hizashi is struggling with his bills in his first few years as a teacher and doing his best to keep his unpaid radio internship. he hears about these event fights being held in bar parking lots and after his experience in fight clubs in high school, he knows it’s his chance. these fights lead to him hearing about a sparta event; 16 fighters, single elimination, winner takes home 5,000,000 yen. walking back into an mma focused gym, it was like he was stepping back in time and he has to focus on holding onto the present as he gets ready

aizawa, back from a stint in the military, is trying to raise a young hitoshi but a veteran pension doesn’t pay much and no one wants to hire a single father with ptsd and an elbow that still tends to lock up on him. his only break is when he works out at the local boxing gym. he overhears a fighter training for this big event and offers to fight him until his regular sparring partner shows up. he gets in the ring and it’s like his brain is finally quiet again, his elbow stronger than ever as he easily takes down his opponent. the trainer watches him as he continues at the gym and finally suggests this big sparta event coming up

they hear about each other during the pr campaign and instantly recognise each other. how could they not? to hizashi, what other fighter would possibly refuse to do interviews or take pr photos? and aizawa would recognise hizashi’s voice anywhere even if it’s been years since he’s heard it on anything other than the old home movie tapes he keeps hidden under his bed. it’s been far too long since he’s heard it in person

they went to school together and both of them and shirakumo were the kings of their district’s wrestling team. both of them were more than a little in love with each other. but when shirakumo died, aizawa pulled away; dropping out of the wrestling team and going straight into the military when they graduated. hizashi pulled away too, just in a different way; hiding behind the happy mask of present mic until it feels like it’s been years since hizashi yamada saw the sun

they try to talk to each other in between fights and they range from polite conversation to screaming matches. though there are moments when it feels just like old times and both know their feelings for the other never went away.

until they finally meet in the last round of sparta. there’s no room for suppressed emotions in the ring, who knows what they manage to pull out of each other during the most important fifteen minutes of their lives?

BNHA 298 Spoiler Thoughts: Me crying about Shoto Todoroki a lot Edition

I’m sorry, I need to get my feelings out real quick b/c I’m feeling all the things:

The first thing Bakugo does when he wakes up is ask where Deku, Todoroki (he actually says “Todoroki” and not “Icy Hot” which means he respects Shoto 😭), his senpais (I think Nejire in particular since I don't think Mirio got injured too much), and his senseis are. I love how much Bakugo has grown throughout the series. His face doesn’t even show a hint of anger, just concern 🧡. At the beginning, none of what he’s asking could have been imagined as he was only focused on being the #1 hero. Now, he’s actively showing concern for his friends, senpais, and mentors. Bakugo’s character development is honestly one of the best in the series.

I’m glad to see that most of the 1-A kids are ok. Tired and emotionally drained AF, but they’re ok. We haven’t gotten panels of characters like Kaminari, Tokoyami, Jiro, or Iida (or Hawks for that matter), but my best guess is that they’re either visiting other students and/or mentors or recovering based on what Sero (?) said “Todoroki and the others are conscious”.

Gran Tarino is STILL ALIVE! HOW??? Dude got his guts punched in and his leg crushed. I still think he’s going to die “Nighteye-style”, but I’m shocked he’s still alive now. Maybe after Deku wakes up to bring in even more pain.

Endeavor and Aizawa are ok. Aizawa’s conscious and still missing a leg (maybe even an eye). Present Mic is by his side and they both know about Midnight’s death. Despite that, though sad, Aizawa is worried about the kids first and foremost. Best teacher right there, my dudes.

And Shoto Todoroki... OH SHOTO 😭 MY BOY!!! He’s wrapped around in bandages and his throat has been burnt bad enough where he can’t talk HASN’T HE HAD ENOUGH??? (it’s been 2 days since the war ended btw). No showing of any new scars, but it sucks to see him in this state where he can’t even communicate his feelings to everyone when he needs to the most.

He’s thinking back on his battle with Dabi and thinks about how “He is me”. Shoto’s thinking that Dabi is what Shoto was pre-Sports Festival back when he was all emo, brooding, and filled with rage. It’s because of that and his Quirk that Shoto thinks he’s the only one who can stop his brother. Ugh, I hate the guilt that he’s putting on himself. NONE OF THIS IS SHOTO’S FAULT!!! I NEED TO HUG HIM PLS HORIKOSHI!!! *ahem* But, I hope this does allow Shoto to find some resolve in “saving” Dabi similar to how Deku saved him.

