College!Harry x Fairy!Reader (Autumn Themed)
Tumblr media
Warnings: None…yet
Summary: Y/N is a fairy. From her home in the clouds, she hears wishes and grants them. Then, she hears after granting hundreds of wishes over the years, she hears the specific wish she's always been waiting for, the one from her soulmate. Harry is an awkward, shy college freshman when his wish is granted with the appearance of his soulmate. Y/N. She's perfect. Out of this world. But for how long will she be able to stay in this world with Harry?
Full Story will be 18+.
Posting teaser for feedback!
Harry was in the midst of a breakdown. He was failing his classes, on the verge of losing his football scholarship with how many games he’d fumbled. His roommates/teammates were annoyed with him on all fronts. They resented him for his performance and just plain disliked him. He could feel it. Taste their distaste each time he came home, entered the living room, and went to the kitchen. Their conversations would be quiet. They would plan movie nights without him. Go to parties he wasn’t invited to. Harry felt like a loner. So tired of trying to appear altogether. Trying to gain the respect of his roommates, his classmates, his coach. He’d made the mistakes of dozing off in lecture earlier that day and his professor had made sure to make an example out of him. It was mortifying. All those curious, judging eyes turned on him in that huge lecture hall.
So there he sat, on his favorite hill, the one outlooking his small New England hometown. It was Thanksgiving and he was due home hours ago. He’d arrived on time but just couldn’t bring himself to walk through the door. He was ashamed. He was a twenty year old freshman, struggling to make friends. Harry had struggled in school and it had taken him an extra year to complete it. After that, he’d taken a year to buff up his resume, trying to get into a good college. He’d succeeded, even landing a scholarship. Harry had thought things were going to change for him. That it was his turn to start winning. He didn’t want to look his parents in the eye and have to lie to them. That nothing was really all that different. He was flunking out no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t get anything right. He had no friends. Nothing good to say. No funny stories or adventures.
He sighed, his stomach sinking at the sight of the sun touching the horizon. He’d stalled as long as he could. The sky was so clear, the moon was visible in the daylight. “I wish I could just have one thing. One thing that’s mine. One thing I’m good at. Or maybe just one person who doesn’t think I’m a complete ass. I’m so tired of being lonely.”
A gust of wind blew the fallen leaves into a spiraling mess, surrounding Harry, whipping against his cheeks. He felt something between the leaves, something strong, like a burst of energy bellowing through him. And then it was over.
Harry breathed heavily, spooked over the weird wind. He stood up and walked over to his truck but not before dusting off his pants and zipping up his jacket.
He got in the car almost mechanically. Seatbelt. Start the car. Put it in drive. He turned in his seat to get a look at the road when he saw it. Noticed her.
A hoarse sound expelled from his throat as he slammed on the breaks. He stared at her. The stranger sitting next to him.
“Hullo…” She said, smiling shyly. Harry regarded her, too shocked to speak. She was breathtaking. Her cheeks round, her lips full. Her hair pulled into an adorable half-pony, messy with spirals framing her face. She was so… bright. Glowing. Literally. Her energy was faintly visible, a baby pink glow that surrounded her form.
She peered up at him, shifting towards him in her seat. “Are you alright? Harry?”
Her eyes were a vibrant color he’d never seen. She wore a gingham pattern dress, it was shimmery with a square neck bodice that led into a flowy skirt. She looked like a dream. His dream girl.
On a subconscious note, Harry knew he was making a fool out of himself. He was eyeing her with his mouth agape. She appeared concerned with the way her brows furrowed.
“I-I What are you doing in my car? How do you know my name?”
She smiled then and the sight made his heart stutter.
“I’m here because you called for me, silly.” She shook her head at him, laughing.
“I-I didn’t call for anyone. Who are you?”
“Oh! Right. They mentioned that I might need to do an introduction. Sorry, I was just so excited to finally be needed.” She sat up on her knees, the slit of her dress revealing more skin than Harry needed to see, especially since he was unexpectedly attracted to a stranger who knew his name and broke into his car.
“I’m Y/N.”
Y/N offered Harry the back of her hand. He eyed it suspiciously. Afraid to touch her, not because he was afraid she’d disappear and his fantasy would end abruptly.
“Y/N… Why are you in my car? Were you trying to steal it? Do you need money?” He spoke slowly, pinching the inside of his wrist repeatedly. He was definitely awake.
Y/N tilted her head, confused. Why would he ask her that? Are all humans so distrusting?
“I’m not a thief. I’m your wish.”
“My wish…” Harry tasted the words in his mouth.
“I’m your wish. You’re my person.” She smiled at him as if he were a four year old that just asked if humans drank air.
“I don’t understand.”
She frowned then, “Well, if you had just kissed my hand when I gave it to you then you would understand.”
“How is kissing your hand going to change the fact that you are a potentially dangerous stranger who broke into my car?”
Y/N blinked at him and simply offered the back of her hand once more.
“This is insane. Get out of my car. Please.” He added the please as an afterthought. Even though this girl was definitely a con artist, he still didn’t want to be rude. How ridiculous is that?
She waited, her hand awkwardly outstretched toward him. Looking into her eyes, he felt a pull. Suddenly, he needed to do whatever she wanted. Anything to make her happy.
Before he realized what he was doing , his mouth kissed her hand. A spark jolted through him, a tingling sensation that traveled to his chest and began to flow through him. His mind raced, landing on a single notion. Y/N.
