Spending Guy Fawkes’ Night at home this year rather than going out to a public firework display (or having a bonfire party with friends), but there’s enough people holding firework displays in their gardens for us to watch and enjoy 😊 Favourite night of the year for me ❤️🍂🎇🔥🎆
one detail that’s too often left out of the narrative of bonfire night is that when guy fawkes was first arrested he gave the authorities the most pathetic excuse for a fake name ever when he told them that he was called john johnson

I'm so happy they're doing bonfire night on the qsmp, a win for the brits and a chance for the members to burn the shit out of cucurucho effigies as a big fuck you to the federation <3
A historic plaque marks Guy Fawkes's birthplace in York. According to legend he leapt off the scaffold and broke his neck before being drawn and quartered, thus escaping the grisly fate of his co-conspirators.
also as a southerner I feel the need to repeat what Phil said: it really varies from person and town to town about what gets burned on guy fawkes night - like some places burn a Guy, a lot of places around here just do a bonfire and don't burn a Guy, some towns burn a guy in a suit to represent our current parliament, it sort of depends how anti-parliament the place currently is.
Our local display has a regular bonfire without a Guy and a BUNCH of fireworks and little carnival games, and I'm so so so happy that this is being celebrated on the qsmp by allowing the islanders to try and succeed where guy failed hell yes, fully in the spirit of things and I love love this!!