And Fuyumi and Natsuo show up. Based on a previous panel, they were trying to avoid the nosy press as much as they could since EVERYONE wants to know about Endeavor and his past. THANKS DABI, YOU MONOLOGUING ASS! I can’t imagine how hard it must be for them to have their lives spread out like this (especially Shoto since he was specifically called out BY NAME), but the fact that they still went all that way to see their little brother means a lot. Also, there’s a silhouette of someone behind Fuyumi and some people have guessed it’s their mom, Rei Todoroki based on Shoto’s shocked expression. If that is the case, then maybe we were wrong; maybe seeing Dabi gave her strength to support her family instead of breaking her down. God, I would cry so much if that happens. Damn guys, I love one loving but very, very, VERY damaged family 💙

And the last scene we get is Bakugo marching his way to Deku’s hospital room despite everyone’s protests. Who the hell thinks they can hold down Katsuki Bakugo for even a minute??? That kid’s going to see his friend/rival even if it kills him! But, Deku’s still unconscious. Full-body cast with All Might by his side. He's showing no signs of waking up either. It makes sense though. The amount of pain that Deku put himself through would be enough to knock a man out for a whole week, I bet. When he does wake up though, I wonder what kind of talk him and Bakugo will have. Now THAT I wanna see!

TL;DR: Lot’s of emotions, lots of angst, the aftermath chapter. All in all, PAIN

There was once a tumblr rant about All For One being Deku's dad, comparing tons of small details about Darth Vader and AFO that make it seem like such a great theory! They had pics and everything. I would totally link it here but sadly, I can not find it. I use to think it seemed far fetched but he got me to really doubt that.

None the less, Horikoshi-Sensei is obviously inspired by Darth Vader.

Gran Tarino is obviously Yoda.

BNHA Act Parallels and Predictions

So it's pretty clear at this point that Horikoshi is really playing up the parallels in this final act of the manga from past chapters, which I think is really cool and interesting. Given the parallels we've already seen, it has me thinking about what parallels we're likely to see in the upcoming chapters. This is a prediction post for those parallels!

A couple of notes first:

I'm going to focus on parallels between the current Act 3, starting from Ch. 306 ("The Final Act Begins") and Act 1, which ended around Ch. 95 ("The End of the Beginning, the Beginning of the End"). For the sake of this post, though, I'm going to lump Ch. 96 and 97 in.

I'll start with the Act 3 prediction, then pair it with what I think it parallels. It'll appear as Act 3 prediction = Act 1 parallel. Anything in parenthesis are my additional thoughts on the parallel.

I'll start with parallels that have already happened, then continue with my predictions in no particular order. I'll update the post as I have more predictions or as predictions are revealed one way or another.

If a prediction comes true, I'll put it in bold letters. If it proves false, I'll cross it out. If a prediction is unfolding or happening in a similar but not exact way, I'll italicize it.

These predictions, in no way, say anything about how I personally feel about these events happening. Feel free to discuss the likelihood of them happening, but I don't consider this a discussion on whether or anything should happen.

Given the parallels, I also believe that the manga will wrap up somewhere around Ch. 400. That's not really important to this post, I just wanted to throw that in.

Alright, here we go!

Izuku leaves UA = Izuku enrolls in UA

"A giant villain" when we first see Vigilante!Izuku = "A giant villain" pre-hero!Izuku

Inko pushes back against Izuku leaving UA = Inko pushes back against Izuku returning to UA

All Might reaches for Izuku as he leaps away = Izuku reaches for All Might as he leaps away

Deku has an important fight at Kamino = All Might has an important fight at Kamino

AFO says "Now it's your turn" = All Might says "Now it's your turn"

AFO sends a projected message to Izuku = All Might sends a projected message to Izuku

After the 3rd Deku and Bakugo fight, OFA will be revealed to the world = Bakugo learned about OFA after the previous two fights

All Might arrives after the 3rd Deku and Bakugo fight = All Might arrived after the previous two fights

Dad for One Reveal = Shigaraki is Nana Shimura's grandson reveal

Izuku is captured by the LOV = Bakugo is captured by the LOV

Izuku is rescued by a small group of friends = Bakugo is rescued by a small group of friends. (As an extra note, I believe this will also parallel Yoichi's rescue by 2nd and 3rd, so I believe at least Bakugo and Kirishima will rescue Izuku from some sort of vault.)