He pulled back. All logic pointed against it and yet his heart, his soul was screaming at him Y/N Y/N Y/N. She was his… His.
He blinked at her, overwhelmed with these new feelings that urged him to pull her close and embrace her. She grinned at him, noting his awestruck expression.
“You’re my wish…”
She nodded enthusiastically, bouncing with excitement.
“Y/N…I still don't understand but I… know I can trust you. Like I know you. Why?” Harry looked down to see his own skin was emitting a glow similar to Y/N’s. His was pastel green. He should be sacred. Terrified. Instead he felt at peace.
“I’m a star. The daughter of the Sun and the Moon. I’ve been waiting for my person all my life and it's you. You must have looked towards the sky and made a wish because I heard you. We’re soulmates now.”
xx. Daisy

Sweet Talk - Grumps n’ Sweets 2
Pairings: CEO!Harry x Chef!Y/n
Summary: Harry begins to win her over with his persistent attitude and charming quips.
Word Count: 1.7k
The song Sweet Talk by Saint Motel reminded me so much of Harry and Y/n’s relationship in this story:)
Part 1
~~~
Tumblr media
i’m the biggest dummy in the world:( i didn’t tag @treatbuckywkisses for making this incredible moodboard for me!!!!!
“Piss off, Harry,” you groaned when you saw his smiling face outside the shop’s door.
“No,” he only smiled harder.
“Stay away from me!”
***
Harry decided he was going to win her over, no matter what it took.
On Monday, he dropped off a bouquet of Sunflowers, some red roses and lavender added in for some extra color.
Favorite flowers for my favorite girl :)
-H
She’d left them at his secretary’s desk that afternoon.
Allergic, sorry :(
Tuesday, he sent them back to her, an old picture of her at a sunflower field attached.
Liar
-H
And you can bet, they were on his desk by the time he came back from his meeting.
He was met with a picture of her middle finger.
The flowers had begun to wilt by Wednesday, so he bought a new bouquet and they repeated the same thing for weeks.
Harry stood at the door with a small bear, it was white and covered in hearts.
“I think you’ve gotten even cheekier over the years,” he smiled as she let him in. They’d started doing that, Harry just sitting at the counter while she set up for opening. It was nice. The peace and quiet, and just being in her presence felt good. She set the bear with her stuff, and got to work. The other chefs had gotten to know him as well, since he was there every morning when they got to work. He’d become particularly close with the sweet Nigerian woman that reminded him of his grandmother, named Alika.
“Harry! How are you today, sweet child?”
“I’m good Alika, how are you, darling?”
“Good, good! Are you hungry my boy? I’ll make something for you very quick,” she offered with a smile.
“No, no. I had a scone this morning-”
“Scone? From where?!” Y/n shouted from the kitchen.
“Oh, you in big trouble, boy.” Alika laughed as she disappeared through the kitchen doors.
“My mum made them! I swear!” He threw his hands up in surrender, biting his lip to hold in his laugh.
“If I find out you’re lying Harry!” She warned. “You have to go, Harry!”
“Thank you, love. Have a good day!”
He was quickly out the door, but didn’t miss the, “you too!” She shouted back to him.
***
“Hold on just one moment, Ms. Finley,” Harry interrupted. Stepping out of his office, he saw his employees crowding around the floor to ceiling windows down the hall. He pushed through them, scanning his eyes around trying to spot where the siren was coming from. But before he could locate the truck, panic set in. Thick, black smoke was pouring out the front doors of the little coffee shop across the street, if you could still call it that. Everything was a blur from there. He didn’t process shoving people away and sprinting to the stairs, almost tripping about 10 times, or making it out the fancy doors of the Styles Dazzling Designs building.
There was barely anything left. Just a blackened foundation of the once cafe. Harry was brought out of his trance by the sound of sobs and shouting.
“Harry!” Y/n shouted, frantically crossing the street to him. She let out a whimper as she wrapped her arms tightly around him, burying her face into his suit jacket.
“What happened?”
“One of the new chefs burned the caramel and poured it down the sink, everything happened so fast.”
“Are you alright? Not hurt?” He worried.
She gently pulled back and showed him the burn across her wrist, tears in her eyes. She looked so scared and vulnerable, like she did that day he ended things.
“Let’s go take care of this,” he placed his hand on the arch of her back and led her inside.
Y/n’s sitting on the couch in his office while Harry holds a cool cloth to her wrist. A pout on her lips as she looked up at him.
How can he stay serious when she was looking at him like that? Like he was the only thing right in the world.
“Harry?” She whispered, “I'm scared. It’s- what am I gonna do? I haven’t had another job since college. I-”
“Hey,” he started, “ look at me. You’ll be ok, hm? You’ll figure it out. Let’s worry about you and this burn right now.”
She sighed and laid her head on his shoulder. Everything happens for a reason, right? They both subconsciously inched towards each other, breath fanning across one another’s lips.
“Ow,” she winced.
“Oh ‘m sorry love, didn’t mean to.”
“It’s ok,” she smiled softly. She was quite relieved he’d squeezed her wrist, she wasn’t quite ready to be close to him like that again. Though her body thought differently.
***
Harry invited her for dinner, to get her mind off of everything. He sat her on the counters, a glass of wine in her hand as she swung her legs, humming to the background music as he cooked.
