#HEE HOO CODE FUNKY
Note
So Team ZIT has a “joke” about who has the brain cell... What if it wasn’t a joke. What if occasionally the other two are physically unable to have good ideas, sometimes all three can’t have good ideas. Idk where I’m going with this, but I think it’s an interesting prompt
Their code got a bit intermingled during a rough season transition several years ago, and now certain parts of the functions that let them think are shared. Usually that's not a huge issue - it can even be a good thing, since they now have an instinctive sense for when one of the others is in danger - but when Tango's brainstorming full force for a minigame and Zed is working overtime on a contraption, the overheating brainwaves can be a little frustrating for poor Impulse, trying and failing to do some simple mental math in the shopping district. Is that one diamond for two stacks or two for one stack...how many diamonds do I even have...please...please I just want some concrete...
Still, a few moments of complete empty-headed confusion are a small price to pay for the ideas he gets when it's his turn to use "the briancell"...as long as he doesn't get creepered while standing there blinking cluelessly. :)

Week 13 - More Ableton with Ethan Hein and project update #2
This was a pretty exciting week as we got a session with Ethan Hein, a music educator who has also studied and done a lot with music technology - here's his blog which has a bunch of interesting ideas and projects: http://www.ethanhein.com/wp/ The first thing he showed us in Ableton was the vocoder. What is a vocoder, you ask? A vocoder is a category of speech coding which analyses and synthesises the human voice. You can essentially create a keyboard out of your voice and  the options are pretty endless as you can transform the voice signal in a bunch of different ways. Ethan did this using Michael Jackson's voice and his various hee hoo's. An example of a vocoder song he showed us was this very funky song by Herbie Hancock

After this, he went a bit further into warping and playing around with samples, which we covered a bit in our first lesson on Ableton. He also showed us beat repeat, something that is only really available in Ableton and something you couldn’t do in for example, Garage Band or Audacity. It essentially semi-randomly grabs parts of the audio and randomly repeat them. I was definitely a little confused by the complexity of Ableton and all the different features he showed us, but was very impressed by how he was able to transform all these samples in so many different ways and made them sound so interesting.
Mini project update
So, the story is coming along quite well. I've written out the plot for it, which includes introducing all these different band instruments with little bits of info about them. I've also given each instrument a name to make them more memorable.
This is what I've got so far:

It may need a little editing but I think most of it is good to use in the final product!
