I thought Sonic fans were hypersensitive to criticism but they got nothing on RWBY fans
According to them, Hbomberguy is the worst human being on the face of the earth because he called out the poorly-written show for being poorly-written

rwde.
so i made a post asking people to take part in a “rwde census” if they considered themselves part of the community or were critical of rwby. this was in order to combat a common criticism by the main fanatics that rwde is solely made up of “cisgender heterosexual ablebodied white men” who hate the show’s apparently wide swathe of diverse representation. at 85 responses, results are in.
Tumblr media
this one i will probably redo again at a later date, as many respondents reported to me they were confused or clicked multiple while marking down they were mixed race  —  so they would put mixed race, then white + another race as applicable  —  so the 50.5% is not entirely accurate to the claim of “solely white” rwde posters being racist in regards to the show.
with that in mind, this shows us that more than half of rwde are poc & in line with that in the “thoughts” section of the form, think that rwby has let them down in terms of how they represent race, racial trauma, oppression + more.
Tumblr media
the bisexuals win again —
this also just entirely blows the claim that the rwde community “hate queer people” out of the water. the rwde fandom is in fact majority queer, a whopping 91.5% of us are queer in some way with a third of that being bisexuals; which falls in line with how critical some of us are in regards to the main rep of the show. the “bisexual” main who has never been confirmed, only alluded to by voice actors & was in fact described as both straight & a lesbian by her own va.
Tumblr media
gender is also not even close to being a majority “cis men” like fanatics claim, while ignoring the actual creators of rwby i suppose. 19.2% were cis men, with a majority being cis women & nonbinary running a close third.
so the claims of people hating the show because they hate “girl power” falls flat in the face of a majority of us being women or femme aligned in some way. especially considering the show’s treatment of these women & how a majority of their storylines revolve around the men.
Tumblr media
disability became a hot topic in the fandom majorly in regards to two characters  —  yang xiao long & james ironwood. especially in regards to the treatment of both of their disabilities, yang’s being all but ignored except for ship bait & ableist disregard to her prosthetic, while james was outright demonized & painted as an unfeeling monster for his.
as we can see, only a quarter of those in rwde have no disability. meanwhile the rest have been violently talked over, threatened, harassed, sent death threats & ableist remarks all the while for daring to criticise a storyline that effected them personally.
~
overall the further responses at the end of the form was the most enlightening part. most had begun watching this show & loving it, but then becoming more & more disheartened as the show began to show more & more harmful moments. i would definitely encourage going to the forms & reading those for more of an insight to those in rwde who, despite claims otherwise, do not actually hate the show just to hate it. or because they hate poc, queers, or disabled people.
i hope this was a bit more illuminating for those who constantly hear this rhetoric against the rwde community; especially in the height of rooster teeth / crwby once again being called out for their repeated abuses of power & controversies.

Anytime I see someone bitch about RWBY’s ‘hatedom’ I wish that the FNDM swapped hatedoms with another community.
You think RWBY has it bad? How about you spend a week with a hatedom like say… Star Wars?
I guarantee FNDM would be begging to trade hatedoms back before the first day was even through.

Don't normally bother doing this, but...
Tumblr media
...no, you fucking idiot, that's exactly what you and your circlejerk are doing with literally anyone who isn't an animator. You are absolutely saying that every other aspect of creating an animated series, from audio to storytelling to everything behind the scenes, is completely irrelevant and that the only quality anyone should possess to deserve the rights to a property they have almost nothing to do with, very little involvement in reality*, is "makes cute girls go brr".
You know who understood differently? The animator who knew his talents alone weren't enough to bring his vision to life, so he sought out people with the talents necessary to make a show like RWBY.
(And I feel like highlighting this point, because it really deserves to be highlighted: Dillon Gu worked on one volume of RWBY. Volume 3. Y'know, supposedly when the EVIL Miles and Kerry proceeded to ruin Monty's vision? Not only do they not give or know jack about Monty Oum himself, but they clearly know nothing about the wannabe trying to get attention off of other people losing their jobs.)

