Heartslabyul: Riddle's ultimate "scary move" has no affect on our plain human MC. could literally just get him angry enough to distract him then tackle the smol bean

Savanaclaw: Just offer Leona to take the responsibilities of Dorm Leader but he still gets to control all the dorm sports. (Also must offer lap nap privileges)

Octanvinelle: MC waits till Floyd's in a mood and offers to get Jade new terrariums. MC's outsmarted Azul before and can do it again, the eels are the wildcards.

Scarabia: Kalim could probably be convinced of anything, bless his heart. The trouble is making sure to keep Jamil as vice warden and take some of his workload please this overworked boy-

Ignihyde: Idia, if challenged might fight for it and give MC some trouble, he's got a competitive streak after all. But the moment its presented as a way for him to get out of socializing he 200% will pronounce MC Dorm leader and run away at Mach 3. (It won't hurt to offer playtime with Grimm too)

Something I don't see talked about in regards to Bal and Amb's healing/forgiveness arc:

As we all know, Ambrosius (unlike his comic counterpart) is really sorry about severing Ballister's arm. It was largely an accident, but he feels awful about it pretty much from the moment it happened (I know that in the comic he feels bad, but he doesn't say so)

However, also unlike his comic counterpart, Boldheart isn't actually angry with Ambrosius about the arm. At no point does he express resentment or hostility in regards to that specific incident, if anything, it just made him anxious of Ambrosius rather than angry (evidenced by him pulling back his hand reflexively after seeing Ambrosius at the institute)

Boldheart is angry with Ambrosius, though. Not for his arm, but for failing to hear him out, for believing the Director over him, for repeatedly and entirely misjudging his character.

And what's interesting to note is that Ambrosius is not clearly sorry for those things (at least not during the movie, it can be assumed he was sorry after)

When Ballister meets him in the Antlered Serpent, he tells Ambrosius he has 30 seconds to explain himself. When Ambrosius says this is unreasonable, Ballister says "Why? It's more than you gave me," but Ambrosius is defensive. He doesn't say he's sorry, he says "That's not fair."

He is more like his comic counterpart than people realize in that when it came to the thing Ballister was actively upset about, he became defensive, he felt he was justified, he didn't apologize. Yes, he apologized for the arm, but that didn't seem to matter to Ballister. He needed him to apologize for the emotional betrayal more than for a reflexive physical action.

I think a lot of people portray Ballister as an UwU smol bean who would forgive Ambrosius wholly and immediately because he was never upset with him in the first place, to which I reiterate, he was never upset about the arm. He was proper fucking pissed at him at the Antlered Serpent even before Ambrosius started accusing Nimona of shit. Even when Bal thought Ambrosius was actually going to finally be on his side, he was thankful and obviously still loved him, but he was wary and prickly. Then Ambrosius proceeded to, for the Nth time, not believe him again.

Similarly, a lot of people portray Ambrosius as super apologetic, utterly unproblematic, and regarding himself as being entirely in the wrong and of a "Bal can do no wrong" attitude which is really not what we see in the film.

And this, to me, makes their relationship more compelling because it shows how these two must have worked and grown to be able to trust each other again.

Question. How do you think the TFP bots each find the squishies that are humans look. Like aesthetically. Which ones find them cute or gross or funny looking? Cause in the Scraplet episode, Ratchet said “Typically I find your fleshiness your least engaging qualities.” Meaning that Ratchet find the humans gross to some extent, meaning that the Autobots does have aesthetic opinions about the humans. And it seems like everyone got different opinions. So what’s your head canon for each of their opinions?

Ooooooh now this is a question I will happily answer!

Ratchet: His views on humans and squishies in general is summed up to GROSS. He sees humans as essentially a bunch of organs in a poorly made plastic bag walking around on stilts. They are worse than hairless cats in his optics. They may be nice enough, but he would prefer to poke them with sticks or handle them with a hazmat suit if given a choice. He's warmed up to them, but will never find them particularly appealing. Interesting? Yes. Appealing? Primus no.

