These Actions Haunt My Days
Odysseus was used to getting weird dreams. But this one was different.
Someone was watching him.
“Athena?” he called into the dream-void.
A soft chuckle came from behind him. “Don’t mistake me for one of the immortals, Laertides.”
Odysseus whirled around as a man’s figure faded into view. It was someone he recognized, but couldn’t quite put a name to. “Who are you?”
“I’m just a man.” The figure raised a hand and gestured to him. “Like yourself.”
Odysseus’s hand flew to his waist, then he remembered that this was just a dream. He can’t hurt you. And you can’t hurt him.
“What do you want, stranger?” he spat.
“You call me stranger, yet you too triumphed over my fallen body.”
So he was a ghost. An enemy … Odysseus almost didn’t dare ask. “H—Hector?”
The Son of Troy smiled—a gentle smile, although his eyes held a controlled rage. “No respect for your opponent, it seems. It took you that long to recognize me.”
“Why are you here, prince?”
His smile faded as his expression hardened. “I wanted to talk to you, one father to another.”
Oh.
“If this is about your son—”
“You did it to protect your own. I understand that. But…” He sighed. “You and I are not as different as you might think, Odysseus.”
The tactician titled his head, cautious but curious. “Oh?”
“You are a king, fighting for your country. You fight for your wife, who awaits you back at home. And your son, who you want to see grow up to live a glorious life. And you will do anything necessary to protect those you love the most.” Hector stepped closer and softened his voice a little. “I, too, fight for my people. For me, my city is my first love. I did everything in my power to try and protect it, but my efforts were in vain.”
Odysseus lowered his eyes.
“My wife, my Andromache—she longed for an end to that terrible war so that we could be happy together. But I told her … I told her that I might not come home—as surely you must have told your Penelope.”
“You—”
“And my son. All I wanted was for him to grow up to become a good prince—Lord of the City, as we called him.” His eyes filled with sorrow. “He was an infant, Odysseus. I understand that it was between you and him, but … he didn’t deserve that. He didn’t deserve to be slaughtered in such a dishonorable way. You were given a choice, Odysseus, you—” his voice caught in his throat. “You could have raised him; you could have given him the life I never could. But you didn’t. You chose the easy way out.”
“Easy?” Odysseus’s temper flared. “You think it was easy to hold your son over the walls of Troy, all while looking into his eyes and only seeing my own? You think it was easy to ride inside that horse into the city as the people celebrated, knowing that their joy would be short-lived? You think it was easy to watch the city burn as the people screamed for mercy, calling for their loved ones so they could breathe their last in each other’s arms? All while knowing full well that it was your fault this entire massacre occurred?” Tears were running down his cheeks now, staining his chiton. “None of this was easy, prince. It haunts my every step; occupies my every thought. I wish—how I wish I could have prevented this, but in the end, it was never up to me.”
“No,” Hector whispered. “But you could have tried.”
Odysseus’s heart ached. “I did,” he choked. “I really did.”
“There’s blood on your hands,” Hector said softly. “And there will be more. But whose blood—that remains up to you.”
With that, Hector’s figure disappeared, leaving Odysseus to fall to his knees and cry, each sob clenching his heart with guilt.

The way Castlevania nocturne also show how talented Isaac and hector were
You have this priest who spit on his values to summon a machine from hell to forge hell spawn but can’t do more than two at the time every 4 episodes while hector and Isaac were making them pop up like ads on illegal streaming websites !

Alrighty class, just before we begin Book 22, I want to remind you it was not ‘based’ or ‘goated’ of Achilles to desecrate Hector’s corpse by dragging it through the dirt on the back of his chariot. The only ‘slay’ he ‘served’ was literally slaughtering half the Trojan army.

thinking about how Hector was "man-killer" to the Greeks, but "horse-breaker" to the Trojans. how it takes tenderness and patience and devotion to get a wild horse to trust you, let alone let you ride it. how hector's life and relationships to others, even the gods, are defined by devotion, and how it wins him both honor and his own death. how hector thinks he can approach achilles like a spooked horse, but achilles is a dog and not only a dog, but a dog that has nothing left. how even the wildest horse has the desire for food and comfort, but hector has never met a horse that wants to die. anyways how's your day going

Romantic relationship headcanons for Dracula, Hector, Issac, Alucard, and Trevor?
Castlevania Boys Romantic Headcanons
Dracula
Tumblr media
Once his defenses are down, he’s a very romantic man.
Despite his eons of life, he still believes in love, and true love, and expressing that to those that matter.
Even if it’s few & far between on being able to find it.
Since his time is endless, and theirs possibly short, he wants to spend as much of it as he can with them.
Going on walks, picnics, or just being together in comfortable silence while they read or relax by the fire.
He is also a very passionate man. So make sure your evenings are free for him.
Hector
Tumblr media
Aww bless him. He tries.
Which is probably his biggest flaw. He tries too hard.
Hector is a classic over thinker, in the sense that he thinks on ever scenario and plans it out. Thinking this will create a perfect plan with now flaws, except he forgets that people are flawed.
Inevitably this usually ends in failure, but still a sweet gesture that is appreciated.
His gifts are usually very thought out, but also miss the mark. Like one time you said you liked green, and Hector remember this and gave you an emerald ring he pulled off one of his night creature carcasses.
At least your pets will live forward though.
Alucard
Tumblr media
Although jaded by life, Alucard is actually still an incredibly sweet and charming man.
Though he tries to keep his heart safe and locked away, he does still keep it on his sleeve. And once he’s warmed up to you, will gladly give it.
Words often escape him, as he’s worried about saying the wrong thing. So his romantic gestures are usually in, well, gestures.
Finding a book he thinks you will like. Coming across some manner of poetry and leaving it on your nightstand. Collecting wildflowers when he goes out to hunt or fish for supper.
Trevor
Tumblr media
More swagger than romance, but he’s getting there.
Trevor always says the right things. Good on compliments. Great on telling you how beautiful you are.
Terrible at remembering dates or plans though. So don’t expect him to remember anniversaries, or show up to dinners on time if you have a special one planned without reminding him 18 times.
It’s not that he doesn’t care. It’s just that his brain doesn’t work that way. More in the moment than a future plans kind of person.
He longs to be close to you, always. Not necessarily in a sexual way (though that is a lot) but just beside you, next to you, curled up by your side.

The two brotherly relationships in books 3 and 4 of the Iliad fucking kill me.
Menelaus gets a relatively light wound to the thigh and Agamemnon starts clasping his hand and yelling about how he’s going to make the Trojans pay and he wants the ground to swallow him whole for putting his brother in danger.
Earlier that day, Hector told Paris that he’s a useless prettyboy and he never should have been born.
