The mischaracterization of people from PJO is so funny, but ESPECIALLY from HOO onward like.

Hazel, who’s always ready to fight in the same way Percy is? Hazel, who made it explicitly clear she probably would’ve rocked Octavian’s shit had he not been blackmailing her? Who gets so angry on behalf of the people she loves, to the point where she doesn’t forgive those who have wronged them? Who Percy described as cursing up a storm in one of their first interactions? Who’s been shown time and time again to be FAST to anger? That Hazel?

Or Nico, who’s “a misunderstood emo. A small bean. Cute like a wet cat and innocent like a bunny.”

Nico, who’s cannonically described by most characters as “scary and unnerving?” Nico, who, for a long time, is one of the angriest characters in the series? Who’s only sassy and sarcastic because it took him FOUR YEARS to mellow out? Who’s described as being one of the most powerful demigods, who a lot of people still consider the scariest? Who’s come into his own as a character from TTC to TSATS? That Nico?

Or Annabeth who’s, “cold and calculating. Doesn’t show emotion or express herself”

Annabeth, who’s the most expressive person in the series? Who cries in EVERY book in the OG series? Whether it be for Luke, or Thalia, or Percy, or Chiron, or a literal DOG? Who expresses passion like no other when it comes to architecture and her other interests? Who’s expressed compassion for people she didn’t know? People who at times posed a threat to her? Who isn’t afraid to be angry, or happy, or snide, or rude, or excited, or scared, or ecstatic? Who’s been unapologetically herself since the moment the series started? That’s who doesn’t show emotion? That’s Annabeth?

Ive been thinking recently on the fact that all of the 7 (+Nico and Reyna), have like somewhat uncommon names? Except Jason and Frank...

Perseus (obviously not common for a teenager from New York)

Annabeth also not a typical name, it would probably be more common if it was separate like Anna-Beth

Piper is a normal name but not super common

Hazel also not super common

Nico definitely not common (especially if it is short for Nicholas, because its not a common nickname in recent years, although he isnt from recent years so 🤷‍♀️)

Reyna also not terribly common

Leo (ive seen people say its short for Leonidas but i dont think we have proof of that) so its probably the most common but its still probably not the first name you'd think of if someone said to think of a name. Even if you said L names, I think Luke or Liam would be more frequent. And even if it is pretty common, I wouldn't consider it basic or anything.

They all have normal but somewhat uncommon names that seem to match in a way

And then we have Jason and Frank...

Like the most basic names ever (no offense to all the Jasons and Franks out there) but like...even Jasons sister has an uncommon name, and its pronounced even less commonly, and then Jason is just Jason and Frank...honestly Ive always wondered why Rick chose Frank as his name...

I just find it interesting, like why all the uncommon interesting names, and then Jason and Frank?

Again, absolutely no hate, I love them both, I just think about it sometimes. Like when a family has a bunch of really strange names like Griffin and Phoenix and Hawk and then Ben or something completely normal...like why?

I guess it makes them more realistic? If a name is super common and there are that many characters it would probably be strange to not have anyone with them 🤷‍♀️.

Tempest and Jason Grace are such an underrated Pegasus/demigod duo.

It's the fact that Jason claimed Tempest as his hourse/companion in the very beginning of his journey, and basically died falling off of Tempest's back just hits hard.

who’s actually the oldest big three kid😭

i’ve been thinking long and hard about this for way too long (i’m going off blood of olympus here)

nico and hazel are the oldest chronologically but biologically 14— actually i think hazel might have a year or two on him chronologically

thalia is biologically 15 but if she wasn’t in the hunt she’d be 18(?) or if she didn’t get the tree treatment she’d be 21 if my math isn’t off

percy is biologically the oldest at 16, that much is self explanatory (thank you for not making me scrounge the internet and being easy)

i think hazel might be the oldest mentally? she did die, but was still aware of her existence and time passing while she was dead, while nico doesn’t remember it being longer than 2 weeks (i think) in the lotus hotel

in terms of being alive without time being frozen for them, thalia is the oldest, despite her time as a tree? so she’s been aging the longest? but percy has spent the most consecutive years not having time altered at all

so i think we just have several answers here:

percy is biologically the oldest

hazel/nico are the oldest chronologically, but hazel is older mentally

thalia has the most consecutive years alive and aging

percy has the most consecutive years of being alive without interference

and jason gave me the least grey hairs

so if we’re scoring by who has the most points, hazel and and percy tie? i think??