Bumblebee: Bumblebee thinks humans are a little unsettling, but he appreciates them in the way one would a pet tarantula. He can find something to see as appealing in them, although as a general rule he is not particularly enthralled with them. He is fond of human eyes, largely because their pupils dilate a great deal like how his optics cycle. He also finds it fascinating how many colors humans can have their eyes up being.

Arcee: She sits in the same boat as Ratchet for the most part. However she has one aspect of humanity that she is surprisingly fond of. She thinks human hair is quite "cute" in a sense. It reminds her somewhat of stories of Solus and she has always found it fun how humans can style their hair in so many unique ways. She has even gone so far as to ask June to teach her how to braid hair simply because Arcee also finds the texture of hair to be facinating.

Bulkhead: His thoughts on humanity can be summed up simply with: Smol Beans. He thinks they are adorable in the way one would look at a mouse and think it cute. Sure humans can do gross things like execrate and create strange internal liquids and sounds, but they are just so small. He can't help but find that fact appealing.

Wheeljack: He is neither grossed out or really invested in humans. He could care less what they look like. He's been everywhere and seen everything, so very little bothers him anymore when meeting new races. He does think that human teeth are interesting though. Cybertronians have their own version of the mouth bones, but humans growing the mouth bones and then having a few sets of them is something he just thinks is rather inspiring.

Smokescreen: He... doesn't like humans. He's in Ratchet's boat, but he's a lot less tactful in his outward reactions. His first few weeks on Earth involved a lot of gagging at humans as a whole. Squishies are not his cup of tea, but he's learned to handle it for the most part. So long as the squishes are clothed reasonably, he can pretend they are armored and ignore the fact that they are walking bags of bits and bone.

Optimus: He doesn't mind humanity. He doesn't think they are physically appealing in any real regard, but he admires their minds. Such small creatures holding hope and intellect on par with the more technological races is something he finds impressive. He also holds an appreciation for their voices simply because they are clear and without complication. It is new, and for that reason he finds it beautiful in a sense.

Ultra Magnus: He doesn't like humans. Period. He tolerates them for the sake of the team and negotiations, and he may be appreciative of human comrades and friends. But the species as a whole? He is not fond of them. He is largely more confused than anything else. He has no idea how such a fleshy and delicate species lasted so long. But he has largely shrugged it off and moved on with life.

The first time you cussed, Alastor didn't let you have dessert after dinner. "A proper child would never curse."

Playdates with Fat Nuggets.

First time Alastor threatened to eat the pig in front of you, you began crying. "Don't eat him!"

He's shocked because he's never seen you cry before and proceeds to try and calm you down. "Please settle down mon petit, I was only joking! Do stop crying."

You don't call him anything else but his name.

He calls you by your name, little one or my little one in french: mon petit.

Alastor teaches you how to cook. Mostly breakfast meals.

You have a little apron for cooking and baking.

Niffty teaches you how to bake.

You follow Husk around because he reminds you of a cat you used to feed when alive.

Husk teaches you how to cheat at card games.

You nap a lot, sleep just happens. Its not uncommon to see Alastor carrying you back to your room.

Reasons for being in Hell? I actually don't know but its a long list.

You don't like to talk about your human life.

Charlie likes you.

Vaggie isn't sure if your ok to be around.

Stuffed animals, demon dolls, or voodoo dolls. You have them and play with them sometimes. Once you pretended that one was torturing the other. "Let's put the voltage up!"

I'm currently looking at Lucifer and wondering how exactly he's going to develop in the whole plot of Hazbin. Not necessarily PLOT development (example: getting past Lilith, getting closer to Charlie, etc.), more like personality traits that are either going to be revealed or developed overtime.

(Okay this got a lot longer than I expected, so um... here's a read more lol. I guess this is a sort of character development inference...?)

I really like the idea that every character in Hazbin has good and bad traits, despite being in Heaven or Hell. For example, we have Angel Dust. He's a nice person, but he does have problems opening up to people (understandable given his past), as well as giving into bad vices and pushing people away. So, we've seen Lucifer's tendencies of neglecting to connect with others, but being a good person and genuinely wanting connections, especially with his daughter.

