Steph Catley x Baby!Reader
Summary: Steph talks with Macca
Tumblr media
The rest of the Tillies crowd around you when Steph settles in a seat.
She'd left training early last night to pick you up and sign the paperwork and had slept in. She was lucky Tony was so accommodating. This was a big moment and she's glad that she's got you now.
The idea of adopting hadn't been on Steph's mind at all until she'd finished a game and looked up to see a little girl holding a sign that said 'This is my adoption day present'.
There was something about it that got Steph thinking. It hadn't crossed her mind once and then all of a sudden it was all she could think about. The process was long and she was constantly flying back and forth from England to Australia to sort everything out.
"How old is she?" Mini asks.
"Six months," Steph replies, smiling down at you.
"You're going to be a great mum, Steph. If you need any help just call. I'd be happy to babysit for a bit."
"I can't ask you to do that. Really, it's-"
"Trust me," Mini laughs, patting her on the shoulder," Give it a few weeks and you'll see why I offered." Her eyes are drawn behind Steph's shoulder. "Kyra! Charli! Stop teaching Harper bad habits!"
More of her teammates come up to fawn over you but Steph's waiting in anticipation for one in particular.
You seem unbothered by all the noise, something almost everyone comments on and Steph has to offer them all a forced smile as she rocks you back and forth and pulls silly faces to make you giggle.
"You wanted to talk?" Mackenzie says as she falls back next to Steph," You sounded pretty serious. You're not dying are you?"
"No...Macca...I was wondering if I could get some advice."
"If it's about changing position then I don't recommend goalkeeper. If it's about this little angel, then I'm not sure I'm much help either."
"I think you are." Steph isn't quite sure why she's treating it like it's some big secret. Everyone will know eventually but it's personal right now and she doesn't want anyone prying.
"Steph, you're scaring me a little."
"You know when you found out about your hearing loss, did you feel like learning auslan would help?"
Macca's brow furrows. "Why would..." Her eyes drift down to you. Somewhere across the room, Kyra and Charli shriek. It's enough to catch everyone off guard, heads automatically turning to the source of the noise but you don't react in the slightest. "Oh."
"She failed her first AOAE test and then the second one too. She failed her ABR test too."
Macca reaches out gently as Steph looks at her with wide eyes. "Is it complete hearing loss or is she hard of hearing like me?"
"Like you. I've...I've got baby hearing aids for her..." Steph digs around in her pocket to bring out a little blue case decorated with whichever stickers caught your eye when she got you yesterday. You'd smacked a few of them when Steph presented them to you and she had stuck them onto the case. She pops it open to reveal the aids.
Honestly, Mackenzie didn't even know that you could give babies hearing aids.
"She doesn't really like them though. The doctor said to keep them in whenever she's awake but...She really doesn't like them sometimes and I don't want her teased when she goes to school."
"It's different," Macca says eventually as she watches your whole face be taken over by a yawn," I was much older when I found out. I knew how to speak and communicate. I...I don't think it could hurt to learn it with her although if you're staying with Arsenal long-term then you should probably do a bit of bsl too, just to be safe."
"Right, yes."
Steph had known about your hearing loss for months now. Some of the workers assigned to you had tried to warn you away from her because of it. They made you out to be a difficult case or defective in some way.
But Steph thought you were a little angel.
You were so perfect and sweet and she wanted to adopt you even though everyone told her that there were better, hearing babies to choose from.
But you had endeared her from the moment you met, smacking blocks together and chewing on your fingers.
"You should put her hearing aids in though," Mackenzie says," She'll get used to them eventually but they're no help if she's not wearing them. Did they teach you how?"
Steph nods. "Yeah."
"Can you teach me? Girls like us have to stick together. I can't believe they make ones that small."
That shocks a laugh out of Steph as she sits you upright to slip your hearing aids on.
You whine a little when they're turned on, scrunching up your face at all of the noise you can suddenly hear.
"Yeah," Macca laughs at your annoyance," It was like that for me too. It's so strange that people just regularly hear so much."
You turn your head towards her when she speaks, the first time she's seen you react to noise at all and giggle, kicking your feet.
Steph beams as she stands you up on her thighs and kisses your chubby baby cheeks, blowing a few raspberries on them for good measure.
"Can we play with the baby now?" Kyra asks, suddenly barrelling into the quiet moment," Please?"
"No, Kyra," Steph says with an eye roll," You can play with my angel after camp. You'll be seeing a lot of her back in London."
"Please? I'm really responsible! I take care of Harper all the time!"
In sync, Steph and Mackenzie both watch as Charli goads Harper into rolling off the table. Thankfully, Mini is there to catch her just in time.
"That wasn't my fault! Charli was watching her!"
"Go and play with Harper, Kyra," Steph says," This angel needs a little nap so she can greet her adoring fans at dinner. Maybe, if you're good, you can help feed her."
Kyra walks off in a huff as Steph gets up from her seat.
"Steph," Macca calls out as Steph starts to get ready to put you down for a nap," My audiologist in London does kids as well. I can set up an appointment for you if you want."
"Thanks, Macca."
In the quiet of her hotel room, you finally settle. Steph's seen this kind of behaviour from you before, on those visits before she could adopt you.
Noises still seemed a little shocking to you and strange.
You give her a little smile to show off the few teeth you've got and Steph flutters kisses upon your cheeks as you giggle ecstatically.
It's the best sound in the world and Steph settles on the bed with you on your chest. You're still giggling as she slips your hearing aids out so you can sleep peacefully.
"Go to sleep, angel," She coos to you, close enough that you can feel the vibrations of her words against you," We're going to have so much fun together."

no. 18: Hot Single Parent and babysitter/nanny for mctwinks pls!!
Tumblr media
18. hot single parent and babysitter/nanny
There’s a million things that lead up to Lando being broadcasted to the entire F1 watching world with a baby strapped to his chest, but the shortest version of it is this;
He’s in London for a gig, playing at some night club he’s already forgotten the name of, when Max texts him if he wants to go to the Silverstone GP. And Lando loves Silverstone, and he hasn’t been to a race in forever, so he says yes.
When he gets there, excited to watch some racing, he’s instead confronted with Max’s teammate Oscar Piastri, who is cute and serious and looking a little frazzled and holding a baby.
The baby, Oscar tells him, is his daughter Harper. His nanny bailed on him at the very last moment and everyone seems to be busy and he needs to find someone to take care of her right now so if Lando could move out of the way that would be great.
To which Lando opens his mouth and says, “I can watch her.”
So. Baby.
Harper is a pretty chill baby, all things considered. Oscar had been a bit hesitant to hand her over initially, but after the approval of Max and Lando’s assurance that his brother has kids and he knows  what he’s doing, he’d strapped the complicated baby carrier situation to Lando’s chest and given Harper a goodbye kiss on the top of her head before heading to the track.
And it’s not like Oscar and Lando are stranger to each other, either. They’d seen each other over the years, in the paddock whenever Lando came to visit, at parties. Most notably Max’s birthday party two years ago, where they stood outside and talked for nearly two hours, and Lando was so convinced they were going to kiss.
But they didn’t. So.
Harper babbles happily and Lando glances down at her, adjusting the giant baby proof headphones so they cover her ears properly. “Are you excited to watch your dad’s race, Harper?” He asks, to which Harper answers with a decisive, “Ba!” as she slams her fist against Lando’s shoulder.
“Me too, little bug, me too.” Lando says.
The race is pretty good. From where he’s sitting Lando has an excellent view of the track as well as the option to watch the screens for the parts he can’t see, and he entertains himself by pointing out things out to Harper, who mostly babbles happily and waves her fists around in answer.
When Max crosses the line in first, Oscar in second, Lando puts up Harper’s little hands in a cheer and she actually giggles. After that he makes his way back to the Red Bull Motorhome to wait for Oscar, stopping along the way to talk to some people he knows, most of whom give him very amused looks when they spot Harper.
He’s just taken a seat in hospitality, when he gets a text from his sister. You never tell me shit anymore :(((((  It says. Lando frowns. Attached is a message, and he nearly drops his phone when he opens it and sees what it is.
It’s a screenshot from the live broadcast, showcasing Lando and Harper, clearly in deep conversation about something on track. Lando hadn’t even noticed the camera had been on them. But that. That isn’t really the important part. The important part is the caption.
The intention, Lando hopes, must have been for it to say ‘Lando Norris; professional DJ, holding Oscar Piastri’s baby’.
Instead, it says, ‘Lando Norris; professional DJ, Oscar Piastri’s baby’.
“Oh go-“ he glances at Harper. “-Goody,” he finishes. His friends are never going to let this go. Max is going to have a field day. Maybe he can just ignore it ever happened. Sweep it under the rug. Pretend-
“Hey baby,” Oscar Piastri says, appearing next to his table.
Lando cringes. “Ah,” he says, “you saw.”
Oscar shrugs, seeming entirely too chill about the whole thing. “Max saw it, on the big screens. Mentioned it in the cool down room.” Which is Oscar speak for ‘teased him relentlessly about it’, probably. Lando winces in sympathy. “I’m sorry,” Oscar continues.
“Nah, not your fault,” Lando says, waving his hand around. “Besides,” he adds, trying very hard to keep a straight face and not do something embarrassing like blush. “It’s not the worst thing to be, you know. Your baby.”
“Oh,” Oscar says, and his cheeks turn an absolutely delightful shade of pink, and suddenly it’s just like two years ago, standing in the courtyard of a club Lando’s long forgotten, staring into Oscar’s deep brown eyes like they’re the only two people on earth.
Which they’re not, as Harper gladly reminds them by choosing that exact moment to say, “Aga ba,” and slamming her fist against Lando’s cheek.
Oscar’s demeanor changes immediately, his smile mellowing out in something so soft it tugs at Lando’s heart as he reaches for her daughter, who twists around to face him and lets out a delighted string of babbles.
Lando unstraps her and hands her over, watching as Oscar quietly asks her how her afternoon was and then getting the softest, fondest look on her face when she babbles happily, albeit completely nonsensically, back at him.
“Thanks, for watching over her.”
“Yeah,” Lando says, standing up himself. “No problem. Anytime.” Anytime, all the time, forever if you’d let me. God, he’s pathetic. A cute guy is nice to him twice and he’s immediately willing to go down on one knee.
“Right,” Lando says, and there’s a moment, a small moment, where Oscar looks at him expectantly, and he thinks fuck it. I could just ask him out. We could make it work. But then he looks at Harper, still cradled in Oscar’s arms. Thinks about his schedule for the upcoming week, which is so incredibly full he’s going to have to ask his PA if she can please schedule him time to breathe, and realizes that no matter how much he might want this, it’s just not possible for them.
Being Oscar Piastri’s baby is always going to be just a meme on the internet.
“Well,” he finally says, shoves his hands in his pockets. “See you around.”
Something flickers, in Oscar’s face. Disappointment, maybe. Or maybe Lando’s just projecting. Whatever it is, it doesn’t matter. It isn’t going to change anything.
He leaves the Red Bull Hospitality without looking back.

Howdy! Could i make a request for arsenal Roy harper from young justice?
Lian is adamant that reader is her uncle Roys boyfriend.
