#shepherd #Jesus #Table Dinner is a time for family to eat together. That has been restricted because of COVID. It’s easy to get used to eating by yourself or within your circle. We’re designed for relationships/community however. A lot of that happens around dinner tables. In scripture, tables are important. We see that in today’s verse, Psalm 23:5. David used his days of shepherding to write the psalms and express the lessons he’s learned from being a shepherd, the most famous of them being Psalm 23. Verse 5 talks about God setting a table in our enemies’ presence. The presence of an enemy can ruin a good meal. No one wants to sit at a table with their enemies. or even eat around their enemies. Yet, reading verse 5 makes me imagine I’m eating at a table surrounded by those out to get me, completely unafraid. I’m not scared because I know that God is watching over & providing for me. He’s anointing me with Oil & filling my cup. Heck, I bet my enemies are actually bitter because they can’t eat any of MY food. They can only watch. Here’s an alternative perspective. Tablelands in biblical times refer to remote plateau pastures for sheep. Shepherds have to clear the tablelands for sheep to come and graze. They had to pull weeds & poisonous plants, watch for predators & fill snake holes with oil so that snakes won’t come out to bite the sheep. It took a lot of work & the sheep were unaware of what the shepherd did for them. They just ate at peace. What the shepherds did for their sheep back in the day, God does for us right now. God deals with the enemy, He prepares our way, He provides a safe place. On our own, we’re helpless, but with God, we’re SAFE! God PROTECTS me from enemies & POSITIONS me for BLESSINGS! Chaos, confusion, fear & anger are all around you in this world. But you’re safe at the table of the Lord. You’re protected, provided for. I pray you keep your eyes fixed on God & what He brings to the table rather than the presence of your enemies. May He open your eyes to see His Goodness & Mercy all around you even in the chaos of this world. We always use examples of past miracles in the Bible to show the power of God but God is more relevant than that. There are examples of God’s power in performing miracles in our everyday life each day of our lives. Sarah, Abraham’s wife, was told by the Angel of God that she would soon bear a son and she laughed. How often do we laugh or disbelieve when we are told that God will heal that person. Sarah suffered because she didn’t believe but the miracle of Isaac’s birth came anyway. It was the faithfulness of Abraham that covered Sarah’s unbelief. When someone else prays for you, their faithfulness is covering your unbelief. However, that person who has unbelief is just making it harder on themselves to receive that blessing. Gen. 18:13-14 - “Then the LORD said to Abraham”, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD? In this time of uncertainty people question will they live to see the next day. Some people don’t have shelter, adequate water, and not to mention food to eat. God will provide, He always does and always will. Don’t worry or be fearful because God’s got us His word says He will never leave us nor for sake us. He will give you peace that you can’t understand and peace that doesn’t make any logical sense during this time. I know because He’s given me that peace right now in the mist of this pandemic. I’m not worried because I know He will do exactly what His word says.

It has been an up and down battle with the way I value my possessions. Cash flow and freedom to afford luxuries and comforts escaped my control, as I was preparing to learn the cost of a life worth living.
Sorrow pockets are better than empty hearts and delusional minds. Numbing stress is defeated by learning how to combat it. You couldn’t put a number on my soul anymore, another price tag to be sewed into; I was after the infinity.
No object, or activity, experience, or ensemble, can satisfy my quenching taste for abundance in love. There are revelations, and moments, opportunities, and surprises, to encounter the pure and simple bliss of being loved by the Lord. In His presence, a roof is more than a home, a sky is more than a view.
Whatever it may be that I need, I need not want. My needs and wants aligned with His plan unchain me from the cycles; they free me to live my worth. Quite simply, wise minds and pure intentions outlast fast earning and sleazy work.
“For we have brought nothing into the world,
and neither can we carry anything out.
So, having sustenance and covering,
we shall be content with these things.
However,
those who are determined to be rich
fall into temptation
and a snare
and many senseless and hurtful desires
plunge men into destruction and ruin.
For the love of money is a root
of all sorts of injurious things...”