HOWEVER, I am interested in whether or not they are going to do anything with the fact that he is the Sin of Pride. I've seen a few mention how the other Sins we've seen are a bit of the opposite of their sin. Ozzie is the Sin of Lust, but unlike how a lot of people would probably view the embodiment of lust, he values consent and can make genuine romantic connections. Queen Bee is Gluttony, but does care that people at her party do not overindulge to the point that they get hurt.

However, for many of the Sins so far, they do engage with their sins in their own way. Ozzie still does indulge in lust, just while caring for every party's consent (thank God he's not a Valentino. We love that for Ozzie). Queen Bee does indulge in vices like drinking and partying to what could be seen as a negative extent, with what seems to be her limit being that no one gets hurt. Otherwise, it seems to be fair game for her.

So, for Lucifer, I'm loving how we all see him as a total Smol Bean. So far, he is a total Smol Bean. However, I'm totally anticipating SOMETHING that might be like... a bombshell for our depressed blorbo's character. Specifically, that something may be a few prideful/narcissistic tendencies coming through. Like him trying to get more attention on himself, now that he's finally taken a step out of his workshop and gotten some attention from not only his daughter, but her friends.

He may not be like "YO I'M FUCKING AWESOME GUYS LOOK AT ME" sorta prideful, but maybe more of a "Guys I'm so awful and I feel horrible and I have so many problems give me comfort" sorta... well, not really prideful, but more so manipulative and attention seeking. Possibly without even knowing it, either, considering how him and Charlie seem similar in being well meaning so far. So, if he does development a sort of manipulative tendency in order to get attention towards him, he may not even realize that's what is happening. He might just think "I feel bad and have to complain. After all, I know my family and her friends can help cheer me up!"

I think it'd be pretty interesting, at least. Like, so far, Lucifer is the complete opposite of what you'd expect the Sin of Pride to be. He's depressed, self-conscious, and has probably been isolating himself from everybody that COULD give him attention for years. However, much like the other Sins are still the embodiment of what they represent, he's still the Sin of Pride. He probably still engages, or will develop ways to engage in traits you'd see in pride. So, him using his pre-existing traits, whether unintentionally or not, to get attention would be interesting to see. It'd still keep a lot of his character together while showing that he can still have flaws that are unlikeable. (It'd probably also put into perspective Charlie's line about him only really when he's bored or needs Charlie to do something. Like, it could be that he just isn't good at talking to people, including Charlie, but it could also be linked to his identity as the Sin of Pride if his personality does go this route).

Fuck it. How the boys would text except none of these are good and I’m making fun of all of them:

Sky: He doesn’t respond to anything in group chats unless he is directly asked to, instead he just reacts to everything with the heart emoji. That being said he’s the king of DMing you to talk about drama in the group chat well it’s happening. Responds to things with gifs.

Four: You’re either getting a single emote response or an essay, nothing in between. Also sends 100 texts every time he talks because he presses send whenever he’s done with a sentence. You have to mute him for your own sanity.

Time: Texts in complete “teenage internet lingo” from the 2000s. Think things like ROFL and LMK like he’s still using a flip phone and trying to save on letters. He’s also likes using one letter words and mixing numbers in (C U 2nite).

Wind: Texts just like Time but bump the timeline up to the 2010s. Just look up the Danny Gonzales video “The Tea”, that’s what he sounds like. He does ironically to make fun of Time but he’s not sure it’s working.

Warriors: Types like he’s writing a professional email all the time. It’s extremely off putting. Likes really old school memes and doesn’t get why Legend keeps telling him to stop sharing them.

Twilight: Types mostly normal but has early 2010s tumblr-isms peppered in. Stuff like pupper and smol bean. He also unironically uses the OwO emotes.

Wild: Like Wind his texting style was meant to be a joke but unlike Wind he can’t actually stop it anymore. He now unironically says poggers and cap. He also keeps saying nonsensical shit in hopes that it becomes some sort of inside joke or meme.

Legend: *read at 2:30am.* *Sends a meme to the group chat and says nothing else.* He also has a horrid habit of calling people to talk unprompted and he will hit you with the “I know you’re online answer me” text if you ignore him.

