Idea for writers

I’m thinking Deadpool and Spider-Man have a kid and it’s the reader, so they’re like a mix in between them. Super funny, yet super serious when need be, but they have more DP in their blood so they can heal like him.

Their suit is Spider-Man themed but also incorporating the DP mercenary look with combat boots, utility belt, and dual swords.

Anyway, one day they gets angry or something happens and punches a wall and their entire hand shatters. They doesn’t scream, cry, nothing. They only sigh as their hand slowly heals over, and when they turn around their Special Spider stands behind them worried and scared.

"My father won't like that you're reading those case files, you know Y/n." My cousin Gwen Stacy scolds as we walked the halls to our lockers in the high school. Flipping through the pages I ignored her warning leaning my back against my locker as she grabbed her books for science class. Scanning over these unsolved cases gave me the excitement to become a police officer like my uncle who was her father the police chief. "It just interests me Gwen. I don't really see a problem. Besides you like science-" Someone leans up behind on the lockers closing the folder in my hands annoying me. "If I didn't know any better I'd say you're more interested in those pictures then me." Rolling my eyes hearing the voice of my ex Flash. Glaring up at him I scoffed starting to walk away.

He grabs my wrist stopping me where I almost fell on my butt hearing my shoes shrieking against the tile floor. Gwen holds her books to her chest as he spun me back to face him still holding me. "Hey, I'm talking to you babe." I try yanking my arm from his grip but he's stronger than me. "I'm not your babe anymore, Flash. Now let me go." People started to gather around us. Around school I was known as the girl who always needs saving. I used to be tougher but after the tragic thing with my parents I've changed. Gwen's parents were more than happy to let me live with them, treating me as if I was their second daughter. "I don't see why you think we're over Y/n." He pulls me closer to him where I try squirming from his hold. A few seconds later Someone broke through the crowd speaking to the high school Jock. "She said let her go, Flash." Flash shoves me backwards into the lockers making me groan.

"Oh yeah and what are you gonna do about it, Parker?" Flash taunted as the boy with brown hair that is slightly curly. I don't know who he is all I know is he keeps to himself. He knows chemistry pretty well. Gwen comes over helping me to my feet as the boy dropped his backpack on the ground and a skateboard. Standing his ground Flash tried to take a swing at him but he ducked. The Parker boy advanced shoving him up against the lockers on the other side of the room. "She doesn't deserve to be treated like that!" Parker wasn't as fit as him but he held him tough like he had super strength or something. He dropped Flash before a teacher entered the halls telluride us to get to class. Gwen eyed the boy as I bend down grabbing my bag searching around for my uncle's folder. "Are you looking for this miss?" Parker holds it out for me in his left hand holding his skate board in his other hand with a smile.

My fingers brushed against his taking it from him smiling back. Standing I started turning seeing him following me to science class. "Thanks for the save back there, Parker." He rubbed the back of his neck feeling embarrassed. Most girls didn't find him attractive because he wasn't like Flash so he didn't have many people to talk to. "No problem. Flash is a jerk to me too. So I felt I should step in." He holds the door opened for me but I pause in the doorway realizing I never caught his name. "By the way what's your name?" He nervously answered staring at me where I saw he had brown eyes. "Peter. Peter Parker, you?" I take a seat and he sits behind me where I turned around before our teacher began talking. "Y/n, Y/n Amber's."

why yes of course Castle, I'd love for you to lore/idea share!! But only if you excuse the lore/art dump im about to drop on here for mine!!

I wanted to take the gwen stacey approach to spidersona's but obviously playing into the self-insert fun aspect of it as well! So we have my oc Jane Johanna Jamerson - niece/ ward of James Jonah Jamerson talking head and head of the Daily Bugle.

Jane is this worlds MJ, Harvey Oswald is this worlds Harry Osborne and of course you have Peter Parker because I wanted a trio in a spiderstory again!

Jane lives with her uncle because of circumstances and got bitten by a spider from Oscrops research when her, peter and Harvey were all playing in the main research building, because Norman Osborne let them play in his office whilst he was in a meeting and they went and explored - thats how she got her powers.

Most of the villains in this universe are a result of escaped Oscorp experiments or intervention form the company, so you have Curt Conners as Lizard obviously, but the Vulture is less tech inclined in this universe and more infected by Oscorp with modified vulture DNA - yes that means he has a twinge of cannibalism in this version! Rhino was tech-inclined at first but ended up taking his 'mysterious benefactor' aka Norman Osborne up on his offer to become a super solider the likes of which the world hasn't thought to create since Captain America. (the universe is set just before cap awakens from his ice nap so he's nothing more than history at the start of Lumo's journey)

Jane is called Lumo-Spider because of my recent obsession with Zinc Oxide, which is luminescent at room temperature and so I wanted her to have glowy webs, and so i decided that her spider had zinc oxide production as one of its unknown but mundane mutations - so Lumo's webs both glow in darker spaces but also have really good conductivity based on temperature! Which means she's accidentally lethal to those that get caught in the crosshairs of her and Electro's fights in the winter.

