly as much as I have.
And yet Hera does not yell. She does not respond to his anger with more. Because she is not him. She didn't cower before the empire and she won't cower before a senator who did.
It's an interesting scene, to see the new Republic in action.
We knew it fell, despite its best efforts.
"there are imperial remnants in all levels of the new Republic government"
Oh there are. There are. The same people the empire employed to turn the other way for money, or power or even just their own life still run the galaxy.
It's no wonder it fell.
The people who have never been on the battlefield, never experience the war can never be trusted with matters concerning another.

Dunno who needs to hear it, but just because a government is convinced enough that something might be real that they decide to spend money on researching it (EG, alien spacecraft, quantum jumping) doesn't mean it is.
It's like y'all forgot that time King James (of King James Bible fame) got it into his noggin that the country was overrun with Satanic witches and had a bunch of innocent people tortured and sentenced to death over it.
Sometimes people in government just believe in some crap.

Israel published the photos of the many killed by Hamas, including decapitated babies. Hamas denies it.
On that same day Human Rights Watch reported Israel was using white phosphorus against Gaza and Lebanon. Israel denies this.
Recently Israel gave 24 hours to the Palestinian civilians to leave Gaza. Many governments have stated that 24 hours for so many people to escape is an unrealistic demand. On the other hand, Hamas is prohibiting the civilians from fleeing, actively ordering them to stay in the danger zone where they know Israel is attacking.
This is why the conflict is complicated. And why anger/virtue rushing into saying “I support (country)” is not something prudent to say.

I just made a post saying that the current system feels like an endless maze, and I wanted to elaborate, talk about bureaucracy, how institutions create strategic inefficiencies, etc.
It’s hard to define the feeling that is created directly in a term as simple as ‘despair.’ Instead, let us think of what it is not. In my opinion, the opposite is walking in a forest. The openness contradicts the closed off feeling, the sounds do the same to the silence, and most importantly, you have control. You can choose what direction you go. In the current system, to even complain about a problem, you have to go through many different people and things, all of which are pushing you out. They will respond slowly, forcing you to work so much for just a corporate non-response.
In every part there is a feeling of illusion, that all that is around you is an imitation. It is, since although it is attempting to replicate the emotions, patterns, and soul of something living, it fails. See the corporate email, robotically saying “We are very concerned.” The institution can only cage emotion, not create it. It creates a soulless symmetry of unnatural repetition, desperately trying to make you feel the empathy for it that it will never feel for you.
If you are a worker, you probably see jobs everyday plastered with the words “We’re a family here!” You probably also see that none of these jobs offer the feeling of connection they promise. The institution cannot create feeling, no matter how skilled its creator, there is always a way to realize that what you are interacting with has no life.
Where does that leave us? Those of us trapped within?
The system may try to take your joy, but it cannot take your anger. The system cannot make you feel happiness, so it must not make you feel despair.

You know when I was younger I thought a good government would solve a lot of things and yeah they’d do some ok shit but now I realize that even “good governments ” would fuck it up because they always inevitably do