Reader teases Roy about it everytime it happens (for this, I'd prefer that Roy is coming to terms with being bisexual, and reader is also bi)
Pairing: Roy Harper x male!reader
Summary: Roy is babysitting Lian when she once again refers to you as his boyfriend. shenanigans ensue
A/N: AAAAAAAAAAAA Finally I have written something again and hopefully I will manage to do it more in the next time. I will probably work on my Roy Harper Requests first because...well...he's my husband. Thank you for everyone who's supporting me :3
REQUESTS ARE OPEN
Tumblr media
Roy Harper was leaning against the kitchen counter, watching Lian, his niece, bouncing around the room with boundless energy. Well…he called her his niece. At some point he just got tired of the whole ‘Yeah i got cloned and that clone had a child with an assassin’-talk. But he liked Lian. He really did.
"Uncle Roy!" Lian's voice cut through his thoughts as she came to a skidding halt in front of him. "When is (y/n) coming over again?"
Roy raised an eyebrow, trying to suppress a smile. He almost hated how easy the mention of you made him smile. "Why, Lian? Getting bored of me already?"
Lian giggled at that. "Maybe! And besides, I wanna show them my new art project."
"Your art project, huh? You know I’m really not sure if (y/n) has time to come by today. You know how busy he is with Uncle Dick and the whole crew”
Of course Roy loved Lian. He loved hanging out with her, even if babysitting was not on his usual agenda. But the thought of you being out there on a mission without him made him…he wasn’t sure. He didn’t like it.
Lian's eyes widened innocently. "He’s there without you? I thought he was your boyfriend.”
Roy nearly choked on the glass of water he had been drinking, caught off guard by Lian's bluntness. At this point it shouldn’t even surprise him anymore. Lian did mention it a lot. He had no idea what made her so insistent that he was dating you.
It wasn’t even realistic considering you were way out of his league. (he would never say that outloud)
"Well, Lian," and of course in that exact moment you had returned to Will’s apartment because who are you to say no when the little girl begs you to come by. Roy was hoping you hadn’t heard anything but his hopes weren’t high. "I don't know about being Uncle Roy's boyfriend, but I do like spending time with him."
Lian's face lit up with excitement. "See, I told you!" She pointed at Roy, triumphant. "I knew it!"
Roy rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a warmth creep up his cheeks. "He said he likes hanging out. He also likes hanging out with Dick and Will and Kaldur.”
You chuckled and draped an arm around Roy's shoulders. "He’s right, Lian. Cut your uncle Roy a break. We’re just good buddies.” you looked over at him, giving him a quick wink. “Even though I do like hanging out with him the most.”
Lian rolled her eyes dramatically, clearly unconvinced. "Sure, just good buddies. Like I believe that."
Roy groaned playfully. "You're impossible, you know that?"
You just chuckled. “Wonder who she got that from.” he lightly hit Roy in his side with your elbow. “Surely not from Roy Harper who never manages to keep his mouth shut.”
“Hey!” He gave you a playful pout.
“To be fair, Will isn’t better so it might just be the Harper gene.”
“Oh wait, I can show you the picture I drew!” Lian grinned and skipped out of the room, leaving you and Roy alone.
Roy sighed, looking at you with a mix of exasperation and affection.
"You know, one of these days, she's gonna get it into her head that she's some kind of matchmaker."
You laughed, leaning in to bump your shoulder against Roy's. "Well, can you blame her? She's got a great judge of character. Can’t blame her for wanting me in the family either. Do you have like…arrow family game nights"
Roy's gaze softened as he met your eyes, not being able to hold back from giving you a soft smile. "You're something else, you know that?"
You winked again. “I’m gonna take this as a compliment, Arsenal.”
The way you looked at him made his heart skip and it was hard to deny that he had some feelings towards you.
You knew of course. Or at least you thought about it. You were the last person to just assume Roy’s sexuality especially after the guy apparently had been frozen on ice for some time and now had to pick up on all the stupid shit you do as a teenager.
Like figuring out your sexuality which you thankfully already had behind you. And you were really glad about that. Because you know how hard it is. Especially if you have literal world ending scenarios to worry about.
He opened his mouth to say something when Lian raced back into the room.
“Here, Uncle (y/n)! Look!” she said and held up a piece of paper to you.
Roy leaned over your shoulder to also catch a look at it. His breath hitched in his throat.
It was the usual colorful and stickman drawing you would expect of a small child. It took you a few seconds but you eventually managed to recognize the figures in the picture. The small one and the big one were Lian and Will. There were Oliver and Dinah, and Chesire on the other side. And on the far left of the drawing were two figures that were unmistakably you and Roy, holding the others stickman hands and having a few hearts drawn around each other.
You moved to kneel down in front of Lian. “This is really beautiful.”
“You like it?!” her eyes were basically glowing.
“We like it, right?” you looked up at Roy.
Roy was a bit speechless for a moment, hoping no one was able to see the faint blush on his cheeks. “Yeah…yeah it’s nice.”
“Yay!” she excitedly started jumping around in a circle.
That’s when you heard your front door open. “What are we being excited about?” Willa asked while walking in.
“I draw (y/n) a picture! He likes it!” Lian said with a wide grin, running over to her dad.
“Really? That’s–” Will stopped when he looked at you and Roy. “...are you two crying?”
And you were TOTALLY NOT getting really emotional over the child’s drawing of you.
“No.” both you and Roy said at the same time.
“...ooookay” Will slowly nodded. “Well..eh…thank you for babysitting, Roy.”
“No problem.” Roy awkwardly looked at you.
You looked at him at the same moment before looking at your watch. “...I know this really great Italian place. Hungry?”
“Are you paying?”
“Aren’t you using Ollie’s credit card? Isn’t he like a billionaire?”
Roy looked at you for a moment. “...good point. Let’s go.”
With that Will watched you two leave the apartment after you both said goodbye to Lian.
“...they are going on a date, aren’t they?” he looked down at Lian.
“No. They are just very good buddies.” she giggled while going back into her room to get another picture she drew for her dad.
Will just decided not to question it.

thinking about cassie rose after a good while now, read some actually decent fanfics with her in them,, and i was thinking about her relationship with the old builders. i do like the hc that she was just.. left as a baby at their door and they didnt know what to do. but i had another idea.
the old builders worked together a lot despite hadrian insisting he'd rather work alone.
mevia is trying to get everyone to do things her way per usual, and isn't taking anyone's suggestions.
otto is trying to be the peacekeeper, trying to solve the problem and incorporate everyones ideas into it - but its increasingly becoming overwhelming.
soren has no thoughts just scribbling down key points in the experiments down.
harper is trying to suggest ways to continue safely rather than mevias obviously hazardous ways of doing things,,
eventually they stop, leaving everything for the time being, they didn't expect it to pan out how it did.
eventually they become wary of the results, watching as a blob in the middle of the glass box starts moving, there's pumpkin seeds in it, they've multiplied from the one that was planted.
upon closer inspection, it has eyes. it freaks everyone but hadrian out, who's fascinated by the blob.
only hadrian visits from now on, and eventually, shouts the rest of them in to see it.
a huge pumpkin covered in roses has grown as an outer shell - but it's not the normal orange that is usually grown outside by the people that lived there, it was white. the thing inside the pumpkin looked like a human. wine red hair which they'd never seen before from someone. but was it a person? or had they just accidentally made something they'd regret. she was tiny,, they'd somehow created a life from all this. it was insane for them to even be seeing with their own eyes - a breakthrough of some kind?
hadrian was the first to hold a hand out, and the baby instantly grabbed his finger. it suprised him in a way, but he immediately picked her up, pulling off leaves that were tangled around her head, green mixed with the red of her hair, making her look similar to a christmas wreath. only the pumpkin wasnt keen too happy about having to let her go, it broke up, becoming rotten, and the roses instantly wilted and grew thorns so sharp, mevia found herself getting a scratch across her finger.
the baby instantly started crying, bits of dirt covering her from where she was just moments ago.
the roses were only wilting faster now, melting in a way that none of them had seen before, turning into a thick substance that bubbled strangely.
they decided it was best to leave it, as they didn't know what these things actually were.. nevermind the things they were capable of.
but the word rose stuck, and she was named cassandra rose. cassandra after someone distant in ottos family, someone who had been a great influence on them all, her writings and knowledge being key to everything they had built together.
cassie was like any other person,, so no one assumed anything about her origins,, just that she had been adopted into the old builder's lives. the only problem was the roses stuck, they'd need trimming often as they grew around her and while she didn't seem to care about them, they were such a nuisance to everyone else. when she'd learned to walk, they would assist her, catching her when she fell which was something else entirely.. and it hurt when they were trimmed because they were a part of her, so often she'd cry - mevia hated crying children. if left too long pumpkins would start growing too and that wasn't good.
they continued assisting her as she grew up. hadrian wanted to enroll her into school, but harper who had taken in cassie as her own at this point with soren spoke against it. she may look like a child but they still weren't sure what she was, she'd never interacted with anyone besides them either. hadrian however wouldn't take no for an answer, and she was taken to the nearby school.
kids weren't nice,, asking constant questions about the roses attached to her skin. once one child had started tugging at them did cassie soon get mad. it hurt her which caused the stems to start wrapping around the kids' throat, tightening until he couldn't breathe.
she was never allowed back after that. the child was fine but if this would be a common occurrence, she couldn't stay there. so she was taught at home instead.
sometimes the roses would have negative emotions of their own which would hurt cassie herself. sometimes they'd have positive emotions too, making sure she was warm at night or wiping away her tears when she cried.
the experiment didn't die down either, hadrian and mevia would record events and keep it all in a diary. they saw her as the experiment rather than a kid. they even had positive emotions when she'd attacked that child on her only day at the school which very much disturbed the others.
the only people that treated cassie like an actual child were harper and soren. soren would sing to her, hold her in his arms and spin around which made her laugh. and harper would teach her things,, she'd draw with her too as she soon saw cassies passion for art. in turn, the roses saw harper and soren as trusted people and they loved them as much as cassie did.

Power Play
Book: Open Heart, Book 2
Pairing: Dr. Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Dr. Sawyer Brooks)
Rating: Explicit
Warning: 🔥NSFW, 18+ Only, contains sexual content
Category: Fluff, Smut
Word count: 2.9K
Prompt/Summary: Fed up with some of Ethan’s catty and manipulative admirers, Sawyer tries to beat them at their own game.
A/N: Inspired by this ask and the follow up request from @annfg8 for a jealous Sawyer fic. This takes place shortly after the softball game kiss.
Tumblr media
Even Ethan was on board when June suggested they present at the conference and bring some much needed attention to Edenbrook. The event coordinators were excited to promote the renowned diagnostics team as the headliners. As such, the team was asked to be part of a moderated panel discussion that morning, followed by Q&A breakout sessions throughout the afternoon.
In between sessions, Sawyer began to notice just how many admirers sought the attention of the famed Dr. Ethan Ramsey. Most of them women, with an air of sophistication about them in both appearance and accomplishment. They stood before him in their classy sheath dresses and power pantsuits, accessorized with expensive jewelry, designer shoes, and handbags that cost more than her rent. She heard snippets of their conversations with mentions of groundbreaking research, articles published in prestigious medical journals, keynote presentations, and AMA awards. Sawyer also observed the flirtatious posturing. How they leaned in, tilted their heads, subtly touched his arms and shoulders, and on occasion even flashed their eyebrows.
