Talia is holding onto his arm as he was talking about the mission before he tells her, “But that's tomorrow. Tonight, well... First, dinner.” Talia smiles softly and prompts, “And then...?” Bruce responds, “Then we'll discuss that comforting you mentioned earlier.”

In the third panel, it's that night. They had dinner and dodged an assassination attempt, which caused Bruce to start to talk about the even bigger dangers that awaits them tomorrow. Talia gently tells him, “The moon is so beautiful, Bruce. Too beautiful to be wasted worrying.” They kiss in front of the moonlight and Talia reminds him, “We talked about comforting...” END ID]

Scar is standing, shocked still, doesn't know what to do because it's over, and he doesn't break out of it until-

Grian slams into him with a hug. It jolts him out of that place and he's in the void or rest world or who knows, but they're all there, and they're proud of him, because he made it, he won, he can rest now.

They create a massive group hug and even as they start to disperse, to head back to society, it's still there.

Scar hangs back and just watches it all, because this is what he wanted all along, they're all back together again and he feels like he can breathe again.

And then Jimmy turns back, and he calls to him, and Scar laughs off whatever he said and joins the group where they wait for him

i don’t like it when people characterize hal as just being a younger version of dirk who’s forever trapped at the point when he cloned himself to be AI. he’s not stuck in a perpetual void where growing isn’t possible for him b/c he’s not human anymore, as he does mature and change (while still making it his mission to be an immature jackass of course, don’t get me wrong) due to their varying circumstances, over time he becomes someone different than what dirk does starting at the point where they split @ 13; he becomes someone who isn’t dirk anymore. after the point of AR accepting himself as being hal, watering him down to being another version of dirk that hasn’t grown since becoming AI kinda destroys the entire point of him becoming and being hal. it completely ignores the progress he’s made as his own person. as hard as it is for him, hal is able to live with himself as someone new and attempts to seek out a way to live that life nearing the end of his arc (i.e. dirk and hal’s emotional rollercoaster of a final pesterlog). i understand the comic drives home the fact that they are the “same dude” in different forms, but that’s from dirk and hal’s perspective and they are both a little silly and need therapy. to summarize, he’s not stuck being 13 y/o dirk forever, b/c he’s hal
