uh... right now it's casual touch? anything from hugs, to a pat on the shoulder, to a hand in someone's hair. just casual things that show how close people are without being too overt about it? I got to write a lot of that with Trudy and Mouse in Kidnapped last chapter and that will come back again in the epilogue!

does found family count as a theme? maybe not the found family itself but like... growth? moving forward? replacing the rougher parts of one's past with a newer, better version of the things they've lost?

I like my writing! Specifically, I've been thinking about my Mouse character study (i can't see past the mirror) lately? and I'm really proud of that one. I set out to hurt emotionally and I did it, and I got to tie in all of Mouse's parental trauma with how it comes back around with his place in Intelligence which is something I've gotten to babble about a million times to Kit but never that coherently.

Crooked Love! almost all of my One Chicago fics outdo all of my old stuff, which I'm definitely not mad about, but Crooked Love gets the top spot for number of hits. My fic with the most kudos is actually my very first One Chicago fic, now I see daylight, which is a Rhodestead AU set in season 4 of Med.

probably A Study In Legacy? that one started as this little idea about writing my spoiled rich boy headcanon into something, and then it turned into a murder mystery without my permission? I wrote that in a week because it just kind of... happened. I was supposed to be writing other things that never got written because Gregory needed attention apparently

I do! I've been participating in Hauntober the last few years, which is an October writing challenge here on Tumblr, and I've been writing Christmas fics every year since 2020, to give me something to work on during lock down and when I'm avoiding my family around holidays. I wrote a few Valentine's Day fics back in my Marvel era, too, and technically chapter 2 of Phone Call was written for and posted on Mother's Day this year. I think my favorite holiday inspired fic that I've written is either you can call me babe for the weekend, which was my Christmas/New Years fic for 2020 (it's very gay, it's got some fake dating, real feelings, a shitty ex that almost ruins things, and a bunch of world building that I loved playing with to tie it into the Agents of SHIELD canon lore), or home remedy, which was my Christmas fic for 2021 (it's also very gay, Moustead/Rhodestead as established ships, just a sweet family holiday fic that ended up being like three times longer than I intended but that's all of my One Chicago fic)

mornings! I didn't notice it until I was halfway through Hauntober 2021 (I think I was talking to Kit after the Adam/Hailey/Kim fic but don't quote me on that my memory is garbage) but a lot of my fics, both in the One Chicago fandom and back in my Marvel days, incorporate mornings and sunrises and the symbolism of new beginnings. and kitchen scenes. I write a lot of kitchen scenes. because that's where the emotional discussions happen, for some reason. usually those scenes are also in the morning for the full symbolic effect. Phone Call is the exception all of the kitchen scenes in that fic are going to be at night (either late at night or 1/2/3 in the morning) except for chapter 6. that one's going to be mid-afternoon to early evening. this is a conscious decision.

I almost feel bad that I didn't even get to touch on the Hallmark AUs here but to be fair the OC ones aren't written yet. and Chefs AU is gonna have so many kitchen scenes it's insane like it's all kitchen scenes. so it's included in spirit.

• this year’s fictober entries are gonna be compiled into a lil anthology im gonna call ‘hauntober’ (unless i come up with a better title but i like this one it makes me laugh) since the general theme is shaping up to be spooky

• i still have to compile 2020′s fictober entries, and come up with a title for it, like i did for october odds

• im thinking of doing nano, and by ‘doing nano’ i mean im thinking of dedicated november to writing lofm. i dont plan to have word count goals, as that doesn’t work for me, but instead my goal will be to write for it for 20 mins every day. if i do more, than wonderful! but 20 minutes is smth i can manage daily i think, and timers work great for me, and i wanna get my butt in gear with this wip.