No longer able to stomach the view, Sawyer escaped to the restroom for a moment to herself. Locking herself into a stall, she heard the click-clack of high heels as two women entered.
“I would let that man do absolutely anything to me. An-y-thing. And from what I’ve heard, he’s currently available,” the woman sang, fixing her hair in the mirror.
Applying a fresh coat of lipstick, the other laughed, “Ha, good luck. He’s been eye fucking that protégé of his all day.”
“Please. Ethan Ramsey is a man of refined taste. He dated Harper Emery for fucks sake.”
“Let’s go find Hirata and get the scoop.”
Red hot anger crept up her neck as Sawyer waited for the coast to clear. As she moved to wash her hands, a poised red-head joined her at the sinks.
“Ignore them.”
“Pardon?” Sawyer asked, making eye contact through the mirror.
“You’re Dr. Brooks from Edenbrook. Sawyer is it?” she pumped soap from a dispenser. “I’m Kellie. Kellie Wicker. I’m in Oncology over at Brigham. I’m a friend of Ethan and Harper’s.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Sawyer greeted cautiously.
Repeating the advice, “Just ignore them. Sadly, a good majority of the women in attendance only come to these conferences to meet men. And those bitches are notorious for coming in and marking their territory.” Drying her hands she added, “As if they have any chance with Ethan Ramsey either.” Her snicker echoed in the tiled room.
Unclear whether it was meant to be a dig, the word “either” didn’t get past Sawyer, who shook the excess water from her hands and reached for a paper towel.
Tucking her copper strands behind an ear, Kellie continued, “If it’s any consolation, I can tell Ethan respects you. He’s a very proud mentor, and as he put it when we spoke earlier, he thinks you have tremendous potential.”
“Thank you. Dr. Ramsey’s been a great teacher. I’m incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to work with him, as well as Dr. Hirata and Dr. Mirani.”
“Lucky indeed,” Dr. Wicker concurred. “Well, it was nice to meet you, Sawyer. I look forward to seeing you at the reception later,” she offered, turning on her heel to leave.
“Sorry, can I ask you a quick question? How fancy is this event tonight? I packed a couple different dresses but–”
“Oh…oh, it’s not fancy at all,” Kellie paused with one foot out the door, “Business professional, dear.”
“Glad I asked. Thanks.”
Sawyer returned to the lobby where she found Baz obnoxiously flagging her down. “Sawyer, you’ve got a fan seeking an autograph,” he pointed to the mystery man.
As she rolled her eyes, the man turned around and Sawyer squealed with excitement. “Ben! What are you doing here?”
“Brooksie! Wow, Boston looks good on you, honey. Aside from the fact that you are in desperate need of a spray tan,” he teased.
She playfully swatted at him as he pulled her off to the side to chat.
Having missed the initial exchange, Ethan entered the lobby, his eyes immediately drawn to the man hovering over what he wished he could publicly claim as his own.
From what he could ascertain, the flamboyant doctor was someone she knew from Los Angeles. Ben personified the Beverly Hills doctor stereotype right down to his sleek Armani suit and shiny Prada shoes. If Ethan had to guess, he was most likely a plastic surgeon.
As Ben rubbed his hand up and down Sawyer’s arm, Ethan’s muscles tensed. And when Ben pulled her into a hug and placed a chaste kiss on her cheek, Ethan gritted his teeth. Swiftly gathering his belongings, he announced to Baz that he was heading back to his hotel room. With urgent steps he exited the conference center, ignoring those who still wished to win him over with favors and flattery.
Agreeing to share a drink with Ben later at the reception, Sawyer tried to catch up to Ethan.
He was already several steps down the hall of their floor, when the second elevator chimed behind him.
Not wanting to disturb any hotel guests by shouting, Sawyer jogged to his side placing her hand on his lower back to get his attention. “Hey.” The thrill of her touch reduced his blood pressure just slightly.
Catching her breath, “I feel like I haven’t talked to you all day. How are you?”
“Fine,” his tone curt.
“That was quite an impressive following I witnessed down there today. I mean, I saw a bit of it in Miami, but those were mostly pharma execs,” she tried gauging his mood, “I bet you’re glad to finally have some time to yourself.”
“Yes, I am,” he fished for the keycard in his pocket.
“Ah, the downside of fame,” she teased.
A hint of irritation in his voice, “It looked as though you had plenty of your own admirers.”
With a breathy chuckle, “The only people who approached me wanted to know what you were like,” she stated honestly.
“Hmph. Well, this is me. If you’ll excuse me, I have a couple calls to return.”
Disappointed there was no suggestion of going to the reception together, Sawyer dug into her purse in search of her own room key. “Okay. Well, I guess I’ll see you downstairs later,” she said as Ethan entered his room and closed the door. The interaction, or lack thereof, only fueled the festering feelings of insecurity.
A couple hours later, Sawyer approached the entrance to the hotel lounge. Stopping short, she noticed how the other men and women entering the room wore formal cocktail attire. Then sashaying across the hallway in a sequined minidress, Kellie glanced to her right. She scanned Sawyer from head to toe and with a quiet but villainous laugh she walked on triumphantly. As the two-faced ginger crossed over the threshold, Sawyer heard her phony voice ring out. “Ethan. Hello handsome. Come, have a drink with me.”
Turning one hundred and eighty degrees, Sawyer retraced the steps back to her room, all the way debating whether to even return. And if she decided to return to that hyena’s den, she wondered which of the dresses in her suitcase she should change into.
Standing in front of the full-length mirror in her nicest black pantsuit, Sawyer made the decision to fight fire with fire. She thought to herself, she may not be as polished and accomplished as the Harper Emery types who paraded around downstairs, but she did have certain assets that would set her apart from the pack. And she wasn’t afraid to use them.
Shrugging her suit jacket off, Sawyer lifted the ivory silk tank top over her head and removed her bra. She carefully smoothed her wavy hair into a sleek bun and wiped the neutral colored lipstick away, replacing it with a bold shade of red. Her modest jewelry was traded for a sparkly necklace, one that would be sure to draw attention to the aforementioned assets. Tugging her jacket back on, she fastened the only two buttons located at her waist. Sawyer turned from side to side making sure she wasn’t giving too much away, and when she was satisfied, she grabbed her clutch and made her way back down to the reception.
Meanwhile downstairs, Ethan stood at a high table sipping his whiskey neat as Kellie droned on about her recent hormone replacement study. He swept the room often, shifting his eyes to the doorway every time someone entered.
Sawyer was a fairly punctual person. With the reception well underway, Ethan’s concern for her grew. His mind raced with all sorts of theories. The worst was that she might be off with Dr. 90210, who was also nowhere in sight.
Finally revealing her true intentions, Kellie changed the subject. “I ran into Harper a while back. She mentioned that you two were no longer together.”
“We are not. It was time to move on.”
“Are you seeing anyone new?”
Ethan didn’t answer. Instead he shook his head, not in reply but in annoyance, and took a swig of his drink.
“Come on, Ethan. We’ve been dancing around each other for years now. Let’s have some fun tonight,” she pawed at his arm.
As soon as the words left her mouth, Sawyer stepped into the cocktail bar, stealing the attention from many conversations. After briefly surveying the room, her confident form glided in his direction. Ethan chewed the inside of his bottom lip to keep his mouth from falling open. But there was little to be done to stop his eyes from roaming her exposed chest. Her bare breasts taunted him, only the lapels of her suit jacket hiding the most sensitive parts. Sawyer looked from him, to his company, and back again. “Dr. Ramsey,” she acknowledged with a nod as she sauntered past.
“There she is!” Baz shouted as Sawyer approached the bar table where he and June shared drinks. “Whoa, step aside, Beyonce. Sawyer Brooks is the one slaying now.”
After rolling her eyes at his ridiculousness, Sawyer looked around taking in the overall atmosphere, but June easily saw through the farce. Psychoanalyzing, she could tell Sawyer searched for reaction from Ethan and his current companion.
“That is quite the statement you are making, Sawyer. Who exactly is the intended audience?”
Sawyer snapped her head to June, finding a smug expression on her face.
A few tables away, Kellie followed Ethan’s eyes as they tracked Sawyer across the room. Trying to regain his attention, she ran the lapel of his jacket through her fingers, “So, what do you say?”
He looked to the table where his colleagues stood. “Please excuse me. I need to touch base with my team,” he said, grabbing his drink and backing away.
“Good evening,” Ethan met the table, coming to stand at Sawyer’s side.
“Hey, Boss!” Baz greeted in return. “So, how’d you all think it went today?”
June spoke, “I’d say ‘mission accomplished.’ I was approached by an editor from the NEJM who wants to write a feature about the team. And speaking of…” spotting the man, she followed him to the bar.
So that only she could hear, Ethan leaned close to Sawyer’s ear. "You seem to be missing something.”
“If you mean a stiff drink, then yes, I was hoping to fix that.”
His eyes flashed quickly to the fleshy mound peeking out from underneath her suit coat. “Not what I was referring to,” he straightened, “but allow me to remedy the drink issue. I could use another myself. Be right back.”
Baz picked up the conversation asking Sawyer what she had thought about the conference, but was suddenly distracted with a passerby. “Scotty?! Scott Briscoe, is that you? Excuse me, Sawyer,” he apologized, leaving to reunite with his old college pal.
As Ethan waited at the bar for their drinks, he looked back to Sawyer who now stood alone at the table. While it pleased him to find her staring back, he was not thrilled to see men at nearby tables eyeing her as well.
A moment later, Ethan placed a drink in front of her and Sawyer initiated a familiar game of people-watching. As they searched for their next targets, Ethan spotted Ben schmoozing at a table in the far corner of the room. At the same time, Kellie stood nearby glaring at Sawyer.
Ethan jutted his chin toward an exit that led outdoors. “Care to join me for some fresh air?”
“God, yes,” she sighed with relief.
They threw back the rest of their drinks and made their way outside, finding a long and windy path that curved around to an overlook of the ocean.
“So, what’s with the bold look tonight?”
She shook her head. “It’s actually quite embarrassing and pathetic really.”
“What is?”
Taking a deep breath, Sawyer proceeded to tell him about the gossiping women and Kellie’s “kindness.”
“So, anyway…I…I guess I was just feeling a bit insecure and jealous watching these women hang on you all day. And after getting hoodwinked by that Kellie woman, I decided I could either hide in my room all night or play the game using my advantages.”
“Which are?” he was curious.
“That I’m younger and hotter,” she stated proudly, earning a laugh from Ethan.
As they continued down the path, Ethan frequently glanced over at Sawyer trying to understand the root of her jealousy. How could she have any doubt that he only had eyes for her? But he already knew the answer to that question. The uncertainty of their situation was of his own making.
“You know there’s no reason to be jealous, right?”
When she barely acknowledged him, he reached for her hand, stopping them in their tracks. “Hey. I know I’ve spent the last several months confusing you. And I’m genuinely sorry, Sawyer. But whether it’s a crowded room or a busy hallway at work, my eyes are always and only searching for you,” he affirmed. “You stole my attention in that waiting room last year and have had it ever since,” pulling her into his arms, “I’m all yours.”
Sawyer squeezed her arms tight around Ethan’s torso, thankful for the confirmation.