Hyrule: Types like a tiktoker. Also is a tiktoker. If he’s not doing that he’s playing Pictionary with the sheer amount of emojis he’s using. Keysmashes.

family au Headcanons: those brats probably snuck on a train once to district 12 because they wanted to see where their mom grew up. Do they succeed is up to whether Snow hired a good enough security team. To be fair these are the children of Coriolanus and Lucy Gray.

Xanthos would absolutely not be interested in stepping one foot out of the Capitol. He would be clinging to his mother terrified of everything that lies behind those borders. Janus, he would come along for the ride but as of going for his own curiosity, not really. The one you need to be watching out tho is Rosalyn and her partner in crime Augustus Dovecote. Inseparable those two and never up to anything good. She would absolutely be thrilled about everything her mother told her about like the meadow, the lake, the hob she used to perform at and all the snakes she would collect. 6 year old Rosie tho can’t do much, she can’t even reach the doorknob at home let alone count to 10 but give her at least 8 more years and she is out with the next train!

Possibly giving her father a heart attack along the way, panem will thank her 🥀

Fallout New Vegas

Benny:"so you telling me that u went all over mojave just to find me and you are scared to ask bartender for nukacola?" He will tease you for it, and be confused, like??? Curier is so strong and smart why are they so shy??? But Beni boi likes to talk so no problem he can easly talk to people if Coureir cant.

Arcade:"uhh sure?okay?" I feel like He was shy too when he was younger so he can relate. He probably still sometimes stresses before Talking to somone for first time, but its not that bad. He will probably think that Courier is scared of people due to past or something so he wont bring this topic up(even if they are just shy without reason)

Vuples:"if you are too scared to order a drink how are you going bring pride to Legion" if Courier gives him puppy eyes/accualy feel sad, he will loudly sign and order the drink for them. After that he will try to "train them out of this behiviour" (thats vulpes, dont expect anything wholesome) but if it really upsets Courier he will just silently hate it, but wont bring it into conversations

Raul:"yeah sure boss" he had younger sister okay, he knows how to behave like normal human being. He completly understands the idea of being too shy to do something. He will give them good words and support, but if somestuff really stressed them out hes not going to try to convince them. He would feel bad

Boone: "honey please its not that difficult" he will do it if Courier pays him in hugs later. In NCR military theres no people as shy as them. But its good becasue it makes Courier unique. Also how did Courier survive for such long time out in Mojave???(you'll never find out boone >:3)

Ulysses:"bruh you literally bombed whole City wym bestie"(for context when I played his dlc first time my English wasnt the best and I didnt completly understood what Ulysses was saing and I though that Courier bombed the Devide and Ulysses was his ex bf/Ex friend. And I know that Courier didnt really bomb anything but I stick to it because i found it funny lol). I feel like bartender would be spooked and give nukacola for free Just to get rid of Ulysses. He will say stuff like 'theese days you cant act like that, someone will use it aginst you' but thats all, he wont do anything about it really. Tbh he enjoys Courier looking like sad little puppy everytime they have to talk to anyone. (I need to do special post for my first theories/expirience with fnv its very funny)

Joshua:"sure love" this men will buy it in seconds. Hes impressed that after all this stuff Courier been thrue they are still smol shy bean.(but He will try to convert you to join his religon)

Butch:"loozer" he will make fun of Lone but He will order the drink for them. He will be like "soo is my little nerd too spooked to order some drinks??", he has Policy 'i can bully them but anyone else cant😎' so at least they have only one asshole that bullies other assholes

Charon:"okay" this men still has this weird mindset that he has to do everything Lone says to him:((( even if Lone is clearly treating him as normal human being. Give him some time his life was tough. He will probably find it cute that Lone is too shy to ask somone for drink even after all bs they been thrue. They still have this cute vibe from valut(at least thats what Charon says not me)

Paladin Danse:"soldier why you even want to drink that? Its full of sugar" hes more concerned about Sole drinking this fuild sugar than anything. I mean yeah sure He will help them but please drink water. :( (shut up dance nuka-cola good) Danse will find it silly how Sole is ready for anything but asking bartender for drink is too much

Preston:"sure thing babe! You want anything extra or only that?" So casual about that, doesnt even notice that Lone is shy. He notice only if Sole asks him that often. Wont do anything about it really, Lone wants to be shy and ask him for help? Then let be it, he is more than happy to help them out (he is the sweetest)

I'd love to see how you draw Field Mouse #6 and to know if you have some headcanons for him!