She got bitten around age 12 and exhibited signs of the X-gene (actually the spider mutations) so Jamerson sent her off to be evaluated by Xaviour's school for gifted children, where they quickly concurred she was an artificial mutant - similar to deadpool or Wolverine where she didn't posess the X-gene but outside forces had forced her body to accommodate what should have been handled by the x-gene causing adverse side effects. For her its not being able to control her abilities. Her uncle is under the assumption that she's simply got super strength and that's the limitations because the school help her cover her other abilities and spider-like mannerisms up because she -and the school- are worried that her uncle might disown her, and she's one of the only 'mutant' children that seems to have a supporting family willing to keep their child and nobody wants to risk that.

Oscorp starts being the villains after Lumo's first spin around new york. I'm thinking she was training part time to control her powers so the x-men gave her a training suit that she personalised with her friends help (because i know in some of the cartoons, and older comics i have that students at the school got their own x-men suits as like a 'pe uniform' even if they weren't going out into the field) and they came to the conclusion that a competitor stole their feasible spider mutation and made their own super soldier and decide to try and capture Lumo to figure out who she works for.

Her canon event doesn't happen till she's eighteen, when she finds Peter Parker mauled to death by the Lizard and Vulture, after her uncle sends Peter out to cover a prison break case and tells him not to come back without pictures, putting him in the crosshairs. It's what forces her to break free form her uncles side because he considers lumo 'worse than the x-men' because she's just another law breaking vigilante but she can't even keep other mutated from killing NY citizens and she can't ever imagine her telling him turning out well and now he's 'gotten peter killed'.

Harvey ends up being the Green Goblin rather than Hobgoblin here, but i could literally do an entire post just on ideas for Harvey.

Also the second picture is my FAVOURITE idea for this spidersona.

Little 14 year old Jane getting seriously injured and for the first time in the 2 years she's been fighting not knowing how to hide it, not knowing how she's supposed to keep this hidden, especially since she's got two massive facial injuries, who got hurt before she put the suit on and had just enough time to change back before she was found by rescue teams because she was in a half-collapsed building.

Jamerson is on the ground reporting for this one because it's Lumo's most destructive fight yet and he's prepping with his cameraman going on a rant when the camerman points Jane out to him and all Jamerson can see when he sees his niece - who should be at home, oh god she'd been walking home from SCHOOL when the attack started, to be bleeding this badly she must have been caught in it from the beginning, why hadn't he thought to phone her to make sure she was okay!?- is the seven year old girl who he had to take in because there was nobody left who could - or would do it properly.

What do you think of the "death" of Kamala Khan controversy? Armaan Babu at ComicsXF wrote a great article comparing it with ATSV and I read your piece on LG&M on the movie which didn't mention it.

To be honest, I haven't really been reading much recent Kamala Khan stuff - I subscribed to G. Willow WIlson's run but not the Saladin Ahmed run and I think the most recent thing of hers I read was the Dark Web tie-in oneshot - so I didn't know she was dead.

I normally like Zeb Wells' work, but I think this is a pretty retrograde move to horn Kamala Khan into Gwen Stacey's worn-out shoes. Then again, I have not been happy with the direction of the Spider books in general (although I did enjoy the X-Men tie-ins to Dark Web).

My suspicion, and Armaan and Lia's articles note that I'm not the only one, is that this is going to be resolved by having Kamala resurrect on Krakoa mutant and proud - thus smoothing out the rough join between her comics iteration and her MCU iteration.

If that is the case, it's some pretty clumsy editorially- and commercially-driven mandating. However, unlike Armaan and Lia, I don't think anyone will care in the long run.

Her MCU origin story is already a giant mess, because no one was going to do the Inhumans thing after the rights issues were resolved, but the Clandestines/djinn thing was IMO the worst part of the Disney+ show, which also hedged its bets by making her a mutant and her bangle somehow tied in with Captain Marvel/the Kree and The Marvels movie.

By contrast, changing her from an Inhuman to a mutant in the comics is a straightforward change that can only improve her visibility now that the X-books are big again and the Inhumans basically don't exist any more.

Does it suck that it happened in Peter Parker's book and not Kamala Khan's book? Yes. Are stories driven by diktats from corporate about IP creatively bankrupt? Usually, but I'll point out that G. Willow Wilson was working within the boundaries set down by Ike Perlmutter when she created Kamala Khan as an Inhuman.

My day started normal enough, but by the end I was fighting Molten Man in a building engulfed in flame.

The crumbling building made my throat tighten and constrict. Fortunately, one of Stephen Strange's portals appeared before me. I swiftly launched myself through it, hoping someone else could subdue Molten Man while I recovered.

"Thanks, Strange, I thought I was done for"

Then when I looked up to two kids around my age standing and staring at me.

"Ned, I said think of Spider-Man, not bring a cosplayer here?"

Confused, I turned back, but the portal had closed, leaving me in a room with two strangers.

Somewhere, across the multiverse...

Peter watched as the unstable building finally came down on itself. The interior structure completely destroyed. Still there was no sign of of his favorite Spider anywhere.

He quickly snapped a few photos for the Daily Bugle and circled the collapsed building, desperate to find any sign of his lover making it out. But hope seemed elusive.