After a comforting moment, Ethan pulled back to admire, “I wish I could tell you that jealousy looks terrible on you…but fuck, Sawyer…this sexy power play of yours is a major turn on.” His fiery blue eyes burned right through her, causing Sawyer to shiver.
“Cold?”
“It is a bit drafty,” she giggled.
“Let me try and warm you up.”
Ethan turned her away from him, wrapping an arm around her waist to hold her snug to his chest. Grazing his lips past her ear, she felt the warmth of his breath before he began placing heated open mouth kisses down the column of her neck. With his free hand, he caressed her goose-pimpled skin from neck to navel, his fingers slipping through the open door of her jacket. He traced around her breast before cupping it with his large palm, kneading tenderly. Not wanting to be neglectful, Ethan gave equal attention to her other side.
Sawyer reached behind, hands holding his hips close, needing to feel more of his hardened length against her ass. “Kiss me,” she urged, tilting her head back.
Obeying, he captured her lips in a hungry kiss, savoring the taste that he had craved every day since Miami. He worked to unbutton her jacket as Sawyer nipped along his jawline. Twisting in his arms, she framed his face and traced her tongue across his lips enticing him to open to her again.
Ethan drove himself into her until she bumped into the wooden railing. Lifting her onto the top rail, he grasped Sawyer’s backside, anchoring his hands firmly to her ass cheeks to prevent a backward fall. A convenient gust of ocean breeze pushed a flap of her unfastened jacket open. And taking advantage, Ethan buried his head into her chest licking and sucking her peaked nipple.
Sawyer’s gasps and moans were visible in the cool night air.
“Mmm…Sawyer,” he mumbled against her silky flesh, “...tell me you’re mine too.”
Dragging him up to eye level, she locked her legs around his waist and slipped her hand between their bodies, eliciting a gratifying groan. Lips barely brushing his, she massaged his erection and purred, “I’m yours, Ethan. Only yours.” Punctuating her declaration, she deepened the kiss.
Pulling back for air, Ethan tilted his head upward and closed his eyes, enjoying the increased pressure and speed of her ministrations. When suddenly he felt a drop of moisture smack his face. Sawyer felt it too on her naked chest. They both looked to the sky, then to each other, bringing their foreheads together as they accepted their defeat against mother nature.
“C’mon, we should get you covered up and back inside before hypothermia sets in,” Ethan helped guide her feet back to the ground.
After adjusting their clothing and making sure the twins were safely tucked back in, Ethan took her hand in his.
As they walked back to the hotel entrance, Sawyer leaned into him. “Ethan, has there ever been a time when you were jealous over me?”
Without hesitation, he answered truthfully. “Yes. Many times.”
“Really?”
“Rookie, I asked you to come out here with me because I saw Doc Hollywood walk into the lounge…and I didn’t want to share.”
“Doc Hollywood?” she looked up in question.
“The handsy blonde guy you were hugging earlier at the conference center.”
With an amused laugh, “Ben? You were jealous of Ben?”
“Why’s that funny? How do you know him?”
“His husband is my good friend from Caltech. I was in their wedding party.”
“Oh,” he said, cheeks flushing red. “Well, either way…I still wanted you all to myself.”

Harper Geraldus in the script
My commentary in this font
Synopsis: At combat vs doppelgangers start, harper Geraldus has this AD.
Harper Geraldus (Harper battle-cry- should be a little weedy, as Geraldus is a tryhard but good-hearted novice): For the fallen!
Harper Geraldus (Explosive relief - you've been trying to send a message with a secret code, resorted to blurting the secret instead and starting a battle) : THEY'RE BLOODY DOPPELGANGERS! -----
Synopsis: Dialog with harpers in Danthelon's Dancing Axe basement ambush. A number of doppelgangers have slaughered a Harper troop and stolen their faces, forcing the one surviving Harper to set Jaheira up for an ambush.
Jaheira in party, player knows harpers are doppelgangers revelaed through True Sight or elsehow
Harper Geraldus : High Harper. May Selûne's Tears shine on this meeting Jaheira (only the slightest hesitation - she&#39s caught the use of the code, and is playing along): …A very formal greeting, Geraldus. You are well? Harper Geraldus (Over-doing the code now, doesn't realize Jaheira gets it.) : Y-yes, High Harper. Standing beneath Selûne's Tears
Hemm (Harper Chelvin steps up beside Geraldus, taking control of the conversation): The lad's a little nervous, Jaheira. We heard of your great victory against Ketheric.
Narrator: *Geraldus' nerves are nothing to do with Jaheira, and everything to do with the doppelgangers beside him. He's using 'Selûne's Tears' as some kind of code.* Jaheira: I understand, Geraldus. Take a moment.
Player passed an insight check to detect Geraldus' nerves
Narrator (Shot of Geraldus darting terrified glances at Chelvin and the other Harpers): *Geraldus isn't nervous, he's terrified- and he's using 'Selûne's Tears' as some kind of code.*
Jaheira in not present, player doesn't know harpers are doppelgangers
Harper Geraldus: You... are not Jaheira.
Player: You... are very observant.
Harper Geraldus: I... I was hoping to greet the High Harper beneath Selûne's Tears.
Player passed an insight check to detect Geraldus' nerves
Player: You're a little lost. Probe Geraldus' thoughts.
Harper Geraldus (if success): Strike, strike, strike - before the doppelgangers do!
Harper Geraldus (if fail): Argh! What did you...?
-----
Synopsis: Dialog with the real harper in Danthelon basement after saving him from a doppelganger ambush. He tells us how Jaheira's Harpers were infiltrated and killed, while he was forced to lure her into a trap. Jaheira will want to dismiss Geraldus for his own safety, but the player can intervene.
Jaheira was present for the doppelganger ambush at Danthelon's axe - either as player or companion.
Harper Geraldus: Did I - did I get it right?
Jaheira: Selûne's Tears. It is said no false face can stand beneath their light.
Jaheira: An old code, Harper - but yes, you got it right. Now I need your report
Harper Geraldus: We had eyes on suspected cultists in the city, like you asked. We thought we were tracking them, but...
Jaheira: They were tracking you instead, evidently. Doppelgangers.
Harper Geraldus: And they're not just working with the cult, High Harper - they're part of it. Bhaalists, I think.
Jaheira: Sworn to Orin the Red, yes. We've... already had the pleasure. Go on.
Harper Geraldus: Everything seemed fine, until... your latest orders. Until we started to search for the Rashemaar.
Harper Geraldus: They struck the same night. I woke to one of them strangling Chelvin, while smiling at me out of her face.
Harper Geraldus: She said - it said - that I'd report back to you as normal. Lure you here, and... I had no choice.
Jaheira: I'm sure it felt that way, Geraldus. The others were likely dragged back to Orin. Tortured. Sacrificed.
Jaheira: I do not expect you to die for me. But to risk Entharl? Any citizen who might have wandered in?
Jaheira: There is always a choice - and a Harper must be able to make the hard ones. Perhaps this isn't the life for you after all, Geraldus.
Harper Geraldus: No. Jaheira - High Harper - please. I'm still a Harper. I want to help.
Jaheira: You've scarcely signed up, boy, and there is a war coming. Why die a Harper, when you could still live as anything else?
Player choices
Player: No one can make that choice for him. Not even you, High Harper.
Harper Geraldus: I want to fight... for Chelvin. For all of them. So it means something.
Jaheira: Death is death. To look for meaning in it is foolishness, boy. Childish, storybook nonsense.
Jaheira: ...Exactly the kind a Harper would spout, I suppose. Fine. I have no right to make the choice for you.
Jaheira: Not when this mess is of my making. I sent the Harpers hunting after the cult without thinking what it would mean to be hunted in turn. Now they are compromised.
Player: She's right, Geraldus. You did your part. Go live your life.
Jaheira: This work isn't for everyone, boy, and there's no shame in that. Go home to your mother, and leave the task to us.
Player: Wait, Jaheira. You're acting like this is his fault - it's yours.
Jaheira: I most humbly beg your pardon?
Player: Geraldus lived so he could warn you. Don't Harpers serve the greater good?
Jaheira: You volunteer wisdom where it is not wanted. All the more galling, then, that you are right.
Player: Enough of the Harper dramatics. What do we do now?
Jaheira: I'll come clean. I did not tell you all about what I hoped to learn here today - I will rectify that.
Jaheira: But first - Geraldus. Does your mother still own that farm in the Dalelands?
Harper Geraldus: Yes, High Harper.
Jaheira: Just Jaheira to you, now. Go on - I have all the help I need.
---
There is a speak with dead (🥲) for Geraldus but it's not very interesting.
---
Synopsis: A dialog with Danthelon's Dancing Axe shopkeeper Danthelon. He facilitates Jaheira's Harpers having a meeting in his basement, and is an old and long-suffering friend of hers.
Entharl Danthelon (Irritated by the Harper kerfuffle below, but cutting off when he realises something is actually wrong): If your lot have cracked another bloody cask, I -
Jaheira: They're dead, Entharl. Doppelgangers were using them as bait.
Entharl Danthelon (A breath, taking the bad news and refocusing himself on the task.): Seems they snared more than they could skin in you. Did Geraldus survive?
If alive and still a harper
Jaheira: Alive. But he'll need some time to recover.
Entharl Danthelon (Nod, all bluster gone. He&#39ll help the Harpers, because he always does): I'll tuck the boy up tight 'til he's ready to get back to Harpering. What will you do?
If alive and no longer a harper: Jaheira: Alive. But a Harper no more. He's better off out of it.
Entharl Danthelon: Likely you're right. I'll tuck him up tight 'til I can ship him back to his mother. What are you going to do?
If dead
Jaheira: Afraid not.
Entharl Danthelon (Quiet frustration and sadness - he talks a lot of shit about Harpers, but Geraldus was just a kid): Waste. A bloody waste. What will you do now?
If haven't fought yet
Player: I think they're impostors - preparing an ambush.
Entharl Danthelon: ...No. Not Geraldus. Boy's too honest. The others? Not sure. But what are you doing up here? Jaheira might not need your help, but she'd surely appreciate it. But what are you doing up here? The boy is in danger!
---
Synopsis: Jaheira party dialogue if you talk to her
Jaheira: Until we know who the false-facers are, we cannot trust anyone beyond ourselves.
If dead Jaheira (Quick, quiet moment of bitterness - she caused his death, but we still have work to do): Geraldus was the last true Harper in the city we could trust - and that availed him little.
If alive and player defended Jaheira (Appraising us - we spoke up against her when no one else dared, and we were right to): Except Geraldus. It has been some time since anyone dared rap my knuckles like you did. No less than I deserve.
If alive and not defended
Player: Except Geraldus - but you cast him aside.
Jaheira (Not self-pitying - bluntly stating that she blundered, and it cost us - but already moving on. The time for mourning is later): A kindness, I hope. My missteps have cost enough lives.
----
Synopsis: asking Jaheira about the harpers
If alive and player defended
Jaheira: If I wanted to spare Geraldus the same headaches, well... you know now why I needed him to be sure this is the life he wants.

Forgotten Flowers
Fandom: Torchwood Pairing: Toshiko 'Tosh' Sato X Owen Harper Content warnings: Content warnings: spoilers for ‘Adam’ canonical memory loss, I think that’s it Word count: 953
Toshiko Sato woke up with a crick in her neck.