To be honest I kinda forgot about him. I got him confused for the stuttering mouse in episode 2 I think. Getting excited about developing more a disabled character. Disability is something I should look into. I only have experience with autism because that’s what I’ve got. But that’s for some other day because I looked up Field Mouse 6 he appears quite a fair bit later. Later then I thought because then I confused him with Field Mouse 2 in the 4th episode!

Field Mouse 2 was quite interesting. Instead of the usual blood thirsty psycho he seemed kinda likeable in a smol bean way. But then I remembered he died at the end of the episode so… kinda hard for him to appear in episode 6.

I rewatched episode 6 before drawing him. It’s quite iconic. Flower Hill’s Animal Games are a good backdrop. I really like the environmental design in the 90’s episodes, as a background artist. We also can’t forget the hedgehog waitress! The definition of Slay Gurl! Slay!

But to be honest, if I didn’t actively have Field Mouse 6 on my mind I would have forgotten about him again. I’m sorry. It’s just that Mulmangcho already serves the sadistic quotes and besides that Field Mouse 6 doesn’t have anything that sets him particularly apart from the previous two mice.

Mulmangcho is in a squirrel disguise if you were wondering.

Non the less, even thought it took me a while to come up with something for Field Mouse 6 I’m pretty pleased with the backstory I gave him. He’s half mouse half squirrel. Instead of him being some biological experiment, like @stju87 ‘s Saccharine, mixed species animals are just a thing. He comes from a town in Mouse Kingdom (that’s what I call the place mice come from) and his father was a squirrel who came to work as a builder. He married a local mouse and that’s how we got Field Mouse 6.

I will call him 6 for short. So 6 growing up struggled a lot with his gender and cultural identity.

He wasn’t accepted as a mouse. Getting bullied and isolated for being a lesser animal. His parents were like, we know it’s hard but you got to pull yourself by your bootstraps child. He didn’t like them very much from bringing him to life.

When became an adult he joined the military. The military looking for mixed species to work as spies (saves on make up costs). They wanted to infiltrate the Flower Hill army so they transitioned him into a male. Which he was surprisingly happy about. I thought it would be nice to have a happy transgender character that’s accepted for who they are.

Why did I make him trans masc? I dunno. We got a diversity of sexualities. Why not gender diversity?

He really likes life in the military. Living life as his preferred gender. Not being the only half squirrel. Getting looked up to as hero for doing something only a few others can. He’s still an asshole thanks to his childhood trauma though.

Kinda makes me want to write a short story about him now. LOL.

Hope you liked my head cannon. Do you have some head cannons for him? I’m also switching up my art style. Moving away from kemono and more towards a western cartoony style.

(Part 5/ Bonus part of 4)

Aight. After the last post I totally had to check myself because I was under the impression that Junkhearts was the only movie of Tom’s I hadn’t yet seen, but apparently there was another one called Three Way Junction, AND I found another cameo (someone add these and Hello Apartment on Tom’s wiki, I can’t figure out a way to edit tables on there) (Edit: Took care of it.) A few wonderful people got in touch with this info, PLUS a bootleg link to watch the 1984 production Tom was in!! Just, THANK YOU folks, and you bet your ass I watched everything. Let me talk a bit about that before I move on to the links.

Junkhearts (2011)- War vet very kindly offers homeless girl shelter in his house, but her bad crowd (including her bf, played by Tom) comes along and invades his life. Tom is a Northern Irish boy in this (complete with the accent) and is the kind of dude who would walk into a situation and abuse everyone and everything. It blows my mind that this irl smol bean did so many disturbing/disturbed characters and did them SO well. He really makes the angel-faced-devil thing work. This movie is dark, and deals with heavy matters like PTSD and drugs. Be advised. Good movie tho.

