So, the government in SA is on the brink of losing it all, and the state is failing. They choose to arrange the biggest distraction out there that would utilize the trendiest topic circulating atm for clout.

And while Jews are Not Surprised (tm), the biggest irony in this is that, once more, the Palestinians are used by a third party for local political gain.

Since whatever Hague decides has zero affect on the wellbeing of any Gazan anyway, the farce we are witnessing going down in Hague right now pretty much boils down to a country half a world away from the war, using dead Gazans for internal PR.

Basically, if the court dismisses the case/determines that there is no Genocide, we are going to witness the cynical reception of the news by those who back SA's claim, that are wishing for there to be a Genocide.

If the court does accept the claim, we will witness SA waltzing back home over the equator, doing fuck all at all with this win, and Gazans are abandoned once more, for they have fulfilled the needs of SA in this matter.

It is cynical, hollow, and perverse.

While most news organizations, including the largest mainstream organizations in the United States, the UK and Europe chose not to broadcast South Africa's historic case live at the ICJ, they did choose to show Israel's defense against South Africa's accusation of genocide live.

Despite this dereliction of duty, more than two dozen actors have contributed to a video series, published by the Palestine Festival of Literature, in support of South Africa's motion, accusing Israel of genocide in its war against Hamas in Gaza in which they read excerpts of the case out loud.

More than two dozen prominent names from the acting world including #SusanSarandon, #Cynthia Nixon, The Crown actors #KhalidAbdalla and #TobiasMenzies, and Game of Thrones stars #CharlesDance, #CariceVanHouten and #Lena Headey have contributed to a series of videos supporting #SouthAfrica's historic case charging Israel with genocide at the International Court of Justice in the Hague.

According to the Times of Israel: "The German government sharply rejects allegations before the UN’s top court that Israel is committing “genocide” in Gaza and warned against “political instrumentalization” of the charge. Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit says in a statement that Israel was “defending itself” after the “inhuman” attacks by Hamas on October 7. He says Germany would intervene as a third party before the ICJ under an article allowing states to seek clarification on the use of a multilateral convention. The move allows Germany to present its own case to the court that Israel has not infringed the genocide convention and has not committed or intended to commit genocide. Germany is not claiming to be legally impacted by South Africa’s case and therefore it does not require the ICJ’s permission for third party intervention. As a signatory of the 1948 Genocide Convention, it has the right to join cases and put forward its arguments on the case. Hebestreit stated that Germany “intends to intervene as a third party in the main hearing,” suggesting Berlin will intrude in South Africa’s primary case against Israel in which the court could take years to decide whether or not Israel has violated the Genocide Convention. Accordingly, the move does not appear to influence this week’s proceedings — hearings where South Africa has requested an interim injunction from the court compelling Israel to implement a ceasefire. A decision on that more immediate matter is expected within one month.

“In light of German history and the crimes against humanity of the Shoah, the German government is particularly committed to the [UN] Genocide Convention,” signed in 1948 in the wake of the Holocaust, Hebestreit says. He says the Convention marked a “central instrument” under international law to prevent another Holocaust. For this reason, he says, “we stand firmly against a political instrumentalization” of the Convention. Hebestreit acknowledges diverging views in the international community on Israel’s military operation against Hamas in Gaza. “However the German government decisively and expressly rejects the accusation of genocide brought against Israel before the International Court of Justice,” he says.

“The accusation has no basis in fact.”

I keep on seeing people claim that the ICJ ruled that israel is not committing genocide.

Like wtf are you talking about?

I listened to it all as it was going on, and israel tried to claim that the ICJ didn't have jurisdiction because there is no genocide - and guess what? The ICJ explicitly ruled that, yes, they do in fact have jurisdiction and the genocide case will move forward in the court because there was plausible reason to believe there is a genocide going on.

If there were no genocide or plausible reason to believe israel is committing genocide, the ICJ case would be over and done with. And it isn't.

After seeing South Africa’s articulate presentation at the IJC in Hague documenting Gaza genocide, and Israel’s Trump-esque make stuff up and throw everything at the wall “defense”, this is obvious: anyone still “Standing with Israel” is either an idiot or a shill. Or both.

You want a world with considerably less “anti-semitic” sentiments?

Be a mensch and persuade your buddies in Israel (at least the 98% of them who support the Gaza “war”) to stop the genocidal blitzkrieg and pull the fuck out, something their parents forgot to do.

Then apologize for war crimes: terrorizing and killing thousands of Palestinians including journalists, and destroying hospitals, libraries, infrastructure, apartment buildings while spinning lies about it.

What's actually crazy is that south Africa are SO biased. If they truly do believe they are judging Israel for apartheid and genocide then they, as a country and the judges specifically for living through it, are so so so biased like. What a joke of a court. Fuck fair judgment I guess.