Back on Earth-616...

"You've got to send me back home, Ned. Peter's going to be worried sick"

After introductions and two failed attempts to find this universe's Peter Parker, the situation felt increasingly hopeless.

"I think we have bigger problems here then that" MJ was frustrated, but you couldn't handle the rude remarks a second longer.

"Fine, then I'll figure it out myself." Before I could storm out, the Spider-Man closest to me grabbed my hand and spun me back around.

"That's not a good idea. Let's all calm down and figure out a solution that helps everyone." He slipped off his mask, revealing a face exactly like my Peter's.

"Peter?" Silently slipping your mask off to stare directly into his brown eyes.

"Y/n?"

On Earth-120703...

Someone who looks exactly like you is fast asleep in bed curled up in their Peter Parker's hoodie.

Back on Earth-616...

After a confusing conversation and much back-and-forth, Peter-3 and I finally understood each other.

Instead of me getting bitten at Oscorp, Peter Parker was. We barely knew each other at the time, exchanging small waves and smiles in the hallway. In both universes, our lover, Gwen Stacey, fell to her death. We were there to pick up each other's broken pieces.

As we worked together to cure the Lizard, the similarities between us were mind-boggling—reaching for the same things, laughing at familiar jokes.

Both of the other Spider-Men smiled at the wholesome interaction.

After an amazing battle on the scaffolding of the Statue of Liberty's reconstruction, everything seemed well until MJ fell off the side.

Putting years of trauma aside, Peter and I both jumped to save her. I caught her with a web, and Peter caught her to swing her to safety. A tearful moment passed between Peter and MJ before she hugged me as well.

Staring at each other, I jumped into Peter's arms, understanding the second chance we were given. We could practically feel Gwen hugging us both.

"I guess this is goodbye, Y/n," Peter-3 said, already disappearing to return to his home.

"We should do this again sometime."

"I would like that."

"Go home, Bugboy." He smiled as he faded away into his own universe, and I into mine.

On Earth-120703...

Swinging through the streets of New York with the Autumn air rushing past him he finally swung onto the fire escape of your shared apartment.

You stirred as he made his way into bed and held you close.

"Welcome home Bugboy"

In my universe...

I stood in the cool ashes of the once-standing building, then sprang into action, looking for Peter Parker.

Finding him writing furiously on a bench in the quiet part of Central Park, I walked up and sat down.

"So, what's up?"

He looked up from his notes with a shocked expression. Quickly, his brows furrowed, and he started lecturing me about letting him know I was safe and how the police told him to wait 24 hours before filing a report.

I kissed his lips gently, relaxing his features.

"I missed you too."

I have a question and my English is not the best but I was watching a video on tropes on YouTube and they mention fridging “stuff in the refrigerator” and how is basically a dismissive form of writing to uplift usually a male character is that what happens to aunt may cause there is a difference between character death like Ironman and then what happen to aunt may they also said gwen Stacey was also fridge mainly in the comics than her movie counterpart ask you cause you are English teacher

I had to look up this “fridging,” and it sounds to me like this term is simply applying one of the commonest plot devices in all of western literature to comic books. Helen of Troy from the 8c BCE Iliad is an archetype. Violence against female characters, who themselves have no arc or real characterization, for the sake of motivating or teaching male protagonists is pervasive across all media still. In the last ~50 years there’s been more and more feminist writers who have retold old stories from those female characters’ perspectives, thus trying to course correct. And there’s more writing by and about women now more than ever. But until we have an equal number of movies, novels, comic books etc etc that center female characters, it’s gonna continue to be a problem.

Generally speaking, I don’t love the way “tropes” are usually discussed outside of literary studies because people tend to use that word extremely imprecisely and also treat the tropes as themselves the culmination of thinking and reflecting.

But it can be fun to start with this idea of the fridging plot device and see not just if it’s present but how it plays out in any specific story.

In Spidey’s particular story, the murder of Uncle Ben, a dude, traditionally serves as a motivator and teaching moment for Peter Parker. So it’s he who is usually fridged, and as far as I can tell the term loses its original meaning/significance when the gender is swapped. It’s just not the same when we objectify male characters since irl men still hold all the levers of power in the western world.

BUT I’d argue that in the MCU and Home trilogy, it’s Tony Stark who replaces Uncle Ben as Peter’s father figure. He’s clearly not fridged (he dies once he’s completed his full arc across many films).

So by NWH the MCU still needed someone to die to teach Peter that “with great power there must also come great responsibility” and to motivate Peter to become the stoic hero. Having enriched the father figure well beyond the film predecessors, but having killed him off in his own character arc, they gave Watts an underdeveloped female character, whose role (no matter the few lines about helping her community) was mainly reduced to her surprising, unconventional sexiness. Hot May is swapped in for Uncle Ben mostly to titillate boomers/gen X (??) viewers and teach Peter his hero lessons and then to die to trigger his anger and remorse and his next chapter. I’d say it was an especially egregious instance of fridging.

I don’t know anything about the comic books or Gwen or May there. Maybe @lila-rae or @artsimpourtzi can weigh in?