Double Date (2017)- Do NOT ask me anything about this one, man, idk. Tom in a beard, hat, eyes rimmed in black liner, and with a fake rhinestone tear for 1:30 mins. I didn’t even hear what he said.

Three Way Junction (2018)- English architect (Tom) goes soul searching to Namibia, everyone he meets acts wiser than him, then he gets stranded in the desert. I will call this movie formulaic, but before that, let me acknowledge I was just getting comfortable, then it stepped on my throat and left me agonizingly invested for a good amount of time. The desert-stranded scenes, Tom almost dying from thirst and hunger, body switching off, face peeling from the sun, hallucinating, all alone… it was hard to watch, y’all (in a good way, I suppose). Tom gives it his all and it pays off, because by the end I wanted to scream along with him. The very end is, again, formulaic.

1984 on Broadway (2017)- Winston in the book: I am a 39 y/o gray dude, oppressed and depressed, listen to my musings and experience about politics

Me: Of course! I am intellectually stimulated!

Tom’s Winston: *spits aggressively*

Me: Fu** me, daddy

Trust Tom fuckin Sturridge to make Winston Smith SEXY I AM SO UPSET (AND HORNY) *deep breath* okay. Olivia Wilde broke Tom’s nose acting this, he broke her tailbone. People fainted, threw up, and left the theatre. Need I say more about how intense this production was? And I abfuckingsolutely loved it, oh my GOD. This was a brilliant adaptation of the classic George Orwell novel imo, the changes they made were very clever. Tom is the MC, and in the beginning, he is confused and is just reacting to things rather than acting. But he gets more and more into it and then comes the last act- graphic torture scene of him that they recreated from the book. I understand why people left the room, y’all. I mean, I KNEW what would happen and by the end even I was like ‘fuck me, fuck y’all, fuck this, what the fuck’, and I could PAUSE. But this is how 1984 should be, imo. I’m not saying this just because I’m a simp for Tom: the work he’s done for this is extraordinary. It takes a special kind of actor to even attempt something like it.

[Edit: I've discovered Tom also appeared in Brothers of the Head (2005), a mockumentary-movie about conjoined twins who became rockstars. Tom might be in it for just the ten seconds around 55:00 that I could find him in.]

Now that’s all done, let’s move on to the links. I know most people may have seen most of these, but still may be of help to a few? And I’m making this for my reference as much as for anyone else anyway, so.

Interviews/Being Filmed:

1. We all know there have been sooo many interviews from the Sandman junket. Some of my favorite moments:

a. Tom talking about his experience in the glass cage here (4:15), here (2:00) and here (4:12)

b. Tom shows us (11:34) his button brickphone. An aside: I think he at least had a smartphone at one point- you can see him tapping one here (:10) and he mentioned in the giggly Sea Wall interview that he browsed Wiki on his way there, so… anyway, point is tho, it’s none of our fuckin business

c. Vivienne praises Tom so much that he clenches his fists and is out of breath. Aside: When people he’s less familiar with drop praises, he has no reaction. Like, not even awkwardness, zero reaction except a half smile, e.g. here (4:43), here (4:04) and here (10:11). I just think it’s a funny shy boi thing XD

d. Totally RANDOM, but I love his eyeroll (9:00)

e. Unexpectedly deep and amazing answer to what nightmare Tom would give other people (plus everything else tbh)

f. Tom insisting that eating only within 4 out of 24 hrs and exercising for 5 hrs each day for 3 months was ‘easy’ compared to actually playing Morpheus. This man is insane.

g. Tom stole the sand pouch and is so shifty about it lmao

h. I said this before: Tom and Morpheus are still totally separate in my mind, so seeing this BTS when he’s dressed as Morpheus but speaks as Tom is a reality-shifting experience for me every time. Also, in natural light the subtle eye makeup is really popping. God, this man would KILL it with smokey eyes!

