'Andrew Scott’s career has been a slow yet steady one. Like many other British actors, he started in the theater and had small roles in both movies and TV. With his talent, little by little, he earned better roles until they hired him to play Moriarty in Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock. The great Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron has passed away at the age of 86. I cannot imagine the ignorance and stupidity that this man faced when he was chasing Babe Ruth’s home run record. It would have got the best of many a man. He handled it with class and dignity.

During 2020, I respectfully joked that the 2020 Memorial team was going to be hard to beat in the Heavenly World Series with the pitching staff that it formed with the loss of legends such as Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson Whitey Ford, Don Larsen and Phil Niekro.

Unfortunately, 22 days into 2021, Tommy Lasorda is starting to fill out his lineup card. He has his 3 hole hitter and a starting pitcher with the death of Don Sutton.

THE PARTY. CONT.

the night feels like it’s never going to end. more and more people continue to push their way through the front door of the house and the rooms get more claustrophobic. at some point you make your way out to the back yard. maybe for a breath of fresh air or maybe to dip your feet in the pool. before you can truly reflect on why you’re out here, you’re interrupted by a shrill scream. its a sound that sends chills down your spine, and you immediately run towards it.

there is crowd gathering on the edge of the house property. between the back hedges and the field that extends farther beyond. people are murmuring. some are gasping. you even seen one person run off to throw up in the bushes, although you’re not sure if that’s because of the alcohol or whatever is beyond the bodies in front of you.

you finally make your way to the front, and there, surrounded by what feels to be the entire population of bryne university, lies parts. you’re not sure what body parts they are exactly, its too dark to get a good look. but the smell makes your stomach churn and you can see flies already starting to make their home on the ripped skin. you wonder who would leave a mound of body parts lying in a public location, but notice the black torn trash bag under the pile.

had someone been trying to dispose of the body parts? who knows. definitely not you.

you look around the circle and notice many faces from earlier in the night, but even a few more that you hadn’t realized were here.

derek larsen, obviously. but you also see tessa bowers, christina levi and christopher martinez, jordan trujillo, olivia cross, and maya fry as well. you can’t discern the looks on all their faces, but they do seem to be as shocked as you are.

time seems to go by in a weird flash of images and sounds. and suddenly its been almost an hour since the body has been found. someone called the sheriff, hank wilkensen, of course, but somehow the mayor, james boone and the football coach, william warren find their way to the scene of the crime as well.

before you can ask too many questions a deputy is asking for your recount of the night, and after you give your statement you’re advised to go home and get some rest. a nearby apple watch tells you its past 3am.

so you do that. you go home, and try to sleep. but your mind can’t stop remembering the stack of body parts. the sheen of oil on the skin and the open wounds. the smell of decaying flesh.