She was slumped over the briefing room’s table, and when she looked around, she found Ianto, Gwen, and Owen all at the table as well.  Jack was nowhere to be found, and that wasn’t actually that surprising.  Owen was just waking up as well, blinking and frowning adorably, like a kitten just woken.  “What the bloody h3ll’s going on?”  He muttered, as confused as she was.
“I don’t know.”  Tosh admitted, moving her arms back and to the sides to stretch.  “Last thing I remember is going to bed.”
“I think I fell asleep watching the telly.”  Owen said.  Noticing something on the table next to him, he frowned.  “Why are my old reading glasses here?”
“And where are mine?”  Tosh queried, patting herself down in search of her wayward spectacles.
Ianto made a sound, sitting upright.  He looked around in as much confusion as they were in, then stood up and poked his head out the doorway.  “Jack?”  He called.  “Jack?”  Turning away from the door again and going to Gwen’s side, he asked, “Have either of you seen Jack?”
Tosh shook her head.  “No, we’ve only been awake a minute.  He could be in his office.”
Nodding, Ianto gently shook Gwen’s shoulder.  Tosh stood and walked out of the room, stretching either arm across her chest.  She headed for her computer, pulling up system files and the CCTV logs.  Gwen and Owen emerged and also opened up the computers, the three of them conferring on which avenues to pursue for answers each.
“Has anyone seen my diary?”  Ianto asked.  Receiving a collective negative, he disappeared again in search of his book.
Several minutes passed as the three of them fruitlessly scoured their resources for any clue as to what had transpired between their last memories and waking up.  “Jack, how have we lost two days?”  Gwen queried as their wayward leader appeared.
“What do you mean?”  He asked.
“Last 48 hours- none of us can remember a thing.”  Ianto clarified, re-entering the Hub.
“The system’s blank, the CCTV’s been wiped.”  Tosh chimed in.  “What’s going on?  What’ve we been doing?”
Their leader was silent for a moment, confusion and suspicion warring on his face.  “I don’t know.”  He admitted at last.
“Great, that’s two days of my life that I’ll never get back.”  Owen remarked dryly.
“Looks like Toshiko got herself a secret admirer, though.”  Jack commented, gesturing to the large vase of flowers that she admittedly hadn’t really noticed on her desk with his mug.
“Oh, yeah?”  Owen seemed to notice as well as Tosh took the card from where it sat among the blooms.
“‘To Tosh, Love and apologies-’” her breath caught as she read the name of the sender, but she pushed past it to finish the card with no noticeable hesitation.  “‘-Owen.’”  She couldn’t help her smile as she looked up at him.  “They’re from you.”
With an amused expression on his face, he opened his mouth to speak, but shut it before actually saying anything.  He came over, pulling his jacket on, and plucked the card from her hands, scanning over it himself.  “Well, I’d say that I don’t do flowers or apologies, but… well, that is my handwriting.”  With a shrug, he offered the card back to her, and she returned it to its place as he gave her a rather rueful half-smirk.  “Must’ve done something awful.  My bad.”
“It’s not like I remember, so… forgiven.”  She replied, her smile widening.  She prayed she hadn’t come across as too lenient.
“You’re not gonna make him beg a little?  Grovel a bit?”  Gwen jokingly critiqued.
Tosh shrugged.  “Like I said, I don’t remember.  It couldn’t have been that bad, and he did apologize.”  (She ignored the rest of the team exchanging looks.)
“Well, that’s a relief.”  Owen said, but whether it was sarcastic or genuine, she couldn’t tell.  “You got anything left to do before you go home?”
Rather startled at his unusual (for him) question, it took Tosh a moment to formulate a response.  “Not much, no.  I was going to close up the windows on the computer and then get a bite to eat on the way to my flat.”  She replied.
After all, she had no idea when and what she ate last.
“Now there’s an idea.  I could go with you, if you like.”  He offered, surprising her even more.  “I’m leaving now anyway, and I’m starving.”
Tosh weighed her options for a brief moment, but it took very little to convince her to agree.  Smiling, she nodded.  “I’d like that.  Thank you.”
He gave her one of his odd little half-smirks.  “There’s a nice sandwich shop not far from here.  I remember seeing smoked salmon on their menu.  That’s your favorite, isn’t it?”
She tilted her head, confused yet pleasantly surprised that he knew her favorite kind.  “How’d you know that?”
He shrugged.  “Must’ve heard you mention it at some point.”
Tosh wondered if maybe he soaked up the little things she said like she did his.  God, she hoped so, even if she was sure it was a foolish hope.  She said nothing, unsure of what to say, and quickly closed out of the windows on her computer.  When she finished, she collected her jacket and bag, and followed Owen outside.
Their colleagues watched them go.  “He’d better not break her heart.”  Gwen was the first to break the pensive, observant silence.
“If he does, I’ll feed him to Janet.”  Jack agreed.
Ianto merely smiled and went in search of his journal again, intending to add this possible new development to the book if he could just bloody find it.

This request is long, sorry...
Harpy PC with Stockholm for the Great Harpy gets found at the tower by humans who take her to Harper (who has met her before) and while trying to cure her stockholm syndrome gets increasingly frustrated with the PC and her "silly costume" and she [Harper] doesn't believe the Great Hawk is actually a harpy.
Harper and Great Hawk are also ladies.
I weirdly like Harper. Not in a sexy way, but I can respect their smarts
“We found her in a stone tower. She was squawking and making a fuss when we removed her.” Handing Harper a purple folder, the nurse rushed alongside her. “She won’t take the wings off either.”
Harper opened the folder as she walked, scanning through the notes that had been written down. She recognized the name of a girl as someone who, on more than one occasion, had been found unconscious in the woods.
“Cathy ‘claims to be a harpy’?” Harper raised an eyebrow. “What does that mean?”
“They’re half bird half human. She also claims to have a lover that’s a harpy. We think it’s a psychiatric issue.”
Stopping outside the patient’s room, Harper pinched the bridge of her nose. Psychiatric patients were practically her specialty at this point. She could handle anyone. But something in her stomach told her this was going to be a long night.
“Find her ‘lover’ and bring them here,” Harper ordered.
“Already working on it, ma’am.”
With a quick nod, Harper gave herself a moment to put on her best “doctor face.” She steadied her breathing, taking a few moments to count each one, before allowing herself into the patient’s room. Cathy sat on the patient bed, hair matted and covered in leaves. A large pair of hawk wings protruded from her back, flapping timidly.
“It’s so good to see you again.” Harper placed her clipboard down, pulling a chair up next to the frazzled girl. “I heard you were found in a tower this time. That’s a good way away from the forest.”
“I need to go back,” Cathy muttered, rocking unsteadily. “Please, just take me back.”
“Now now, Cathy. You’re safe here.” A kind hand made contact with Cathy’s back, brushing away a swarm of feathers. They seemed to be grafted to her skin, possibly an illusion aided by liquid latex.
It wasn’t abnormal for Harper to receive patients dressed in odd costumes, especially in the fall. Little kids dressed as superheroes and older women dressed as…well, Harper didn’t really know what some of her patients were wearing half the time. A bird costume, however, was new.
“Let’s get these wings off so I can examine you, okay?”
Cathy retreated within herself, using her wings as a way to keep herself shielded. It was somewhat impressive, at least to Harper, to see a prosthetic move in such a way. Cathy’s eyes frantically darted around the room, as if she was looking for something specific.
“My lover gave me my wings,” she muttered, rocking harder. “Please, don’t remove them from me. She’ll never recognize me.”
Harper was a bit taken aback, not sure what Cathy had meant. Perhaps there had been some kind of costume party happening at the tower and Cathy’s partner had made her costume. There were no other people reported to be at the moor, so that didn’t seem very likely. Shrugging this off for now, Harper worked on removing Cathy’s top. The fabric repeatedly snagged on the overwhelming amount of feathers, making Harper more and more upset each time.
“Cathy, can you please take this off?” Harper said through gritted teeth.
“Doctor, I already said that I can’t.”
“You’re being ridiculous.” As Harper tugged on the shirt again, Cathy flinched as her wings were pulled back. “Either take them off or I’ll cut them off. I can’t get your clothes off.”
Cathy became hysterical at the threat of having her wings removed, flailing her wings as she tried to back herself against the wall. She seemed to caw between her squeals of terror, screeching at Harper. White hot rage took hold of Harper, and she had to bite back the urge to strike the terrified girl. Claiming to see mythical creatures was one thing, but believing that you were one of them was an entirely different beast. Especially in such a cheaply made costume. Harper had seen better outfits from drunk college students on Halloween. Cathy’s hysteria was working Harper over the edge, and she was at her breaking point.
“I’ll only say this one more time.” Grabbing a handful of feathers, she leered at Cathy. “Take your costume off!”
Harper tightened her grip on the costume before removing a large plume with her hand. Blood spurted from the empty space, splattering across the floor and making it slick with crimson. Both Cathy and Harper erupted into a fit of panicked screaming, trying their best to stop the flow of blood. The former screeched in pain, flailing her ruined wing around. Her frantic movements only aided in covering the rest of the room, and Harper, in red.
“Nurse!” Using her hands to seal the gushing wound, Harper did her best to keep Cathy still. “I need some help here!”
A fleet of nurses rushed into the room, taking Harper’s place in covering the wound and working to patch it up. The doctor stood frozen for a moment, feeling the blood drip from her hair and down her face. Something about it only served to make her more frustrated, like Cathy had bled on purpose.
“Someone find that damned woman already and bring them to me!” Storming out into the hallway, Harper tried to wipe the blood away from her hands.
Harper pulled a small carton out from the pocket of her lab coat, sulking on an outside bench. She shook out a slender white stick, sticking it in her mouth and placed the carton back where she got it. The nighttime ambience helped soothe her agitated nerves, but it wouldn’t wash the blood from her clothes. Something was off. Very, very off. Perhaps Cathy’s costume was just rigged to spray fake blood. That seemed like a bit of overkill, but it was possible. Harper took a moment to lick some of the blood from her coat, savoring the taste.
It was definitely real. Harper held the cigarette between her teeth, staring up at the gloomy night sky. She couldn’t wrap her mind around what had happened and felt a bit defeated. If these tales of bird-human hybrids and wings gifted by them were true, there were bigger issues at hand than delusions. Leaning back on the bench, Harper locked eyes with the charge nurse who had appeared in front of her. The tired doctor gave a small wave to the man and patted the spot next to her.
“Is that a cigarette?” he asked, sitting beside the disgruntled woman.
“A candy one.” Taking a bite of the cigarette in her mouth, Harper spat out the overly sweet chunk. “Rots the teeth instead of the lungs.”
A gentle chuckle came from the charge nurse as he took the rest of the candy from Harper with his teeth, eating it in front of her.
“We found that lady Cathy was talking about.” Dusting the chalk like candy from his mouth, the charge nurse stood with a grunt. “They’re both in her room if you want to come see.”
A similar groan slipped from Harper’s mouth as she joined her friend in standing, stretching out her back.
“She better have wings and a beak, or I’ll lose it.”
The charge nurse made a slight noise, gesturing vaguely to his feet.
“Talons, no beak,” he muttered. “And her wings are massive.”