They sat on the couch and ate, catching up on work and how things have been since they’d separated. But Y/n had had one too many glasses of wine, and not nearly enough food for all the alcohol to stay down. So he took her glass and walked to the kitchen, giggling at the way she continued to talk to herself. Though, when Harry comes back, she’s nowhere to be seen. He places the water bottle on the coffee table and spots her rings strewn across it. Then her left shoe lay on its side adjacent to the couch pillows, her right on the floor next to the couch, her sweater laying on the floor in front of the stairs. There was a trail of socks going up the stairs.
“What’re you doin?” Harry called.
“Gettin’ in bed!” She replied as if it was so obvious.
When Harry reached his bedroom, Y/n was on her tummy, face buried in his pillows.
She turned on her back to look at him, her eyes drooping and mouth hanging open slightly.
“‘m sleepy,” she whispered.
“I know, you wanna take these off?” Harry asked, hooking his thumbs onto the belt loops of her jeans, tugging slightly.
“Yeah,” she smiled up sheepishly, “want y’hand shirt please.”
He didn’t even think he still had that, but he’d look for her.
“Harry?” She called.
“Yeah, love?”
“Want m’shirt!”
“I know, ‘m lookin for it!”
“I’m cold!” She complained.
“Get under the covers, silly,” he laughed.
He peeked his head out of the closet when she heard her straining and whining.
“Gotta lift your hips, darling,” he chuckled, abandoning his search to help her.
“Can I have some tea and biscuits?”
“If you’re awake in ten minutes, I'll get you some tea and biscuits,” he reasoned, brushing the hair away from her face.
“I don’t think I have that hand shirt anymore, darling,” Harry pouted.
He suddenly remembered that she was an emotional drunk, breathing out a sigh to prepare for the tears that were already forming in her eyes.
“Don’t cry, I’ll find you another.”
“But I want the hand one,” she whimpered.
“I know you do, but how about I find you a better one, hm?”
“Ok,” she sniffled.
With some more tears and arguing, Harry managed to get Y/n into his “but daddy I love him” T-shirt.
She immediately settled down when the smell of him filled her senses, cuddling down into his sheets and kicking out her legs.
“I missed you, Harry.”
“I missed you too, darling. So very much.”
“Harry!” She called out.
He came wobbling over to his room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
“Where’d you go?” Y/n pouted.
“To the other room,” he responded through a yawn.
“Why? I was comfy lying with you,” she whined, patting the bedding next to her.
She was too cute. It was moments like this when Harry questioned his sanity for leaving her. His heart fluttered when she cuddled into his side, breathing onto his neck. He knew she wasn’t completely sober yet, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying her presence and touch.
***
Harry woke up early to his alarm, Y/n still sleeping peacefully on her stomach. He just sat and watched her for a while with a loving gaze. Bed missed waking up to her so much, the sun shining on her skin made him smile and run his hands along the warm surface. This is what he’d spoken to Ruth about wanting. This closeness, and not with just anyone. With her. And now he had her. He knew she just needed someone to comfort her after the fire, and that she was drunk last night, but he couldn’t help but imagine her finally agreeing to have dinner together. And not to distract her, like a date date. Not as friends, as people who were seeing each other.
He didn’t need to go into work right? He didn’t have any meetings or anything. He could deal with his employee’s fuck ups tomorrow. It was the right thing to do to stay home and take care of Y/n. Maybe he could bake with her. Help her figure out what her next move should be. Since the cafe was unfortunately long gone.
He thought about what he had worked on with Ruth. Gaining control over his emotions. To try not to become too attached to Y/n. He’d texted her last night actually, they spoke for about an hour or so. She had told him it was ok for him to comfort her during this time, but not allow himself to become attached. Because if she no longer wanted to be in contact with him at some point, or if she wanted to stay friends, he’d end up back at square one. And Ruth really didn’t want to see the quiet, cold hearted man she met 4 years ago. He was still closed off and angry, but he’d made so much progress, and it'd break her heart for all that to be gone. She cares for him like a son, he had a big heart of gold, but regret and anger made him build up a wall, and close off his kind soul.
But at that moment, all that advice sounded like complete bullshit to Harry.
Aurora battles with herself. Is she crazy? Seeing things? None of this can be real, right? There’s no way. Guess not all secrets can remain secrets forever.
AURORA’S POV
"Harry?" I whispered softly again as I tip-toed near the glowing body on the ground. Astro was wagging her tail as she whined and danced around his body, stealing one last lick across his cheek. I looked down to the ground, a frown on my face as I grabbed the leash tightly and pulled Astro back, but she only pulled me towards him like she knew he needed my help.
Like she didn't want to leave his side.
Astro started to lick at his face and I stared in awe as the soft glow dimmed until it was no longer able to be seen. I blinked hard, my grip on the leash tightening as I swallowed thickly.
Was he...glowing? How was that possible?
No, it couldn't be. I had to be hallucinating. Maybe there was something in the weed I smoked earlier or maybe it was exhaustion. I sure hadn't been getting a good night's sleep the past couple of nights. There had to be some reasonable explanation to what I just saw that didn't involve the insanity my brain wanted to believe.
Harry's body started to shift, a soft groan leaving the back of his throat as I watched him look up at Astro with a frown.
"Ow." He paused as he rubbed the back of his head with one of his hands, grumbling from the contact. "Hit that landing hard—" He mumbled out, using his flat palms to ease himself off the ground.
"Harry?" I repeated again, but louder so I could get his attention. It took him a moment, but he looked over at me while on his knees, then back at Astro with widened eyes.
"Aurora!" His deadpan expression became a wide smile as he nervously chuckled while standing to his feet, dusting his pants off. "I didn't—Sometimes I sleepwalk and it's, uh...It's a problem—" He stuttered out but still maintained slight composure.
