Parg Vol:

Prominent antagonist during Halo 4: Spartan Ops. Born on Malurok, he initially started out as a field master for the Covenant until the Great Schism. Following the end of the war, his continued disdain for humanity led him to joining the Covenant remnant faction founded by his kin, Merg Vol. However, during the Battle of Draetheus V in 2554, Spartan Palmer would assassinate Merg, leading to the dissolution of the faction. Afterwards, he would dabble a bit in arms dealing and hit contracts before joining Jul 'Mdama's Covenant. He would take part in the Requiem Campaign as a commander, having a few encounters with Fireteam Crimson before they were finally able to assassinate him at The Gate.

Basically, this guy really loved being on losing teams. I only really thought of him 'cause of the funny post by @halobirthdays.

Merg Vol:

Main antagonist of Halo: Spartan Assault. At the end of the Human-Covenant war and the fall of the Covenant Empire, he would go on to found one of the many Covenant remnant factions. In 2554, he initiated the Battle of Draetheus V in search of Forerunner artifacts. However, while he did indeed find what he was looking for, Spartan Palmer would kill him in the process. His faction dissolved following his death.

Just thought about including... the only Sangheili character from the Spartan-IV spin off games.

Re'gish Wamik:

Re'gish was first seen in a Halo Wars cutscene where he briefly argues with Ripa 'Moramee in front of a discovered Forerunner structure on Harvest. Later, a simulation of him named "Captain Wamik" appears as the boss of the Warzone map March on Stormbreak - the UNSC took interest in his military career following the Harvest campaign, leading to ONI War Game designers to utilize field data on him.

Wasn't originally gonna include him, but then I saw he apparently had more lore to him than that one Halo Wars cutscene and thought "eh I'll give him a chance".

I provide some of the selected best of the Doom wads for my dad on his older-model computer, which is one of the few he actually uses that isn't designated to the side for work exclusive, on a thumb drive - because that's the only thing that these old computers run that get any popularity anymore

When I took the psychology test when my crazy mother wanted to see if I had the proclaimed - professed - autism she spoke of, I took the IQ part like I was getting through the psychology barrier of the source over the Fuentes wannabe fanboys - like you have to say it slow enough that they don't put up their hands and say to hell with it, you're going too fast - and they said I have an IQ, unlike what I proclaimed (?), more like 110 - now doesn't that sound like the (whatever) state of whatever the thing is

It's prolly cuz I was raised on a ps2 with assassins creed 2 and Rachet and clank but I've never liked the Halo games. Even playing them now I'm just like "Wow this certainly is a shooter game." Same with Call of Duty, I liked Advanced Warfare, hated WW2, and slightly enjoy Warzone. I've only ever owned AW and WW2.

Some goofy thoughts and ponderings I've had. Enjoy. They get more and more cursed as we continue.

DISCLAIMER: These are simply meant to open discussion. Please if you do comment, try to be respectful towards myself and others in the comments/reblogs.

Anyway, onwards to the ponderings!

1) Is there an equivalent to Easter in Destiny? I mean this in both the religious and secular aspects btw. If so how is it celebrated?? I'm imagining something involving Guardians chucking eggs at each other like it's a snowball fight.

2) While on the topic of Christianity, what happened to all the other religions in the world of Destiny, like Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and others?? Did they all just die out immediately once the Traveler showed up or did the more radical members try to idk, prove it was a false god or prove it's acts were that of their god(s)?? Do some people in the Last City still follow some of them???

3) Still on the topic of religion, do Guardians think of Jesus as a Guardian?? Since he died and was resurrected? Do they think that the Christian God is just a syncretism for the Traveler or his Ghost??

Okay let's move on from religion before I piss somebody off lol-

4) How do Ghost Shells work?? Can you just swap them out or are they fixed to the Ghost's body? I assume that you can just swap them out since you can in game, but in lore is that something you can do?

5) So far, we have yet to see Guardians below the age of at least 21, maybe 18 at the youngest, physically speaking. While I think it would be messed up, what do you think a child Guardian would be like? As a hard stop, I'm speaking of a Guardian below the age of 18, but no younger than 15.

6) So far we've only had vague mentions of Earth beyond where we can go in game (EDZ, Old Russia, The Last City), like Old Chicago for example. What about Egypt? Or Australia?? Is the Great Wall of China still standing?? Did global warming cause Japan to get swallowed underwater?

7) Pineapples and, if I remember correctly, dragonflies are extinct in Destiny lore. What other stuff could have gone extinct by now? What animals have had the chance to thrive and come from the brink of extinction as a result of the Collapse?

8) A bit NSFW, and I apologize, but do you think the Last City has a red light district? If so, do you think there are some Guardians who participate in it??? Idk one day the thought of a Guardian on a stripper pole sent me down a weird train of thought.

9) Another slightly NSFW question and I apologize again, but do we know how Hive and Eliksni reproductive systems work?? We know about the Cabal, thanks to that very traumatizing lore book told from Caiatl's perspective growing up (we did NOT need to know about Calus's kangaroo baby pouch, BUNGIE), and I know we have a very vague idea of how it works for Hive, but how much do we exactly know about the Eliksni and Hive's reproductive cycles??