The pep in Harper’s step returned as she reentered the hospital, hurrying to see whatever hellish monster was brought to her. The charge nurse followed quickly behind, struggling to keep up with the overly excited doctor. Harper chattered about what she was expecting. A human with talons and wings would be a fascinating thing to study, and Harper made a slight comment about staying all night. Her eyes gleamed and sparkled as she spoke, sending a worried shiver down the charge nurse’s spine.
Opening the door, Harper was greeted by an interesting site. What appeared to be a harpy woman was perched on the edge of Cathy’s bed, wings spanning nearly half the length of the room. Whenever Cathy would speak, the harpy would squawk and caw in reply. Harper stood there, hands on her hips as she watched the two converse in utter disbelief. There seemed to be an understanding between the two that she couldn’t wrap her mind around. Every once in a while, Cathy would caw her own reply, excitedly moving her wings and hands. They continued on like that, unaware of anyone else in the room.
“Find me an empty room with two beds,” Harper whispered to a nurse. “And get me an OR slot.”

watched that movie, Men, that came out this year, by alex garland and man, it was a wild crazy movie. its definitely a movie that will keep you captivated, esp the last third when it really goes off the rails.
tho the early parts of the move has those lulls in it where not much is going on and you can find your mind sort of wandering off, but then you really find yourself engrossed in whats happening. i was def literally on the edge of my seat for many scenes, cause alex garland really expertly crafted this icky sense of foreboding and dread. you are experiencing all these weird little creepy moments with the main character, harper, played by jessie buckley, who is really great.
i dont really want to say much about the plot in case it ruins it for anyone, eventho the plot is fairly simple, but essentially its about a woman whos gone thru a tragic experience, which still haunts her, and either as a result of that tragedy or not, she decides to rent an old old house in the english countryside, where... really creepy things start happening to her. i think id categorize this as a horror movie, but theres so much more to it than just one kind of genre. it is without a doubt a hair raiser. the hair literally stood on end for me in quite a few scenes in the early part of the movie where the threat was just starting to build.
its shot so so beautifully. garland gives the idyllic english landscapes this really creepy vibe. i noticed, more so at the beginning, (i didnt notice towards the end) that he shot a lot of scenes with a vignette on the lens, so many of those scenes at the beginning, esp along the abandoned train track and tunnel have this unnerving sense that you are watching the main character, harper, thru the eyes of whatever the threat is. kind of, pov of the serial killer a little. at least thats how it felt to me.
technically, this is so so good. from lighting to editing to even the depth of field it all helps build this claustrophobic feel to many scenes. garland even uses a couple shots that were very kubrick like. like, idk man, when you are like following a character and they are dead center in the frame and the camera is moving along behind them, it always feels creepy because of kubrick. of course the music and sound track help to build it too. its really unnerving when they use jessie buckleys voice and echo. it helps really ratchet up the tension.
man, i really want to talk about the last third because thats where it really took a wild left turn into weird body horror and its just crazy. one scene where harper finally uses the knife through the mail slot, i literally was making guttural gasps, it was gross and fantastic and weird. and thats not even the wildest part of it all lol its just so weird and crazy and gross. it was literally wtf (one minor criticism might be that all that weird shit doesnt quite seem to have a whole lot to do with all the other plot elements that preceded it... or maybe it did and i just am not smart enough to put it together. idk, either way, it wasnt enough to ruin the movie, and tbh all that crazy shit enhanced it somewhat, eventho i didnt know what the fuck was going on)
needless to say, def watch it if youre in the mood for some creepy weird gross folk-y horror. i think i have my own ideas of what garland was going for, cause like i said i def was a little unsure what was happening at the end. like i kinda thought this may all be in her head, but they make sure to show that it may not have been. that it may have all been real. idk. its all sort of left to the viewer to decide what happened, which i generally like. i dont particularly like movies that spell things out so clearly. and there is not a lot of clarity to what is and what isnt happening at the end. which im ok with.

The White Lotus Ep 5 and 6 Liveblog
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
Episode 5 thoughts
Tanya is annoying but I hate to see these men con her and belittle her.
The way this couple is looking at Harper is oooo its hot as fuck. Aubrey is so fine too.
Tumblr media
The opera scene is actually very sweet but I am still suspicious of this man and his whole group.
Oh they are broke.....damn tonya you are about to be "had".
That is a ginormous secret that Daphne just dropped. Whew lord they better hope that secret doesn't get out because they are in a dysfunctional but happy stable marriage.
Tumblr media
"Uncle" or uncle? Cause he has been giving me rent boy since this group showed up together.
Albie might be an actual nice guy but he screams incel at moments, other moments he just seems like a sweet boy trying not to be like his dad and granddad.
I think Lucia is going to have a fiance or something because that guy was like.....hmmm. Oooo or that could be her brother and he is trying to be like "be more discreet".
Episode 6 thoughts
Can these four fuck already cause they're drawing out this jealous power play, and I don't want to come out of this show hating either Daphne or Harper. We as a society really do love a deranged woman.
I want Mia and Lucia to have the best life ever because they done so much for this hotel and only one is being paid.
Ethan is hot but man does he got some serious resentment bubbling against Cameron. It is kind of funny that he was so "IM NOT CHEATING" only to turn around and start thinking his wife is going to petty fuck his "friends". (He definitely may be right based on Cameron's past but I need him to take a second, collect himself, and then bring it up. Oh wait but then he'd have to take his wife's approach.
Tumblr media
This 3 generation men trio being turned away from a matriarchy mirrored household is pretty funny. Its even funnier because they may be blood related.
Ethan is bugging! Daphne and Cameron are messy and full of lies but they are really functional. They also clearly do care about eachother whereas Harper and Ethan don't even seem to like eachother. Sexual attraction aside in ep 1 and 2 all he did was talk down on what she wanted to do on the trip. It was pushback from every side and he was the one person who could be like "oh honey that is a great choice" without it seeming ingenuine. I wonder why they got married.
Not these gays about to set Tonya up with a boy toy and snow ❄. I hate it because this group seem to have alterior motives. British boy is drowning himself in alcohol to prepare for whatever meanwhile killing Portia's mood.
Tumblr media
Not the replacement ending up an actual creeper.
Boyfriend? Fiancee? Ughhhh oh Valentina is hurt. Hey at least the receptionist is a little aware that it hurts but still wanted to celebrate her birthday.
Tumblr media
Ethan has mur der in his eyes. 😭
Granddad realized he might be a bad person after not getting what he's been searching for. The comfort of a woman. 😂 someone has mommy issues for sure.
That's a very pretty martini glass. The stem is so skinny and the bowl/cup area is so thin as well. Very nice glasswork or prop pulled.
I thought for a second they weren't actually going to have a party/a gallery. But they didn't lie about that at least.
A gun? To a blizzard? Oh Tanya please be careful.
Tumblr media
Is Valentina not out out? Ohhh she's just never done that. Mia is actually being very sweet albeit forward about this.
Lucia and Albie actually really do like eachother, even if this ends up just a trip romance.
Valentina looks so afraid and Mia is like let me give you a birthday gift.
Jack is a rouse I think in general and especially now getting her to stay away from the villa, but he also being an obnoxious United fan so he should probably sober up.
Ay Valentina get you a lil something something on your birthday.
Tumblr media
Not Ethan making up scenarios, this is going to end up so so bad. Especially with all these statues that provoke the mind and expose the truth of everyone's intentions.
I wonder how much of what is happening to or being told to Tonya is false and how much is true.
The reddit super sleuths were right, like how tf did they even catch this all those previous episodes. Albeit that is one of the weaker storyline this season, the Greg or Carl dude Tonya shacked up with in season 1.
Boy toy just out here in his birthday suit but I appreciate that he's taking the gentle approach with Tonya.
SERIOUS! Can someone identify the painting of the woman with the dagger?
Oop not Jack spilling fucking tea. I hope Portia a. Helps Tonya see the light and b. Stops complaining to this boy so it can't be used against her later.
Tumblr media
Ep 7/Finale next week woot woot. My prediction is its Cameron, Ethan, and then a red herring. Trailer is looking mighty spicy for the finale. Also, I like that the Italian actors are getting their own moment to shine in certain episodes for their character development and we get to see their post show bts talk back. "All the characters are tragic and funny."

Tumblr media
On Thursday, Harper had a day off. She didn’t have to go to base. She still got up early. It was a wonderful day, the sun was shinning bright and the high temperatures invited you to take a bath in the Pacific Ocean’s cold water. She was gonna spend her day surfing. As it was quite hot, Harper chose not to wear neoprene, instead put on a longsleeved swimsuit. She also got some jean shorts. She got back to the Hard Deck parking lot, like always. This time she found Penny inside the bar, cleaning.
“Day off?” she asked once she saw the brunette in a swimsuit and her keys in hand.
“Yeah. I’ll catch some waves” she said leaving her keys in the back room so no one could take them.
“Have fun!” Penny yelled with a smile.
“Thanks”
That day the ocean was more agitated than the day before, so Harper spend the next couple of hours in the water, enjoying the strength of the ocean at its peak. She was waiting for the next train of waves when she heard a whistle. She turned to the shore, looking for the lifeguard in case it was dangerous, but it wasn’t any lifeguard. On the shore, about ten meters from her, a group of people were playing with two footballs. She cursed under her breath the moment she recognised them. Obviously, they couldn't be other than the Top Gun pilots. She thought about leaving now, but changed her mind. It was a public beach, and she wasn’t going to let those pilots fuck up her wonderful day.
However, she couldn’t get them out of her head. Every now and then she turned to see them playing. It looked like a football game, but they played defense and attack simultaneously, hence the two balls. It seemed like they were having fun, because they celebrated every point as if it was a real match and were messing around. Harper was grateful that they were so far away, because most were shirtless, only one of them wore his. Then she saw Bradley and she thought about diving into the cold water and let herself drown. He was shirtless, like the rest, and his short jeans hung from his hips a few centimeters below normal,  showing the elastic of his underwear and the v-shape of his hips. He didn’t lack his aviators either. If you took the latter, it would be as if her dream had partially come true, the only part missing was the make-out session. At least she knew it was never gonna happen. As she watched him run and throw the ball, Harper noticed the well-defined muscles of his arms and chest, flexing now and then. It was actually mesmerizing, soon she found herself thinking of how it would feel to touch them, for him to hold her in his arms… Shit, she had to do something. She was losing her mind.
Realizing that her thoughts were geting out of control, Harper decidede it was time to leave. She paddled to one side, away from the area where they were playing football and got out of the water. She didn’t want to be seen or recognized, that would be worse.
She was over the Hard Deck door, thinking she had made it, that she was safe, when her hopes got smashed by a voice shouting her callsing. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. She had been so close… Harper turned around to look at Maverick, who smiled at her from a beach hammock. Penny was by his side, on the sand. The pilots were still on the shore, playing, but some had stopped once they heard their instructor calling her. Harper considered ignoring him and entering the bar, but her father and Ava had not raised her that way. Then, she remembered she hadn’t put on the neoprene that day, so she had the skin of her thights fully showing. She usually wasn’t self conscious, her body was what it was, but being surrounded by all those fit pilots wasn’t doing her any favour. Besides, she was their doctor, a profesional, it didn’t feel right for them to see her like that. She took her board back under her arm, trying to cover herself with it as much as she could without being too obvious, and approached the couple.