Izuku loses OFA = Izuku gains OFA (I believe OFA will need to be destroyed in order to defeat AFO.)

Deku defeats AFO at a cost = All Might defeated AFO at a cost (This might be OFA itself, which could lead to Deku also saying, "Goodbye, One for All." It could also be at the cost of his arms since All Might also paid a physical toll.)

Uraraka and Izuku save each other = Izuku and Uraraka saved each other at the exam (Given that Izuku defeated a large robot to save her, I wonder if Gigantomachia will reappear.)

The final battle with LOV happens at UA = First battle with LOV happened at UA.

Important All Might and Izuku moment at the beach = All Might gives OFA to Izuku at the beach and devotes himself to teaching Izuku at the beach (I think this moment is likely to happen near the end of the entire manga.)

Iida punches Izuku for having a bad idea = Iida punched Izuku when he wanted to be reckless with saving Bakugo.

Heroics returns to its origins of community service = All Might had Izuku clean the beach since heroics used to be about community service

"Your admiration for All Might is a shackle" to reference Izuku's reckless behavior = Same quote from Gran Tarino to point out how Izuku is stuck with OFA

Stain saying Deku is worthy = Stain saying All Might is worthy

Todoroki and Izuku have a power combat moment = Todoroki and Izuku power moment at the Sports Festival

Izuku saves All Might with support from Bakugo = Izuku saved All Might with support from Bakugo (I actually imagine this could/will manifest in several ways as it's happened several times with the sludge villain, the Nomu, Kamino Ward, etc.)

"I couldn't just watch you die" to someone, maybe All Might = "I couldn't just watch you die" to Bakugo

Bakugo will show respect to Deku as a hero = Bakugo says Izuku can never be a hero/he didn't save him from the sludge villain

Deku "I must remember my origin" = All Might "I must remember my origin"

The First

Here is sneak peek for a fic I am thinking of writing. Comment if you think I should continue. Anyway, enjoy!

Would include: Kinda A/B/O (later), Aizawa fic, lots of Dadzawa, fluff, tooth rotting fluff, a smidge of smut, but it would smutty smut, probably gonna throw some other ships in there, Eri eventual shows up.

“Glad you are here, Easer. We need you to take a look at something we found in Camino.” Gran Tarino leads the way through winding concrete halls. “As you know, several nomu’s were found and captured. That we were counting on, what we didn’t expect was this,” he opens the door to a small room. In one corner is a small cot, the room otherwise empty.

“An empty room?”

“On the bed”

As Aizawa looks closer he notices a small figure curled up under the blanket. Two small calico ears poke up above the covers. With a nod from Gran Tarino, Aizawa slowly enters the room. The ears flick in his direction. The covers begin to move and the face of a cat appears. The cat eyes Aizawa cautiously. Aizawa stepped closer. In a flash, the cat bolts upright and begins to hiss.

“I don’t understand. The cat is a nomu?”

The cat backs away from Aizawa, jumping off the bed. Only the cat didn’t land on the ground.

“Not the cat. Her.”

A young girl lands in place of the cat, crouching in the corner. She has dark brown hair and hazel green eyes. Her skin is pale and scarred, deep lines running across her shoulders. She watches him warily as he lowers himself down to her level.

“Vishnu Shimura, sister to Tenko Shimura. And as far as we can tell, one of the first nomu,” Gran Tarino states. Gran Tarino comes to stand near Aizawa. “Vishnu, come here,” he calls. The girl edges around the room, staying as far away from Aizawa as possible. She comes to sit at Gran Tarino’s feet. He lifts her hair up, exposing the back of her neck. Aizawa leans over to see better. At the base of her skull a small loop of wires protrudes from the skin.

“These wires contain the DNA of several people. With their DNA connected to her spinal cord, she is able to use their quirks. The wires also shut down her body's limiters and take off some of the load of the quirks. The limiters in her brain tell her when something is too much. With the limiters shut down, it’s easy for her to push her body beyond its capabilities.”

“So how many quirks does she have?” Aizawa asks.

“Over four dozen and we haven’t finished analyzing them all.”

Aizawa gives a small grunt in acknowledgement. After a long pause Gran Tarino clears his throat. “We need someone to look after her. That would be you, Easer.”

Aizawa shakes his head. “No. Surely there is someone more suited to the task.”

It’s Gran Tarino’s turn to shake his head. “You are the only one. Trust me. She will be leaving with you today.”