There was sweat glistening on his skin as the dirt from the ground scattered across his forehead, threatening to dry up the moisture laying so delicately across him. I gave him another once over, my lips parting as he looked at me as if nothing had happened.
"You were glowing..." I whispered out shakily as I took a step back, pulling Astro with me as I gave him another cautious look. My heart was pounding, and I didn't know what to think.
"What? No, that's impossible." He laughed out, shaking his head. "I wasn't glowing, you're just seeing things. Maybe you should go to the eye doc—"
"Are you gaslighting me?" I retorted, cutting him off. A scoff came from my lips as I put my hand onto my hip with a frown. Harry stared at me, blinking hard as he took a step towards me.
"No...?" He elongated in an unsure manner, his hand reaching out towards me as he took a step forward. I pulled Astro closer until she was by my side, wanting her as close to me as I could manage. He looked at the gesture, his smile faltering as he watched the both of us stand there.
"You don't even know what that means, do you?" I asked thickly. I couldn't help the words that came out shakily, because I was scared. I couldn't lie. I was confused. I didn't know what was going on or how he was glowing—let alone why he was glowing.
"Can we just go inside and talk?" Harry took a small step closer with a crooked smile on his lips, but I pulled Astro back with me in response. I took a few steps away from him as I gave him another glance.
"Answer me. You don't know what that is." I said a bit louder. "Gaslighting."
Harry looked hurt, his now crooked smile had fallen into a frown as he watched over me. His shaky hands ran through his hair in stress while his other placed a hand on his hip again. I was too annoyed and anxious to filter out what I was saying and how I was saying it. I was trying hard enough to remind myself that I wasn't crazy, but by the way he was reacting I had started to question my original thoughts after all. He had to be lying to me.
I wasn't crazy.
I couldn't be. That was too real.
"No, okay?" He croaked out as he blinked away the glistening tears in his eyes. I had noticed them as they appeared, his green eyes glassy and lowered. Although, he had placed a finger onto his wet face and stared down at his fingers in confusion.
It was almost as if he was upset he couldn't control what was falling from his eyes, confused where it had come from all of a sudden.
"Why were you glowing?" I questioned shakily, disregarding the wetness accumulating on his cheeks as I watched him wipe at his eyes with his knuckles. Harry looked up at me the moment he heard my voice, a look of desperation painted all over his face.
"Aurora, can we please go in and talk? Please—" His voice broke as he went to take a step forward, but he stopped himself. He seemed to finally figure out I would only create more distance between him and I. He let out a frustrated sigh as he looked over towards the tree line in the backyard.
"I can explain everything if you just come inside and let me explain. Can you please?" Harry snapped anxiously. He seemed so desperate to make me understand what had happened. I felt bad, but my gut wasn't alarming me with any potential red flags—besides the whole lying part.
Regardless, he was still the Harry I had come to grow close to. It was only fair to hear him out—and it didn't help that watching him cry was ripping my heart into shreds.
I think that was the worst part about it. Seeing him cry like this, and it was because of me. I made him cry. I didn't mean to be so harsh, but what the hell? How else was I supposed to react?
"Okay..." I said, rolling my lips into a fine line as I looked down at Astro who was still wagging her tail. If Astro knew anything about danger, she would have already attacked Harry at this point, but she hadn't. All she wanted to do was lick and love on him the second she saw him. She continued to remain calm as I stayed outside with him alone. Not a bark was heard since I had closed the door behind me.
I was taking Astro's silent words for confirmation that I was safe. Even if it was for my own sanity and that was it.
Harry let out a sigh of relief as his shoulders slumped, his hands digging into his pocket as he pulled out his house keys.
"Thank you, Aurora." He rasped as he walked towards the back door to his apartment. I followed behind, but still created plenty of space between us as he unlocked the door and stepped into the warm home.
Astro immediately zoomed into the place, almost taking me with her, but I quickly let go of the leash and let her run inside. I rolled my eyes, wishing that I would have trained her to be a little less excited, but I loved her either way.
When I stepped inside, Harry was pacing back and forth in the living room as his breathing picked up from slight panic. I watched him as I shut the door behind me before walking towards the couch. Although I still remained hesitant.
"You're gonna think I'm crazy." He croaked out, still wiping at his eyes as he let out a nervous laugh. I stared at him with an unamused expression, then rolled my eyes as I let out a soft chuckle.
"I saw you glowing Harry, I think we are past that now." I said as I leaned back against the couch, crossing my arms over my chest as I watched his lips twitch into a soft smile.
"Okay..." He cleared his throat. "Full honesty?"
"Full honesty." I repeated back to him.
"And you can't tell anybody! Not even Nina." Harry pointed at me with distress, his brows furrowing tightly as he looked down at me with the most stern look he had ever given me before.
"I won't. You have my word, Harry." I said slightly confused, my lips pursed to the side as I anticipated the next words he was going to tell me.
"I'm—" He rasped out, pacing back and forth once again as his fingers pressed against his lips in thought before looking over at me with sad eyes.
He fell to his knees in front of me, placing his hands into his lap as he stared up at me. "I'm here because of a mission my father sent me on—I'm...I'm not human. I am a small star from the planet called Stella Domus. Our...our life force is in danger."
I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. The abundance of information that he just blew at me felt like a fever dream. He had to be kidding. Was this some kind of joke?