“I’ve heard that’s your callsing. I supposed it has to do with this” Maverick asked, pointing at her board.
“Yes. I got it when I was twelve. It was Gilles Franco, “Fash”, while he was at the academy” she explained, thinking they knew who Fash was because they moved in the same circles, he was also a pilot. “He was the one who taught me how to surf and said I looked like a siren coming out of the water, so he started to call me that half-joking. Soon after, the rest began to do so too, and it remained as my callsing” she finished shuddering her shoulders. While she was telling them the story, Harper felt all the pilots’ gazes on her, a hazel one more than the rest, but she kept her eyes on Maverick.
“I thought only pilots got callsings” talk one of them. Harper recognized him as Robert “Bob” Floyd, tho only one with a shirt. By his side was one of the only two female pilots of the mission, Phoenix, who elbowed him trying to be discreet, to point out to the man that his comment might offend her. Harper was used to it.
“And it’s true, but when you are raised surrounded by pilots, you end up been partialy like them” she answered with a small smile.
“Where you heading home? They’re playing football and I left a spot on one of the teams for you if you want it” Maverick offered her with a bottle of water in hand.
“Thanks, but I have to get back home”  she apologized, pretending she was really sorry. She wasn’t gonna do it. Her main rule was to get away from the pilots as much as possible, and to play football with them was quite the opposite.
Maverick nodded, though it was clear he had not believed her. Harper said her goodbyes —trying not to look directly at neither of them— and headed back to the Hard Deck to collect her keys and get away as fast as possible. Once by her car, Harper put on her shorts and shoes before lifting her surfboard over the car’s roof.
“I didn’t know you could surf”
Harper jumped from the fright and turned around to see who had approached her so stealthily from behind. Her eyes moved on their own, roaming on his body. His light brown curls were tangled in the wind. He had his aviators on, but they had slipped through his nose, so she could see his hazel eyes, looking at her with an amused glow that matched the side smile he had in his mouth, partially covered by his mustache. Then she went down his bare chest to the beginnig of the jeans, where she could make out the little trail of hair that disappeared under the hem of the fabric. She squeezed her thighs unconsciously and cursed herself when his gaze turned to that point with the movement. He looked up and down at her body with a flirty smile.
“What do you need, Lieutenant Bradshaw?” she asked turning back to secure her board to the roof. She figured if she tried to be as professional as possible, she could keep her temptations at bay.
“How come someone from the Navy hate the Navy so much? I can see the way you look at us, as if you wanted to drown us in the ocean” he said, walking to the other side of the car to help her make the knots, and because that way she couldn’t avoid him.
“I don’t hate the Navy” she asured dryly, earning a glare from Bradley. “It’s true. I don’t hate pilots either, if that’s was you assumed. At least not all of you. The thing i can’t stand is that you think you’re inmortal. You do maneuvers and movements in the sky as if you were invincible. And then, when something goes wrong, you depend on someone else to try to save you, I in this case. But we’re no gods. We can’t do magic. We’re just people who have to save your lives. You don’t even consider the havoc you leave behind when we can’t do it.
She lifted her head and found Bradley looking directly at her.
“I’ve never thought about it that way” he confesed, running his hand through his tangled curls. Harper laughed falsely.
“Of course not. You are only interested in being the fastest, the one who flies highest and the one who has it bigger” she continued angrily. Bradley would have been offended if it wasn’t for noticing something else. Harper wasn’t talking in general, she was talking about one particular person.
“That must have been a really dumb pilot, if he broke you this way, making you hate on all of us” he asured walking back to her. Harper felt her pulse picking up when he stopped just a pair of inches from her. “How long were you two together?”
Harper laughed once she undestood what he had suppossed.
“I’ve never been with a pilot. I’ve lived all my life surrounded by them, but never dated one” she answered looking up at him, at his hazel eyes, which seemed to be trying to figure her out.
“Who then? Who made this to you?” he asked again, gently. His eyes were now soft, as if he was really worried about this.
Harper almost broke, she almost told him the truth, but in that moment they heard the noise of the other pilots and Bradley noticed the exact moment she closed herself again. He complained mentally, they weren't making things easy.

Robin Jason, a friend and ally of the Titans.
PART 1.
Last Friday I was feeling extra rage-y after the news about the Titans mini with the Titans show line-up of heroes. I still think that a) Jason shouldn’t be considered a Titan or be in the team as Red Hood and b) that him going back to wearing a bat symbol on his chest is just bad but as @randomlut said there is a possibility of that book not being set in DC’s current universe and if that’s the case then okay, I will not complain about it anymore.
But this post isn’t about that Titans book it’s about Jason’s Robin’s appearances in volume two of the New Teen Titans!
Now, this won’t be an in-depth review of those issues from a story point of view, it will be a post in which I talk about Jason’s characterization and interactions with the Titans. Maybe I will even dive a little bit into why I think that the interactions that Jason and Roy have in those issues makes the relationship that they had in New52 very out of place.
Let’s begin!
·         NTT (1984) #19
Jason as Robin appears here only in the last page of the issue. After the current team of the Titans appears to be falling apart Donna calls Jason and others to help in a mission, this team that she puts together resembles the “original” line-up with Robin, Speedy, (Kid) Flash, Aqualad and Hawk.
·         NTT (1884) #20-21
Jason appears in the Titans tower along the OG Titans, when Donna finally tells them what the mission is all about (stopping Cheshire from interrupting a meeting) she asks if they are in on the job, Jason is not only excited about being there but about Batman actually letting him come all the way to the tower. A little bit of what Jason thinks or saw in Bruce is shown when Wally says that he “didn’t think the Batman could be thrilled by anything. He is always so grim.”
Tumblr media
Basically, what Jason says is that the Bat isn’t that bad if you get to know him and that he cares about Jason’s education outside of vigilantism. Also, Jason seems to be grateful and very receptive of the things that Bruce taught him, he regards him as a very good mentor.
After everyone decides to help, they get on their jet. Here we have a very important interaction between Jason and Donna, she is telling him how she is feeling about the attitude of the rest of the team and about how she is a little bit lost now that she is in charge of the Titans and then she asks what Robin thinks about the whole thing, Jason is obviously thrilled once more, someone as experienced as Donna is asking him for his opinion? It blows his mind away! Batman never does that, he is always following his lead and never has a say on what they do so, to him, helping the Titans is only getting better and maybe he will ask the Bat to let him join them permanently.
Tumblr media
Because they were talking Donna wasn’t paying much attention while flying and after they barely avoid crashing the jet, she apologizes to everyone and once more looks for reassurance with Jason, this time Jason is caught off guard but after Hawk teases him about his hesitation he tells her that “everything’s okay”.
When they arrive to Switzerland (where the meeting will be held) we have Jason’s first interaction with Roy Harper and him also slowly transforming into a burrito, that boy was cold and pissed off about it!
Tumblr media
It’s really funny to me that Roy talking about Oliver’s pervy arrows is his very first interaction with Jason, who would have thought that a mad man would later make them besties?
They all go inside a building to get warm and for a while Jason is just chilling while the other Titans are all having an existential crisis, because here is the thing, Jason is a kid, he was presumably 14 here while all the other are in their twenties. Donna is having trouble with her new position as leader of the Titans, Wally is trying to live up to Barry, Garth is grieving his love, Roy is still very uncomfortable about being on a mission that involves Cheshire and Hank is just crazy. The others are trying to complete a mission while their real-life problems loom over them and Jason is just on an adventure with cool people.
Its not much later than Cheshire attacks the Titans, she first takes on Wally because he is her biggest threat and then detonates a bomb, now here I will give a little bit of context, Cheshire does not want to kill the Titans as of now, she just wants to incapacitate them because them being there is making her own mission more complicated, all I will say is that she doesn’t truly have villainous intentions and that she has a very weak spot for Roy.
Anyway, the bomb incapacitates Garth and Roy and Cheshire also managed to shoot Wally so only Donna, Hank and Jason are left standing to capture Cheshire, but here is the thing, Hank doesn’t want to capture her, he wants to kill her.
Jason has interacted very few times with Hank so far and it has always been Hank teasing him but now as Jason is going to fight Cheshire Hank interrupts him telling him that he will do “what has to be done”. Cheshire of course wont fall easily and I think that at this very moment she is thinking that killing Hank wouldn’t be a bad idea because he is going to mess her plans up! But not to worry as she is raising her gun Jason comes in to save his ass!
Tumblr media
Jason is not a match for Cheshire and after that she quickly subdues him. But what’s important here is two things, first Jason doesn’t want or consider the idea of killing Jade, he just wants to capture her and bring her to justice, secondly, he doesn’t even want her to kill Hank, who has been violent towards every Titan and rude to Jason every single time that he has interacted with him. What I am trying to say is that this IS Robin Jason, he doesn’t think or act the same as Red Hood will in the future, he has his opinions on what punishments killers should get but he is not there to kill anyone himself.
There is this whole page where Donna beats Hank against a tree so he stops killing, because that’s not what the Titans do, she explains that if they do that then the public (that is already quite afraid of them) will just fear them more and they don’t need that, plus she believes that he is acting that way out of grief after losing his brother, as she is saying all of this though she is putting quite a lot of pressure on his chest and that might have ended up in her actually killing Hank if Jason hasn’t been there to stop her.
Tumblr media
Donna is obviously not having a good time and after this she says that she “has had it” and that from now on Robin should “take command” because “its his group anyway”. Oh man…its clear to the reader that Donna is not having a good time being team leader but she also misses a certain person a lot. She is obviously not seeing Jason there, she is seeing Dick, the person that she is used to take orders from but he is not there.
Jason is aware of this, he might be a kid and might not have as many problems as the other Titans as of now but he is not a fool and he doesn’t want people to see someone else when they look at him, so he confronts Donna about what she just said/did.
Tumblr media
Jason is just great in this scene; he just doesn’t want people that he admires to treat him as if he were someone that he isn’t. Just because Dick isn’t there doesn’t mean that he (because he is Robin) can replace him, they are not the same person and they do not have the same experience. He calls out Donna on her behaviour towards him and Donna being an adult takes responsibly for her actions and understands that ultimately, she was hurting Jason’s feelings. We have a kinda wholesome moment when they hug but because this is written by Marv Wolfman and he just can’t help himself, he proceeds to write Jason as a horny teenager. What a way to ruin the moment Marv…
Back to Cheshire, she is about to kick Wally’s face in when she decides to first tell him what he has to tell the others when they wake up, which is “Cheshire remembers”.
Wally tells the Titans Cheshire’s message but none of them truly understands what it means, Hank says that he doesn’t even understand why they are alive. Donna comes to the conclusion that Cheshire might want something from them and this is where Jason gives his thoughts, he says “Doesn’t matter what she wants. We take care of her. She’s a killer.”, its clear once more than although Jason (as Robin) wouldn’t kill anyone he does feel a certain type of way about criminals and wants them to be locked up.
After yet another verbal fight between Hank and Donna the Titans take a cable car to their next location, Jason is shown as exited about the view and the whole experience once more. When they arrive, they find Faraday (the guy that called Donna for help in #19) and he explains a bit more the situation but Jason once more is having trouble staying warm so he goes to the cable car tunnel nearby, but he doesn’t go alone, Roy goes with him because his “costume wasn’t made for this kind of weather either”, in this second interaction between these two we get to see Jason’s detective skills shine.