In chapter 281, Gran Torino has a flashback of when Nana puts Koutarou into foster care. Right before he is seemingly killed he thinks "Shimura, our choice was-". He says "our" rather than "your" choice, and he is shown comforting her also. Also, he thinks this right after he thinks about Shigaraki's statement (that he heard from Koutarou) that heroes only hurt their families. So: could Gran Torino have been Koutarou's biological father? Earlier in the series, it was stated that Nana placed

Koutarou into foster care after her husband was killed. However, it was never confirmed if her husband was actually the kid's dad.

I really don't think there’s a chance of this, sorry! There's no narrative or thematic point to it; it’s just a twist for the sake of one. I think Nana's husband is Koutarou's dad.

Gran Tarino is Nana's mentor, like a father figure to her. Especially if her husband had already been killed at this point, it makes a ton of sense for Nana to turn to her mentor for advice. Unfortunately, it’s bad advice even if well-intentioned. Nana would never have guessed that Gran Torino would want to exterminate her grandson, and I doubt she’d want that to happen.

The tragic irony of Gran Torino’s death is that he ends up proving exactly what Shigaraki was screaming: that heroes hurt their own family. He’s hurting Nana, but he’s too stuck in his own way of thinking to realize. That Shigaraki killed him is awful, but he really just wants to have his pain acknowledged, and no one is doing that. Gran Torino embodies the old way of heroes and hasn’t shown any propensity to change, unlike Endeavor, soooo. It is symbolic that Shigaraki destroys him.

However, there is someone who will almost certainly end up understanding and saving Shigaraki:

Haha parallels are fun~

Lol, what if All Might sees Deku fighting Shigaraki and like has a heart attack or smth. Then Eri would get scared and use her quirk to rewind All Might, and ends up rewinding him to his healthy state. Then he leaves her with Mirio and goes to the battle. Deku ends up getting hurt real bad so All Might takes over. Deku tries to help, but is taken away by Gran Tarino, just like he did with decades ago when Nana fought AFO. All Might ends up defeating Shigaraki, but dying fatally like Sir Nighteye said he would.

So then years later,(bc Horikoshi said he wanted to see them in their adult years) we see Deku as a top pro hero. Then there’s a jailbreak and Shigaraki gets out and they have the REAL defining battle of AFO vs OFA. Haha and just imagine that after this battle both end up dying and that is the end of both quirk lines. Then we hear that iconic quote, “This is the story of how I became the world’s greatest hero”, but its not how he usually says it. The line is delivered with a solemn, yet peaceful tone,like its finally over. HAHAHA that would never happen......

to go off of that tag ump post: hawks really is aware of his position he has with the commission. post-nomu fight and after speaking with dabi ... his expression in the panels while he thinks back to the mission is incredible forlorn. his face is shadowed, he’s drawn looking at an unease. then when it shows what he’s thinking, his reaction to the mission is immediately shock. he shows signs of wanting to reject it and expresses his confusion because “ there’s a search already right? with gran tarino and them? ” and immediately the head goes to explaining why they want him to. he’s got sharp ears and eyes, perfect for gathering intel for them and when he further shows his adamancy towards it, with what lives in my head rent free: “ what about people they hurt while i’m infiltrating? do i just turn a blind eye to that? ” it’s immediately met with a you can and you will. set your sights upon the long game. this get followed later with another panel later of them calling it a ‘suggestion’ and in reply he’s darkly joking “suggest it? funny calling it a suggestion when it’s an offer i can’t refuse. shame on you. ”

he’s aware he’s at their beck and call, has been, will be. breaking away from that is possible, but when you were put into that as young as a child and had your dreams become reality, it seems pointless to strive or even retain a conscious desire for it. it exists subconsciously : to break away and pursue something else, but hawks sees it as a lost concept because really he doesn’t know what else to be besides the gilded hero. if he’d have had it his way, he would be happy with being a lower ranking hero like he mentioned. be at ease with having more free time and helping when it’s necessary --- not going on a deep dive into enemy territory, but he hasn’t fancied those ideas in years. he sees himself as their tool and acts accordingly because it does align with his concept of wanting to protect others and ease their troubles. however, that mindset was also further perpetuated by the commission, too, because he never would’ve gained a ‘for the greater good’ and martyr complex if he wasn’t at their disposal. subconsciously he is aware and pessimistic about this, but the warpped conscious bred by the commission and gained sense of obligation and duty reigns supreme.