Tai Yang Xiao Long
is not a shit parent.
A shit parent doesn't love or take care of their kids. A shit parent fobs them off onto someone else. A shit parent runs from their family just as their daughter is born. A shit parent abuses, gaslights, and torments their kid.
Just because Tai isn't the best at helping Yang or Ruby with trauma, which doesn't exactly come in a parenting class or anything, and because of the problems in the past doesn't mean he's not there right now.
And I'm tired of people saying that he's a bad parent, when RWBY has PLENTY of examples of bad parents.
Raven walked out on their family. Marcus Black was practically Cassandra Caining Mercury. Jacques is...Jacques, needs no explanation. Lady Tremaine/Cinder's wicked adoptive mom literally electroshocked Cinder. The Vanille's were, by and large, only interested in Trivia/Neo as more of a status symbol then a kid IIRC or at least didn't treat her too well either.
Tai and Willow may have the problem of 'neglected their kids in a critical juncture of their lives', but I've seen too much Tai hate to let that go. Nobody appears to be jumping on Willow for getting drunk at every opportunity, nor Qrow's on and off visits or drinking problems likewise despite that coming in bad ways.
Nobody appears to actually think of Raven coming in only when Yang was close to death as a black mark on her record as a parent.
Did Tai screw up when Yang and Ruby were young? Sure. Is he still there and still trying? YES. And I, for one, massively prefer Tai over Raven as far as parenting Yang and Ruby goes. He was a much better parent to Yang then Raven was, and yet some fans treat Raven with kid gloves and reserve the sledgehammer for Tai?!
~
Okay, maybe I should confess that the reason I feel so strongly about this is that I relate to that. Not the whole 'emotionally distant parent' thing, but the 'raised by a single parent when the other one left' thing. Yes, Tai messed up in the past and that messed up Yang quite a bit. It's not as much as Raven leaving did, but it does deserve criticism. Not an explosion, however, we got that with the Raven confrontation(s) in V5.
Again. I prefer a parent who tries at the very least, and this includes Willow too, to a parent who walks away or actively abuses their kid.
For Grade A parenting (genuine) in RWBY though? The Belladonnas, Pietro, and Ren's folks come to mind. Heck, Saphron and Terra and possibly Jaune's parents too if we ever get to see them?
TL;DR: No, I don't think Tai is a shit father or the "third worst parent" as a mutual described him. There are far worse in RWBY than Tai, and that's the truth. I'm not saying he did nothing wrong ever, I'm saying people are being way too harsh on him.

A bunch of Texas white Americans really made the worst discount Magneto I have ever seen in my life and people act surprised he was a villain from the word Go. And that's not getting into the fact the writers made him sexist (sauce: Blake, Illa, Sienna, Yang) in a world where the Patriarchy supposedly doesn't exist.
PS: Adam is not a deconstruction of the "White Savior" trope because that requires a comprehensive understanding of history that you cannot convince me the writers have when they unironically wrote a story where violent protests are morally wrong and used a minority supremacist as the villain of that plot point.
PS PS: The fact Adam is seen as the face of the "The Faunus Plot was bad" critiques while two dark-skinned woc characters (Illa, Sienna) have the same motivations as him is not a good thing. Especially when Adam fridged the darker skinned one (Sienna) and the other one got gaslight to by the white main character so she would be a good minority and beg for her freedom from her oppressors like all good minorities should do (Illa).

RWBY “critics” who bang on about only their grievances honestly have my genuine concern. Are they okay? All this ranting and miring in negativity can’t be good for anybody?
Even if RWBY was the worst show ever that actually did lower the wotld’s collective IQ, I’d still wanna tell them, “Dude, it’s just not worth it.” They’re barely even fun about it in their “roasting.”

RWBY x Justice League part 2 spoilers below the cut (in terms of things it shoots down from the HTDM):
Gotta love that the idea of v9 being filler has been taken out back, since it shows:
Ruby's issues that were brought up and journey in v9 continuing forward with reactions from others
BB continuing to be a couple with very blatant couple things like kissing nonchalantly
Acknowledgement of the time within Ever After by Weiss
So once again the idea that v9 was "filler" was/is/will always be (HTDM) dumbasses not grasping narrative structure and just looking for something to bitch about.