"Life force?" I snorted. What the hell was he on about? Did he really expect me to believe this shit? I had to bite back the fit of laughter that threatened to break through. How gullible did he think I was? Maybe I was crazy afterall.
"You, Aurora." He rushed out, grabbing my hands as he looked up at me desperate for me to believe him. "You are our life force. My father sent me down here to protect you from the light guardians. We are the protectors of the moon, and somehow the light guardians are trying to extend how long the days go on for. If there is no night, then we don't exist. They will try to attack you, kill you—if you die, we die. Our planet will burst into flames and we will no longer exist." He closed his eyes in thought. "I don't know why it's you yet, but I'm working on it. You have to believe me." He sounded so serious, but I was having such a hard time understanding what he was telling me.
My vision grew blurry, my breath growing unsteady as I tried to process it all. I tried hard to focus on the figure in front of me as he clutched my hands. He wasn't kidding, was he?
"The light guardians are draining our life force by the day, my father says. He sent me down here to stop them from killing our people, and when I told you that my parents were ill, I wasn't lying." He rasped out, blinking away the tears that formed in his eyes. "They are killing my parents by the day."
"M-me?" I stuttered out, my hands going loose in his as I stared at him with wide eyes. He frowned, nodding his head as I pulled my hands from his. "And...you expect me to believe this shit?" I nervously laughed out, immediately feeling uncomfortable in the situation. I couldn't believe something like this. Any other explanation seemed more reasonable than this.
"W-what? You don't believe me?" Harry questioned, disappointment lacing his voice. "Aurora, you must believe me. I would never lie to you about any—well, I mean..." He stopped himself. "I may have lied about a couple things...but this, you must believe me. Please."
"How do you expect me to believe you?" I laughed out as I stood to my feet, shaking my head as I moved away from him. He looked up at me until he stood to his feet, his palms were sweating as he wiped them off on his jeans.
He sat down on his couch, his palms resting neatly on his knees as they bounced quickly. I had never seen him like this before. It was honestly worrying seeing that amount of anxiety over this. Was he delusional? Had I been getting to know someone that wasn't engaged with reality this whole time? Oh, God, I felt so stupid.
"You have to promise me something first. For real. Solemnly swear." He said sternly, but shakily at the same time. "Do you promise not to tell anyone?"
"Harry, I–" I stopped myself. I wanted answers and if the only way for me to get them was by promising him something I didn't quite understand yet, then that was what I needed to do. Even if I promised I would never tell someone of these wild stories that sounded straight out of a fictional book, it was baffling all in itself.
"Fine, I promise. Okay? I told you I promised. Now tell me why I should believe all of this. You know how crazy this all sounds, right?"
He started to speak, but immediately started to stammer on his words. I couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of guilt. Seeing him go through such an array of unsettling emotions wasn't easy to watch, especially considering how opposite it was to his baseline behavior.
I blew out a long, deep breath and shut my eyes for a moment, softening my tone before I spoke again.
"Look, I want to believe you, okay? Just–" I looked around, trying to give myself any kind of hint on what to say next to calm him down more—to calm myself down even. "You have to be able to prove it somehow, right? Make yourself glow again or some shit. Prove to me that I wasn't hallucinating."
By the time I looked back over to him, his head was buried in the palms of his hands and he peeked out from it. His eyes didn't look as dull, and his expression didn't look as overwhelmed.
"I have an idea. I know what to show you, but we have to do it outside." He shot up from the couch, quickly exiting out of his back door before I had the chance to say anything else. With a groan, I propped myself up from where I was seated and cautiously dragged myself after him. Before reaching for the doorknob, I pointed at Astro as a sign to stay put. She wagged her tail, laying down promptly.
"Good girl." I whispered out as I pulled the door farther open. "Now wish me luck."
Harry stood in the middle of his backyard. It wasn't a large yard, but it was a lot considering it was a part of an apartment complex. I could still make out the details of him as he stood there with his arms spread out on either side of his body.
"Do you trust me, Aurora?" He spoke loudly and I widened my eyes, darting my gaze back and forth to make sure he didn't alert anyone around.
"Yes, Harry, I trust you. Just keep quiet, okay?" I motioned my hands in a downward motion, hinting at him to lower his voice.
He didn't say anything else, but knelt down to his knees. Instinctively, I made a step forward to check on him but retreated backwards once I remembered what was going on a moment later. His head was tucked into himself, his arms wrapping around his legs.
"Harry? You okay?..." I trailed off, the nervousness in my voice more obvious than anything. I was genuinely scared. Was he hurt? Was he having a mental breakdown? Should I be calling someone? Did I need to run away?
A popping noise jolted my body, startling me to my core. What startled me even more was what was in front of me. He glowed, but not in the way as before. The beam of light seemed to not even touch his body, but instead created a border around him. I swore my breathing stopped completely, my system going into full-on shock.
His body sprung out from his previous cocooned positioning, and my blown out pupils intently followed his figure as he began to rise from the ground. When I thought he would stop rising, he still continued. His toes were no longer touching the grass, and the glow ricocheted against the droplets of dew sprinkled across his surroundings below.
My eyes trailed slowly up his body, taking in everything carefully. Eventually, his face came more into view, and I gasped from surprise. I knew it was Harry, and it looked like Harry, but it didn't at the same time. It was Harry's features but shifted.
His curls still had its typical random wave texture flowing atop his head, but somehow it seemed to flow out of still air. There wasn't a single gust of wind blowing through the neighborhood and not a single leaf shook off of a tree. Yet, his hair flowed as gracefully as it would have if each strand was a life of its own.