2. I love animated talkers who are also articulate, they tend to be the best storytellers. Tom being just that in these Orphans (5:12) and Sea Wall (37:26) interviews (I recommend watching Tom in both in full, tbh)

3. Linking this Orphans interview because a. His eloquence and wisdom shine through and b. He’s looking sort of devastatingly pretty

4. Tom can play the piano!

5. Never seen a Brit giggle so much (I know I already gif-ed this but you gotta hear the SOUNDS)

6. Englishman struggles to speak English for half a minute straight

7. Tom’s workout vid for Sandman. Not to ogle, to appreciate the unholy amount of effort. You can also see the inconspicuous S tattoo on his back (for his ex, I guess). This man is wearing a hat in the gym... hair too long?

8. Far from the Madding Crowd interview because I need y’all to see this look

9. I like this 1984 interview ‘cause it’s interesting, been edited in a creepy way matching the content they’re talking about +Tom talks about not using a smartphone

10. Adding this to show how much Tom has grown, as we all grow. The ‘romantic’ experience he describes here, while startlingly honest, I can’t see him talking about now. He was a bit rough around the edges, a little awkward with his presence. I find that endearing and relatable, honestly, ‘cause I am VERY different in the way I present myself, speak, communicate now from a few yrs ago. It’s a process.

Billy and Reader going to Disneyland for the first time. They’re literally acting like giant children, and Billy’s having the time of his life. And he’s a little misty ‘cause he’s finally found the family he’s always wanted with Reader. And Reader definitely gets Billy to wear matching ears. And it’s just super fluffy and meaningful.🥺💕

so i went to disney world when i was a smol bean but if i went now i would absolutely sob if i encountered one of the character actors and i’m thinking about this with billy—

he gets to hug a character he liked as a kid and looks at you over their shoulder with glassy eyes and he doesn’t say anything when it’s over but just holds your hand and swings it to let you know he’s okay. that he’s happy. more than, actually.

he waits in line with you for obscene amounts of time and rubs your shoulders when he knows you’re getting sick of it but you put up with it just to see him grin and laugh during and after and he’s got a bounce in his step when he looks at you and says, “again? please, baby? i’ll buy you ice cream, promise.”

and for the ears thing, what if billy and you save up to go after you’re married? what if he tells you that you should wear the cheesy ones with the veil? and he’s a little proud about it when you do, knowing he put a ring on it and whatever. but let me give you a visual: it’s hot so billy takes his ears, with the little top hat for the groom, and pushes his curls back with them, so he’s all sun-kissed and smiley and his curls are bouncing and now he’s got glitter in them from the ears—

when you see the fireworks the first night, billy cries. he’s so overwhelmed by your love and affection, by the fact that he’s acted like a kid all day and you’ve let him, that you got excited when you met a princess, and that you’re there, and the tears just spill over. you brush your fingers through his hair, tying it up since it’s well pass his shoulders now, and you start crying too.

Hi, I just read your post about Izzy and how his actions are rooted in homophobia in relation to his motives for informing the English of the location of the revenge.

I think it's difficult, because Stede is a man, Ed and Stede are both gay, and figuring things out about yourself is a big theme of the show, and I think to separate these facts from it do it an injustice.

However that being said, I think Izzy's reaction would have been the same if Stede was a woman. If Stede and Ed's relationship was exactly the same but Ed was a man and Stede was woman, I think that it would have played out exactly the same, but with accusations of misogyny thrown in instead of homophobia towards Izzy, even if not a single line of dialogue changed. I think he's just being an asshole and not necessarily targeting the queerness of the relationship itself or people in that relationship.

Definitely the "bonnet has done something to my bosses brain" can be read as homophobic, but I also think it can relate to the show's repeated insistence that pirates don't have friends, pirates don't fall in love, pirates don't trust each other. Even when they first meet Stede, Izzy talks to Ed about his increasingly erratic moods and his lack of direction, and to me that line indicates that Stede is just stopping Ed from being the "real pirate" that Izzy wants him to be because he indulges and promotes these moods and whims.

I think, if it wasn't Stede, but a different more traditionally piratey man (like CJ) then Izzy would be fine with it, as long as Ed kept being Blackbeard. Or, if Stede was a woman, but exactly the same in every other way, then Izzy would be equally NOT fine with it.

