Coming Full Circle

There is a LOT of giving up going on around here! 🤨

"There are only two episodes to go." "There's not enough time to get Tech back." "We aren't going to find out who CX-2 is this late in the show."

Whoa! Just whoa.

Put on the brakes, peeps! There's so much of the full-circle storytelling technique going on in this series that there is NO reason to be giving up yet. There are a few parallels happening that are giving me hope that I want to share with you. I hope they help with your anxiety over what's coming in the next couple of weeks the way they have helped me with mine:

"The Cavalry Has Arrived" is the title of the final episode and also the very first words uttered by a Batcher in The Clone Wars. They came to the rescue then, and they are doing it now.

In that Clone Wars story arc, the Batch teamed up with Rex and other clones on a mission to infiltrate an enemy installation. They're doing that again. We know the Batch is on their way to Tantiss and we know from trailers that Rex will be there too.

They went into their Clone Wars mission with a specific task to accomplish, and in the course of that mission discovered that someone presumed dead was alive and being made to aid the enemy. It was Echo in The Clone Wars, and it could easily be Tech now.

The Clone Wars arc was four episodes long. Reports are saying that the final episode will be roughly triple the length of a single episode like "Aftermath" was to begin the series. That means that we have as much content still ahead of us to end the series as the entire Anaxes/Skako Minor/Echo rescue arc in The Clone Wars. They made a LOT happen in that story arc, and it looks like that's how much time we have coming up. A lot can still happen.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I've had a lot of fun on this roller coaster ride through the galaxy with you all and our favorite defective clones. May the Force be with us as it wraps up! 🧡

I got the 10th anniversary edition of Fangirl for Christmas and finally got around to cracking it open and beginning to reread the book yesterday, and it's reminding me of why I started writing fanfics in the first place.

I posted my first snowbaz fic almost 5 years ago, and it's really interesting to think about how far both I and my writing have come in that time. It's also sad to think about how it's been like a year and a half since the last time I posted anything.

I feel like I just lost the time and the passion to write anything even though I kept telling myself that one day soon, I would come back to it and finish those unfinished fics and create new ones and participate in the events that I'm now running. It just hasn't happened yet, and it hurts to think about how much I used to love it, but now I just stare at blank doc for way too long before finally closing it again.

Rereading this book is changing how I feel though. It is the reason I started writing fanfiction in the first place, and now, I feel like it's beginning to spark that desire again. As I read it, new ideas for fics are coming to me, and I keep thinking about returning to a fic that was only 3 chapters short of being complete.

I'm hoping that I can ride this energy back into writing and start feeling like maybe I'm a part of this fandom that I used to love again.

Oooh boy next dnd session we're jumping right in to the final battle of this huge arc we've been slowly working through for the past few months! We're far from fresh and this promises to be a really tough fight so here's hoping we make it out.

And then rather than having dnd the week after, I'm going on a car trip in person with the DM and half the party, so if anything terrible happens to us in that fight he won't be able to escape our wrath 😊

Here's the thing, 911 always acknowledges in the season premiere that we have missed several months of the characters lives, ie.

Season 3 - it's been five months since the truck bombing, Buck's leg is (mostly healed)

Season 4 - we've been living through the pandemic and just got back to normal after half a year, also Maddie is mega pregnant now instead of just finding out she's pregnant

Season 5 - No timeline given to my knowledge but Eddie is fully healed from his bullet wound implying a few months have passed

Season 6 - "Taylor moved out, what 5 months ago ..."

BUT there is going to be a HUGE break between season 6 and 7 due to the strikes which means the writers will either have to say that Eddie/Marisol and/or Buck/Natalia have been dating for 8 to 10 months, making them very serious relationships, or these characters will have to be written off as having broken up between seasons and I'm wildly curious to see which one it will be.

I know larian might not care for our favorite drider, but do you think we can expect something from the modding community? Perhaps they might come up with some content? I'll take any crumbs of attention I swear

The modding community has released a few things so far. One is a mod to add Kar'niss as a planar ally summon. He'll follow the party around like any other planar ally but sadly there is no dialogue that I'm aware of. I think there is another mod that replaces a companion with Kar'niss but I haven't found it on Nexus. I've seen screenshots where Kar'niss' model replaces Shadowheart in one of her romance scenes so not sure if that was a custom or public mod.

Overtime I expect more will pop up. Just not sure how detailed they'll be, depends on how difficult it is to make it happen. Fingers crossed.

I was looking up this picture for drawing reference purposes, and I was really struck with the fact that Momo is so much shorter than Izuru, but then it also struck me that Izuru is not that much shorter than Renji. So many horrible things happen to Izuru over the course of Bleach, but I think we often overlook the fact that when he met Renji it was like "ah yes, we are two guys" and then Izuru never grew again and Renji turned into Renji.

This is a splash page, so I thought I would see if I could find some further supporting evidence.

Exhibit B. Here, they are both very smol, but at least they are sort of equally smol.

Exhibit C. This one is very illuminating. For one thing, Momo is not nearly as small as she is in that first picture. For another, even though Renji and Izuru's head's are at roughly the same level, Renji is severely slouching, which isn't necessarily visible from a front or back shot. I love this actually, because Renji gives off the air of being very slouchy and skrunkly in his early appearances. He sort of alternates, actually, where he tends to stand up straight when he's trying to be intimidating or actually fighting, but then slouches and crouches and leans on things at other times. It's like he instinctually tries to take up less space than he actually does, except that you gotta stand up straight when Byakuya is looking at you, can you imagine having bad posture in front of Byakuya?

Anyway, Kira, I'm sorry. At least you're taller than me.