But it was his skin that enamored me the most. The most beautiful shade of violet encapsulated his skin tone, completely wiping away his previous ivory color. The closer I looked, the more I saw of the lilac glow that vibrated from him, morphing into the white radiance that flowed off. The beams of light reflected against the wooden fencing around the yard, and even the grass had a tint of purple mixed in.
My jaw slacked at the sight, and I couldn't help but ogle him. I had never in my life seen something that was as beautiful as he was right now. He was always beautiful, but this? It was beyond measures of beauty. Everything sparkled with flicks of light– his hair, his skin, his clothes. A soft humming noise came from him, as if the lights were singing a song perfectly curated for me. The sounds immediately wiped away any residual anxiety that lingered throughout my bones. It was unexplainable how his current presence was making me feel this way.
I felt a tear burn at the rim of my eyes as I blinked harshly, fighting against the blur that formed. This was all so much at once. All I wanted was to nonchalantly run by his house to make sure he was okay. I wanted to take Astro out for a walk. The best case scenario was seeing him and maybe hang out for a bit. If I knew this was what was going to happen by the end of the night, I wouldn't have left my house. Ever.
Even if this was what he was saying it was– him being a star– and regardless of the fact that obviously I now believed him, I was overwhelmed. I was overwhelmed by so much– his beauty was at the forefront of my mind, completely skipping over the fact of how he was forming himself into the way he was. His eyes shone back at me, the green specks sparkling like genuine emeralds. They appeared made of glass, just recently shined by a jeweler. His skin was so smooth and I was afraid if I touched it once, I would never want to stop.
But how was any of this possible? And what did this have to do with me?
I felt like everything I knew in the world to be true was crumbling down faster than the speed of light. I studied almost my entire life about space and what made space. It was a beautiful, chaotic mess and I was constantly wanting to find out more. These last twenty minutes had completely uprooted all of it. I knew in the back of my mind that anything could have been possible up there, but never in my life did I expect to see it for myself.
Is that what he was? An alien?
"See, Aurora?" His voice soothed out. His words were like silk, wrapping me in warmth as they came out of his mouth. He sounded so calm, as if he wasn't on the brink of a panic attack only minutes ago.
"W-what– What are you?" My words quivered out of anxiety and I felt frozen. I considered running away, but my legs refused to budge.
"A star. A protector. We all live among the stars."
I shook my head, rubbing my fingertips against my eyes as if to shake me from this dream. Except, this wasn't a dream and it was very much reality.
"What the fuck." I whispered under my breath, staring at my feet that were acting as if they were cemented to the grass. Each blade seemed to tie me to the ground, wrapping tighter as each second passed.
A short series of claps shook me back to his figure, but was matched with the violet glow from his body quickly disappearing as I continued to stare ahead, followed by a loud thud. My gaze immediately shot down where his body laid, and then around us. Was that loud noise why he fell? Where did that even come from?
It didn't matter. Harry was no longer floating or glowing and it made a pit in my stomach begin to form. He laid as lifeless as he seemed when I first found him in the middle of the yard. I ran over to him, a rush of worry springing through.
"Harry!" I yelled out.
Harry laid on his stomach, his face pushed to the side into the ground as I rushed towards him. Panic started to set in and I pressed my two fingers to his neck to find a pulse with my shaky hands. I felt his heartbeats and let out a sigh of relief, my shoulders slumping.
"Harry, you okay? Talk to me, c'mon." I shook him softly, but he still laid on the ground. I started to worry. What if he wasn't going to get up? What if he was going to be out for a while?
Just then, Harry coughed out, his brows knitting tightly as his fingers dug into the grass. His face scrunched up as he inhaled sharply, it was almost as if he was happy to breathe our oxygen like a human again.
"Hey, it's okay, you're okay." I coo'd as he tried to sit up, but stumbled. I frowned as I wrapped my arms around him and hoisted him up. Harry let out a soft groan as his head tilted back tiredly, then rolled over onto my shoulder as I tried to help him back into the house.
"You're okay, yeah?" I asked again, my hand firmly grasping his hip as his arms wrapped around my neck for balance.
"Can't—can't do it more than once in a night. Really takes it out on someone like me." He breathed out in fragmented sentences as I helped him onto the couch. I was still in awe over his true form, I couldn't—wouldn't— ever get over it. He was so beautiful, and it made me look at him so much differently now than I did before.
"You did good, I think it's safe to say that I believe you." I chuckled lightly as he rolled himself over into the sofa, his curly locks were messy in his face as he stared ahead with parted lips. It was like he was trying so hard to regenerate his energy.
"I'm glad to hear you believe me under the circumstances." He chuckled back, glancing at me out of the corner of his eye before rolling onto his back slowly. His hand placed on his stomach as it rose and fell with his heavy breaths.
"So now you know...But, Aurora, you mustn't tell anyone." He said slowly, looking at me through half lidded eyes. "If my father found out that this has happened I—I would...never get to make him proud..." Harry words faded out into a dull whisper, looking away from me as he swallowed roughly.
I frowned at how open he was being with me now. Did his father think that lowly of him? I didn't know what it was like on his planet, so I wasn't sure how strict it was, but to hear Harry wanting to make his father proud of him had tugged at my heart strings.
It almost made me want to cry for him.