Tumblr media
Jason has been watching Roy and he found his reaction to Cheshire’s message quite sus. Not only is he showing his detective skills here but he also said in a previous panel this: “The Batman keeps telling me to watch people’s eyes. And every so often I notice you become awfully agitated…like something was going on you didn’t want to be part of”.  Zdarsky, hey pal, I am talking to you, look at this dude! He read Roy like an open book, this is Robin Jason, he likes being Robin and he is brilliant at it, he is methodical because he learnt from paying attention and working with Batman, so, you sir are wrong, not only did UtRH disprove your dumb narrative but so does this interaction (along all his appearances in this book).
Roy is impressed by the kid, and yeah, he calls him kid because he is a kid…Roy is visibly older than Jason as he should, do you see it Lobdell? Yeah, there is no dubious age gap between those two as you made it seem. Roy is impressed because between both of them he is the one that is most experienced, not the other way around. How did Lobdell manage to make up a whole as run where not only were Roy and Jason close in age and besties but also Jason was better at vigilantism than Roy and Roy was the one being impressed. It’s wild, wild and bad.
Back to the issue, Jason taken out of the fight quite fast once more by Cheshire and she proceeds to talk to Roy, that’s where we find out that they were lovers and that she feels weak when she is around him because he makes her feel feelings but that’s not all, she tells Roy that he is “the man that fathered my child” …Oh and now she does want to kill him. That’s where #20 ends, so let’s see what happens with Jason in #21.
In the beginning of #21 Jason is conscious once more and when he hears Cheshire’s threat, he attacks her so she can’t shoot Roy, he also says this “Sorry ‘cat’ that’s a definite no-no. Don’t you know mommy’s and daddies should never fight” I, I don’t know why he had to say it like that…the 80s were weird. While Jason is being himself Roy is thinking “Don’t be cocky kid, Jade hasn’t got a sense of humour…” but because he wants to talk to Jade, he tells Jason to go, that he will handle Cheshire and he leaves.
Roy and Jade talk, Donna and Hawk are fighting bad guys and each other and at some point, Jason joins Garth and helps him take down a couple of guys, he also tries to make conversation with him but Garth is still not talking to anybody.
Cheshire tells Roy that he will never hear about their child again and that he needs to let her do her thing and stay out of it because he doesn’t understand what’s going on, Roy doesn’t do what she asks and she “poisons” him. Donna saves a guy that Hank was trying to kill. After Cheshire leaves Roy comes to the conclusion that she wasn’t there to kill the people from the meeting or that she poisoned him, but because they were there and everything went to shit now the people that were getting together are blaming the Titans for the interruption. The whole thing is a mess and the news channel are not nice about the Titans as a whole, but I am not interested in exploring that here. All you need to know is that the people that made Cheshire do what she did to the Titans were the Brother Blood people.
It’s on the jet that we see Jason again, he and the others are going back to the tower. Because the news are painting the Titans as bad when they are arriving to the tower Jason sees a lot of people protesting about them and he feels bad. This was his first job with the Titans and he is a kid, imagine how sad it would make you if you wanted to help and after getting the job done people were mad at you. But even though he is sad about that he takes time to ask Roy if he is okay after he sees him almost running away from the tower, he doesn’t get a response but he isn’t mad about it.
Jason’s stay with the Titans comes to and end and he says that he loved hanging out with them and is grateful for having been invited, he is so sweet!
Tumblr media
·         NTT (1884) #24
Here, for some reason, we see Jason saying goodbye to the Titans again and unlike at the end of #21 Roy is there to see him leave.
Tumblr media
I am not going to lie though; I liked this goodbye better it feels like it’s more complete than the other one. Here he says that Batman wants him back in Gotham but that if the Titans ever need him again all they need to do is call. He also mentions Nightwing which is funny because he will be called by Donna again in #26 to help the Titans get Dick back from Brother Bloods Church.
I am going to cut this part here because issues 26 to 31 have a lot of Jason content that I want to explore and I can’t put any more pictures here, also this post is already long as it is now!
I just love Jason’s little moments in these issues, him confronting Donna and reading Roy like and open book in #20 are my absolute favourite, I just think this is a nice way to kinda show how wrong some current characterizations of Robin Jason are and what better way to do that than reading and looking into some good stories.
Oh! Before I forget, in #21 Roy leaves the Titans’ tower to go see Jade and he actually gets to meet his daughter Lian for the first time, so yeah, that was a wholesome moment!

Thinking about what I want from season 4 and my question is aside from Angela being the one to call Tim out on his feelings, who’s another plausible option for either of them? Maybe Ang is busy sorting this Wes issue. Could it be Harper or Grey calling out Tim? Weirdly I almost would love to see Nolan or Harper see it in Lucy first? How do you headcannon/imagine this going down?
The best things about the way they are writing Chenford at the moment, is that it could be anyone!
Smitty could do it, he could request that they stop using him as a pawn in their games.
They could bring back Wrigley, and he could be like, “I knew you guys had great chemistry back in the day, but I had no idea that it was love”, I can literally see Tim’s open mouthed face…
I don’t necessarily want them to bring back Isobel, but it could work to reveal to them the depth of their feelings…
Tim and Lucy could do it accidentally to themselves, getting in a heated argument about procedure or something, and then one of them is like, “I don’t care what the process is, I’m always going to be freaked out when the person I love does that!”.
Or! What if Lucy has to go through the process of telling, and then convincing, Tim that she is serious when she says she has feelings for him.
I think that Nyla already knows about the Tim and Lucy of it all… but she’s not going to do more than give them knowing looks.
Grey would be a lot of fun, because he could phrase in a way that makes Tim’s whole life flash before his eyes. I would like it if Grey were to say, “I’m assigning Lucy to ride with (literally anyone but Nolan), because you can’t supervise someone who you have feelings for”, Tim would for sure be speechless.
As for Nolan, I have a fic where Lucy tells Nolan about her and Tim, and she wants to get the phrasing right about why it’s worthwhile for her to be with Tim, when it wasn’t with Nolan, and I would like that kind of awareness from Nolan. Of him being able to see that Lucy loves Tim, and that Tim is the right fit for Lucy. If it were Nolan who noticed, I would want him to be happy for Lucy, and be able to acknowledge that Tim/Lucy is worth the risk.
TBH, I just wish someone, even someone on a call, would be like, “how long have you two been married?”
I always want Chenford.

I like you
Warnings: None
Pairings: John Murphy/reader
“Okay, this is ridiculous.” You stood up and slammed your chair back.
Since living on the ring small pairings had happened over time, it almost reminded you of being at school on the ark. Echo and Bellamy, Emori and Raven, Harper and Mont, while you were happy for your friends to have somebody to either be great friends with or being in a relationship with, it didn’t help take the sting out of the fact your person was gone. Murphy detached himself from the rest of the group and you were miserable without him.
“I tried yesterday,” Bellamy sighed. “I don’t think he’s coming back.”
“He’s a lost cause.”
You glared at Emori. Murphy was lost, and just needed help. A part of you blamed Emori for Murphy isolating himself from the rest of the group. He could handle the breakup, but the humiliation he felt being the ‘bad guy’ again was too much for him.
“I’m still going to try.”
“Of course you are, you and him have that special bond right?” Emori was glaring at you in return. She had always felt threatened by your relationship with her boyfriend even though it was never anything more than a friendship.
Shaking your head you ignored her question and made your way towards Murphy’s ‘side’ of the ship. He was the only person you’d told what happened when the mountain men and grounders took you, and he told you what Ontari made him do. You both kept each other’s secrets while supporting each other the best you could.
“No! You can just turn back and around and fuc- Y/N?” Murphy came to a halt when he saw you standing there. “It’s been a while.”
“It has, I’m sorry I didn’t come back sooner but I thought you needed some space.”
He scoffed at your comment, “I told you to stay away.”
“And when have I ever listened to you?”
“Good point.”
You stood awkwardly for a moment before walking further into the room. Murphy backed off, “just stay there.”
“Enough is enough John!” You snapped. The mixture of anger and sympathy for your friend was bubbling out at once. “Do you know how hard it is? I’m always worried about you, I’m scared you are going to do something stupid!”
“Well you shouldn’t!” He threw his arms up in defeat, “I should have done everybody a favour and died a long time ago.”
“Please don’t say that…”
“Why? Everybody hates me!” His words and yelling took you by surprise so you said nothing still startled. Murphy let a dark chuckle before turning to leave the room, “that’s what I thought.”
You immediately stepped further into the room, “I like you!”
He stopped in his tracks, “you're just trying to be nice Y/N like always.”
Tears began to fall down your cheek as you suddenly realised that Murphy really believed nobody cared. Seeing you cry made him shift uncomfortably, “just go I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“You’d never hurt me John, we both know that.”
“I ruin everything I touch.”
You stepped closer to him, “that’s not true! And for the record I’ve never hated you, I’ve always liked you from the moment we landed on earth.
“You’ve almost died because of me multiple times,” you could see the tears glistening in his eyes as you slowly made your way towards him. “I shot you and Raven in the drop ship.”
“That was an accident.”
“You tried to murder me.”
“That was different,” you protested. “I was under the influence of A.L.I.E I had no control over my actions.”
Murphy finally stopped staring at the wall and looked at you, “I let Finn massacre that village because I thought they might have taken you.”
You stood frozen on the one spot, Murphy had never shared that information with you before. You didn’t know what to say. “Yeah, so you know I’m a monster. Just like Finn, I should have been killed with him!”
“Why didn’t you tell me before?”
“You're the only person who has always shown me kindness, I didn’t want you to hate me.”
Sure you’ve fallen out a few times over the years but you could never hate him. “You’re my best friend John, I would have done the same thing if I thought it would save you.”
He stared at you blankly, “no your wrong. Nobody is twisted as me. Just go Y/N, I don’t need you.”
Regardless of his words hurting, you ignored his comment. “I fought for your banishment to be lifted, I stood in front of Bellamy when he pointed a gun in your face, I defended what happened in that village to everyone. I took a lashing from Pike because I refused to tell him where your whereabouts. You’ve always saved me John. You have saved my life countless times, and always defended me. So don’t you dare say you don’t need me,” you sobbed. “Because we both need each other.”
Murphy gulped down, “y...you don’t need me. I’m worthless Y/N, and I don’t want to drag you down with me.”
You swung your arms around Murphy's body and held him tightly. At first he tried to resist but then he hugged you back. You stayed like that until he pulled away, “come on I want to show you something.”
You accepted Murphy's hand as he led you to another room you’d never been in before. You gasped entering it because it was the most amazing sight you’d ever seen. “Wow, I get why you’d never want to leave here.”
“Yeah,” Murphy let go of your hand slouched down against the window. “It’s peaceful.”
You stood close as you could to the large window and smiled gazing at all the stars, “thank you for showing me this.”
Murphy shrugged. Rolling your eyes you sat down beside him and leaned your head against his shoulder. You were expecting Murphy to try and move away but instead he pulled you closer, and started to run his fingers through your hair. You sat in a comfortable silence until Murphy finally spoke again, “can I tell you something?”
“Yeah,” you were curious to know what he was about to say. Although he seemed emotionally drained, a hint of a smirk was slowly appearing on Murphy’s face.
“I’ve always liked you too.”