Obviously, at present, we can't know. Because they are both men. But I'm just not sure I see evidence that Izzy is particularly motivated by homophobia - which is not to say he's a good and perfect uwu smol bean or whatever lol, but I'm just not sure we see anything from him that's like "I hate this explicitly because it's gay."

Genuinely interested in your thoughts if you have the time to give them! I hope it's clear I'm not looking to fight, and just to discuss!

i'm gonna be real, i genuinely don't enjoy playing in this sort of "what if" scenario discussion, because once you move into the grounds of "well if i just changed this actually essential element to the show and its narrative and story i think things would play out the same" we move out of the realm of analysis and into the even more subjective realm of pure conjecture and wishful thinking.

that said, i do not think izzy would react the same way if stede was a woman (and i assume you mean, if stede was born a cis woman with this) and ed was involved in a romance with a woman, for the very specific reason that if stede were a woman, everything he's been mocked and tormented and abused for his entire life would be suddenly appropriate behaviors rewarded by society, and a stede born a cis woman may have never felt the need to literally run away to the sea to find freedom and acceptance. izzy's aggression towards stede (and lucius, to an even greater degree) are because neither of them lives in the man box that izzy sees as true masculinity. he would not hold stede to that standard or carry the same resentment against stede as a woman because stede's behavior would entirely fit into the woman box.

and by the way? the hatred of "womanly"/"feminine" traits in gay men is grounded in homophobia. a lot of people keep trying to separate that into some idea of no no its different if you hate feminine gays - no its not. it's just homophobia. there is nothing new or spicy about it.

and like.

look.

when izzy talks about ed's erratic moods and lack of direction, we have to remember that 1) izzy is an unreliable narrator who likes to tell people ed is half-insane even though that's demonstrably not true and 2) we can see that the problem that izzy has is much less to do with ed being gay and much more to do with the fact that ed is interested in being openly vulnerable, expressing his emotions, dressing in colorful clothes that don't live in the hypermasculine man box, and in general being a "namby-pamby pining for his boyfriend". these are all about hating feminine gay man traits. this is about izzy thinking that ed is less than a man and less than a human for dressing "gay" for lack of better phrasing.

this is homophobia. this is not just being an asshole, this is homophobia.

and because this is a written show, that's ALSO why they have izzy being explicitly homophobic with lucius and approaching their dynamic with his unhinged oooh daddy moment and his contemptuous feminizing language that he uses with lucius (proper little seductress, bitch), is to show that izzy has a problem with gay men who aren't masculine to HIS preferences, which is, again, say it with me, homophobia.

that scene shows that izzy is across the board, with lucius, with stede, and then with ed, contemptuous of feminine gay men. the idea that maybe in some alternate universe he would be just as contemptuous if this were a straight dynamic and a woman was involved is irrelevant, but also utterly ignores that what izzy hates and derides is when these gay men deviate from the man box.

not all homophobia is going to look like someone spitting modern slurs (because izzy is absolutely using old-fashioned insults for gay men), it's not always going to look like someone beating down gay men while shouting slurs.

but sometimes it will absolutely look like someone wanting to have a man killed for "corrupting" his acquaintance into being an effeminate "thing" as izzy clearly sees ed in episode 10. sometimes it will look like *telling* a gay man that he should have been murdered rather than be free to express himself openly.

this is not just regular degular asshole behavior. it's homophobia and it's part of the show because homophobia is part of the toxic masculinity coil that tries to warp men into monsters.

(also, let's not mince words! calico jack isn't just some more traditionally piratey man, he's a traditionally masculine queer man who's contemptuous of stede for being a more feminine gay man and not fitting into the hypermasculine world of piracy. he's got his own homophobic issues. izzy preferring calico jack to stede to him once more about the disdain he has for feminine gay men)

i think the resistance to seeing izzy as homophobic in general comes from a place of deep discomfort that people have with the idea of liking a character who could be "like that". i think people should get over that and not let it cloud their perception of characters.