"I won't tell anybody, you have my word." I told him, placing a hand onto his ankle as I let out a low hum, "So does this mea—"
"I'm not supposed to be around you. Or anybody." He interjected as he looked away towards the wall, his legs coming up to his stomach to curl up. "My father doesn't want me to have any personal relationships with humans—he wants me to be alone down here, just like how I'm alone back on my planet... " He whispered softly, a sniffle coming from him.
I was trying so hard to keep it together, but just knowing he was so alone. Just seeing the kind of person—being?— he was and how loving and happy he was. Someone like that should never spend their life alone. Harry had a lot of love to give, I knew that. I saw it every day. I just felt bad that his father was trying to seclude him from it.
"Ugh, what is this?" Harry spat annoyingly, wiping at the tears that have fallen down his cheeks. "This salty water won't stop spilling from my eye sockets. How do I get it to stop? This is perhaps the most annoying feeling I've had to deal with while being on Earth."
"Harry..." I frowned as I scooted closer to him, watching him wipe at his face before sniffling his nose. He looked over at me with red eyes, sitting himself up on his elbows to give me his full attention.
"You're crying. It usually happens when you're sad." I said softly. This whole thing wanted to make me reciprocate his cries now. I had never seen Harry sad before, and this was absolutely devastating for me. He had always been the cheeky-grinned boy that lit up the hallways of school, or the goofy excited boy that was fascinated over squirrels and birds.
Where was that boy now?
It also made me have a newfound understanding as to why he was the way he was. It wasn't just that he was some sheltered kid due to overprotective parent syndrome—he was this being randomly placed on Earth with not much understanding of it. Of course he didn't understand things like spin the bottle, gaslighting, or crying.
"Sad?" He frowned as he sat up fully, turning his body towards me. "I am not sad, I just feel—a heavy feeling on my chest. As if someone is pulling hard against my chest– like on my human heart. That is all." He rubbed against the center of his chest, growing physically uncomfortable with the overwhelming emotions pooling inside of him now.
"That's being sad, and it's okay to be sad. I've been sad before too, a lot of times." I reassured him, placing my hand onto his back as I rubbed my hand up and down the clothed skin.
"Surely, I don't enjoy this sad stuff. Especially if this liquid keeps spilling from my eyes. How am I supposed to see? Is this permanent?" Harry scoffed as he wiped his nose with his sleeve, letting out a soft sigh as he slumped his shoulders. "Anyways...That is another story, my father. I would like it if we didn't talk about him anymore."
I nodded my head in agreement, in hopes that would soothe some of the nerves that had accumulated in his currently fragile body.
"So, tell me everything." I scooted closer to the edge of the couch, closing in on the distance between us on opposite seats. He remained slumped over, his limbs dangling off the sides. He let out a breathy exhale as I waited for him to respond to my request. "Please? I wanna know." I insisted.
"Might as well, I suppose. What do you want to know?" He groaned as he twisted his body more in my direction. I hated watching him in pain, wincing at the slightest movement, but he still kept a youthful smile across his face regardless.
"Everything." I blurted out excitedly. I rested my elbows onto my knees as I watched him with admiration. My chin rested against my fists while I smiled.
The initial shock wasn't completely gone, but it had substantially subsided. Interest and excitement now overshadowed the previous feelings, and all I wanted to do was listen to everything he had to say. This was beyond a once in a lifetime opportunity. I couldn't believe that I was the one who got to experience this, that I got to hear these stories for the first time.
I was so utterly astonished, full of immense gratitude.
"Well. I'm still working on figuring out how you guys work. I thought I understood by the stories I had heard at home, but you humans are much more complex than I imagined. So, I've got a lot of confessions I might as well tell you about. I just want you to trust me, Aurora." His eyes fell down to the ground, darting around the designs of the wooden flooring.
"It's okay, Harry. I'm listening." I reassured him. He flashed his gaze back up to meet mine, matching a smile of his own on his face again once he saw mine.
"Okay." He took in a deep breath, slowly exhaling it through his mouth. He adjusted his body again to lay completely flat against his back with his hands tucked onto his chest. His eyes closed as he opened his mouth to speak again. "It was hard to contain my excitement when I met you. You were the first human I had ever met, and I realized I must have scared you. It wasn't what I wanted, but then I realized it was you. The Aurora. So when I went back home I did a lot more research. I had to learn how to blend in so I could protect you."
He scratched at his forehead, sucking in a sharp breath. "But I had to be careful...I have kept this secret from my father. He has very strict rules and I must follow them. I don't know what he'll do if he ever finds out I've been meeting up with other humans, like Nina."
"Wait, he doesn't know you're supposed to be protecting me? I thought...I thought you said that he was who sent you down here?" My eyebrows scrunched as I tried to form my thoughts. It was like the more he spoke, the more questions that arose from it.
"Well, yes and no. I don't know quite honestly." He shook his head, trying to understand it himself. "I don't actually know. I've been too afraid to ask. He must know, but he was so specific about not meddling with human relationships."
I hummed in thought. "It sounds like you live a lot of life up there in fear, don't you?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "We have emotions, yes, but not like our human forms do. At least, most of us don't. I think that's why my father prefers my brother Leon, because I have always leaned more towards the typical human emotions. He doesn't like that." He pursed his lips together in a frown, fidgeting with the rings on his fingers.
"I liked being around you because you made me feel normal. It was why I tried so hard to make sure I didn't scare you off, too. I agreed to things that I had never heard of, just in hopes that I seemed normal, but—" He trailed off into a mumble and cleared his throat. "—But, I have realized lying is...I don't like it. I don't like lying to you."