10) Do you think Guardians like collecting Golden Age video games and media?? Like watching holotapes of Disney movies and playing COD Warzone on restored servers? I wonder how they'd react to games like Doom or even more hilariously Halo.

And lastly, on the topic of Halo...

11) I heard once that apparently, Halo and Destiny take place in the same universe. I know that there's that Master Chief reference in Destiny 1 where Ghost tells you about the one Guardian he was gonna resurrect saying he didn't want to be, claiming that "the last war was enough for multiple lifetimes" which could be a reference to the Covenant. I also heard that apparently if Halo and Destiny truly are in the same universe, then Halo would have taken place during the Golden Age and maybe into the Collapse, and even moreso, the Covenant could still be out there beyond the Sol System. Given that we're nearing the end of the Light and Darkness saga, and moving beyond the Sol System and fight between the Traveler and the Witness, I wonder if this is true or not. This probably isn't, given that Bungie separated from Activision and is now partnered with Sony and that story merger may never happen, but I wonder what could have been if this was true.

Do gold camos in CoD mean anything anymore?? Or are they just fun??

I'll be the first to admit, I haven't been playing Call Of Duty for very long. My first experience was in 2010, and I gave up after 5 minutes before going back to Halo. After that, it was Infinite Warfare in 2018, and I only played the Zombies portion. I never even ATTEMPTED the gameplay. When Warzone came out in 2020, I decided to give it a shot, seeing as a good friend (now my boyfriend) played it, and we could play together while I was still on PS4 and he was on Xbox One.

Back then, just a mere 2 years ago, I would see a gold camo gun and assume the person had a ton of hours into it. Now, though, with Modern Warfare II 2022 out, I see gold camos almost every game. I see people grinding to get as many gold camos as they can get, and as someone who only has ever held one gold camo for a gun in that I got in Zombies mode, I realize that all it does is encourage sweats.

Now, am I saying to get rid of them?? Absolutely not. It can be fun to try and get different achievements, and the fact that you have a way of showing off that achievement is pretty damn cool. I am, however, looking at camos through a different lens than I did back when I started Warzone.

Of course, this somewhat soft series reboot isn’t the greatest game of all time, it’s merely a very good shooter. Halo 4 could've been the best game ever made, and it still would've been saddled with unreasonable expectations. Bungie had essentially become The Beatles of game development by the time it bade farewell to its landmark sci-fi shooter. Watching a studio take over a storied series from its creators is always difficult, but 343 Industries had it harder than almost everyone else. At least Marty O’Donnell’s music is phenomenal. The plot is smart to frame the first game’s events as a spark that ignites civil war within the Covenant, but the spectacle is constantly looking for a better game to go along with it. Halo 2’s online encounters had a seismic impact on the Xbox landscape, and the hugely influential mode nearly covers up a wobbling campaign filled with linear environments, grating shootouts, and cheap ‘gotcha!’ moments. Though it needed a day-one patch to really sing (yes, even back then), Halo 2’s multiplayer stands as a landmark in the history of Xbox Live, bringing Bungie’s unique combat into a sprawling suite of matchmaking features, customization, skill ranking, and just about every feature you’ve come to expect from online games today. You may look back and groan at all those lacklustre Arbiter missions in the campaign, yet there’s no denying Halo 2 has one of the most important online modes of all time. Halo 5 isn’t necessarily a bad video game, but it’s unquestionably a deeply compromised one. Even Warzone, a commendable, sprawling new online mode, feels outdated placed next to the ever evolving FPS treats of Destiny. Master Chief has to share the spotlight with new spartan protagonist Locke, Cortana is kinda the baddie but not really, while the game’s controls crib on Call of Duty (Halo finally gets iron sights) and Titanfall (note the boost dash) without ever fully convincing. Fight against one of the campaign’s dratted Wardens – a infuriating breed of mini boss who can only be hurt from behind as your allies distract them from the front – and you’ll know exactly what kind of tiresome grind Halo 5 is when ‘enjoyed’ on your own.ĭespite Microsoft throwing an insane budget at Xbox One’s first proper Halo, every part of Guardians feels confused. Make no mistake, Halo 5 was designed to be played with three online chums by your side. Here it is, ladies and gents: the first (and hopefully only) Halo campaign that’s simply no fun to play on your lonesome. Halo Wars 2 may continue to try and fill a gap in the market that probably doesn’t need plugged, but it still serves up a decent slice of strategy. The army-building antics of the new Blitz mode are also worthy of praise – recruiting enormous UNSC armies by building decks of cards is a really cute spin on the RTS formula. The story the Creative Assembly manages to spin is surprisingly decent too, and Blur Studio’s gorgeously rendered cinematics ooze big budget sleekness. New control groups make waging battles a more nuanced affair, and splitting your army into separate groups leads to multitasking alien murder on an epic scale. The original is one of the few games in the genre that feels comfortable played on a controller, and this sequel subtly evolves the control scheme, giving you a streamlined strategy title that never feels like it needs a mouse and keyboard – though the PC version does support them.
