yeah i've heard of that :/ but i don't plan to rely on it too long, just to familiarise myself with the basics before i take the big step (+ it's a usb stick that my father got at a refresher course lying there unused, not a big deal if it reaches the end of its lifecycle) BUT thank u so much for mentioning distrosea because it means that maybe i don't need to do all that 💜

i gave mx linux a go because it's beginner-friendly, debian based, it's suggested for less powerful computers despite being considered a mid- not lightweight distro, and the live tools it inherits from antiX offer multiple persistence options so i figured it suited my needs. the demo runs really smoothly, it's amazing! i just can't figure out why it lets me configure persistence for homefs but not rootfs, so files docs folders etc. stay where i last left them when i reboot but i can't make any change to the system stick (e.g. any UI customisation, i have to retype the wifi password every time i plug it in, etc.)

Senses From Home

Choose words to describe your muses’s home

Five Visuals

Plants: Any wall, nook, shelf, or space on the floor has life flowing from it in vibrant colors of green dotted with random bits of the rainbow.

Concoctions: Glass bottles line shelves and baskets in assorted sizes. Tin jars with labels stacked carefully.

Wood: Reused furniture and hardware from any assortment of places have been dyed a similar shade, as if its part of the forest.

Paper: Rough handmade paper filled with petals, leaves, feathers, and seeds are stacked and wrapped up in bundles, or bound together in leather covers.

Curtains: Green curtains serve mostly for doors, wide spaces, and dividers without being an obstacle.

Four Sounds

Water: Running water, like a stream, is in the corner of her quarters, echoing softly off the wood and fabric walls. A pool by the shower keeps water flowing for healing use.

Creaks: Stairs, shelving, and floorboards creak enough to be noticed with a keen ear.

Little Feet: Paws pad about the area of their own accord. A plump cat, tiny coblyn, a wily unicolt, and other critters are welcome and go about as they please, usually unseen.

Alchemy: Pestle & Mortar, shaking jars for tinctures, and grinding for salves. The workshop sounds like half a kitchen and half a laboratory.

Three Scents

Herbs!: Herbs! Herbal medicine, bandages, salves, compresses, some drying, some fresh, some in other preparations.

Fireplace: The ideal source for heat in the room, there’s a comforting aroma of burning woods.

Fruit: Jancis’ favorite treat - the smell of citrus, berries, bananas, or other fruits is commonplace.

Two Tastes

Tea: A staple in the homestead and always available to drink. Black, green, flower, herb. It’s random if ready, and by request if not. Or if the guest doesn’t care for the tea. 

Stew: A hearty stew always full of tubers (roots), some kind of meat, and vegetables. And, of course, spices. A savory meal either there or sent off with in a skin.

One Touch

Strings: Coarse, taunt cords upon a harp, eager to be plucked to sing their own song.