He looked genuinely hurt by his actions—actions that I had no idea about. Was it technically lying? Yes, sure. But, I also understood why he did it. I couldn't imagine myself in his predicament, given the otherworldly experiences, which made me all that more sympathetic towards him.
"I'm so sorry, Aurora. I won't lie to you again. I promise." He bit at the chapped skin of his lips, still twirling around the rings on his fingers. I couldn't help but watch him spin around the silver jewelry, one of which had a beautiful blue stone in the center.
"I forgive you, Harry. It's okay, I understand."
He smiled shyly at his hands as he brought his gaze back to mine. It was like a cloud of discomfort had lifted straight from his shoulders as he heard me, like that was all he needed to hear to be okay again. I felt so guilty that he had to keep all of this to himself, but I was so grateful that I could be of some comfort for him now.
It was the least I could do for all he had done for me.
And then on May 20, he tweets,
And then on May 21, 2022, Harry posts a photo of Louis holding a piece of paper that says:
Harry placing “Love of my Life” right after “boyfriends” for the tracklist is the literal embodiment of “you’ve got my devotion but man I can hate you sometimes”
‘Matilda’ is written for the older sisters who have complicated relationships with their families. For the ones who moved out but miss their younger siblings and support them always even if they’re not under the same roof. It’s for the ones with childhood trauma that they’re working through in therapy. For those who understand why their parents are a certain way but will never live at home again. For the girlies who created their own found families. For those of us who feel guilty for having experiences our parents will never get to. It’s for the ones putting themselves first everyday and trying not to regret it. It’s for those of us trying to let it, and them, go.
So, HS3/ Harry’s House dropped recently and I thought that they would give my opinion on hearing the song for the first time.
Remember that this is my opinion and you are entitled to your own and don’t have to agree with me. Pleas don’t come after me.
Music for a sushi restaurant- Giving me like Japanese electro vibe if they makes sense. He’s literally ordering food in the beginning. I love the build up they happens around one minute. I thought that the lyrics was a bit weird but over all it is good. The ending sounds like you’re going to get stung by a bee. Originally I gave the song a 6/10 since it was the first but after hearing the other song I thought that it vas similar to some of them so I listened to it again and re scored it. 7/10
Late night talking- I already know that this will be one of my favorites from hearing it on Coachella. Like the lyrics, it is very clear what he is singing in different from Music for a sushi restaurant. Not quite as good recorded as live I think it is missing that fun thing. But not thinking about Coachella it is great and I love the “Can’t get you of my mind”. 8/10
Grape juice- The count down in the beginning. I can already imagine the crowd screaming it when it is preformed live. I thought it was kinda hard to hear the lyrics the first time around so I listened to it again after listening to every other song, at I liked it more. Love the chorus. Liked it more than I thought I would. 8/10
As it was- I listened to it when it originally dropped and I really like it. I like the best and the mood of it even if the lyrics is kinda sad. 7/10
Daylight- Love the intro (before he starts singing). The lyrics is making me sad, I love the background but the lyrics is just so sad. Love how he sings blue bird. 7/10
Little freak- I thought that it would give médecin vibes but it didn’t so kinda disappointing since I love médecin. But it’s really good. The lyrics is making me emotional. Before we knew anything about the album I thought that it would be a black and green rock album but it’s not so when I read Little freak on the list I thought that that would give us the vibe but it didn’t and it’s a pleasant suprise. Didn’t think I would like it as much as I did. Definitely didn’t think that I would like any of the song more that Late night talking but. 9/10
Matilda- (So apparently you’re supposed to cry listening to this. Let’s see.) So, all the rumors are true. Not even one minute in and I’m already crying. I have nothing to say about it, it’s ducking great. 9/10
Cinema- Happier vibe than I expect. Not thinking about the lyrics it kinda gives me Sunflower vol.6 vibes? Back to the lyrics I love the chorus it really catchy and it will definitely be on my mind, same with the beat of the song. The ending, the screaming. Harold! 8/10
Daydreaming- Why are the song that I think something about before listening the compleat opposite of what I originally thought. Not my favorite but I don’t have anything bad to say about it. I do love the high Living in a daydream that Harry dose in the background. 7/10
Keep driving- I like the beginning and the beat of it. But the chorus is a bit underwhelming from the rest of the song, I expected a beat drop and then a great chorus. So kinda brings the rest of the song. But I love the rest. 8/10
Satellite- As myself seing the title of the song I can only think about two things, Ted Gärdestad and Lena. Anyway, the intro is giving me space vibes if that make sense. The best drop after he sings satellite is what I expect from keep driving. Love the “I go round and round, satellite”. 9/10
Boyfriends- So once again heard it at Coachella and it was a bit underwhelming. But it is better recorded. Still not my favorite but I do love it. I am crying to it tho. 9,5/10
Love of my life- Back in the days when we only knew that it was 13 songs befor we knew the names I claimed track 13. But if you did to then I guess we can shear. ITS THE YOU ARE HOME SOUND. IM AMAZING AT CLAIMING THINGS. I’m crying it’s so good. The kinda high note when I pull out Life around 1:32. He put the outro in 28 seconds. 100/10
100/10= LOVE OF MY LIFE ♥️
9,5/10= Boyfriends
9/10= Little freak, Mathilda and Satellite
8/10= Late night talking, Grape juice, Cinema, Keep driving
7/10= Music for a sushi restaurant, As it was, Daylight and Daydreaming
